Problems with 2013 Ford Escape POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2013 Ford Escape starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 63 685 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Ford Escape

Every time we come to a complete stop the escape stalls and you need to re-start the car. i've brought to a dealer and they think its the torque convertors which is inside the transmission. some escapes with this same year have been recalled already but when i checked with my dealer they said my has not. they estimated the cost of the fix at $4000.

Transmission failure at 85,000 miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while the vehicle was parked with the engine running, it inadvertently rolled away. the contact grabbed the door handle, but was dragged by the vehicle down the street until it stopped at an incline. the contact sustained multiple bruises on her stomach and injuries to the wrist, humerus, and great toe, which required medical attention. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (county ford, 105 auto park drive, graham, nc 27253, 336-226-6301), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and opened case numbers: [xxx] and [xxx]. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was approximately 61,000. *tt information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I bought the car 09/03/13. on 05/26/16, i was driving home from work & on a parkway as i was accelerating to 45 mph, the engine revved to approximately 6500 rpms without engaging the gear, then shifted. about 15 minutes later, i stopped at a light on a three-lane road (40 mph speed limit). when the light turned green, i pushed the gas pedal and the engine revved but did not engage; i slid backward. i braked to stop from hitting the car behind, let them pass, then turned off the car, as i smelled burning. i turned the car on & pushed the gas pedal until eventually it engaged in first gear & was able to drive enough to get off the road. the car had to be towed to the dealer, where there was a leak found to be due to tsb 3b16-0043. transmission had to be disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt due to high amounts of debris. even after the repair, the car would still shudder intermittently when i shifted from reverse to drive & went to accelerate. on 02/12/18, the transmission failed again while i was in motion at approx. 25 mph in stop & go traffic. i pushed the gas, the transmission didn't respond; the engine just revved. i was still in motion, slowed down, then pushed the gas again & it shuddered then shifted. i pulled over immediately & put the car in park. i tested it by trying to drive forward; the car slid backwards. i didn't push the pedal enough to engage first gear as i didn't want to cause damage. i was again towed to the dealership, and again the transmission needed a teardown, cleaning, & rebuild due to debris. based on both tickets, i believed the center support is a defective part; i learned today there is a new recall, 18v471000, for a bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission. unknown if this is the cause. car is again shuddering when shift r to d then accelerating. i have scheduled an appointment.

When driving down the highway, the vehicle would suddenly lose power and display "engine malfunction". it would sputter but not stall. turning off the vehicle and restarting returned the suv to normal. this occurred 3 more times over the next week. however, on feb 16, the suv did not reset and the check engine came on. the next day, before we took it to a mechanic, the check engine light was off. nonetheless, the mechanic scanned the suv and codes p2101 and p2111 appeared. both codes refer to the electronic throttle body and it being stuck open. ford has had numerous problems with the etb and there is their "consumer satisfaction service #13n03 that addresses the etb flaw. now for the fun part: our vin is not included in the #13n03 "service" though it is a vehicle that fits within the range of the "service" and obviously displays the ebt problem. instead of having the nhtsa mandate a recall, ford was able to negotiate their consumer satisfaction service...which means they determine which etb to replace for free and which ones we have to pay. fox in charge of the hen house. how can i get my vin included in this "service" program? this vehicle is dangerous when it loses power. we have been fortunate in every incident to be able to pull over to the shoulder among highway traffic. (twice passing a semi!)

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while idling at a drive thru window at a restaurant, the vehicle jerked forward and almost crashed into the preceding vehicle. the contact attempted to drive off, but the vehicle stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to north hills automotive (1428 augusta st, greenville, sc 29605, (864) 233-9002) where it was diagnosed that new bushings needed to be installed along with a new transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 153,300.

In the summer when i run the a/c we smell burning smell and the dealership that we bought it from told me to just let it catch fire and then they will look at it, and now that i'm running the heater it starts leaking oil. it smells like oil in my garage now. sometimes while pressing on the gas pedal it doesn't go. friday my engine coolant light came on and then went off and then came back on. i'm not sure what's going on but i want a good look at everything.

