My door ajar light started coming last week and won't go off. i an positive the all doors are closed. it is very disruptive while driving, when the vehicle slows at signal lights, in intersections or in traffic the alarm comes on. also, i was in a completely dark parking lot with people and cars moving around and the interior lights wouldn't go off. i could not see outside because of the interior lights. the door locks will not function in this state either. someone could have easily gotten into the vehicle with me. help!
Door agar light comes on when doors is locked.
Door ajar warning comes on and will not go off. interior lights remain on and none of the vehicle locks will latch because vehicle believes a door is ajar, when in fact it is not. the issue began about 2 weeks ago (october 10, 2016). i was able to open and shut door to turn the senor off the first few times the door ajar light came on and that solved the problem...temporarily. at this point the door ajar light remains on, interior lights remain on when vehicle is parked and turned off, battery is drained due to lights staying on unless i disconnect the battery and doors never lock - not when vehicle is in motion, not when it is parked.
Ford edge 2013 problem with sensor or other causing driver door alarm to activate after door is shut. dome lights stay on; door is completely shut but message states that "driver door is ajar". message and alarm sometimes comes on when driving. sometimes takes several tries repeatedly shutting door to get alarm and lights to turn off. this should be a recall. problem has occurred several times in the past week. *tr
When the driver's door is closed securely the door ajar light and warning sound activate almost daily, more often on cooler mormings. after numerous attempts to close the door securely the problem persists and has been happening for several months. the door ajar warning also happens when the vehicle is in motion on city streets, highways and at all speeds without warning or as a result of unusual driving conditions. in addition, when the vehicle is in motion, all of the doors unlock when the door ajar warning activates and the interior dome light is enabled making the vehicle, in my opion, unsafe to drive and occupy. this problem is dangerous, especially at night and at highway speeds. had i known of this problem existed before i purchased the vehicle i would not have purchased any vehicle made by ford.i am now aware the problem is well documented and widely known on social media and through comments i have read on various consumer websites. i do not recall the first time this problem occured, but the last time was today while taking my daughter to school. i am requesting a recall for the entire door assembly that controls the door ajar warning system. *tr
Door ajar light remains on even when door closed. this results in locks not working, interior lights no turning off etc. this is the 2nd time this has happened. ! year ago, ford 'cleaned' the sensor and that worked, - for a year!
Interior headlights with door ajar light come on and off randomly
Suddenly the vehicle no longer registered one of the doors as being closed. it always had the door ajar warning on the screen and the dome lights stayed on and doors wouldn't lock while driving as if a door was open. this made it difficult to drive at night because all the lights would be on in the car. also, my 4 year old was able to reach and open the door while the car was in motion so i had to take the car into the dealership to have it fixed immediately before one of my children was hurt. the car only has approximately 40,000 miles on it and is well cared for but out of warranty so the repair cost us 474$ and i was out of a vehicle for two days. *tr
Door ajar light stays on when the door is closed and the dome lights stay on
The dash says that the door is ajar when it is closed. i have seen where there have been numerous complaints about the sensor or latch going bad. i am having similar problems. *tr
Driver side door indicator will sometimes give false reading that door is ajar. dome light will stay on and not able to lock doors.
The rear driver side door ajar light stays on all the time and the door is not open. the interior lights stay on at least 5 minutes after turning the car off, therefore running down the battery. we just had to put in a new battery. the doors won't automatically lock while driving because it thinks the rear door is open. it doesn't matter how many times you shut the door, the door ajar light stays on. very frustrating!! so many other complaints about this same problem, it needs to be recalled!!!
The sensor for the driver door ajar keeps popping up. i have to close the door numerous times before it will allow me to lock the car. if i don't then the interior dome light will remain on. this happens while driving or when parked. if i am driving then the dome light remains on until i can get the sensor to turn off.
Left door sensor/latch is not working properly after 65,000 miles. affects door locks while driving and parked. the door locks go up and down intermittently and unexpectantly. affects overhead lighting and the remote start. dangerous to have the doors not locked especially if young kids are in back seat.
Door ajar light on dash continues to stay lit after door is closed. this creates an issue as the door locks will not engage when the vehicle is running.
