Problems with 2011 Ford Escape FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2011 Ford Escape starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 54 270 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2011 Ford Escape

While driving on my morning work commute i was stunned when my 2011 ford escape just became unresponsive and was coasting on a 5 lane freeway doing 65 mph. i really did not know what was going on since the only signal that could classify a problem was the little wrench light at the bottom left of the dashboard that was on. i did not do anything out of the ordinary, and i did not notice anything out of the ordinary with the ride. my observations - rpms dropped below 1,000, speed was coasting but dropping since there was no acceleration, electrical was on, steering was sluggish like something was wrong, and a small shaking of the vehicle occurred. the only thing i could do is put my blinker to move to the shoulder but my fellow commuters did not respect that very well. so i promoted my desired to get off the freeway by turning my hazard emergency lights and that's when they started to move away from me to get to the shoulder. my experience did rattle me since i felt hopeless in a sense that i wanted to hit the brake and remembered that i was on a freeway which would be really bad. after pulling over to the shoulder i did manage to turn the vehicle off completely pull the key out and give it about a minute. after i started it up again i figured it was a single occurrence, which i was wrong when it happened again on the way home but i was down the street from my house.

My vehicle stalled twice yesterday while going though busy intersections and the wrench light came on. i would pull over at a super slow speed and then turn the car off and back on. finding this rare for a well maintained 2 year old vehicle, i looked up "escape stalling" on google and found a plethora of complaints. i took it to the dealer today and mentioned what was happening with the car and what i had seen on the internet and he didn't give any credence to it. i am still waiting for a diagnosis and hope the problem can be repaired. luckily there was no one behind me either time...but this could have easily been a very nasty accident because there is no warning that the car is going to stall. notes: i purchased the vehicle in nj february 2011

While driving on the highway, my suv jerked slightly and then just decelerated, and i could not maintain speed. i had to cross over 3 lanes to the side of the road and turned the suv off. there was no warning, and i had not applied the break. i noticed the wrench light came on the dashboard. i waited a minute and turned the suv on again. i was able to get to my destination, however, during this trip, the suv jerked slightly again, but this time there was a slight acceleration. i was able to maintain a safe speed for the remainder of the trip, as it only lasted for a couple seconds. i contacted the service department of the dealership where i purchased the car and where i regularly take the car for maintenance. the serviceman knew exactly what the problem was when i described the problems i was having. he suggested i bring the car in for service as soon as possible. the car was towed to the dealership, and they replaced the electronic throttle. i was told it was not covered under warranty, but since i had an extended warranty, they would only charge me $100.00. when i picked up the car, i actually paid $106.00, and i was never informed that this was a recalled part. i should not have been charged anything, as ford was well aware that this part was defective and have been for many months now.

While driving down the highway my vehicle went straight to limp mode with no warning at all. i had to pull to the side of the highway while traffic was stopping behind me and trying to pass me. a wrench light and check engine light came on and i could not throttle my vehicle at all. i cut the ignition off, let it sit a minute and cranked it again. the problem went away. this has happened numerous times the last 2 days. it has happened while trying to go through intersections and while turning across traffic. the diagnostics at advanced auto shows throttle body stuck open. this is a very dangerous situation that seems to be happening to a lot of these vehicles.

My daughter was entering an intersection preparing to turn left. when she got enough of a clearing between vehicles to turn she went to accelerate to go thru with the left turn and she had no gas to go. the peddle hit the floor and the car died. she was able to coast thru the light with out being hit. but after that the car had to be towed home. we had to replace the throttle body on the vehicle. she was very lucky not to be in a serious crash because of this part going bad! *tr

The car stopped responding to the gas pedal as i was merging into traffic. i pulled over, turned the car off and waited 15 minutes. i turned it back on, had the same behavior when i tried pulling out of the parking lot. i had to toe the vehicle to the dealership. the mechanic knew right away what the issue was, mentioning that it was common. the dealer replaced the throttle body and charged a $100 premium to use my warranty, despite it being a "known" issue.

