Problems with 2013 Ford Escape FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2013 Ford Escape starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 71 179 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford Escape

I came to a stop at sign. the engine stalled. i put it in park and restarted the engine. it took an extra amount of time to start but did restart. i then proceeded to turn onto a busy road. upon acceleration the vehicle hesitated and would not accelerate or respond to throttle input. i was able to pull to the side of road and narrowly avoid an accident. the check engine light did not illuminate nor are there any obd codes. doing a little research, i have noticed that there are other year make and models that are having the same issue. i urge you to rectify this situation with ford. this is not only a danger to me and my family but also to other drivers on the road.

I have a 2013 ford escape 2.0 liter engine. it has been making a buzzing sound from the gas tank for months. usually after i put gas into it, the vehicle stalls. now the check engine light is on, the buzzing is worse and the car stalls while driving,. it stalls at any speed. the code is p1450 and everything i've looked at states the no gas cap system is faulty and causing issues. the issue now is a huge safety issue. these cars were recalled for this very issue and why ford is not fixing this is frustration. the dealership is no help, they just want to start installing parts, etc. every forum i've looked at says that the parts do not fix the issue. i'm beyond frustrated and scared to drive this car.

Car overheated as i was driving on the highway. had to pull over on an exit ramp. attached is my bill from ford for the repairs.

I bought this used 2013 escape a little over a year ago from a local ford dealer. i loved this vehicle for about the first six months. then i started having problems with the engine running very rough suddenly. sometimes a message on the dash reads message fault / service engine now. sometimes the engine will run rough and then stall out. sometimes the engine just shuts off while driving. i can fix it by coming to a stop, putting it in park, turning off the ignition, waiting several seconds to power down and then restarting. most of the time the after doing this the vehicle will start running again or the rough idle will clear up like nothing ever happened. i can go days and even a couple of weeks without incident. other times i can have it happen several times in a day. i have had this problem with different levels of fuel, with the a/c on and the a/c off,in the rain and on sunny days. it has happened with the engine cold first thing in the morning and happened after driving for hours. i took the vehicle to the ford dealer and they said the vehicle didn't have any fault codes stored in it. they said my vehicle had all the required recalls done. they could not get it to duplicate it while at their shop. they said their best guess was a faulty fuel sensor. they replaced the sensor. less that a month later the vehicle was still doing the same thing again. the engine will shut off while moving, sitting in park or sitting in drive. needless to say this creates a very dangerous condition while driving in traffic. after having this problem so much i started researching this on the internet and found out this was a problem with many ford escapes. several year ago ford recalled this vehicle and replaced a faulty wiring harness to fix it. i guess it didn't. i wish ford could find out what is wrong with this problem, otherwise these vehicles need to be off the roads.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving between 10-40 mph, the vehicle vibrated, stalled, and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to jeff drennen ford (801 s 2nd st, coshocton, oh 43812, (740) 622-0001) where the contact was informed that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,200.

My car stalls after fueling. it is the same symptoms as the ford focus recall.

Stalls randomly at low rpm, seemingly it's same exact symptoms as recall 14s17 which was for the larger 2.0 motor. vehicle hesitates and stalls and wont start easily. this happened on four separate occasions over 6month period. vehicle only has 50,000 miles

My husband & i became concerned when the car started shaking while driving; soon after, the issue getting gas started. everytime we needed gas the car would not start after filling up, then the transmission light came on. we took the car to our mechanic who could not find anything wrong with the car & recommended we take the car to auto nation ford which we did. we were told that we had to replace the fuel vapor separator which cost us $765; today one month later our transmission light came on again. i think it is unfair to have to pay $765 only to have to return to auto nation a month later. this seems to be an issue that should be considered a recall; a vehicle is suppose to start after getting fuel instead of not starting. luckily we have not had an accident over this issue but i am concerned that my car will stall anytime while driving. i still don't know what's wrong with my car but i'm sure the cost will keep increasing.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, it stalled without warning on more than one occasion. after the failures, the contact turned the vehicle off and it was unable to be restarted. the vehicle was towed to several independent mechanics. coggin deland ford-lincoln (2655 north volusia avenue, orange city, florida 32763, (386) 490-4325) was made aware of the failures and replaced the low pressure fuel pump sensor. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case numbers: cas-as15834530 and cas-1576. the failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

I brought my car to a mechanic because there was a strong gas smell in my car during and after operating. my mechanic informed me the fuel line from the rail into pulsator/damper is leaking. he said the cable next to the fuel line has been rubbing against it and caused the leak. there is a current nhtsa recall 13v584000 for my exact car make, model, production date and engine style but my vin is not listed as an affected vehicle, yet it is experiencing the exact issue. the ford dealership will not address this as a recall because of this. the mechanic stated what he observed is exactly in line with the recall.

