Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford Escape

This is the tenth time that the coolant system lights come on and the the car stalls out and will only go approximately 5 miles per hour. this happened this time with a car behind me that almost crashed into me he had ti hit his breaks and go across a double line into oncoming traffic lanes to keep from hitting me, blessedly there was no oncoming traffic. i was driving the vehicle. now it won"t stay charged even with a new battery. as soon as i turn the motor off the car is dead until i charge it again. it runs from point a to b but if you turn it off it is completely dead and the key wont work or anything

When started, vehicle displays 'power steering assist failure-requires service' warning and power steering is lost. this has happened three times over the course of two days. it does not happen every time the car is started, it just randomly happens. i drove home last night from work with no power steering, and along with this issue my usb ports would not charge my phone. my phone recognized that it was plugged in, but not enough power was being supplied to actually charge it. i'm nit sure if that is linked with the power steering module, but i've never had that issue before all of this mess.

My car has the same problem as the recall 14s17-s1 except my engine is the 1.6l and they won't fix it. i started my car after work and the engine fault service engine soon light came on. i tried to drive it but there was no power and was wanting to die so i parked it and called a tow truck. it is the map harness wiring.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving the vehicle suddenly shut off in the middle of traffic. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as the electrical system wiring. the vehicle was then taken to the campbell ford lincoln, inc. (2801 s 11th st, niles, mi 49120) where diagnostic testing determined that the failure was related to the security system and key fob. they stated that another key needed to be made. the issue recurred and the vehicle has been back to the dealer for a month with no fix yet for the issue. the manufacturer just stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. the failure mileage was 117,653.

The car suddenly stalls while driving for many times. the kings ford dealer couldn't fix the problem. it is a very dangerous problem.

While driving down the highway ( us 82 in texas), there were flames seen coming from underneath the vehicle. a separate vehicle pulled up beside our 2013 ford escape, and yelled that the car was on fire. my son quickly pulled over, and he and his mother quickly got out of the vehicle and backed away from it. a fire truck came and put out the fire, but the car is a total loss. my wife was also treated for smoke inhalation on site, and later had to go to the hospital because she was still having problems breathing. i have checked the vin on our vehicle, but there was no recall on our vin. after research, i see that there has been other fire issues with other vins. i believe our situation needs to be looked at, because the recall may need to be expanded. we are currently upside down on our car note, and will loose about $4,000 out of pocket. i believe our issue could be related to issues others have had within the recalled vin's. this happened on friday november 15th near sherman, texas.

Me and my dad had brought this 2013 ford escape with warranty on august 20, 2018 at don davis nissan it had 70,093 miles on the truck the sales man name mr. freeman was the one who had sold us this truck he had this truck was at don davis nissan for a week the salesman mr. freeman told me and my dad that the reason the truck had took long because they were doing work to it to make sure that everything on it would be ok before they brought it too me and my dad. so we had the truck for about two weeks and everything on their was good until september 5 2018 the check engine light had came on i told my dad what happen he told me to take it back up their to don davis nissan i took back up to them they tested and they came back and told me that the turbo charge needs fixing and it was going to be $500 dollars so when i told my dad he told the people at don davis nissan that why should we have to pay for something out of his pockets when we have warranty on this truck and we just gotten this truck so my dad was pissed because we just gave don davis $500 and i looked on the internet and i seen were they a had a recall on this truck so i went out their to don davis nissan and told them this and they come telling me that my truck doesn't have a recall and i told them like how do you know what i have and i seen on the internet that the same thing that the other customers who had a recall on their truck and as i look at the comments and i seen the same thing happening to my truck like for example the electrical system engine to wear my truck overheats to wear i hardly drive it sometimes i do because i go to school and to my doctor and run errands for my mother or father. and i been telling don davis nissan since last and now and they acted like they don't want to help me but always be lying to me and my dad i have been telling don davis nissan this and they straight ignore ...

Car caught fire while being driven

2013 ford escape sel 08/12 stalling problems. stalled 4 times on a busy state highway. hesitated to restart then would stall out again. this has been going on for months. calling ford dealer tomorrow to see if it's civered under recall due to being bought used from a dealer

Car shut off in traffic when idling in right turn lane. hazards turned on and coasted to side. pressed power button again and car started. pulled into parking lot. check engine light was on. car powered down again. car started again and drove 10 miles without issue to destination. check engine light stayed on.