Park to reverse: vehicle transmission self engaged from park to reverse. mechanical defect, as a result, the shift control lever could disengage from the transmission without warning. on wed. 12/20/17 at 3:10 p.m. ' i was leaving work i entered my 2013 ford escape & started the vehicle with foot on brake. noticed my front and back windows were covered with snow. engaged the windshield wiper on front window, & realized that the snow was actually frozen ice that needed to be scraped. vehicle was in park position, let up on the brake and there was no movement of the vehicle. scraper in hand, got out of the vehicle to scrape the front windshield. when exiting the vehicle, the vehicle was still in park position/motionless. the vehicle was motionless from the time i exited the vehicle to the time i moved to side of car on driver side, to scrape the front windshield with scraper. i started to scrape my front windshield. after 3-4 scrapes on the front windshield, i noticed that the vehicle starting to move in the reverse direction which was away from where i was standing. i tried to open the door & get into vehicle to apply the brake, however, the door momentum knocked me to the ground & i was dragged by the door of the vehicle as the vehicle was moving in the reverse direction. i was looking at the front wheel as i was being dragged until the car turned enough to release me from the driver side door. the vehicle stopped when its back bumper hit the vehicle front bumper behind it. the was idling, and the vehicle was motionless when i got to it, it did not appear to be driving in reverse but was stationary idling as if it was in park position again. ford case # cas-1377-1943, similiar to recall # 15s28 power train:automatic transmission:gear position indication (prndl) 2001-2009

My 2013 ford escape sel has the 1.6l v6 engine and is saying that it is over heating and giving me a p1299 code. i have replaced the thermostat it still gives me this code. i can let the car sit for several days and turn it on and it will immediately say that it is overheating. i can clear the code out of the system and drive the car for several days to a week with no problems. this issue happen with approximately 98,000 miles on the vehicle. i have researched online and the 2013 ford escape 1.6l engine has a recall on this issue but according to my vin number my vehicle does not have this recall. engine and engine cooling recall number 12v551000. i also have an issue with my vehicle hesitating. i will be driving and the rpms will bounce up and down then it will tell me there is a "transmission failure". after it sends that warning message the vehicle will run fine. i have had this issue since i have purchased the vehicle with approximately 40,000 miles on it at that time. the dealership told me there is nothing they can do about it that ford recall it but there is no way to fix it. again i have researched and they have a recall on this with the 2013 ford escapes but according to my vin my vehicle does not have this recall. electrical system:wiring recall number 15v813000

My info light came on in car saying my engine coolant was low. i filled it 10 days later the same thing happened again. i took it to the mechanic because there were no leaks under my car so i didn't know where the coolant could be going to. the mechanic printed out a recall sheet for the exact problem and tole me i should call the dealer service center. i called and they said there was no recall on my car for that problem. the recall covers my car model, engine size, and manufactured date. i called ford customer service and they said the same thing as the service center. the first recall on this problem didn't include my cars manufactured date, but 3 months later the recall was updated to include more cars and my manufactured date was then included.

2.0 automatic transmission failed at 78,000. new converter and transmission required. vehicle would shudder when traveling at 40-60 mph and pulling up a hill.

While operating vehicle at 60 mph revolutions of engine soared to 4000 rpm's roadway was level then dropped rpm's doid to abt 2000

Just because the vin on this specific 2013 escape doesn't match all the recalls doesn't mean it doesn't have the same issues. i've already had to have the water pump replaced and the transmission rebuilt. there's electrical issues, hvac issues, door issues, delayed acceleration issues, the list goes on and on and on with this vehicle. i reached out to ford and they offered no help. your system only allows me to check three problems.

