Problems with 2015 Ford Edge ENGINE

On average, the 2015 Ford Edge starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 16 857 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2015 Ford Edge

Pulled up to a red light and waited until the light turned green. then i attempted to accelerate and the the engine shut off; however, it is possible that the engine shut off while the car was stopped prior to accelerating. a warning came up on the vehicle display, but i cannot remember the exact warning. i shifted into park and started the car back up, and all errors cleared. i drove an additional two miles home, and did not experience the same issue (even though i repeated the same procedure at two stop signs, fully stopping and gradually accelerating).

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford edge. the contact stated that the vehicle went into limp mode several times, which prevented the vehicle from being driven over 5 mph. the dealer diagnosed that the throttle body failed. the dealer also stated that there were more than 8,000 parts on back order and were unable to determine when the manufacturer would supply the part for the repair. the contact waited for weeks for a response from the manufacturer to determine a solution. the approximate failure mileage was 9,300.

Throttle body. ford edge titanium new car - have for roughly 6 months - 10,000 mileage driving on highway doing 65 - 70 miles an hour. car makes a beep noise and a large wrench appears in the left screen on the dashboard. no ability to use gas pedal which is now locked up - cannot press down. car is slowing down. only options to go to side of road and turn off. car can be restarted. take to dealership asap (happens again on the way - this time only driving approximately 30 miles an hour). dealership says it is the throttle body and they have ordered part to repair. been without a car for a week. still awaiting for dealership to repair.

I purchased a brand new 2015 ford edge on 12/29/15. on january 19, 2016, the abs break system went out and it took 2 wks to fix.this happened when i was 4 hours from my home and had to leave it at a dealership then drive 4 hours back to get it. ford could have cared less. yesterday(5/24/2016),i was driving down the highway at the speed limit (70mph) when suddenly my vehicle's gas pedal stopped working. i immediately felt the car de accelerate and tried to press the gas pedal to keep up with traffic. however, stomping on the gas pedal did nothing to increase the speed. there were cars slamming on their brakes and swerving to go around me. i was in the left lane of a 3 lane highway and many cars and 18 wheelers began swerving to pass me on the right. it was extremely difficult to coast to the shoulder. the power steering seemed to be limited as well.there were 2 near misses with other cars and it could have been a very bad crash. i turned the vehicle off and back on and made it to my destination. but, this happened a second time on my way home in the dark. i took it in the next morning and used all back roads but even at a lower speed, the same thing happened twice. ford now tells me that they are having problems with the "throttle bodies" on the 2015 edge and the part is backordered. therefore it could be 2-3 weeks before my car is repaired. i purchased this car in december of 2016 brand new off the lot, less than 6 months & less than 7k miles later i experienced an extremely dangerous equipment failure with no warning. ford customer svc does not seem the least bit concerned that their customers are not only inconvenienced by this issue, but could be killed! what is wrong with them? does someone have to die to get their attention. i am still expected to pay ford moter credit on the car. however, i am unable to drive it.once again, does someone have to die?

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford edge. while driving approximately 65 mph in two lane traffic, the vehicle randomly stalled without warning. the contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was determined that this was a known issue by the manufacturer and that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no solution. the approximate failure mileage was 4,500.

Car shut off twice on the highway at 70 mph. very dangerous but was able to pull over on the shoulder and restart vehicle but then it would stall 15 minutes later. all power gone in the engine. have 11,000 miles on this car. dummy light said to "get service". at the dealership they said it would take three weeks to get the new "throttle body" to fix this problem? three weeks i am without this car! i just hope once it's fixed i'm not going to be stalling without warning on the highway!

I bought my new 2015 ford edge in june of 2015, not even 2 months after owning it, the engine died on me while in stop and go traffic. the lights on the dash were on and it gave me an error message but i don't remember what it was. i was able to turn the car off and turn it back on and it was fine. then it did it again maybe a week later. took to the deal twice, they contacted ford and they told the dealership they it had to be reprogrammed, which fixed it but now 9 months later i'm dealing with it again. this time i took a photo of the error message, it said "full accessory power active." i've taken it back to the dealership but i've done a lot of research and this problem has been happening for years on all kinds of ford vehicles.