The vehicle stutters and dies upon restart; after being heat soaked from a long drive (highway for a hour). vehicle throws random codes related to pcm does not do so consistently. appears to be a problem with wires related to pcm

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. when the contact attempted to park the vehicle, the gear shifter failed and remained in neutral. the contact was unable to release the shifter out of neutral. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shifter cable failed. the shifter cable was replaced. the contact also advised that the battery had to be replaced because the navigation screen remained on due to the gear failure. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 122,000.

While driving down the highway the car would lose power, stall out and die! after coasting over to the emergency lane and wanting a few minutes, i would then turning the car off then back on. it would start but i never know when its going to happen again. the car had sufficient fuel and oil, battery connection are tight and clean.

I was driving my children to school. i was pulling on to our main road a highway from a stop sign and the engine shutoff. i was able to start it and drive it about a block when it happened again. this happen a total of 4 times. each of these times i was left with my 2 children in a stalled car in the middle of traffic. it is a miracle we did not get hit or hurt in any way. when i was finally able to start it enough and maneuver us out of traffic and danger, we were then stranded on the side of the road. the first time we were turning onto the highway, all other time we were in motion on the highway. we had ran the code with a mechanic and it was a fuel connector error.

My check engine light came on and i received an error reading stating my engine coolant is low. i checked coolant and it is full. my car started to stall while i was driving it. i looked up info on this website which mimicked my issues exactly. the ford recall campaign number is 12s41. i called ford motor compay customer relationship center and asked them about my car and explained the problems and how they mimicked the recall listed above. they said my car was not included in that. i informed them that it was a 2013 escape which shows to fall under it and they told me that my car probably didn't get made with the same parts and may have been made at a different time. i will now have to pay out of pocket and i have a hard time doing that since obviously the symptoms mimic the recall. my vehicle is in motion when it stalls out and tells me my system is overheating and to pull over. it is a random thing. it can happen when just started or when i'm driving down the road.

When entering the screen shows powering off to conserve battery. lights go off and steering wheel and start button lock up. this issue occurred two weeks ago and the battery then would not charge. bought a new battery from dealer and now the problem is repeating. 32,000 miles and no accidents. parked in garage both times.now 9/26/19

Vehicle continually stalls at idle rendering the car unsafe to drive. the manufacturer has made 3 separate attempts to resolve the issue all to no avail.

I was driving my car on a very busy highway and then the engine failure light came on and my car went into limp mode and stalled out several times while i was driving, this was very unsafe as i had cars going by me as i was stalling out, this could have caused a crash. i took it to the mechanic and he stated that it is a problem with my wiring harness. there is a tsb out but it says that my car was manufactured two months prior then the dates listed for the tsb. there is also a recall for my year make and model in the correct manufacturing dates but i am being told by a ford representative that it isn't my car without them even looking at it.

Engine stalls when in low or idle when engine is warm. does t every time i come back out to my vehicle after going somewhere.

The transmission shift cable wore down and broke off several ford escapes are already recalled for this but mine is not on the list. my vehicle was in motion when this happened on a city street and would not continue to move i have 2 small children and i am pregnant this was a very unsafe situation

Engine & transmission operating erratically and engine shutting off going down highway. also check engine light came on.

My car keeps stalling. it all started after one random drive of car sitting all night, all of a sudden my temperature gauge went skyrocketing and my car started smoking. and needed coolant which was fine just before all of that happen. after that it will just randomly stall, the oil pressure light will come on and then my battery light. my oil like on my dipstick is skyrocketing even after letting your car sit. something needs to be done i drive to college everyday as well as taking my son to school everyday i cannot have a car where the engine catches on fire or i keep stalling out and then i'm 20 30 minutes late to class

Radio made a long banging sound on ovation for about 2 weeks. then occasionally the radio would make loud crackling and popping. car would need restarted to reset. eventually radio stopped working and car would need restarted, mixed in with crackling and popping issues intermittently. now the radio just won't work no matter if you restart the car or not. the loud banging sound and loud popping can starrtle a driver. the radio not working should be under a recall, but currently is not. happens moving and stationary. has happened on city streets and highway, all issues.

My escape all of a sudden completely stopped accelerating in the middle of driving took it to a ford dealer they said there were no codes the 2013 ford escape 2.0 was recalled for the same reason!!! you need to recall the 1.6 ford escape ecoboost my car litterly did what the recall said was happening

Informational display behind steering started flickering and now does not light up so i cannot see mileage or anything else thats going on with vehicle. i have attached a pic of what my display shld look like, however the middle display in my vehicle is black, nothing will display. the flickering started last month and now my display is completely black/blank

While driving in morning rush hour (bumper to bumper) traffic on the highway, my vehicle died. the check engine and battery light came on and it took several attempts for it to start again. i had my battery replaced a month ago and the alternator checked with no issues.