Engine speed became unsteady, rising and falling despite steady, even pressure on throttle pedal. soon after, the engine would die after returning to idle following a stop. not long after that, unsteady engine speed became more noticeable both at idle and while driving. *tr

Traveling at 40mph yielding onto an entrance ramp and the car just dies with no warning. stop the car and it started back up. drove it for another day with no problems and two days later it died againg trying to accelerate. it has since repeated this 4 times.

Traveling in a highway, car suddenly decelerates and engine slows to about 800 rpm. the car engine does not shut off but pressing on accelerator has no effect on engine speed and the car will not move forward. putting it in park or neutral has no effect either. i was able to turn the engine off using ignition switch and when i turned it back on the throttle operated normally. from the first time the incident has occurred it has repeated itself every few days with repeats getting more often. i was out of state when it occurred so had to return home to get car repaired. waiting on appointment now. *tr

I was driving at about 35mph and half way up a slit hill when the check engine and wrench light came on and the engine lost power. i quickly put my hazards on, stopped and restarted the car. luckily it started right up and i was able to move because i was on the down slop of the hill and other cars could not see me right away.

Pulling onto a exit ramp, lost throttle response, rpms were erratic 1000. was able to off to the side, turned engine off, waited a few minutes, restarted. drove another 2 or so miles, same issue, but now with engine light on and wrench light on. after another wait and restart, same result. three failures in 7 miles. upon arriving home, i used my obd code reader to pull a "p2112) fault code. i purchased and replaced the throttle plate controller,($350.00) that evening from my local ford dealer. so far, a week later (knock on wood), have not had another occurrence. btw the replacement ford part is a different updated part.

I was traveling on interstate at 65-70 mph, when my escape's rpm's all of a sudden dropped to 1 and would not react to the gas pedal, luckily i was in the slow lane and managed to coast off the interstate. there was an 18-wheeler behind me and i started to panic at the speed he was gaining on me. i finally managed to get my hazards on to notify him that i was having issues. if i had not have been in the slow lane i would not have been able to get off the interstate before the car stopped completely. this is very dangerous, if i had been in the far left lane or the middle lanes the car could have stopped in the middle of the interstate. i took the vehicle to the ford store and they informed me that it was the throttle body. i then googled the problem and found out that this is a real issue with a large majority of the vehicles not just a limited faulty part. i don't understand how ford cannot see that this is a safety issue if someone goes to make a left turn and this happens another car could crash into them. anytime your car does not react properly it becomes a safety issue. when an 18-wheeler is behind a vehicle that responds the way mine did today it is a safety issue. as you know a fully loaded tractor trailer cannot stop as easily as a passenger vehicle and if the vehicle in front of them all of a sudden looses power and cannot get out of their way there is going to be an accident. once i got stopped my car did restart but getting to that point was very scary.

Engine loss of power, would. not accelerate, got out of traffic, put on 4ways, engine would only idle very rough, check engine light and wrench were on , shut off engine restarted after long cranking, started resumed trip , about 5 miles happened again, i did same ,after restarted drove 12 miles home. this issue is extremely dangerous . i have found over 2 hundred reports of the same problem upon first try and i was using 2011 escape . ihave since become aware that this problem affects multiple models and years. ford talks about safe mode? how safe is a 5 mph or less vehicle in a 70 mph belt way????? how about a 1 minute to stall mode??? or get off the road now?? it would appear they are aware of the issues and more concerned as to the ones that are in warranty!!! in other words protect the engine let the passenger fend for themselves. this has occurred multiple times at multiple speeds. went to ford they suggested appointment, 1 week was first available, if problem is throttle body part may be on back order, lovely, *tr

