Me and my dad had brought this 2013 ford escape with warranty on august 20, 2018 at don davis nissan it had 70,093 miles on the truck the sales man name mr. freeman was the one who had sold us this truck he had this truck was at don davis nissan for a week the salesman mr. freeman told me and my dad that the reason the truck had took long because they were doing work to it to make sure that everything on it would be ok before they brought it too me and my dad. so we had the truck for about two weeks and everything on their was good until september 5 2018 the check engine light had came on i told my dad what happen he told me to take it back up their to don davis nissan i took back up to them they tested and they came back and told me that the turbo charge needs fixing and it was going to be $500 dollars so when i told my dad he told the people at don davis nissan that why should we have to pay for something out of his pockets when we have warranty on this truck and we just gotten this truck so my dad was pissed because we just gave don davis $500 and i looked on the internet and i seen were they a had a recall on this truck so i went out their to don davis nissan and told them this and they come telling me that my truck doesn't have a recall and i told them like how do you know what i have and i seen on the internet that the same thing that the other customers who had a recall on their truck and as i look at the comments and i seen the same thing happening to my truck like for example the electrical system engine to wear my truck overheats to wear i hardly drive it sometimes i do because i go to school and to my doctor and run errands for my mother or father. and i been telling don davis nissan since last and now and they acted like they don't want to help me but always be lying to me and my dad i have been telling don davis nissan this and they straight ignore ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving approximately 60 mph, the temperature gauge increased and white smoke emerged from the engine compartment. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and added coolant. the vehicle returned to normal for a few minutes, but then began smoking again. also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced a line between the radiator and the engine; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to northside ford (12300 san pedro ave, san antonio, tx 78216) where it was determined that there was an engine coolant leak. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
My 2013 ford escape keeps stalling while i am driving it. all the lights will come on, and then the vehicle rolls to a stop without be being able to press on the gas. there was a recall on this problem, but i guess mine is not covered, when it should be.
My water pump went out and researching this online i have read several other reports that this has been an issue with ford escape. there was also a recall in 2013 for the cooling system.
Car overheated while driving four times between 2016-2018 (after each instance, it was towed to and serviced at a ford dealer). car also experienced three instances of exhaust leaks between 2016-2018 (each instance was identified by a strong smell of gas and serviced at a ford dealer). in october 2019, the transmission failed while attempting to merge on the highway, requiring a tow to the ford dealer, who recommended a complete transmission replacement at 105,000 miles.
Tl* the contact's daughter, [xxx], owns a 2013 ford escape. when the vehicle was started, the maintenance (engine) warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle shook violently. the vehicle was taken to joe machens ford (1911 w worley st, columbia, mo 65203, (573) 445-4411) where it was diagnosed that the head gasket failed and the engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: [xxx]. the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v583000 (engine). the failure mileage was approximately 40,000.*pm consumer spoke to manager at joe machens who said that failure was related to safety recall 13s12 and that consumer should contact the selling dealership and manufacturer to request a refund. consumer contacted lou fusz ford (chesterfield, mo), suntrop ford (sunset hills, mo) and the manufacturer. all of them denied liability and refused to assist. consumer traded in vehicle, but is requesting a refund on the loss of funds. *dl parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I am constantly adding coolant to my escape. it has broken down / shut off on me twice as a result of overheating caused by lack of coolant. ford claimed the coolant loss was caused by a sensor. something along the lines of a faulty sensor tricking the engine into thinking it was overheating and the coolant was being dispersed to cool the engine. i explained to the dealership that i purchased the car in 2017 with 52,000 miles and that by september of 2017 i was adding coolant. this continue until october 2019 when i finally got fed up after the vehicle powered off on me going down hill as a result of 'overheating' needing more coolant. i tried sharing this information with my dealership to no avail and mentioned previous recalls on 2013 1.6l escape engines that my vehicle was not included in but many of the recalls involved coolant leaks! i allowed ford to convince me the $4,000 sensor would solve all my problems. unfortunately on december 3, 2019 less than two months after the sensor was repaired i got a maintenance notification to add coolant and another on january 20, 2020. in addition, i want to comment on the power steering defaulting. this happened to me as well in may 2019 on i 85. my power steering completely went out and never returned. previously in april a brief power steering default notification appeared and after restarting my car, the notification went away and power steering was fine. in my opinion, power steering should not be going out on a vehicle after barely 6 years. might i add when i purchased the vehicle in 2017 it only had 52,000 miles on it. the power steering went out a little over 2 years after i purchased the vehicle.