Initially i had been having issues with the engine light coming on and off. initially when i took the vehicle to be looked at, by the hunt ford in la plata, md. they changed the oxygen sensor. so the light went off. then a few months later in 2016 the light came back on. eventually i started driving on route 5 north and heard a 'pop' noise in the engine area. the vehicle started to lose acceleration and would hesitate. then eventually my check engine light came on and started blinking. prior to the engine light blinking the car begin to misfire, hesitate when trying to accelerate, and the engine would overheat from time to time prematurely. the car would sometimes stall and misfire when trying to accelerate or when sitting idle. when i looked online it shows a recall for these specific issues for the same make, model & year, but not for my specific engine liter. for example, it shows the engine overheating, misfires and engine wiring splices may cause stall for 2013 ford escapes but only for 1.6l. my car is experiencing very similar issues as those listed under the recall, but my engine is a 2.0l. so while on my way home friday, 10/27/2017, i started to have issues with my vehicle. i was traveling on pennsylvania ave towards dc, when i reached an intersection (southern ave), and the car started to jerk and then the engine light started blinking. at one point i began to see white smoke once the engine light started to blink, and smelled fumes. not too long after that began to occur, i make a u-turn at the light and pulled over in front of the funeral home. before i was pulled over on the side of the road (while making the u-turn) the car started to misfire and stall. so i turned the engine off, and called aaa to have it towed. a few days later i had a mechanic come and run a diagnostic on the vehicle at the home. i have attached a copy of their report.

Greetings, i have a ford escape 2013, 2.5 liters, and i almost crashed because the vehicle suffered an electrical malfunction. in the screen of the car it said: "motor damage, turn off". this almost caused me to loose my life, because the car lost all the energy, stopped in the middle of the highway, and the motor was hesitating. i looked for a recall and i found a ford number 14s17-s1 but that recall is for 2.0 liter and my ford escape 2013 is 2.5 which means that it doesn't have the same electrical wire that is recalled from the 2.0. i went to the dealer to find an answer, but the car does this malfunction intermittently and once you turn it back on the code disappears like if nothing would have happened. i took the paper of the recall to the dealer and they said that they cant do anything because the code disappeared and my car doesn't have the same system of the 2.0 liter.

I was driving on a freeway at 65mph and the engine cuts out to an idle. the check engine light came on. i almost got rear ended getting the car over to the side of the road since it lost all power. after pulling over i was able to start the car as the light went out. this happened 3 more times where the car would cut out to a rough idle, these occurred while i was on city streets but almost caused 1 accident as it cut out. after shutting the car off it would restart with no issue. this last time the car had to be towed to planet ford to be repaired. they said it was a throttle body issue and it cost me over 700 for the repair even though it is still under the powertrain warranty. i do not see why this has not been recalled due to the car being unsafe to drive and i do not know why the replacement of the part alone will not cause further stalls of this vehicle. i have found other people with the same issue where the car goes into "limp home" mode. i am currently having the car repaired or i would be able to attach the invoice for the throttle body repair.

2013 escape developed coolant leak. i saw online where this problem was a recall. when i took it in to the dealership they informed me that even though mine has the same problem my vin# is not included in this recall! if ford motor company knows they have this problem with this vehicle why are they not all covered? how many have to catch fire? also, they also tell me i have an oil leak in the turbo. i have never seen any evidence of an oil leak in this vehicle.

While operating vehicle at approx 55 mph vehicle revolutions raced up to abt 6000 rpms. as attempting to accelrate to a higher interstate speed.. while operating on interstate 90

While operating on interstate 90 ewd engine rpms went from abt 3000 rpm's to 5000 rpm, while attempting to accerlate from abt 65 mph to 70 mph.

