Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2011 Ford Escape

This problem happened two times within about 30 minutes time, so i drove immediately home, parked the car, and called my dealer, who speculated that the trouble was due to the "throttle body." the first time, i was idling at a red light and when the light changed to green and i tried to accelerate, i had no acceleration. the vehicle just sat there, with no indication of any power to be had to the throttle. i turned on my emergency flashers, put the car in "park," turned off the ignition, turned it back on, put the car in "drive," and the car began to drive normally. several minutes later, after parking the car, conducting an errand, and then re-starting the car and backing out of a driveway, the throttle did the same thing in the middle of a street: tried to accelerate in "drive" and got nothing until shutting off the ignition and re-starting. previously, over the course of the past six months, i experienced what seems to be a similar, though opposite, problem with the throttle. occasionally while driving, i would hear and feel what seemed to me to be a small surge of power while accelerating on surface roads. i assumed at that time that it was a transmission problem and mentioned it to the dealer when i took the car in for an oil change and normal servicing. the service department checked the transmission and found no problem with it. i believe now, after reading about the throttle problems with this model on ncconsumer.org, that those incidents were likely due to the throttle body malfunctioning as well. i experienced approximately 10-12 of these power surge incidents. *tr

Driving 50 miles per hour, when a wrench lit up on dash and instantaneously the vehicle lost power to the throttle. pulled over quickly, turned off vehicle, then restarted and went on about my way. very scary and so scared it could happen in a busy traffic situation. *tr

The ford escape has been randomly stalling at times while driving. i am forced to either pull off to the side of the road or quickly turn off my car and turn it back on again in the middle of the road. *js

Signs of issue during the occurrence: -car stop running -throttle alarm showed up -transmission alarm showed up -the issue happens approx. 3 to 4 times a month you will need to stop and turn off your engine for a while before you can start driving the car again, the throttle alarm will go away but the transmission stays sometime approximately after 12 hours. *tr

Upon starting the vehicle it operates as it should, once the rpm slow to an idle the vehicle will surge and stall at idle. at slow speeds (10-20 mph) the vehicle will surge and stall when the throttle is applied. the vehicle shuts down and steering and braking abilities are minimal, the vehicle will surge at speeds of 45mph however it does not stall at this speed. on the highway at a speed of 70 mph the vehicle will surge slightly, however it is not as noticeable of an event as at slower speeds. *tr

I have had this vehicle for one year, and it would be impossible to recount all of the times it has stalled on me while driving it. it has stalled in parking lots, in heavy stop-and-go traffic, making turns, pulling into my driveway, and accelerating to enter the freeway. it started within two months of purchase. i took it to a ford dealership in august of 2014 where they performed recall work which included throttle body replacement, reprogrammed the pcm, and a power steering advisory item. the vehicle continued to stall. the stalling seems to happen just after fill-up and happens intermittently until the gas gauge reads less than three-fourths and at low speeds. i filled it up yesterday, and it has stalled seven times since then. it happens when coasting to a stop or making a turn. on the freeway at high speeds, it runs well. the issue was compounded in february when it was discovered that the evap canister was full of gas. it, along with a tube hose assembly (bl8z9d667b-af), was replaced only for it to happen again. the purge valve was stuck open and had to be replaced along with a second evap canister. the stalling issue continued, and the dealership found the canister to be saturated with gas again. this time, they said they would have to replace the gas tank to correct the issue as they believe it is a valve built into the tank which seems absurd. i have not done this since they quoted a cost of over $2000. even if i have that done, it will only correct the canister issue, not the stalling. i have read hundreds of posts on the internet from people who have the exact same problems with the same model year as i have. these are both issues that i believe to be the result of a defect in the manufacturing of this vehicle due to the volume of owners who are experiencing the same problems. i feel ford needs to step up and correct these issues.