My drivers side door when i shut it, the door ajar light stays on along with the dome lights. it only took a few times re shutting the door to make this go away. however, just recently it has been staying on longer and harder to get to go off. it has also been coming on when driving and i have to pullover to try to get this to turn off. i cannot lock the doors when this happens causing a very unsafe travel along with the lights staying on. if i had kids in my vehicle i would feel they could open the doors due to this failure and fall out. when driving and this happens the light comes on and causes a glare and could cause an accident! even after ford does their "cleaning" to the door it still happens after a couple months. the door latch and components have to be replaced completely to have this fixed.
The door open warning light stays on even when its closed, this is not allowing the doors to close properly , this also causes the panic alarm to go off and it keeps the dome light on while driving causing glare at night due to the bright dome light staying on. this also drains the batter due to the constant intirior lights staying on when the car is parked and closed
Car door ajar message ad dome light on at all times, low electrical power, caused the battery to go bad, latch on door problem, car would not lock, car stationary and you could not lock the door to start car
Open door warning lights come on even when doors are closed, happened 2 years ago with back drivers doors and was fixed, a year later the same happens with the drivers door. this is constant once you turn on the car and close all doors, sometime if door is close very hard, light turns off. sometimes works, sometimes don't. it does not impedes the car to drive correctly but bothers with sound, lights and warnings.
For about a month the door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. interior light stays on. not able to lock doors while in or outside of the vehicle. while driving (streets or highway) the shift to park indicator lights up, the door ajar indicator comes on, interior lights turn on, all the doors unlock and the door open chimes are heard. when i initially checked for recalls there are several internet stories from 2014 related to this issue on the ford edge. i was told about a recall that had been issued on ford vehicles so i took my edge to south bay ford on saturday, august 5, 2016. i was told that my edge was not on the recall list. on august 4, 2016 cnbc reported the recall of about 830,000 ford vehicles (http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/04/ford-recalls-830000-2012-2016-ford-and-lincoln-vehicles-to-fix-latches.html) . to my surprise the 2013 ford edge is not listed.
The door adjar stays on while driving leaving light dome on causing visibility problems at night. when i get home i always have a hard time closing my door for the light dome to turn off. my battery already died had to buy a new battery and the car was purchased brand new in 2013! a battery should not die that soon! all because this door adjar. please have this recalled. also. i had this problem fixed for a minute when i took the car to get checked at ford when it was still in warranty! they fixed it for the time being but it started to happen again. and my warranty is over!
Drivers door ajar sensor always on interior lights draining battery unable to lock doors
Door ajar light stays on and won't register when the front driver's side door is shut. lights will not dim while driving or parked, locks will not work properly either. battery is being drained because of the faulty sensor. ford will not cover repairs, even though my vehicle is still under warranty.
The door ajar signal remains lit when door is closed, preventing the ability to lock doors while driving, and causing internal car lights to remain on.
Drivers side door ajar warning light constantly display. interior lights will not dim because car thinks door is open when latch is secure. and door is properly closed. very dangerous to drive at night because the interior lights do not shut off. i fear it could drain the battery dead when car left in park and off. numerous similar complaints. *tr
My car, ford edge 2013 has a problem with the driver door sensor which shows that the door is not closed causing the alarm bell to stay on, the interior lights won't turn off, had to have a jump start. took to ford dealer and was charged for repair. quite expensive for me to pay for what ford should be paying for. i understand that are quite a large number of owners with the same problem. also smell exhaust fumes when shutting shutting off the engine as i get out of the car. coming from engine compartment. understand this is also a problem for other owners. these factors together should be reason for the nhtsa to get involved and force a recall to review our groups problems. i paid $229.00 to clean contacts. new parts much more expensive. help us with this.
My 2013 ford edge vehicle door ajar light came on about a week ago. i can not get the door ajar light to shut off. it does not matter how hard or soft is shut it, it will stay on. i drive 20 miles to work everyday. it is a big safety hazard. when i do get it to shut off , while driving it will pop back on.. then my interior lights come and i have a hard time getting them off. i have 2 kids and this is a big safety issue for me. i see multiple complaints about this issue but no recall. the locks will lot lock with this light on. like i said before i have kids and this is a big concern for me.