Brand new vehicle. "engine stall" without warning. dealership cannot duplicate and therefore the safety concern remains. dealership does not care if safety concern remains. vehicle unsafe to drive. numerous online complains and no response or action from ford. this is a serious matter of life and death. i was in dangerous conditions when the car lost power and my life was in danger. i demand that ford investigates this danger and buy back the vehicle in the meantime

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford edge. the contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the engine stalled without warning. the failure occurred twice. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that the failure occurred once while driving. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 200. the vin was not available.

Vehicle stalled again. first time october 2015 (filed a complaint). i was traveling on a road at relatively low speed and vehicle just stalled. restarted quickly, a vehicle should not just stall for no reason, especially a new vehicle.

2/26/2016 left edge at ford dealer who reprogramed the pcm 3/2/2016 turning from inglewood road onto 228th accelerated going up the hill, car jumped from ~30 to 40 then shut down into limp home mode, service light flashing, pulled to the side ran vehicle health report, turned off and restarted the car.

I purchased a 2015 ford edge titanium on april 23, 2015. around february 2016, i began noticing and hearing the vehicle make a loud noise (raring up of the engine} when in the park position or when driving. the noise appears louder when in the park position. i took the vehicle to the ford dealership where i purchased it to have it inspected and was informed it was normal for the vehicle to do that. the noise became worse so i took the vehicle back again. on march 3, 2016, i was then informed it was the cooling fan. the cooling fan was supposedly replaced. however, today the vehicle is doing the same thing. to hopefully get a solution to this problem i filed a complaint with ford motor company. i was referred to the person over my district and have followed their recommendations but still to no avail. after every service visit i"m being told they can't find anything wrong and that the noise is normal. i requested for a ford technician to come out and inspect the vehicle on june 8, 2016. as of today, june 25, 2016, i am still waiting to have my vehicle inspected by a ford technician. i have videos of the vehicle making the same noise before the cooling fan was replaced and after it was replaced. i have also shared both videos with ford and the dealership's service supervisor. i am afraid each time i drive the vehicle because i don't know if it will blow up or not because the noise is just that loud. i just want the vehicle repaired.

While passing (going from 40-60mph) a slow car in the right lane of highway 405 hit the gas pedal and the car shuddered and went into limp home mode, had to pull right across two lanes ran vehicle health report, turned car off and restarted

Turning off of sahalee way on to highway 202 hit gas pedal and car lunged and then end into limp home mode, had to pull off the road turn the car off and restart

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford edge. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and all the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the failure recurred several times. after the third time, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it could not be diagnosed. the dealer received a bulletin about the vehicle and reprogrammed the pcm; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 26,500. updated 05/04/16*lj *cn

Thee times now my edge has lost power while driving. the first time was making a left u-turn in a residential neighborhood. the second time was making a right turn into a drive-thru driveway. the third time was in a grocery store parking lot while stopped, waiting for a car to pass. all three times my car lost engine power, with no prior warning. a display popped up stating "full accessory power active". no other lights/alerts came on, including check engine. my radio still worked. while in drive i could literally press the gas to the floor and nothing happened. i had to restart the engine to regain power. i was able to restart the car without putting it into park; i only had to press the brake and the start button. during the initial mechanic visit we road tested and i was asked to try stopping and starting the engine while in drive; i was unable to do so. i now have the car at the dealership for the second time. the first time i was told that because they couldn't duplicate the problem, they couldn't fix it. i showed them research where other customers complained of this issue and it being due to the throttle body. i asked for this to be replaced, and after 5 days of back and forth, they changed it out. less than 24 hours later it happened for the third time and i took it back in. i mentioned other reports of possible fuel pump issues but they said they were unaware of it being an issue. the said they would try to duplicate it, but otherwise they couldn't do much else. i brought in a picture of the alert, as requested by the first mechanic, but was told it wasn't enough to help them. i am unable to attach the work order at this time, but i have a physical copy for my records.