2013 ford escape, stalling, loosing power dash lighting up while driving. dealer service dept can find nothing wrong.

1. mis-firing causing the entire vehicle to rock, seen mainly when the engine is in gear with the break engaged at a stop signal. 2. sudden over-revving seen on the tachometer. 3. the over-revving usually precedes the engine temperature spiking into the critical area. this is most likely to happen on inclines. pulling over, shutting down the engine allowing it to cool down for 10-15 minutes, then everything is fine. i have learned to watch for the over-revving, then apply the brake to stop the over-revving. then has allowed me to keep the over-heating in check.

I have driven this 2013 escape for 2.5 years. we have 34,838 miles on it. in the past year the following issues have arisen. 1) heat sensor has gone bad, warning lights and bells signaling a serious problem, as the car shuts down. car will not start. replaced twice in 8 months. 2) left passenger door will not close - latch issue as stated in nhtsa recall 16v643. 3) in the past two weeks, the car will stall without any warning. not overheating. computer diagnostics show no problem. this has happened while driving on the highway, residential driving with frequent stop signs, pulling onto the highway, in parking lots, a short trip usually does not produce the problem, however, if we are running errands and make more than one (1) stop, we will definately experience the stall during the drive home. car will coast to a stop, no indication from gauges of any engine issues. car hesitantly restarts. we proceed with extreme caution, as we do not know when it will stall again, and in what traffic situation. it is at the dealer to have 3 recalls addressed, and they will 'determine' if they can identify the reason for the stall. i have taken the car to another mechanic, who did not get to drive the car until a few hours after i dropped it off. of course, diagnostic testing produced no results and the mechanic drove the car once, for ten minutes - stall did not occur. noted that this issue has been record with nhtsa 40 times, and a recall has not been issued. this is a safety hazard. in response to question below, "when did this happen?", i am provided the most recent date: 08/19/2018. (it happens daily). i contact the dealer last week and was told to bring it in 08/20.

My 2013 ford escape has stalled several times while driving, only to restart again and seem fine. recently it stalled and would not start up.

This has happened now (2) separate times a month apart. while driving down the road at 70-75 mph the vehicle will loose power and tell me to pull over. i am not able to restart vehicle and the engine temperature will spike to hot. this all happens in a matter of seconds with little or no time to react and pull vehicle to a safe spot. there has been radiator fluid pouring over the engine on both times this has happened and is now costing me a lot of money to fix. i feel that this is an issue with the escape in general and not with just mine.

While driving down the road the smell of gas became very strong. i was able to pull over and looking under the car you could see fuel pouring from the engine compartment. i took a video of this to show the dealer. i was able to get the vehicle to the dealer as i was about a mile away. the tech determined that the fuel jumper hose was bad and needed replaced. i asked them if my vehicle was part of the recall that dealt with this exact issue and part, they said no. the recall was for escapes built out of the louisville, ky plant up to july 11, 2012, mine was built on july 30, 2012 from the louisville, ky plant. coincidence, i don't think so. fords words from the dealer is they are washing their hands of this and then charged me almost $300 to fix what is a known issue with these vehicles. not even a day later (18 hours) after picking up the car my vehicle overheats and is pouring radiator fluid on the ground. the dealer towed it back to the shop and is looking at it now. i know there is a recall for this as well, how much do you want to bet my vehicle is just outside this recall like the other one. this is crap and i think ford is aware that the problems pertaining to these recalls extends past the dates they have listed. please investigate this.

Gas smell in cabin. car was in park when smell started.

When driving on a highway the vehicle suddenly slowed down and the throttle did not work. i pulled off, shut the engine and restarted the car. it then ran ok. the same thing happened 2 other times - as if the gas pedal did not work. i saw on internet that escapes has a history of throttle problems, including my year. i took it to the ford dealer in columbia mo and they said , based on the vin #, that my car was supposedly not affected by this throttle issue. they said they could do nothing but charge me to replace the electronic throttle control. this is wrong. i could get seriously injured if this happens again but ford takes no responsibilty for a known problem.

Leaking coolant into engine cylinder block.