While driving home from work on the highway out of nowhere the check engine light came on and the throttle stopped working. i put the vehicle in neutral and still no throttle response, had to pull over on the highway, turn the vehicle off, turned it back on and ran fine o the way home. 2 days later drove the vehicle to work again and drove fine but on the way home from work the exact same thing happened 7 times! after the 4th time it happened on the way home the check engine light stayed on even though the throttle came back after turning the vehicle back on. stopped at the local auto parts store to get the code and found out it was the throttle body stuck closed. the fact that this has happened that many times on the highway is a real danger to myself and others on the road way. *tr

at first, while driving, the car would shut down and not respond to throttle movement, a huge safety issue in traffic. after pulling over and restarting the car, the problem seemed to go away for a while. the problem seemed to be intermittent the first few times. finally the car shut down to an idle and would not respond to throttle movement and the wrench and engine lights came on. the car would only run limp mode. the odb codes read a p2111 and p2112 (throttle actuator control stuck open, and throttle actuator stuck closed) respectively. we had to tow the vehicle to the dealer. we were told that the entire throttle body had to be replaced at a cost of $666. the problem is that the part is unavailable for 2 weeks and maybe up to a month. we have 39000 miles on the vehicle, the warranty ran out at 36000. this issue is also not covered under the power train warranty. this seems to be a widespread issue and i am disappointed that ford is unwilling to make this right and produce a recall. *tr

Vehicle abruptly stalled, wrench light came on, no accelerator pedal. dangerous situation in traffic, leaving driver stranded. forced to call for tow truck and have vehicle towed to dealer for repair. very lucky to be able to steer vehicle to relatively safe location. dealer replaced electronic throttle body. e-mailed ford, but no response at this time. *tr

I was driving back from lunch and as i accelerated up a slight interstate hill, i experienced no acceleration. i immediately went to neutral and tried to rev the engine, nothing. i coasted to the emergency lane where i safely stopped and placed the car in park. once in park, it was vibrating, sputtering and slightly lunging so i turned the car off. i sat for a few minutes, then restarted my vehicle. i was concerned about merging into traffic, so i turned on my emergency flashers and rode with them on for the remainder of my 15 minute drive. i immediately called my dealer and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. on my way home, the same scenario occurred 2 more times. thank heavens for emergency lanes! *tr

Engine loss of power, would. not accelerate, got out of traffic, put on 4ways, engine would only idle very rough, check engine light and wrench were on , shut off engine restarted after long cranking started resumed trip , about 5 miles happened again did same ,after restarted drove 12 miles home. this issue is extremely dangerous . i have found over 2 hundred reports of the same problem upon first try. *tr

Engine lost power but did not die. it would still creep along about 2 mph. the gear light was showing on the dash. the obd code was read by a local auto parts shop as p2112 -- throttle actuator control system - stuck closed. recommended action from ford was to replace the throttle body. i purchased the part from a local ford dealer for $324 plus tax and installed myself. problem was resolved. *tr

While driving at interstate speeds (65 mph), the vehicle just seemed to stop, but the engine was still running. i had just gone over a bridge and was able to coast down and pull off the side of the road. a yellow wrench was displayed in the instrument panel. i turned the vehicle off and removed the key. after waiting for a minute, i was able to start the vehicle and return home. this has happened three times now. i called the dealership who informed me that this was not covered by warranty and they have had several repairs related to this. so much that the technician knew the part number by heart and was able to provide a quote without doing any paperwork or even looking at the vehicle. i live on the coast where there are several bridges and tunnels. had i chose to drive through the tunnel instead of taking the bridge, i have no doubt that this issue would have caused a very bad accident. there needs to be a recall on this and ford needs to step up and fix the problem instead of making a killing off the unsuspecting consumer at the sum of over $400 a pop. *tr

From a dead stop at a light, pressed on gas peddle and engine didn't die, but would only crawl along at 1 or 2 mph. made it to a gas station, then turned off engine, restarted, and everything seemed fine. this however happened several times since. took it to ford dealership the service rep said it was probably the throttle body. (upon researching, it appears ford has put defective throttle body parts in several model year's of the escape.) *tr

Car died while crossing four lane highway- no throttle response, almost got hit b y semi suppose to have 60000 mile warranty on drive train ford garage said no to warranty claim. throttle body had to be replaced at my expense. *tr