During rush hour traffic on a busy highway, while attempting to accelerate from approximately 50 mph, the gas pedal become unresponsive, i began quickly losing speed, and a "wrench" light came on. i was in the right hand lane with a wide shoulder and was able to pull over before slowing to a complete halt. had i been in a center lane or on a stretch with no shoulder, there could have easily been a severe accident. the engine sputtered and surged as i came to a stop. when i was completely stopped and shifted into park, the service engine light also came on. the vehicle was to towed to maxwell ford (austin, tx), and the reported cause was "failed r&r throttle." *js

I was driving normally, at a constant speed, and all of a sudden, wrench light comes on, gas pedal didn't do anything. putting it in park and shutting the engine, and starting again makes the light go away and run fine again. *tt

Engine suddenly lost power several countless times during a 300 mile journey on a highway. i almost crashed vehicle during the early occurrences. *js

My daughter was driving on interstate 10 east of tallahassee, florida the vehicle warning light (wrench) came on and the vehicle began to slow down. the engine was still on but there was no power. she pulled to the side of the road, cut the engine off, and called home. i asked to start the engine to see what would happen. she did and the vehicle pulled off like nothing had happen. the second incident happen when i was going over an over pass on interstate 10 yesterday. i pull over on the side of the road, cut the engine off, waited ten second started up and drove off. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford escape . the contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle jerked violently. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 44,000.

When pressing on the gas the car shifts really hard. then it seems like there is no get up and go afterwards. the transmission is shifting hard. *tr

As my wife was driving one morning the ford escape with out warning started to feel like there was no throttle when she stepped in the gas. she immediately pulled to the side of the road (coasting because the gas peddle wasn't responding. a little wrench (throttle body/powertrain) light came on, on the dash. this happened twice on this day, both times out of the blue. the ford dealership looked at it and it was the throttle body. this shouldn't happen on a vehicle so new and such low mileage. *tr

Accelerated from a stop and car lurched and engine seemed about to quit, got "wrench light" and was able to creep to get into parking lot. took car to dealer and they ran diagnostics on car and said the throttle body needed to be replaced. *tr

Driving on 5 lanre paved road at 50 mph when engine lost power did not stall. no throttle response. was able to shift into neutral and coast into parking lot shut off engine and restarted problem went away. took to dealer 3 days later where throttle body was replaced under warranty. *tr

Car stalled. wrench and engine light came on. we were going down a road that had no place to pull over. we were stuck in the middle of the road. turned off car and restarted but was very slow to start. we turned around and went back home and it did it several more times. called local ford dealership and is going to cost over $400 to fix. this is a very dangerous problem and the part should be recalled. *tr

Was driving 2011 ford escape and car started to jerk and decelerated with gas pedal not doing anything. pulled over to the side of the road. the powertrain wrench light had come on then the check engine light. restarted the car a minute later and it drove a few hundred feet before same thing happened and wrench light came on. will get car towed to dealership. i am a long-time ford owner. ford needs to step to the plate and address this issue. *tr

While driving down the highway on the way home from work in busy traffic, suddenly the engine came to an idle and a small icon of a ?wrench? lit up on the dashboard. after trying to maneuver through traffic on the busy highway at 5 mph (almost causing an accident) i was able to get to the side of the road. i shut the car off and restarted it, the icon of the wrench was gone and the car proceeded to run fine. i'm reporting this because i have heard this happen to other people and it was caused by a throttle body malfunction. this is an extremely dangerous situation on a busy highway. *tr

Last night while driving at approx. 55 mph my 2011 ford escape without any warning or sounds slowed immediately to less than 5 mph. i managed to let the car creep into a local car transmission repair shop. the vehicle would not engage in forward or reverse. this morning i called my ford dealer who asked that i leave the keys with the vehicle and arrange to have it towed to the dealership. upon arriving to the transmission shop a serviceman suggested i try engaging drive and reverse, i did so and the vehicle did engage. i reported this to the ford dealer prior to calling roadside towing and stated that i would not feel comfortable driving the vehicle until it is fixed. the dealer said he would advise me as soon as they investigate the problem. *tr

While driving the vehicle it will randomly lose all power and no longer move. i have to immediately pull to the side of the road in order to keep from getting hit because i cannot accelerate. this is extremely unsafe and i will not allow my wife to drive this vehicle because of this issue. the dealership said it is a faulty throttle body and they have seen this issue 6 times in the past 2 weeks!! ford tells me that i have to pay for this out of pocket because it is not covered under power train warranty. there needs to be a recall! *tr