My escape sel 1.6l 6 months ago after getting a full tank of gas my car started and then started to shake and stopped. car would not restart for 10 mins and only if i press the gas pedal to the flood. call dealership and they said they had not heard of a problem and let them know if it occurred again. my car is stalling making a noise, shaking and then no power just dies. i am scared for my safety. it does it now while i am driving. i have found where there is a recall for the same year built and type car for this issue. just not for the 1.6 engine but the 2.0 engine. i have had the car checked at to car places and they can not find the issue.... this car is not safe please help!!!! please look at the nva-215sm 15v-813 agian this happens while i am driving down the road at 45 miles an hour or pulling our from a stop!! i have looked on line an there are at least 40 other complaints about the 2013 escape 1.6l stalling while being driven! this is a safety issue!! and clearly the same issue as listed above on the 2013 escape 2.0 engine they were made at the same plant in louisville, same year etc... i am concerned i will be hit or my car. i can not let me teenager drive this car!!!! help help help

Whilst driving on streets and highways, at least 1 month, me and my wife began noticing 2013 ford escape 1.6 hesitate! and stall, several times on and off streets and highways.pcm, module is sending incorrect signals, codes read, com needs reprogramming, also coolant system leaks!, may be causing over heating, and fire in engine compartment, water pump went out, wednesday june 6th 2018, car is now at ford dealership, for, investigation into recall work. that may have not been performed. prior to sale to dealership where we purchased it. we would like any updated information about recall repairs performed by fleet?, company that sold it to super auto sales., including calibration and over heat software to prevent over heating etc., along with 13 other original recalls that should have already been performed, and some record who recall repairs were performed by etc. also the driver and passenger seatback recliner mechanism has insufficient strength, becomes loose and leaning while i'm driving on streets and highways, this been since purchased under a year ago pre-owned 100,486 miles on odometer. also constant smell of strong gas coming from engine compartment, low gas mileage, significant loose of engine coolant, etc.as mentioned prior in my compliant, full line and fuel pump may need service, because of strong gas fumes in and around vehicle. thanks for your time. this happened over a period of a month till it broke down and we had it towed, we just found out about recall, and wad not told it was needed or had been performed by super auto sales in modesto ca. dealership we purchased pre owned vehicle is super auto sales 4312 disk rd. modesto ca. 95356 (ph: 209-689-5455),

I have already submitted one statement. i am just wondering why my vehicle wasn't included on the recalls listed below when it sounds like the exact kind of problem i have been having with my vehicle. when started it doesn't take off and get up to speed without hesitation and stalling. and when i do get up to speed it loses power at the most inopportune time i have been in several near accidents due to the engine not running properly. the codes that have been coming up. and the check engine suggestions. have been tested by four different mechanics none of which could fall find a problem till recently. and i'm being told that the turbo boost code is been caused by faulty wiring which is happened to be totally replaced. as per my other statement i am having it repaired tomorrow but not being reimbursed. and if other 2013 ford escape drivers have had this issue there may be some unrecorded desk due to the engine stalling on the highway and the inconsistent running up the engine when these codes pop up. the codes are also sporadic as i said in my other statement. one time you turn the car on and have a problem shut it off and the next time the codes are cleared. i have been living with this daily for a month

Engine light and service engine soon message appeared. car stalling and won't accelerate. took to victory ford in kansas city after 5 hours they couldn't figure out what the problem was other than replacing the sensor. hundred and $69 for the diagnosis. i was out of town so baby. did it all the way back home had a local dealership put the sensor in. another $74.. in the meantime engine code would sporadically disappear. and reappear period for no apparent reason. had the local dealership check the code again keeps reading turbo problems. they're ford machine was down so i took it to a dealership in the next town. specific coding showed that is a wiring and splice problem. in the meantime i've almost been run over several times because the car won't accelerate when the code is thrown. if there's a problem with the wiring harness it should have been covered under a recall which i've been told it is not. and tomorrow dealership is replacing all of the splicing and wiring for another $450. i'm afraid that the problem may have caused other issues. but won't know until after the original problem is fixed. i feel like a couple of the wiring issues that have been recalled already should have included this. and forward should have to reimburse me for my cost since this is obviously a manufacture problem and not normal wear and tear when car is in motion there is a whirring sound i've been told is due to the electrical problem.