Engine suddenly reduces to high idle - throttle totally unresponsive. turning engine off and restarting temporarily restores performance. i endorse the ongoing nhtsa investigation of this well known problem which is a severe safety threat as the vehicle unpredictably looses all power in the middle of other traffic. *tr

Driving home on 4 lane highway at posted speed limit of 45 mph. suddenly engine seemed to loose power and began to slow down. pushing down on accelerator had no effect. finally engine died. restarted engine but car only jerked and jolted as it tried to go forward. engine died and restarted a couple more times, then didn't want to restart at all. warning light on instrument panel showed an orange wrench. a city patrolman came soon and called for a tow truck as it was dark and we were on a narrow shoulder of the road. he said we were in a dangerous place. after repairs at ford dealer, we were told it was a failed throttle body. this is the second ford escape in our immediate family to incur this throttle body problem/failure in just a few short months. the other one stopped in the middle of a busy intersection. *tr

Driving to work on the freeway in the express lane and trying to accelerate and got no response from the engine. had to coast over to the side during morning rush hour. shut car off. tried to restart and it worked. took off again and it happened again about three miles down the road. it just cuts off with no warning. happened about 4 more times before i could get it in the shop. it was the throttle body.$291.91 for the parts and $296.0 for labor. *tr

Lost throttle control, pulled over, turned engine off, and restarted to correct problem. this happened three more times over following month at 70mph on freeway, 50mph on surface street and an intersection at a stoplight. exact same behavior (loss of accelerator, turn engine off, restart). dealership replaced throttle body. five months (7,000 miles) later problem occurred again at a busy intersection almost resulting in a serious traffic accident. i took it back to ford, they performed tests, said they already replaced the throttle body with the new one and made no repair even though i told them the car was unsafe to drive with the defect. there will be serious accidents that result from this defect. *tr

While driving on an expressway around 35-40mph, vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and went into limp mode (less than 1000rpm) with a wrench indicator illuminated on the dashboard. pulled over, shut down vehicle and then restarted engine. vehicle was driven home and taken to the dealership the next day. ford diagnosed and is replacing the throttle body under powertrain warranty. *tr

While driving at speeds from 50 - 65 mph, my escape will suddenly lose power. the engine remains running, but the accelerator pedal has no effect. the vehicle will continue to move very slowly after moving to the shoulder of the road. the "wrench" light is indicated on the dash. after coming to a stop, turning the engine off and restarting, the problem is temporarily resolved. after some research on the nhtsa site, this same problem occurs in the escape and ford fusion. ford is completely aware of the problem, but has not issued a recall. the problem is the throttle control body. a local ford dealer offered to replace the part for approximately $600. i purchased the part for $350 and will replace myself as it is a simple 10 minute job. this is a very dangerous defect and i wish that ford would take this seriously. *tr

When trying to accelerate into traffic, the engine dropped to idle and the gas pedal had no affect. temporary solution was to pull over, turn engine off, restart (which required excessive cranking) which seemed to resolve the issue. throttle works again. this issue has now happened 3 additional times and we have parked the car as it is unsafe and unreliable. ford dealer has no clue about the issue and can't schedule getting it into the shop for at least 2 weeks. *tr

While driving my family in our 2011 ford escape at 65mph on an interstate - i suddenly experienced a total loss of power. the engine did not quit - but rather decelerated rapidly to idle speed. i immediately pulled over to the side of the highway and attempted to rev the engine and shift the transmission into park, and then back into drive - with no result. i turned the vehicle off and waited 1 minute, to see if it could possibly be a computer problem. i started the car, revved the engine, shifted into drive and proceeded at normal speed. the following day this same thing happened to my wife on another highway. i called a ford dealer and a trustworthy repair shop - and they both pointed to the throttle body assembly in the fuel system - which seems to be a common problem. i had a new throttle body installed after a ford dealer hooked up diagnostic equipment and verified the issue. repair cost was $513.68 parts and labor. i feel that this is a very dangerous condition - and a recall of the vehicles equipped with this part, should be happen immediately. i have read many other accounts on the internet of this exact condition. it is just a mater of time before a failure like this will occur - and a following vehicle - perhaps a semi-truck will not be able to stop in time causing a very serious injury or fatality. luckily my wife and i were in light traffic on the freeway. *tr