I was traveling down the road at 55 mph, when the car lost power and began to slow. i notice that the wrench icon was lit on the display. the car was still running, but only at about 1000rpm and still slowing down. increasing the gas pedal had no affect on the car. i was able to get off the road on to a side street. the car was able to pull itself along, but only at a snails pace. i stopped the car and shut engine off for a minute or 2, retried starting it and it cranked so i made it home. the car done the very same thing the next night, this time driving at 65mph on a 4 lane highway.. this sounds like the same problem others have described concerning the throttle body. this vehicle is too new for these problems to be happening. a dangerous situation in heavy traffic. *tr

I was driving down i-5 and 2011 ford escape started to decelerate while foot was on the gas pedal. had to switch lanes and exit highway before i lost momentum. no one was injured in the process. shut it off for about ten minutes then turned it over but it struggled to fire. when started we drove straight home and parked it. i then got on the computer to research the issue and looked up any recalls on the vehicle. i found arfc and seen about 270 or more complaints about the same issue. i'm curious why ford didn't recall this vehicle because that is a safety concern and with so many complaints you think something would be done. *tr

While driving on a busy interstate in the center lane, my 2011 ford escape suddenly made a jerking motion, made a loud noise and then started slowing down quickly. i was pressing on the gas pedal but the car kept slowing down. i was barely able to get to the shoulder of the road. i feared for my life while doing this. i then noticed a wrench symbol lit on my dash. i checked the owners manual and the wrench symbol showed throttle control/powertrain. since i have certified pre owned warranty with ford, i called for roadside assistance. while waiting almost three hours in the rain for a tow truck and sitting on the shoulder of the road, i was terrified. i was almost hit by five semis. my car was towed to the closest ford dealership. the throttle body was replaced. *tr

Turning off the feeder road of the freeway and the vehicle shook and was unable to apply the gas. the engine was on but the car would not move. the wrench light came on. have been told this is a throttle body issue and it is not covered under my extended warranty. *tr

This vehicle has now been back to the dealer three times to fix the adaptive transmission. on occasion the vehicle lurches when shifting gears. the problem is especially acute having backed out of the garage and when putting the car into drive in the first 300 feet the vehicle "kickbacks". the dealer can only reboot the adaptive transmission. this resets the car for about one week and afterwards the vehicle goes back to the herky jerk pattern between gears. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the transmission warning light illuminated as the vehicle began to shake. the shut the vehicle off and once restarted, it functioned properly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the they could not diagnose the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 34,824.

Driving in the center lane of a 3-lane highway i heard a loud "thunk" from the engine compartment & felt the vehicle suddenly slowing down. when i stepped on the accelerator, i felt no response & looked at the dash to see the wrench light on. i looked over to make sure the gear shift was still in drive, thinking maybe it has slipped into neutral. i stepped on the accelerator again - nothing. vehicle had a strong shaking/vibration i was able to coast to the shoulder out of traffic. i shut the car off & was able to able to restart without the wrench light coming on again. i will be taking the car to ford dealer to be checked because "stalling" on a major highway is not something i want to experience again. hope they fix this problem!!!! *tr

Driving normal speed, without warning, "wrench icon" appears and gas pedal fails to respond. coast to stop in a parking lot. shut off engine, restart vehicle and it drives normal for remainder of 2 mile trip. start next errand and same thing happens. sounds like the throttle body failure and limp mode that i have been researching online. *tr

Throttle body needed to be replaced driving on the highway at about 65mph, the car gave a small jerk and the wrench icon illuminated, the car appeared to still have power but there was no ability to accelerate. luckily i was able to move over two lanes of busy, speedy traffic (as there was no left side shoulder) and pull off without causing an accident. i turned the vehicle off then restarted it, it appeared to run okay after that until about 3 miles later the exact thing occurred again. this happened three times on the highway and once i was able to exit it happened once again on a rural road at about 35-40mph. i called for service and took the car in the next day, while on the way to the dealer, the car did the same thing once more - at about 45 mph. this was an extremely nerve-wracking experience, especially while in heavy traffic on the freeway - it could have easily cause an accident and turned out much worse. once the dealer called me to tell me what the issue was i looked online to see if i could find any information and came across hundreds of other complaints, almost exactly the same experience i had. i feel, based on the number of complaints i have read and the need for so many people to have this part replaced it should be a formal recall by ford and not something that the consumer has to pay for, as i am now. it's only a matter of time before this situation occurs and causes serious injury or death, if that hasn't already happened. *tr