1. my front bumper came apart 2 weeks after purchase at a place where the metal was welded and then came halfway of all pieces fell off attached to front bumper and no collision took place however when i backed up out of the parking space it caught on the curb and pulled apart even more. 2. since purchase after fill up the engine cranks however will not turn over without applying a little gas. 3. now yesterday i have too turn on ignition twice to start everytime i need to turn on the car. 4. i also had 5 recalls the dealership did not make me aware of fixed ( they only said rear seatbelts had to be replaced) well shortly after i purchased 3 doors wouldn't latch i had to rope my doors shut until i could get into sewel ford. my family has been in so much danger in this vehicle. i am a 40 year old disabled woman with 3 children, my step -dad is blind, my brother is terminally ill and needless to say i need a reliable vehicle in one piece. i have filed a complaint with the attorney general and the dmv responded that an investigation has been set out to determine how much of this is manufacture defect and what part the dealership played by non- disclosure of remaining recalls making me believe they were concerned for our safety by fixing the rear seat belts.

Stuttering when idle, usually after filling the tank up. check engine light on. giving error code p1450. i have already had evap vent solenoid fixed twice in january of this year(2018) light came on again today. same code

This happened 2x in my 2013 ford escape. when i pressed on the gas pedal there was no response. luckily i happened to be in safe areas when this happened. i had to shut down and restart the car in order to drive it. i brought it into the dealership and was told the throttle body needed to be replaced for $1800. i commute 120 miles a day - i cannot afford to be in an unsafe car with my children.

Car ignited going 70 mph down the interstate. i 85 jefferson ga

Car always sputters after filling gas tank!! faulty evap valve

The car hesitates sometimes when pressing the gas, mostly from the stopped position. for instance i've been driving and stop at a stop sign, check for oncoming traffic on the cross street(which does not have a stop sign/signal), when it is safe to proceed i press the gas to cross the intersection and the car slowly rolls out into the intersection and then finally after rolling for a few seconds will pick up and go. this happens while i'm pressing down on the gas pedal all the way. it's very dangerous while trying to cross a street with oncoming traffic. i've tried lifting my foot and pressing back down when the car doesn't move like it's supposed to and it doesn't work. it's only started doing this in the last year or so maybe and it doesn't happen every time, but very scary when it does happen, especially when i have my kids in the car. i've also had it happen when i've been on the freeway and have had to slow down from taking an exit onto another freeway and when trying to get back up to speed and it like it takes it a minute for the car to realize it's supposed to be accelerating.

Engine is suddenly saying high temp engine stop slowly then check engine light wil come on and low coolant fluid. been doing it on and off for a year. takeit to ford dealer and it will not do it for them. fluid is full.

My car caught on fire november 12th 2017. one day after york ford repaired car that i picked up on november 11th 2017.york ford said it was on warranty ,never mentioned a recall, car kept stalling, york had it twice for repairs, it caught on fire when i was driving the very next day. later found out ford had 139,000 recalls on 2013 escapes for fuel lines and potential engine fires. i do have photos and a video because after i called 911 i had my phone out. mass state police and revere fire dept. responded mapfre insurance co. declared it a total loss.. donna from york ford told me to fill the tank up because they put a cleaner in the fuel.??? please email me so i can send you the photos and provide any other documentation.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving, the contact smelled anti-freeze and fuel throughout the vehicle. after the vehicle was filled with fuel, the fuel began to leak. while driving, the vehicle jerked without warning. the vehicle was taken to covert ford lincoln (11514 research blvd, austin, tx 78758 at (512) 345-4343), but no diagnostic failure codes were found. the failure could not be replicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

While driving down the highway at 65 mph, an alert appeared stating "low coolant". in the past the car had stated the same alert before alarming that the car was overheating and needed to be pulled over. at that point the car would then going into limp mode. due to this history, we knew we had to attempt to get to the side of the highway as soon as possible. within one minute, the car did alarm "overheating" and went into limp mode. we were only able to get to the left hand shoulder of an on-ramp (middle of the highway). at this point we got out of the car and found that the coolant level was normal. after waiting 20 minutes we drove in reverse up the on-ramp to get off the highway, because we were confident we could not safely get to the next exit (several miles away). we then had the car towed to a local ford dealer (phil long ford of denver). this is the dealership where we had previously brought our vehicle to repair this same issue. at that time, the dealership replaced a broken temperature sensor, stating that this was what was causing the overheating issues. our vehicle also had maintenance completed on it as part of the 13s12 recall (risk of overheating) in 2015. the issue clearly has not been resolved after multiple "fixes" have been performed.