Having issue with engine harness-almost go into accident twice- my car is not under recall however all other ford escapes in 2013 were under recall for engine wiring/harness. i got it fixed at ford for a cost of $1000.00. 2 weeks later i was traveling to another state and it happened again, almost got into accident due to this issue! this should be included in the recall that you already made for all the other 2013 escapes! car was moving then started to buck and slow downm, almost stall-then wouldnt move, all lights came on...

Cars transmission failed with only 33,000 miles on the car! i think there is an electrical problem with the car because the battery and the internal components failed at the same time! both times i was driving the car and moving forward when the car stalled out both times, the second time i had just left ford with the vehicle and they said it was fixed when it stalled out again in forward motion, this time i had the car towed back to ford and it's been sitting there since april 13th and today is may 1st and ford has not responded back to me to resolve the issues with the car? i had the car towed to a transmission place on 4/30/2019 that is only charging me $3,100 for a rebuilt transmission with a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty and ford wanted $7,400 to put a rebuilt transmission in the car? hmmmmm what would you do? customer service at ford is sloooooow to say the least? it's bad enough i've got a car with only 33,000 miles on it and with an internal transmission issue and than ford wants me to wait until when to respond back with a solution?

Car stalled several times while going about 10-15 mph and this is about the tenth time this has happened in several days.

Car stalls somewhat after starting up. rpms go towards zero.

Display cluster does not work. everything went out. fuse not blown. safety issue. car runs fine.

My escape likes to stall going like 10 mph. the vehicle starts to hestistate and wont go anywhere. it stalls and like it shutting off with the oil light and the battery light comes on. i restart the vehicle and it does it again like it dont want to move. it stalls like three to four times and it would run like normal. it's very dangerous cause it stalled right in the middle of a intersection. if there was cars coming which i was lucky i wasn't i would had hit on both sides. this is not normal for a car to do this. no one knows what is wrong with my vehicle and this is a very safety issue. it is to a point where i am scare driving my escape cause of this issue. the stalling and hesitation issue. i was in motion when this does this. you can having idle and it wont stall only when you put it in drive. the turbo is also losing power when this does this.

After parking for 20 minutes or less, i begin driving and lose acceleration and my gas pedal won't work. i end up coming to a stop and stalling. this sometimes happens again after i restart my vehicle. my oil light and battery light come on when it comes to a complete stop/stall. this is a huge safety issue. i took it to two mechanics and since there isn't anything to diagnose (no check engine light, fluid levels normal), nothing can be done. need help please. honestly frightened for my safety.

Car has continued to stall.= repair was done and splices were replaced in bulliten and test drive. appears to be like recall on my vehicle but manufactured earlier in 2013. seeking reimbursement from ford

I've had a 2013 ford escape in for service for the same mechanical issue more than a half-dozen times. the vehicle would stall and engine shut down unexpectedly while driving on the highway, often on major highways at speeds at or over 40mph; this has happened nationwide and has been reported in over a thousand complaints. this is a dangerous, hazardous defect. i have been forced to pay for the repairs for this ongoing consistent dangerous defect. i have repair records documenting all of the problems and ongoing failure to correct this same issue. my vehicle should have been part of the recall for stalling issues. this is a safety defect and ford should be held responsible. view the posted link nhtsa has probed the problem. chapman ford in northeast philadelphia knowingly sold this vehicle aware of the problem. the dealership will not acknowledge it. ford corporation denies recall for my vehicle. i lodged a complaint with the ftc and with the pennsylvania consumer protection agency. ford will wait to be liable when somebody gets hurt or killed on a highway when the 2013 ford escape stalls out loses power. i have reported this to ford, they deny this safety issue. beware of the 2013 ford escape. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/ford-escape-investigation-targets-stalling-problem

The information panel on my suv is starting to get dark or shall i say it goes slightly dark. i cannot see mileage and can barely see that my lights are on. sometimes there are white lights going up and down on screen

The car quit in the middle of traffic (no warning) ford motor says its in the wiring harness (many recalls on this same problem (replacing the map sensor does not help) this car needs a recall! this is a 2013 with less than 40,000 miles.