Just left highway sitting at red light. light turned green and proceeded to go when a tool light that looks like a wrench lit up on the dash. car would not go just coasted along. i was able to slowly coast the car over to the side of the road after i turned my hazard lights on to alert the other drivers that i was having problems. i put the car in park and turned the car off. i was able to restart the car and continue to drive to my destination. i called the ford service department that i take my vehicle to and was told that it sounds like the car needs a new throttle body. *tr

Was driving down the highway at 55 mph and all of a sudden my vehicle would no longer accelerate. luckily i was able to safely pull over and once i came to a stop i noticed my vehicle was idling rough and would not respond to the throttle and noticed the light with a wrench was also on. i turned the vehicle off and was able to start it back up and make it home and after doing some research this seems to be a very common problem with the ford escape. will be taking to a dealer to see what they can do. *tr

I was driving down i-80 at 65 mph and all of a sudden i had no power with my gas pedal and my engine light (wrench) came on. my car was still running, but when i pressed the gas pedal it did nothing. i pulled off to the side of the road and called for road assistance. sitting there my rpm's was around 1,000 and my car would shake. while waiting for a tow truck, i shut my car off and then started it again. when i pressed on the gas it started to go again. however, when i tried to get back on the interstate i had no power again and my engine light came back on. i had my car towed to a ford dealership and they checked it and they said that the throttle body was the problem. *tr

While driving on i75 north near dayton, oh my 2011 ford escape all of a sudden lost all ability to accelerate. the rpm's dropped down to 0 and the power train/transmission light came on. there was no ability to do anything other than brake and get off the highway. i was traveling at 70mph on a busy highway at the time. on the shoulder i shut off the car, and restarted it. everything seemed normal. i needed to get back to toledo, oh. about 30 miles later the car did the same thing as before. once again, i was fortunately on a section of i75 with a shoulder. i was able to pull over and shut off the vehicle and restart. i was able to make it the rest of the way on the trip. if this incident had happened in an area with no shoulder, in construction, in the middle of the highway with no way to get to the shoulder, on a hill.....etc the results could have been disastrous. the ford dealer determined that the throttle body had failed. once again, this could have been a terrible accident under different circumstances. to lose all power on the highway traveling 70mph in busy traffic is a safety issue. this part should be recalled and removed from other vehicles before someone suffers a terrible accident due to this failure. *tr

Traveling at a speed of around 50mph and all of a sudden the car jumped and lost power. when i pushed the gas pedal, there was nothing and even the tachometer would not move. was able to coast into a parking lot and turn car off. after a few minutes, the car cranked and all dashboard lights went crazy. was able to continue home, but car was running very sluggish. thank goodness i was on a quiet country road. had this occurred on a more heavily traveled road, it would have been very dangerous considering i had 6 and 7 year old grandchildren in my car.dealership diagnosed as throttle body problem. even though the throttle body is part of the power train, it is not covered under warranty??a $800 repair at 45k miles is not something you look forward to. *tr

While driving down the interstate at aprox. 65mph my car lost all speed and quit responding to the gas pedal. i was able to make it to the side of the interstate. my car was still running (rough) so i turned it off. after several min i tried to restart the car (per my mechanic knowledge) and it started right up. i drove to the nearest ford dealer and after they inspected my car was told i needed a throttle body. so needless to say $461 later my car is fixed but really annoyed that 9000 miles out of warranty things are already falling apart. *tr

Today on nearby interstate highway, suddenly my throttle pedal acted useless with no power, engine idled down. throttle pedal useless in any position. engine outline light came on as well a open end wrench. wrench warning light in listed in owners manual as "throttle control / powertrain fault, please contact dealer." i called the ford dealer service department, he knew pretty quickly the defect i was describing. he informed me that my 2011 ford escape is a couple thousand miles over the 3yr 36,000 mile warranty. but he also said i may be covered under an extended emissions warranty. my car is just over 2 years old. this is a dangerous defect in the car which is documented as being under investigation in these nhtsa.gov websites. please raise the status of this defect to be an official recall before someone dies. *tr