I was driving down i49, shreveport, la. at approximately 65 mph, high tempature warning came on followed by engine failure warning, as i was making my way to the roadside engine shut down. steam started coming from under the hood, when the vehical came to a stop, i popped the hood, as i got out of the car i noticed a small amount of blue smoke, followed by black smoke, i did not open hood, 30 seconds latter flames were shooting from under the hood, i called 911 as the flames engulfed the front of the car

Vehicle was going up hill at approximately 50 mph (temperature gauge normal) when, without warning, an alert stated the coolant level was low. immediately after, a second warning came on saying that the engine was overheating and to pull off the road safely (no longer able to accelerate). the coolant level was low, but had been filled less than 3 months prior. there are no visible leaks or cracks in the coolant reservoir, tubes, etc. after waiting for 30 minutes, we proceeded to coast down the hill in neutral (after filling the coolant tank with water). we then bought coolant at a local store and proceeded to go back up the hill. the car gave us the same warnings (coolant low and engine overheating). we were unable to pull off to the side of the road. thankfully a police officer was right behind us, so we did not get hit. he offered to use the battering ram on the front his car to push us to safety. however, the car was able to go the extra 5 feet when restarted, prior to it overheating and locking up again. after an additional 30 minutes we again went down the hill in neutral. at this point we decided to give the car a break and ate dinner at a local restaurant (approximately one hour). we then proceeded to drive home. about an hour into the trip (while going 65 mph on the highway the car again gave us the 2 alerts (low coolant and car overheating). we barley were able to get to the side of the highway safely. coolant level normal. this is a serious issue and need to be addressed. i will be contacting ford tomorrow to determine if our 2013 ford escape was included in the initial recall (and already had the work completed), as there are no open recalls on the vehicle at this time. i am hesitant to bring the car to a dealer as it appears many people have gotten the runaround and no clear solution has been identified. ford needs to take responsibility for this issue.

Since purchasing this ford escape sel 1.6l, i've had repeated issues with coolant loss. every time i've flagged it to the dealer, they brush me off and have filled up the coolant, saying they can't source the issue. i've been concerned that i've had a cracked cylinder head ever since the 13s12 recall in 2014. in recent years, the coolant loss issue had accelerated dramatically. it is unpredictable. and when it happens, the coolant will suddenly go from an ok level to substantially below minimum. furthermore, the engine has a persistent burning smell over the past couple of years. i've had to drive around with a jug of coolant and a plastic solo cup to refill the coolant tank whenever the low coolant light lights up. over the past 2 years, i've had to refill the coolant at least a dozen times. overall, i am concerned this was a fundamental flaw from the very beginning, and instead of doing the proper thing and rebuilding/replacing engines back in 2014 when the 13s12 recall occurred, ford put a band-aid over it and now the issues are re-arising just when so all the vehicles have had their warranties lapse. i do hope the nhtsa forces ford to do the right thing here.

For months now i've been feeling tired and drowsy while driving in the car-at times fighting to keep my eyes open. i recently saw the news about carbon monoxide leak in ford explorers and think my car may also have the same issue. after i saw the story i drove with my window open and did not feel the drowsiness that i have felt the lsat few months. i would recommend the investigation extend beyond just the ford explorer but through all of ford's other models like the ford escape. this is a very serious and life threatening issue.

First incident: august 3rd 2016 while driving 50mph car displayed a engine overheating warning message and slowed down as i pulled off the road. after a few minutes i was able to drive again and the message did not reappear, the check engine light was on. i took the car to kearney person ford 7303 clairemont mesa blvd san diego, ca 92111 they told me they couldn't find anything wrong and turned the check engine light off. second incident: driving to work earlier this year 2017 i got the same message that my engine coolant was low, and to slow down because of critical overheating, even though i had just had the car serviced for a regular maintenance check, once again at kearny person ford. i was driving normally on a road at around 30-40mph but accelerating when the message popped up. i refiled the coolant as the check engine light did not turn on. third incident: this was the most dangerous time. critical engine overheating message and low coolant message popped up without warning while driving up hill in traffic going about 20mph on the i-5s at the in california grapevine. the engine nearly shut off and limped on just a couple cylinders as i tried to get to the shoulder. smoke was coming out from under the hood and the engine was hot. it all happened immediately and without warning, the temp gauge was normal and then bam! overheated with warning messages crippling the car. driving slowly but the weather was hot it was nearly 110 degrees outside. seems super dangerous. because of the lack of warning when these incidents happen. the way that the coolant just disappears, and the smoke and chance of fire.