Car will stall randomly no matter at what speed usually after driving over 15 miles then starts asking for coolant
Vehicle suddenly stalls while driving on country back roads and city streets (i have an automatic suv). i am probably going 30 mph in speed when stalling occurs. stalling normally happens within 5-10 minutes after starting car. i lose the ability to accelerate and car stalls out. has been happening more and more frequently each day (ex. 7 times today).
Car caught fire while being driven
Car stalls unexpectedly while in motion, engine cuts power and is slow to start back up after
Car cuts off unexpectantly and transmission lite comes on this has happened many times and transmission people say there is nothing wrong with transmission
As i was driving on the highway at speeds around 45 mph, my vehicle just stalled and shut off in the middle of traffic.
Car shut off in traffic when idling in right turn lane. hazards turned on and coasted to side. pressed power button again and car started. pulled into parking lot. check engine light was on. car powered down again. car started again and drove 10 miles without issue to destination. check engine light stayed on.
While in motion, the rpm are reduced, the car slows down, turns off and a "system check, service now" notice appears in dash board. there is a recall for same escape but 2.5, while this one is 1.3. right now it is at ford dealer for another evaluation.
Engine stopped while driving and said "service engine soon" and was engulfed in flames in five minutes.
Within the last week the vehicle has stalled out and died with zero warning. this is extremely dangerous as i was almost hit from behind.
This has been an issue over the past three months. the latest was yesterday (24 september 2019). the issue occurs once the vehicle has been started, the engine/transmission seems to stutter and will shut down. shutting the engine off, will re-start and it has the same issue. sometimes, it occurs after i have driven 100 feet (or less) and i have to pull over, shut the car down, or it shuts down, and then restart. this might happen 2-3 times before the vehicle seems to drive okay. this condition seems to be getting worse. sometimes, i have to turn the ac off prior to restarting the car.
Car keeps losing coolant. had leaks but were repaired been pressured tested but cant keep coolant car overheats had about 30,000 miles when i bought the car and have had this trouble every since car has 63000 miles now
While driving down the highway the car would lose power, stall out and die! after coasting over to the emergency lane and wanting a few minutes, i would then turning the car off then back on. it would start but i never know when its going to happen again. the car had sufficient fuel and oil, battery connection are tight and clean.
My 2013 ford escape has demonstrated the same problems with the fuel injector (specifically the canister purge valve solenoid) that was part of last fall's focus recall. i had a problem last fall with my car whining, rocking when in stop and go traffic, smelling like burned fuel, and eventually stalling out entirely. last year the car stalled out multiple times initially while stationary, and eventually while in motion. experience was difficult to reproduce as it was sporadic and not consistent. we replaced the canister purge valve last year which resolved the problem, except the replacement part has now failed again a year later while i was sitting in busy rush hour traffic. my car started whining and rocking this morning while i was a stop, turned off the engine, and then i was unable to restart the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes (battery would engage, engine would attempt to turn but wouldn't catch). eventually i was able to start my engine and drive home safely. however i refuse to drive this vehicle again until the part is once again replaced.
Car signals its overheating and shuts down after being shut off for a few minutes its fine. this is dangerous as it happened on a freeway onramp. i have replaced practically the entire cooling system in addition to the recalls ford has done.
Took my 2013 ford escape in for 100,000 mile check up. oil was leaking onto the engine. had this gone unchecked, it could have caused a fire on the engine unexpectedly. very scary.
Vehicle stalls then restarts immediately then stalls again after a short time running, it has done this on 3 separate days now in the last month. it will stall and restart about 3 to 4 times in a row and then drive normally. this concerns me as to a potential accident in traffic waiting to happen. i have had the vehicle scanned and it shows no fault codes. my local.ford dealer says they are at minimum a month out for appointments...... this is not good. ford needs to step up.and stand behind their vehicles. i have seen various websites that have multiple people complaining about the same issue. as i said, ford needs to fix this before people are injured or heaven forbid....killed.
My car has persistent coolant leaking problems. the dealer checked and couldn't find problems. it happens again today with coolant low warning.