While daughter driving vehicle in houston, driving on freeway, approx. 65 mph, vehicle lost engine acceleration power, no response from gas pedal, warning lights (wrench symbol) illuminated. had to coast/idle across traffic lanes to get to shoulder out of traffic- very dangerous and scary - turned off engine, restarted, vehicle then operated as normal at the time, but event has since been recurring. now has happened 6 other times... very dangerous situation for any driver, especially a young driver. might add that this particular model is very popular with young adults - you will see many in college towns. very dangerous. internet research reveals many complaints and probable cause suspected to be throttle body malfunction. manufacturer must be aware by now. having car repaired - expecting cost of approximately $600 - $800. *tr

About 12:30 pm october 17th i was attempting to pull out of a parking lot onto the feeder road of a freeway. as i stepped on the gas to pull out, i got a surge and then my car stalled leaving me stranded on the side of a busy road. the wrench light came on and while my car still had power, it would not accelerate. my vehicle was almost hit 3 times by drivers who were not paying attention. after about 10 minutes i was able to get the car restarted and i drove to my destination. about 7:30 am on october 22 this happened again in my neighborhood as i was driving down the street going 20 miles an hour. wrench light was on. october 28th about 11:00 am, i was doing 40 mph down a two lane road and the car did not surge, but i did lose all acceleration and had to stop and turn my car off and wait about 5-10 minutes to restart. the wrench light was on. october 29th about 12:30 pm, i was making a right hand turn onto a busy street and the car stalled and i had to turn off the engine. the wrench light was on. i restarted the car and less than a mile later it happened again, but this time the service engine light came on. *tr

Ever since we bought our 2011 ford escape (used in fl--had to drive it to wa state due to military pcs army orders) the car has never gotten more than 20 mpg. it was hesitating consistently after we put 5,000 miles on the car. it started hesitating/ revving rpms at stop/jumping/accelerating then engine would just shut off and power as well. finally stalled on joint base lewis mcchord, wa (where we are stationed and live) and my husband could not get it to start. the "check engine light" was also then showing. we had it towed to the nearest ford dealership (lakewood ford). we had a platinum warranty we paid extra for with our monthly payments. even with that we still had to get an aer (army emergency relief) loan for the difference (appx. $187.00) that was not covered. we were entitled to rental car coverage but the ford dealership did not contact our warranty company in time so we were without a vehicle for 4 days. that was barely 3 months ago. they ended up replacing the throttle body regulator. again...here it is less than 3 months since that was replaced and we are only getting 18.2 miles to the gallon. it is worse when we use the flex fuel. it barely has 47,000 miles and it is unpredictable and i feel unsafe in this car. my husband is being medically boarded from active duty army because he is 100% disabled and a "wounded warrior." the only comfort i have is seeing that we aren't the only ones who have dealt with this problem. that is terrible to say but it is even worse when you cannot rely on a vehicle you bought only 1 year used. we are facing having to drive this back to orlando, fl and now we will probably voluntarily turn it in to the loan company simply because neither one of us feel safe enough to attempt to drive it 3500 miles across the united states, along with the medical concerns. *tr

While driving down the freeway the car suddenly surged for a second and then lost all power. there was no gas going to the engine and i could not produce any speed. i had to coast to a stop while moving over in the freeway lane to the shoulder. when i did stop, the engine sounded like it had trouble getting fuel to it. i turned off the engine and sat for a second and when i turned the car back on it started up and would go. over the past months this has happened on and off. some days it drives fine and then all of a sudden it will do the same aspect. *tr

Had just stopped at an exit and was pulling back out on the interstate when suddenly my car quit accelerating. thankfully, i wasn't going full speed yet and could pull over on the side of the interstate out of traffic. had i been going full speed, this could have been really bad, even fatal. my wrench and engine lights came on. after some time of sitting, the car drove fine and i was able to get to a repair shop that performed a diagnostic test and the error came up "throttle body stuck closed". after researching, i've found this seems to be a common problem and is very dangerous. i've also had times where after stopping and then pressing the gas to go, the car would accelerate forward suddenly. because of this defective part, my son and i were stranded for several hours and were traveling home so we were about 4 hours from home. we had to depend on strangers to help us. ford needs to take responsibility for this and fix this. we do not have several hundred dollars to fix this. *tr