I was driving on the interstate when all of a sudden lost power and accelerator became inoperative and small wrench light came on indicating a problem.. pull over to side of highway and turned off motor. waited several minutes and started vehicle back up and was fine again. drove vehicle several days later in city traffic and same thing occurred. took vehicle to ford dealer and they said it needed an electronic throttle body. this is definitely a safety issue and needs an immediate recall. *tr

The car went into limp mode while driving... gas pedal would not do anything until i pulled over and restarted. wrench light and check engine come on, but go off after car is restarted. took to dealer today after about 6 occurrences in the past month. it seems to be happening more frequently.

I was driving my 2011 ford escape late at night, when i completely lost power on my vehicle. i was able to safely pull off to the side of the road. as i brought the car to a stop (braking), the car jerked forward before stopping. i shut off the car, and sat for a few moments, wondering what to do. the dash showed a wrench symbol, so i checked the manual to see what it meant. it said something about a fault and the powertrain. i checked to see if the car would restart and it did. i continued to drive, and approximately 10-15 minutes later it did it again. this time at a speed of over 60mph. i made it to my destination and called my husband. he checked the internet to see if anyone else had this problem and was shocked to see all the complaints about this. thankfully, he read that if i stayed under 60 mph and didn't drive too long it shouldn't happen again. i took the back way home and although it was much longer i made it without a further problem. why is this problem part(throttle valve) not recalled. and most importantly, and for safety reasons why aren't the owners of these 2011 escape's made immediately aware of this hazard. this was the closest i came to a fatal accident and not necessarily my own. *tr

While driving on the interstate on afternoon 31jul13, traveling approximately 60 mph with foot on the accelerator when the car began to completely decelerate. rpm went to zero and with foot on the gas pedal no acceleration was possible. was able to get to the side of the road with emergency blinker lights on. turned car off. when restarting car, car had issues restarting. drove for another 7 miles with no warning light or issue. the next morning, 1aug13, while traveling on interstate at about 60mph again, after about 20 min of interstate driving the exact same thing happened again. was able to then drive slowly to the dealership. dealership indicated it was a faulty throttle valve that has been very common with these models. *tr

Engine cut out while driving at about 55mph and 'check engine' light lit up on the dashboard. i pulled over to side of road and waited about ten minutes before re-starting vehicle. the vehicle started ok but 'check engine' light stayed on. i took it to service station and they ran diagnostic and got code p2111 - throttle actuator stuck open. i made repair appointment at ford dealer for next day. while driving home from work the engine stalled at a traffic light but re-started ok. *tr

The vehicle was on the highway and lost power, this was the second time that this had happened in two weeks. the dealer was not able to determine the problem the first go around. vehicle would start but had no power, engine light and service wrench, had vehicle towed to dealership. they determined it to be a bad throttle body, which was not covered under my warranty. *tr

While accelerating from a stopped position the gas pedal stopped working and the car came to an idle speed in traffic. i exited highway and idled onto the ramp to the nearest parking lot. after turning the car off for a while and tried to restart with hesitation and was able to drive home and to the nearest ford dealership the next day.(crossroads ford- indian trail, nc) the service department cleaned the injectors and fuel throttle body along with a oil change and transmission flush.($300) the car still had a idling issue but i thought it was just left over residue cleaning itself out.( i have complained of shifting problems/acceleration problems with car since purchase in 2011. i have taken it into keith hawthorne ford of belmont (where purchased) several times with this complaint. nothing could ever be found.) the second incident date is 8-2-13. i was on hwy 74 in indian trail and had pulled out ahead of traffic leaving a stop light with plenty of time to accelerate to speed and the gas pedal stopped working again. i put my flashers on and idled to the next parking lot on the right which was a food lion shopping center. i was almost rear-ended by a red & white tractor trailer because he couldn't slow down in time, it just was able to get in the left lane before hitting me. several cars were backed up and slamming on brakes to keep from hitting me. there was no safe place to pull over so i had to idle to the parking lot. i turned the car off as in the earlier incident and got it restarted and was able to drive it the mile or 2 back to crossroads ford. i received a call today from the service staff that the fuel throttle body needed to be replaced and it would cost an additional $500 to which they would deduct $100 for the service performed 2 days earlier. the car remains at the crossroads ford while i await a call from a customer service agent for this issue. *tr