Engine coolant kept leaking. notices about 'engine coolant low' were not corrected, even after i had 2 heater hoses replaced, as per the service repair report recommended. this was done, first one hose, costing $485, the light still came on about 4 weeks later, and the second hose was replaced costing ~ $475. even after this, on saturday september 7th, 2019, the engine began making incredible noises and smoke starting coming out from under the hood. i was able to pull over, out of the line of traffic and my granddaughter and i got out immediately! no coolant, no oil and the radiator(/) cap had bubbly 'stuff' in it. i have copies of paperwork that states, " customer states that the 'low engine coolant 'light comes on, over a period of several months. i cannot believe that the ford dealership ...n e v e r.. mentioned that this might be part of a recall, for this exact problem! i consider this fraud by deception. after being told that a new engine would cost me $7,000, ford said they would give me 'financial assistance of $1700, toward the engine cost. i am retired, working a part time job! i cannot afford this, especially since i feel that this was such a well-kept secret by the dealer. obviously, this is the same engine problem that caused nhtsato require a recall on:12v551000 12/03.2012 and recall #12v431000 09/04/2012. this car should have been one of those recalled!! i'm lucky my granddaughter and i weren't killed on a highway, or injured others while on the road, during this fiasco. thank you for any help you can give. i appreciate someone looking out for the consumer.
My 2013 escape randomly stalls. mechanic can't figure out what it is. puts me in a very dangerous situation when i drive it
My check engine light came on and i received an error reading stating my engine coolant is low. i checked coolant and it is full. my car started to stall while i was driving it. i looked up info on this website which mimicked my issues exactly. the ford recall campaign number is 12s41. i called ford motor compay customer relationship center and asked them about my car and explained the problems and how they mimicked the recall listed above. they said my car was not included in that. i informed them that it was a 2013 escape which shows to fall under it and they told me that my car probably didn't get made with the same parts and may have been made at a different time. i will now have to pay out of pocket and i have a hard time doing that since obviously the symptoms mimic the recall. my vehicle is in motion when it stalls out and tells me my system is overheating and to pull over. it is a random thing. it can happen when just started or when i'm driving down the road.
The engine appears to give a false overheat alarm and goes into limp mode soon after engine start. turning engine off and restarting usually clears the overheat alarm and the vehicle operates normally. it will sometimes repeat and could be a problem if this were to happen at an intersection when you need to clear quickly. false overheat issues being reported all over forums with 1.6 engine. mechanic replaced engine coolant temperature sensor and problem persists. no other apparent problems with cooling system were found.
Vehicle continually stalls at idle rendering the car unsafe to drive. the manufacturer has made 3 separate attempts to resolve the issue all to no avail.
I was driving my car on a very busy highway and then the engine failure light came on and my car went into limp mode and stalled out several times while i was driving, this was very unsafe as i had cars going by me as i was stalling out, this could have caused a crash. i took it to the mechanic and he stated that it is a problem with my wiring harness. there is a tsb out but it says that my car was manufactured two months prior then the dates listed for the tsb. there is also a recall for my year make and model in the correct manufacturing dates but i am being told by a ford representative that it isn't my car without them even looking at it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while the contact was entering the vehicle, he noticed that the oil consumption levels were low. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the coolant was leaking. the vehicle was not repaired. sheehy ford of springfield (6727 loisdale rd, springfield, va 22150, (703) 651-1549) was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in a recall; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling) as a possible cause of the failure. the contact went to the hospital for medical attention because he felt sick. the hospital stated that the contact experienced antifreeze poisoning. the failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
Have had car fixed multiple times including replacing entire turbo system however car continues to stall when driving. the entire car will shut off and will not accelerate.
Vehicle has had frequent "engine stalls," where there is hesitation and stumbling with the rpms moving from 1-6 sporadically. frequent power loss with engine, and while driving on the nys thruway, almost caused an accident when vehicle engine light began to flash with major power loss. after this occurred, it was was found by the local ford dealership to require an engine replacement. this vehicle is a 2013 ford escape and had 56,000 miles on it when this occurred. *ln
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that coolant was leaking from the vehicle and additional coolant had to be added. also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who provided a pressure test, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was towed to hall ford newport news (12896 jefferson ave, newport news, va 23608, (877) 398-2216) where it was diagnosed that a pressure test and engine were needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: cas24815719, but no assistance was provided. the contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign numbers: 12v431000 and 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 120,000.
Engine stalls when in low or idle when engine is warm. does t every time i come back out to my vehicle after going somewhere.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle lost power while driving. also, the engine overheated, coolant leaked from the engine, and "coolant overheating' appeared on the instrument panel. the vehicle was driven to thoroughbred ford (8501 n boardwalk avenue, kansas city, mo 64154, 816-505-1818) where it was diagnosed that the cylinder was cracked. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 126,950.