While driving on a highway with the cruise control set at 70 mph (speed limit), the engine on my car suddenly and without warning cut out. a message of 'your vehicle is not in park' appeared. i was able to make my way onto the berm of the road, close to an exit on the highway with the car's momentum. the car's engine was not running. i put the car in park, waited a moment to calm my nerves, and then restarted the car. i was able to get home, holding my breath the entire time, uncertain whether i would encounter the same problem. cause of the problem - unknown. i have an appointment tomorrow at the ford dealership where it was purchased. twice before, this car was taken to the dealership because of a problem with accelerating from a stopped position. the car would "buck" as if it wasn't getting any fuel. the second visit resulted in no action from the service dept. as they could not recreate the issue. i asked specifically about codes from the car's computer, but was told there weren't any. i found this surprising because i drove directly to the dealership when this problem happened and the "check engine" message was on the entire trip there.

Vehicle never shifted correctly. complained to dealer numerous times. transmission failed at 104000 miles. vehicle broke down on major interstate 100 miles away from home. had the vehicle towed to nearest dealer. cost to repair was 5000+

While accelerating vehicle on a highway on ramp, studdered, acted like issues going from 1st gear to 2nd gear. unknown if power train isue or fuel/engine issue. was looked at by shop same day problem would not reoccur..

First complaint is the internal door panels do not properly fit and come loose becoming caught on the frame of the car not allowing you to open the door to exit the vehicle which is highly dangerous in an emergency. 2) the shift selector switch broke as my spouse was driving the car not allowing him to shift the car into park or shut it off. this is highly dangerous and quite common a mechanics told us.

I was sold the car with a defective fuel pump and never warned that it needed to be recalled, therefore, i have been driving it for over a year with the possibility of it starting on fire. also, recently the power train went on my car almost exactly one month after the warranty was up. after researching this issue it has come to my attention that many other ford escape owners have experienced this exact issue. i was even told by one mechanic that this is a known issue with ford escapes amongst mechanics. when the car is in motion it "clunks" and does not shift properly. i am concerned for the safety of others who may be driving these cars without the knowledge that there is something wrong with it.

My transmission failed in june, it was rebuilt and has already started to shift hard. so, once again back in the shop. the a/c has been acting funny. the rear vents barely work, blend door doesnt engage properly. dealer has another vehicle identical to mine and it does the same thing.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, shook, and sputtered. eventually, the shifter became stuck in the neutral position. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shift cable fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. the local dealer was not notified. the failure mileage was 102,000.

Vehicle was driven away from a mechanics shop for a fly wheel repair. after approx. mile of driving, the temperature warning light illuminated without the gauge showing a high temperature. i stopped at a red light. when the light turned green, no matter how i pressed on the accelerator, the car would not accelerate over 5 miles an hour. i had to navigate across 3 lanes of traffic to get to the side of the road. it drove for less than 50 ft then the engine completely shut off forcing me to push the car into a parking lot. mechanics came, looked over the car then it started normally. they drove it back to the shop and hooked it to a computer but no codes were thrown. we could not recreate the issue. we decided to file a complaint because of our concern over all the blogs found online referencing the same issue. this could potentially be very hazardous if it happens on a highway which could result in bodily injury. this comes after this vehicle has been in the shop for over 4 months in the 8 months we have owned it for many issues including transmission, transmission bracket, transmission plug failure, wiper motor, fly wheel and a sensor issue.

Had to rebuild transmission and lost power steering . the cruise control does not work also

Vehicle was in drive, the engine was making a noise and after applying the brake for a turning car in front of me, i went to apply the gas and it would not accelerate. i put the vehicle in park, while on a state road and then moved the gear shift into drive and got it to a garage about two blocks away from the incident. shut the vehicle off and one of their mechanics took it for a drive, came back and said nothing was wrong. so i got in the car and about 3 to 4 miles up the road, it started acting up again. i took it to the dealership that i purchased it from and after replacing a water pump, coolant level sensor and axle seal, they told me it was fixed, so i went to pick it up. after i paid $822.08 for the bill, i drove the vehicle a block and the incident occurred again, so i drove it back to the dealership and told them that they didn't fix the original problem that i brought it in for. they contacted me that it is something in the transmission, which is very expensive. now i am left with a year of car payments on a vehicle that isn't drivable. it doesn't appear that ford or the dealership is going to stand behind a defective product. the vehicle has never been driven off road or abused, actually i have taken it faithfully for all recall repairs and servicing needs.