The car is running then the accelerator stops working. *tr

The fuel throttle body failed & the engine died. pulled off the road & restarted the engine, was able to limp home, (10 miles). *tr

My car has "missed" or "skipped" a couple of times in the past few weeks. yesterday, it quit pulling. the motor was still running, but would not accelerate. the engine light and the wrench light came on. when i was able to pull over, while coasting, i turned off the ignition - restarted the car, and drove another 2 miles, and it happened again. i restarted the car, drove another couple of miles, and it did it again. i was able to get my car home, which was only 2 miles from where i stopped the last time. i understand it's a problem with the throttle body - an ongoing problem with ford escape. my escape will go to the dealership tomorrow. *tr

I was driving on the highway at about 60 mph for about 50 miles. the car suddenly lost power and went into limp mode. the small tool light came on the dash indicating the throttle. i pulled off the highway and stopped. after a few minutes, i restarted the car, which seemed fine. i drove for about 1/2 an hour, and it did the same thing again. this time it would not go more then 20 mph. i had the car towed to the closest ford dealership. they said the code showed that the accelerator stuck. they reset the code and said they found nothing else wrong. when i got home, i called the dealership i have the car serviced at. they said it was the throttle body assembly and its a common problem. apparently i have to have it happen again for a repair or replacement to be done and it has to be towed to that particular dealership. a recall would be good, as this is very dangerous and i don't want to have it happen again so that i can get it repaired. *tr

Driving pa turnpike at 10:00 pm 7/19/2013 @ 65 mph sb. heard thump, wrench lite came on, then engine lite. no power on acceleration. coasted to side of road. called aaa. couldn't start car kept sputtering. waited for 1 1/2 hours no aaa. tried to start car. started. continued on journey. next day took to dealer. got an appointment for 7/23/2013 @ 2pm. drove car on mon. 7/22/2013. going 35 mph. same thing. thump, wrench lite, engine lite.no power. coasted to off ramp. took to dealer on 7/23/2013 for diagnostic.failed throttle body assy. removed and replaced throttle body and reprogrammed the pcm and retested. cost..$500.68...out of warranty. *tr

My ford escape has stalled 11 times in the past five days. it has happened at various speeds, ranging from 20 mph to 65 mph. the first 8 times the vehicle stalled (as if out of gear), the "wrench" light came on the dash, and i was able to coast to the side of the road. as i came to a final stop each time, the vehicle would jerk and then i was finally able to put the car in park. i turned the vehicle off and attempted to restart. the vehicle had trouble starting but finally came back on. again, the same description above happened all 8 times. these incidents caused some very dangerous situations, one where the vehicle stalled as i was crossing the street to turn left and it stalled in the middle of the road and another time when it stalled going 65 mph down the interstate with cars flying up behind me.i did not immediately take the vehicle in to be checked because i thought i just had a bad batch of gasoline. the last 3 times the incident happened (car stalled and the gas pedal would not work) but the "check engine" light came on and stayed on. i took the vehicle to the dealership this morning and was told that i need a new throttle body and it is not covered under warranty. i am terrified to drive this vehicle again and become anxious at every busy intersection wondering if it will stall out again. i have read many consumer complaints about this same issue and ask that ford do a recall on this part before a fatality occurs. *tr