Continued leak of antifreeze now system has drained empty
Vehicle in motion, highway and city speeds, engine is hesitating and stalling when accelerating. 2013 turbo ford escape
Car will rev. high and then shut off.
Mid-day, 91 degrees. car shuddered reversing out of the driveway. no previous problems. i waited and car idled well. i left the neighborhood and turned left into traffic on a five-lane road. i lost acceleration merging from the center turning lane. the vehicle revved, getting fuel, but there was no forward movement, no shuddering, nothing. i moved the vehicle into "sport" mode, in case i had bumped the selector, but it made no difference. traffic honked and swerved around me. i was able to get into the right lane with my hazard lights on. my car shuddered off, completely and i lost power steering just as i completed the maneuver. i restarted my vehicle and the vehicle shuddered to a side-street, where i idled for five minutes and called for assistance. assistance was going to take a long time and i suffer from a medical condition that makes me fragile in the heat. i tested the vehicle on the side streets and it performed. i was able to get the vehicle home slowly.
When i start my car, about 1 out of 10 times it will start but give me an alert that it needs services and will jump and stutter while driving. ford reported it was an issue with the oxygen intake and altitude and reported they fixed it but it is still doing it. this is only right after i start it. if i turn it off and restart will is fine. now is has also started stalling while driving. again if i turn it off and restart it it drives fine. i will be calling ford back tomorrow to have it looked at.
Steady engine light with occasional off/on - overheating - replaced water pump - engine light still on -- water pump blew, car was running. car information systems said "pull over and stop !"
My car keeps stalling. it all started after one random drive of car sitting all night, all of a sudden my temperature gauge went skyrocketing and my car started smoking. and needed coolant which was fine just before all of that happen. after that it will just randomly stall, the oil pressure light will come on and then my battery light. my oil like on my dipstick is skyrocketing even after letting your car sit. something needs to be done i drive to college everyday as well as taking my son to school everyday i cannot have a car where the engine catches on fire or i keep stalling out and then i'm 20 30 minutes late to class
My car constantly stalls. it stalled periodically but i thought well maybe it's was because of how hot it was outside. but that it's the case. i can be at a light stopped, driving down the street/expressway and it'll start to lose stutter and stall out with only the battery light and oil lamp light coming on. sometimes itll start right back up others it has it sit and cool down. even tho my engine isn't reading hot or anything along those lines. everything reads fine. i've taken to multiple shops and finally just 5 days ago to a ford dealer who had my car for almost 3 days and all he could say is it looks like i could possibly have a cracked water pump! they need to do something for us with the 1.6 it seems to be the same exact thing going on with the 2.0. today when my car stalled my oil dipstick was smoking
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and overheated. there was no fire or any warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the manifold gaskets failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. sunbury motor co (943 n 4th st, sunbury, pa 17801, (888) 690-0756) was contacted and stated that an unknown recall was updated in july of 2014. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
Refer to original nhtsa recall 13v583. currently car has 93,00 miles and the #4 cylinder is now leaking coolant and oil. the car stutters and vibrates at start up. the issue has been diagnosed by independent mechanic. repair cost $3,200. this recall was originally cleared by david mcdavid ford, ft. worth in 2014. i contacted ford toll free and they don't feel liable since recall issue was cleared in 2014.
My escape all of a sudden completely stopped accelerating in the middle of driving took it to a ford dealer they said there were no codes the 2013 ford escape 2.0 was recalled for the same reason!!! you need to recall the 1.6 ford escape ecoboost my car litterly did what the recall said was happening
Every time i get gas, the vehicle stalls the first time i try to start it.
The escape has stalled several times. first time it stalled and stopped with no indication of issue on interstate. we were able to get it moved to parking lot after several times waiting for it to start. had car towed to mechanic. the car never stopped for him. we picked it and drove in the morning to church and back with no issues. i drove it in afternoon temp around 85 degrees for about 3 miles. car stopped running with no indication of problem while pulling up to stop light. after about 2 minutes car restarted and quit running again less then 1/4 mile while trying to get off street.i tried replacing ignition relay as noted by several websites but no change. have no idea what is causing the unsafe sudden stalling. car going back to mechanic. this is a very unsafe problem.