2013 ford kuga 60,000 km. automatic transmission. engine stalls at random while driving. stalls both at high and low speeds. has been into dealer for service for two months, for the first 7 weeks they "could not fix it because they could not find an error code". after i drove it in a circle around the dealer for hours i was able to show them the problem and they obtained an error code, 'solenoid'. ford says "maybe just replace whole transmission because we're not sure of the problem"

2013 ford escape sel stalling when accelerating from a stop. this has happened several times with my wife driving the car. we've taken it into the local ford dealership only to be told they cant replicate issue. driving the car to work today (my wife now drives my car for safety concerns), the escape hesitated when pulling out of the parking lot and onto the road. have another appointment to have it looked at but will probably be told that it can't be replicated. this car only has 60k miles and is totally worthless, and unsafe to drive.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that the low coolant and check engine indicators illuminated. the dealer diagnosed that the coolant was leaking into the engine. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 90,000.

Vehicle was in drive and suddenly lost power. the accelerator was pressed but the vehicle stopped driving forward even though the engine was running. the engine did not rev. the dash light indicating the transmission disappeared. the vehicle suddenly jumped into gear so hard i suffered whiplash. it did this several times as i attempted to get clear of heavy traffic. i literally thought i had been rear ended at one point as the car jolted so hard. after getting out of the roadway, the transmission failure service now light came on. this is consistant with the pcm wiring harness recall done on other 2013 escapes but was not covered for my particular vehicle. the jolts to the vehicle kicking in gear destroyed the transmission. i was in motion at the time, in bumper to bumper traffic. i was lucky not to strike or be hit by another vehicle. i have contacted ford but they state my car was not covered under that recall and that they will not help me.

Loss of power trun car off waite few mins star up run find till next time push on gas padal norting happen

My car started acting up when the check engine light came on. it has run at lower speeds , sputtering and seems to have loss of power while driving in local conditions no more than 15 miles or so. i called ford where i purchased the vehicle, and they offered to tow it. at first they made it seem like everything is covered, and now its 2 weeks later after them telling me its some sort of sensor that needs to be replaced and the cost is 1100 dollars, the car is 3 years old with 30000 miles on it , they will not fix the car until payment is made. it seems that its an issue they should have to fix on there dime not mine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled, the steering wheel locked, and the vehicle was unable to shift into neutral. the engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had a gasket issue. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to the dealer again where it was diagnosed that it needed coolant. the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to the dealer again. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. once the vehicle was shifted into gear, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power. the vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission shifted independently into neutral, rolled down a hill, and into the driveway. the vehicle was restarted and driven to the dealer, but the failure was not duplicated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000. updated 01/04/17*lj consumer stated transmission started shifting. updated 7/10/18*jb *tr

Purchased used 07/27/16 and since then, on three occasions while going up small inclines the vehicle acted as though it slipped out of gear and started and the motor started to rev up, as if i had floored the gas peddle. after pulling to the roadside, the engine slowed down to normal rpm's after about 5 seconds, so i put the vehicle in park and back into drive and it seemed to be ok again. on the third incident it did the same thing seemingly slipping out of gear and throttled way up, however this time a display showed engine fault, and when i tried to take off again the vehicle sputtered like it was going to die until i brought it to a stop and turned off the motor. when i restarted the message was gone and the vehicle has been running fine for a couple of days now. i had it tested to see if any diagnostic codes were stored, but it showed none. it took about 30 days for it to act up between the first and second incident, but only a week from the second to the third incident. ford doesn't seem to have any answers, unless a code shows up in the module, however that has not happened.