At 65 mph in rush hour traffic my vehicle transmission disengaged and my vehicle started coasting. i could not accelerate, the engine vibrated roughly when i tried to accelerate, and i had to pull over to the side of the road. it is my understanding the throttle body stopped working and caused this to occur. the same thing happened 3 more times on this same day. once at 10 mph, once at 45 mph, and once at 55 mph. each time i was able to pull over, shut off the vehicle and restart it. the transmission would re-engage and i could continue on my way. *tr

Transmission slips after cold start. *tr

Throttle quit working.would only idle and check engine light and wrench light came on.pulled off on the side of the road and had to cut engine off and back on to get throttle working. happened again one week later.just lucky was not on interstate in heavy traffic doing 70 mph. both times engine code was p2111, throttle actuator stuck open. vehicle has 60000 miles on it and dealer said throttle body was not under power train and was only covered under the 3/36 warranty. purchased new throttle body at dealer and parts manager said it was the fourth revision to the part number. hope they got it right this time, it could put you in a very dangerous situation. *tr

At highway speed, vehicle's 'maintenance required' light came on and the throttle pedal became unresponsive. engine held steady at approx. 1000rpm. pulled off to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. restarted vehicle and throttle was responsive again. this incident has occurred an additional three times since the initial occurrence. each time, turning the vehicle off and restarting has temporarily fixed the problem. *tr

Throttle body needs replaced. ford will not cover it even though this is a common complaint. i was almost rear ended twice when i lost power and it cut out. i have read this is a common issue and needs to be addressed by ford before someone gets killed. recall is needed on this! *tr

The escape, while driving on the freeway, starting idling high, and allowed no acceleration. this happened in october, and then again today. it has also at numerous times, "slipped" and accelerated very quickly when starting the car. today, it happened again twice where it was idling very high and gas pedal didn't respond. we had to tow it to a dealership where we were told that the throttle body is shorted out. *tr

The transmission failed totally while my daughter and i were traveling at highway speeds in the middle lane!! as our truck began to slow, semi trucks began flying past us both on the left and the right and all we could do was wait for and pray for an opening to our right and hope we made it over to the shoulder before traffic slammed into us. remember - our gas pedal didn't work at all so we had to coast over to the shoulder with no control over how quickly we'd get there. i chose the hazards over the left turn signal to attempt this. the way to get moving again was to stop, put in park, turn off the engine, take out the key, put the key back in, restart it, then the gas pedal would sometimes work. we made our way home on the shoulder of the highway with our hazards on and had to restart 3 more time in the next 5 miles. *tr

I was driving down the hwy and my truck just abruptly slowed to 10 or less mile per hour. i had to cost over two lanes of traffic to the shoulder. this was very dangerous as the cars around me had no idea that i was having car troubles and just whizzed by at hwy speeds. once i made it to the shoulder i was able to turn the truck off and restart it and get it to the dealership without a tow. once at the dealership , they said there was no codes on the computer so there was nothing they could do until they had a code. this has happened four times and i still have not been able to get it fixed. *tr

Traveling on interstate 57 in illinois that feeds directly into interstate 94 at 60mph, 6am and still dark outside. just feet away from the intersection of 57 going into 94, the car began to decelerate and within literally seconds 50-40-30-20...0, the car stopped. the "wrench" sign was showing on the dashboard. luckily, i was next to the shoulder, and with on response to the gas pedal, pulled over. i ended up in the middle of the intersection of both interstates - 57 and 94 on the shoulder they shared. the person behind me pulled sharply over into the next lane to avoid me. sitting there nervously, cars were whizzing by me. i called the non-emergency number and connected to the state police who asked my location and assured me a tow truck would come. as i sat there nervously praying that oncoming traffic saw my hazard lights, i wondered how something like this could happen so rapidly and without warning. luckily, the tow truck came within 10 minutes and with the assistance of a state police car navigated through 3 lanes of oncoming, fast going traffic to get me to a safe area on the other side of 94. after turning the car off from neutral and restarting the car responded normally. i was able to drive to the dealership without incident where the throttle was replaced after 45 minutes of work. i ask the ford representative would this be reported to ford, he stated it would. i ask could this happen again, he said most likely not. he state they get "lots of escapes with this problem and there will probably be a recall." this was one of the most scarious situations i have been in!!! there would have been a major accident if the car had stopped minutes later. does someone have to die for ford to issue a recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