Was driving car on paved road and car quit running restarted car and check engine light came on

The engine will stall while driving. it has been doing it after being off for 0-60 minutes. i won't be able to accelerate and then the car starts shaking and shuts down.

The vehicle is stalling. in motion, typically just after applying gas or while slowing down to a stop. firestone auto repair stated that the alternator was producing high voltage and causing issue with the battery. they repalced the alternator and battery, but the issue still remains.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal noise upon starting. in addition, the check engine indicator randomly illuminated and there was a constant loss of motor power upon starting the vehicle. the dealer (sunrise ford of north hollywood, 5500 lankershim blvd, los angeles, ca 91601, (877) 510-8967) was notified of the failures; however, the dtc was not present to replicate the failures. the vehicle was serviced by an unknown dealer for a failure regarding the throttle body prior to being repaired by ford of north hollywood. the unknown dealer inspected the vehicle, but was unable to determine a remedy to repair the throttle body failure. an independent mechanic diagnosed that the fuel line hose fractured onto the intake manifold near the engine, which caused fumes from the engine and fuel system to enter the cabin of the vehicle. the independent mechanic tested the vehicle and was to provide further technical guidelines to the vehicle owner. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v813000 (electrical system), 14v495000 (electrical system), 13v584000 (engine and engine cooling), and 12v336000 (engine and engine cooling), as well as nhtsa action number: pe18007 (engine and engine cooling). the vehicle was not repaired and was unable to be driven due to the failures. the manufacturer was contacted to address the multiple failures as well as the two service campaigns (field service action number: 12m02 and 14n02 that had not been received by mail from the manufacturer. the failure mileage was not available.

Electrical fire in engine compartment. car was parked for 10 minutes started smoking and then caught fire. totaled car. had recently had check engine light come on and say warning high temp. stop safely. took to ford they said it was a sensor on backorder. told me the car was not really overheating

Car ecelerates on its on, transmisin jerks when u put it in gear after disengaging the hand break, rolling while in park with engine off, transmission jerks when charging from 1st to 2nd gear especially when pulling a hill. brakes not holding properly; i almost rolled back into a car today. check engine light randomly comes on & stays on. omw tl the shop to have a diagnostic done it goes back off.

After driving car 30 minutes then parking for 15-20 minutes upon restarting car & moving into traffic the car stutters then stalls. originally was intermittent problem now is a daily occurrence. taking car to mechanic today to get a diagnostic done. 1/25/2019.

My escape has stalled 2-3 times within a 12 hour window while moving. i was able to stop in the parking lot and re-start the vehicle.

Information display panel went out this is a problem cause cannot renew registration and insurance without mileage and cannot know whats going wrong with car

The car hesitate or the engine stall soon after starting, if you don't drive off immediately the car will shut off and has to be restarted. this happens on cold starts but mostly after the car has been running.

Car is completely dead when it rains and it takes several try's and it finally starts. going down the road all dash lights including radio goes out and the off and on. this happens when it rains. when going down the road the car will shut off and then start back up. happens on city and hwy. his has been happening for about 4 months now.

Takata recall: while my vehicle is in motion the heat is coming out normal but will start to smell like something was burning but as i slow down or come to a complete stop the car starts blowing very cool then the tempature gage moves to h then the safety light pops on showing "overheating stop safely" but the car will never show any smoking from the hood. the car has been doing this for the past month until 12/17/2018 i started the car up to warm it before i left work, and it wouldn't defrost and immediately the temperature gage moved to h and on the dash it said overheating stop safely and the car wasn't in motion neither had it warmed up properly but when the light went off i was able to drive , as i approached my destination the car started slowing down on its own and the safety light came on again that's when the burning smell started getting stronger and it wouldn't let me give the car gas to go the odometer wouldn't move pass 5miles so i stopped the car and shut it off, but then when i started it up again before work the car would allow me to shift gears but not give it gas due to the car saying it's is overheating but the vehicle has never had a leak and has not physically showed leaking on to the ground i have had oil and fluids changed by professionals and authorized dealerships like valvoline and where i purchased the car and nothing was ever reported to me of a leak any where but somehow my coolant reservoir is staying empty after being refilled. i believe the only place the fluid could be leaking is within the motor because i have parked the car in several dry spot and it showed absolutely no leaking signs.

I will be driving my car and randomly my car stalls and the engine seizes and the car shuts off. i can turn it off and back on but it continuously happens, it has happened in traffic before and i've had to avoid multiple accidents. also if my car is idle for 3-5 minutes and on it also will stall and again i have to turn it off and back on.