Transmission/shifter linkage breaks easily leaving vehicle in or out of gear. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving various speeds, the windshield sensor failed to function. the failure recurred numerous times. in addition, while driving 60 mph and changing gears, the vehicle lost power and stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the electronic sensor and transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

Purchased used 2013 ford escape vehicle with approximately 33k miles in october of 2014. purchased extended warranty as warranty was due to expire at 36k miles. a week or two after purchase, car stalled. in the shop it went. several months later check engine light came on. in the shop it went again. multiple times later car has been in the shop again for same "check engine light" for 2-3 weeks at a time; transmission replaced twice. the car was back in shop again last week for same issue check engine light this time dealer claims purge valve issue.

Intermittent check engine light (happens when in park or when driving). hooked up to code reader and got p026b7; found online that the the engine coolant bypass valve is defective, but not recalled (tsb 13-02-15). dealer confirms code and that engine coolant bypass valve is defective and should be replaced but referenced tsb 16-0052. despite the part being so defective it has been discontinued, redesigned, and replaced the dealer claims it isn't covered under any form of warranty.

Since august 2015-april 14, 2016 i have taken my vehicle to the ford service department four times due to reduction of engine power/engine overheating warning. my ford was subject to the recall and serviced in aug 2015. in january 2016 and twice in april 2016 i have had the same issue with engine reduction/vehicle heating gauge idle on hot/the vehicle sputters and rides extremely hard until you can come to a complete stop. all incidents have happened while driving in traffic and once on the interstate. when it happened on the interstate i barely made it to the shoulder as i had to try and cross a lane of passing vehicles to do so. i do not feel that ford has adequately found a fix for this huge and dangerous problem and i do not know if a consumer has to be killed first for them to look at it and suggest a fix that is viable to the problem. i am fearful to even drive my ford due to the is problem since it only happens when the vehicle is in motion. i am requesting that you please review this for all of the consumers that ford continues to sell these automobiles too.

Looses power, unable to accelerate even when gas pedal pushed to floor. it's been to the dealer twice. no problems detected. unable to duplicate. seems to occur while driving various speeds 55-45 mph, city driving, stop and go traffic. usually occurs after a stop/go traffic lights, right hand turns. occurred after first time between 25k?-30k miles. 2013 ford escape 1.6 ecoboost engine.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving approximately 45 mph, the transmission downshifted and the engine warning indicator illuminated. the failure recurred five times while driving at various speeds. the dealer serviced the transmission, but the failure recurred immediately after the repair. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 1,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford escape. while accelerating to approximately 5 mph from a stop sign, the vehicle stalled. the "engine fault service now" warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was turned off and restarted. while driving, the engine lost power and the transmission shook severely. the contact stopped again and waited approximately one minute then the vehicle started normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. the failure recurred three times in one week. the vehicle was repaired under warranty by the dealer the first time the failure occurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 45,121. ...updated 04/19/16 *bf *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would shift hard and a warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the details of the diagnosis could not be provided. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that the windshield wiper fractured while the vehicle was being repaired. after the windshield wiper was repaired, the windshield was fractured by the dealer. the contact stated that the vehicle continued to shift hard after the repair. while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle would stall. the vehicle was shut off and turned back on, and the vehicle returned to normal. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. also, while pulling into a parking spot, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle stalled after moving three feet. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.

Escape 2013 awd 77,000 miles. internal mechanical problems affecting the differential. the transmission fluid is burn't. the transmissions slips in every gear, eventually putting itself in to neutral. a well established, local aaa recommended transmission shop owner states only one option; replacing the transmission at a cost of $4,800. further, stated the problem was something that had been building up for quiet some time and that it's some sort of defect. worst case scenario, transmissions fails due to defect causing an accident. it has had 2 major repairs since i purchased it new from the dealership in 2013 totalling over $2,500. $2,500 + $4,800 = $7,300 for a vehicle only 2 years old. this model needs to thoroughly investigated before someone gets hurt or possibly killed.