Was taking our 3 year old granddaughter to get ice cream while driving smell gas had over a quarter tank of gas drove about 2miles gas needle planned to empty stop vehicle at the next gas station which was about 5 miles away lifted the hood engine was smoking gas pouring on engine grabbed granddaughter out of vehicle call local dealer had them tow in the vehicle was about 7:30 next morning ford dealer called and said were in a dangerous situation that the gas ling from the tank to the motor exploded ...now we are very upset and really scared to drive the vehicle which they fixed with a new gas line...haven't picked the vehicle up yet

While accelerating vehicle on a highway on ramp, studdered, acted like issues going from 1st gear to 2nd gear. unknown if power train isue or fuel/engine issue. was looked at by shop same day problem would not reoccur..

Our 2013 ford escape sel has been stalling out while driving. our vin was not included in the previous recall but the symptoms ate exactly as described in 2.0 liter recall. this event happens every couple days sometimes twice a day. it tends to happen shortly after starting and merging/turning from a stop/intersection. we've taken it to a ford dealer but they weren't able to fix it. seems like a big safety issue to stall while driving.

I was sold the car with a defective fuel pump and never warned that it needed to be recalled, therefore, i have been driving it for over a year with the possibility of it starting on fire. also, recently the power train went on my car almost exactly one month after the warranty was up. after researching this issue it has come to my attention that many other ford escape owners have experienced this exact issue. i was even told by one mechanic that this is a known issue with ford escapes amongst mechanics. when the car is in motion it "clunks" and does not shift properly. i am concerned for the safety of others who may be driving these cars without the knowledge that there is something wrong with it.

No matter how much gas is in the tank there is a chance of the engine stalling. this stalling occurs at random. in traffic this is a very dangerous problem. so far we have had 3 close calls after stalling. my car engine has stalled a total of 8 times within the last year and a half. 65k miles and has not had any other gas line problems. this needs to be a recall and ford needs to take responsibility before someone dies from the car stalling while in traffic. the car would stall while in motion in a street. the car would stall after start. the car will stall on a highway. the car would stall while turning.

There is a gas smell inside the cabin. it is very noticable on short trips

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle started overheating and the check engine and low coolant warning indicators illuminated. the contact was able to pull off the roadway and turn off the ignition. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the water pump failed. the water pump was replaced and the coolant was refilled. the next day, while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and thick, black smoke was seen coming from the engine and rear of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the turbo failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. two days later, while driving at unknown speeds, a strong fuel odor was detected in the cabin of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic. the diagnosis was unknown, but the mechanic stated that fuel leaks were a common issue with ford vehicles. the manufacturer was notified and confirmed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling) and 12v336000 (fuel system, gasoline). the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

Gas leaking. ford said that the vin number on my car is not under recall. the same make, model, engine and year manufactured is being recalled for this reason.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 55 mph, the contact smelled an abnormal burning odor and saw grey smoke coming from the vehicle. the contact was alerted by another motorist that the vehicle was burning. after pulling over to the side of the road, the other vehicle's driver assisted in inspecting the vehicle and noticed flames under the hood. the fire department was notified and extinguished the fire. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to sprouse auto, but was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would receive a call back after 15 days. the manufacturer recommended that the contact's insurance company inspect the vehicle. the contact did not receive a notice, but was informed on 6/13/16 that they were involved in nhtsa campaign number: 13v584000 (fuel system, gasoline). the failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 40 mph, the contact noticed that the "coolant low service required" and "service engine" warning indicators illuminated. also, the vehicle began to stall. the contact drove to a fuel station and bought coolant for the vehicle. after adding the coolant with the vehicle parked for no more than five minutes, the contact started the vehicle. the "coolant low service" warning message was no longer illuminated; however, the "service engine" indicator was still illuminated. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. the next day, the contact drove the vehicle to sames ford (6001 san dario ave, laredo, tx 78041) where it was diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. the dealer repaired the water pump, but the failure recurred three weeks later. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to continue to work with the dealer. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer a total of three times to have the water pump, coolant box, and radiator hose repaired. the vehicle was not repaired and the failures still occurred. there were no recalls associated with the vehicle. the contact planned to take the vehicle back to the dealer today. the failure mileage was 55,000.

My 2013 escape is having all of the issues that are talked about in the recall of 2014 escapes regarding low engine coolant causing engine fires. the water pump has already needed to be replaced and now the "low engine coolant" warning comes on repeatedly. why are 2013 escapes not included in the recall announced in march?