When accelerating the car stalls for no apparent reason. i was driving down a busy highway in the left lane, when i accelerated the made a couple of jerks, thru the wrench sign on the dash and lost all power. this has happened to me 3 times, once from a dead stop turning left across traffic and twice while accelerating at an average speed on the highway there was a total loss of propulsion of the car and all you can do is hope and pray you can coast to safety. it is just a matter of time before someone is killed on a busy interstate when the throttle goes out. ford replaced my throttle yesterday for $328 and never said a word about this being an issue with this car! this absolutely needs to be looked at and recalled! *tr

My wife was taking her mother home on the 18th of july when the escape started to hesitate and surge going up a hill. when she pressed on the gas pedal there was no response from the engine.the powertrain and engine lights came on so she called me immediately. she was afraid to leave it running so she shut it down. what made things worse was the fact that it was 97 degrees out that day and she had her mother with her who is handicapped. after the engine cooled a bit, i was able to drive it the rest of the way to her mother's house. after dropping her off, the vehicle broke down twice on the way to the repair facility. it turned out to be a problem with the throttle body. as a former mechanic and now a parts person i can say with confidence that this is definitely a safety issue. *tr

I was driving and the vehicle stalled. i turned the engine off and restarted it drove fine almost a week later it happened again maybe 3 miles from my home i turned engine off and restarted drove about 1 mile and it done it again and picture of a wrench came on instrument panel i drove about 1 mile again and stalled again. i started vehicle again and the check engine light was on and i made it to my driveway. had vehicle towed to ford dealership and the called and said it is the electronic throttle body and would be a few days because they have to order the part and it will be $349.00. i was surfing the web to see what the part was when i say this page about others having the same problem. *tr

My husband was driving with two young children and myself as passengers when, without warning the car went into limp mode. we had it towed to a mechanic who could not find any problem. i drove it about two miles and it, again, went into limp mode......engine running but no power. we had it towed to the dealership. they have had it over a week and say that they have driven it and cannot find anything wrong with it. they can not fix anything unless it shows up on the computer. there is only 150 miles left while it is under warranty (36,000 miles). i will not drive it because it is unsafe. we are at a stalemate and i am out transportation. ford needs to fix this. *tr

My wife was driving approximately 50 mph when gas pedal on 2011 ford escape v6 became unresponsive. got vehicle to shoulder after almost crashing in traffic. red wrench light on dashboard was on. turned vehicle off then restarted and appeared to be ok. drove home approx. 10 miles. took to dealer who checked codes and found nothing wrong. told us the only way to get the code was to have it towed in without a restart because computer does not store wrench light indicator codes. restarting clears the code. local ford dealer was not helpful. investigated this problem and found that was most likely a throttle body problem. there are many owners with the same issue. it is on the short list for a recall. purchased an obd ii sensor and plugged in while driving to get the code. problem happened again with a fault code of p2111 - throttle actuator control system - stuck open. *tr

Driving the truck suddenly would not accelerate and just shut off. i was able to start and coast over out of traffic.truck would start again but would not accelerate no more then 5-10mph and shut off.vehicle was towed to southgate ford i was put in a dangerous position on the road.this could have been fatal if i was on the freeway. on top of all of the same complains of the same thing the dealership says i have to pay for work & parts truck pass my warranty limit and would not honor my ford employee discount for parts or aarp discount to add insult to injury plus ican purchase online the parts from ford .southgate wants to charge me $476.54 for parts i can order from fords the parts myself for $262.09 online. what a shame checkin the oasis results for my vehicle i am appauled this is not on the recall list. how many people have to be killed first befoe this is addressed. *tr

On wed july 3, i was backing it out of garage to take a trip to san antonio. i pulled out onto the street to leave when all of a sudden i lost all power. the check engine light came on along with a tool wrench. i looked in the manual and it said throttle problem. i turned it off and started it again and it drove perfect for half a block and lost power again. finally i got it around the block and put it back in the garage where it sits, until i can find out if this is a ford defect. *tr