On october 27, 2015, my ford edge sel 3.5l w/ 4,500 miles stalled after i came to a complete stop and attempted to make a righthand turn. as the vehicle entered the intersection, it stopped responding and stalled. no warning or other symptoms occurred. no warning or error codes displayed. the left message center displayed "full accessory power active." this situation is dangerous as there is no warning and the manner in which it stalls/loses power does not give the driver any indication the car has stalled. suddenly and without any alarm or error code, the vehicle lost power and stopped responding.

In a parking garage, turning right at slow speed and vehicle stalled. no warning, all was going smooth until vehicle just stalled. vehicle restarted. informed dealer. dealer service department "reprogramed pcm per tsb 15-0123". thought all was taken care of until stalled again in march. so reporting now.

I was turning right at a speed of 10-15 mph and without warning the engine shut down and all power was lost. i avoided hitting another vehicle by quickly shifting to park and restarted the engine. the only thing i noticed on shut down was the green light on the ignition button was flashing.

Exhaust in cabin way beyond permissible limits from day 1. i suspected the firewall was allowing exhaust into interior, but then i started suspecting the rear was allowing exhaust in due to an air eddy recirculating behind the vehicle allowing exhaust into the cabin via lower rear door seal not sealing tight enough via the automated door closure not sufficiently forming a seal.

We had stopped at a red light and then we proceeded through the light and the transmission shifted hard from 1st to 2nd gear (auto transmission) but didn't think anything about it. we then turned into a parking lot at tampa international airport and the vehicle's engine just shut down before we came to a stop. we coasted into a parking space and the automobile was unresponsive to me trying to shut everything down for approximately 3 to 5 seconds. there was a notification that appeared on the dash when the engine shut down but i don't remember what it said. it then allowed me to depress the start/stop button that allowed the electrical system to shut down for a re-start. i then restarted the engine and picked up my passenger and drove home. the vehicle has been problem free before the incident and did not cause any problems on our return drive home. we were very lucky to have been in a parking lot and not on a busy highway pulling in front of oncoming traffic.

As i was driving, the car engine stopped. i would then have to put the car in park and restart the engine while in traffic.

I was stopped at a stoplight in clear, warm weather when the engine silently turned itself off. not realizing this, i attempted to turn, but the edge was off. ac and radio remained on. i did not see any warning lights on the dashboard. after a few frantic minutes, i noticed the small green light on the ignition button was flashing. i put car in park and was able to restart engine. we have only driven the car a few times since and no problem. i fear this happening while driving in traffic. vehicle had 765 miles on it- we had it for 3 weeks.

Was approaching a 4 way stop while lightly tapping on the brakes when the engine shut down and the message "full accessory power active" showed up in the information display. when the engine turned off it did not buckle or hesitate. was able to turn vehicle back on by shifting into park.

I was driving in traffic, a construction zone. i merged into the final lane and pushed the gas to accelerate. the vehicle just started slowing down. the engine had died completely. no warning lights of any kind beforehand. it just stopped running. the green light on the ignition was flashing, and an error came on the screen saying that the accessories were powered. fortunately, since i was in construction, i wasn't moving very fast. i was able to cruise a few yards, put it into park and sit. i was still in the one lane of traffic, though. i tried starting the vehicle again several times...nothing. finally i let it sit for about 30 minutes, then was able to start it again. i drove to the nearest parking lot, called roadside assistance and had it towed to my dealership. thank god i wasn't on the freeway, or moving faster on the surface street. the dealership has it now, but after reading how many others have the same complaint, i am afraid to drive this car. i've had this vehicle two months.

While making a right turn engine stalled and accessories are running light warning appeared on instrument cluster. car had no power and green light on push button start was flashing. put vehicle in park and it restarted. appears this is an on going problem.

I had just made a right turn onto a secondary road from a four lane highway. as i was coming out of the turn the car lost power and would not excellerate. i was able to coast to a nearby parking lot. i cut the car off (radio and inside console were working.) after 30 seconds restarted the car and it seemed ok. if i had continued on the highway with speed limits of 55-60 mph, there would have been a real chance of a rear end collision. very dangerous problem. on line site cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t35446_ds471580 list page after page of examples of exact same problem with other ford edges dating to 2009. took car to dealership today 8-17-15 and tech's could not find anything amiss. told them about web site and problem with throttle assembly. if throttle sticks in open position, computer cuts power to engine. dealership pretty much dismissed what i had to say. engine should not cut off for no reason. very anxious that this will happen again and outcome will not be good. there was an error message on the console, but i was so frazzled i did not write it down.

This problem involves a loss of power in my 2015 ford edge-titanium fwd (3.5l ti-vct v6 engine). it occurred after only 2 months of ownership and less than 3000 miles. after yielding at an intersection, i accelerated to turn right. nothing happened. thinking my foot slipped off the accelerator, i repositioned and pressed again. nothing happened. my edge was rolling slowly, but i was unable to pull off the highway due to being in a construction zone. there were cones on the sides of the road. i stopped the car in the middle of the road and noticed a message on the screen. however, in my frantic state, i did not remember it exactly. the message was something like, power accessories off. i attempted to restart. it wouldn't start, but i realized it was not in park. once i placed my edge in park, i was able to restart immediately. thankfully, traffic was slow, and there was no accident. the service department at the ford dealership where my edge was purchased kept it for 2 days and drove it several times. they were unable to reproduce the problem, and they did not find any diagnostic issues. however, they were concerned and did say to return immediately if the problem occurs again. i love this automobile, and i am a first time ford owner. however, i now fear driving it. after reading several similar complaints on this site and other sites, it appears this has been ongoing for years. will someone have to die for this to be corrected?

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford edge. while at a stop light, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact restarted the vehicle and it resumed normal operation. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

The car shuts off with no warning while driving. this has occurred 5 times in the past 8 weeks.the first time was a week after we purchased the vehicle and occurred at a stop light, the engine shut off with no warning lights. three times the engine has shut off while driving at speeds around 25 mph again no warning lights. i was not turning during these times. i have to put the car in neutral and have to press the brake in order to restart the engine. today the engine shut off while making a turn in an intersection in heavy traffic and almost caused an accident. the vehicles behind us had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting us. this is extremely dangerous. we immediately took the car to the dealership today for service. this has been occurring more frequently and without warning. i am afraid to drive this vehicle.

While on highway car went from 45 mph to under 5mph without warning. lost all functions steering acceleration and braking. wrench appeared on dashboard see manual. luckily a car was not behind could have been a serious accident. went to ford said could not find an issue

My new ford 2015 edge has stalled on me and on the dealership 6 times in 3,000 miles. this forum asks for specifics, so here is one example. i was turning right into traffic, i went to accelerate, and i had no power. the dash lit with a message "accessory power active". i had to pull over and restart. i have had this car at the dealership on and off for over 75 days. ford issued a tsb #15-0123 on 8/10. my car's computer was updated on 8/12. i was assured by ford and the dealership that this problem was "fixed". but it is not, i had another occurrence of the stalling issue again on 9/11. the dealership and i have asked ford for a "buyback" and have been refused twice, without specifying a reason. my car is not fixed, and yet ford demands i take it back. i have had to park my car, and i cannot drive it. it is a safety hazard, and an accident waiting to happen. i am attempting to arbitrate with ford on my own. they have had my car 20+ days longer than i have had it in my possession. this is an intermittent problem, and there is no telling when it will happen. i cannot believe ford has forced me to take the car back. three of my stalling issues have been in high traffic areas. i have not received what i've paid for. shame on ford for wanting me to risk my welfare and the welfare of my passengers in a car that has a major defect.

Several occurrences of stalling when coming to/near stop and accelerating. the problem has happened about once per month (four times over four months). occurrences include coming to a stop at a red light, slowing for a speed bump, and slowing to make a turns. significant risk of an accident from the car stalling in the middle of traffic or high speed intersection.