The driver side door shows it is ajar when the door is closed. this will not allow the doors to be locked while driving. also the interior lights will not turn off. this a major safety hazard both during the day and night. reading online a number of complaints have been made dating back to the 2011 models. http://m.carcomplaints.com/ford/edge/2013/accessories-interior/door_ajar_light_on.shtml there dozens of posts online regarding this same problem but yet no recall to date
The driver side door ajar light remains on even when the door is closed. the dealership notified me of the locking sensor/assembly being faulty and that i need to have this changed because the battery can drain. repairs cost about $400 since i was 3,000 miles beyond of the warranty.
My door ajar light dome light stays on even though the door is shut it's dangerous while driving at night due to domelight staying on its distracting cause door ding sounds off while driving been stranded one time cause dome light stood on but the one thats the worst i was so used to still driving with light on i was in my parking lot luckily with wife i turn on car dome light is on so i figure door is shut its just the sensor going off like always but door shut this time the door was open not shut i turn and fall off car lucky wife pressed break one day a person is going to think its just the sensor going off and door is locked while actually its open get hurt and ill be the first witness for that persons lawsuit against ford cause they are acting like thats not a recall situation shame on ford i will never buy a ford and will tell everyone and their brother the same thing they say buy a ford cause its ford tough better said ford tough luck
2013 ford edge with 37k miles. driver "door ajar" light comes on when door is shut. causing doors not to lock while car is in motion going down road/highway. also causes interior dome lights to stay on, unable to see out the windows while the dome lights are on while night driving. rear view camera glitches on and off and flips upside down which causes distraction while backing up and unsafe operating conditions.
Driver door ajar light stays on even when the door is shut!interior dome lights stay on and it tells you to shift the car to park. does not matter how many times you shut the door it is still sensing it is open. i have to shut the door mulitple times and use the key fob until the lights go off so the battery does not run down. you can shut the door and finally get it to turn off, then start driving and it will tell you to shift to park that the door is ajar and the dome lights come on. the estimate from the dealer to repair is $500.00. this is a major safety concern because my door will not lock while it is showing its ajar and i have children in the back seat that could open it, it is very distracting, frustrating and when it happens at night my lights will not go off and you can not see clearly. i have seen so many complaints regarding this and is very disappointed that ford is not concerned as well!!!!
Driver door ajar warning. cannot lock doors, interior lights go on, warning chime sounds. very dangerous especially at night with the interior lights on with doors unlocked. dealer said no recall. had to pay $366.10 for a "possible" fix by cleaning contact latch with tool and recycled per tsb 15-0013.
I am very concerned about my door ajar problem that i am having with my vehicle. i have children and if the door ajar is on the doors do not lock. it also makes the dome lights stay on. another problem is that when i stop my vehicle it constantly is making dinging noises and telling me to put the car in park and shut my door. i am still very concerned about all these issues, especially for my children. i have not seen any recalls out for this issue and i have seen many issues on the internet about this going on in several ford vehicles. *tr
The driver door ajar light comes on and the shift to park warning comes on the bells dings and all inside lights stay on.whether the car is on or not, the lights stay on. i've had to replace my battery because the lights won't shut off. i cannot open and close the door to get the warning to go off. also the dash lights an overhead lights will come on when no one has even been in the car it's making me crazy!! i called ford customer service ad the told me to try to get my third party warranty to cover the repairs.this is all bull crap, ford needs to recall and repair everyone's problem.
Driver door ajar light stays on constantly even though the door is securely closed, also the vehicle doors will not lock when the car is in motion, the interior courtesy lights stay on while car is being driven which makes night vision impossible. alarms go off constantly while driving calling for the driver to stop and shift into park
Ford edge 2013 error code "door ajar" would randomly come on while parked or driving when the door was actually closed. door would have to be repeatedly closed in order to make the "door ajar" error go away. "door ajar" error would come back even if the door was closed successfully without the error before. while driving, "door ajar" warning would sound off triggering dashboard lights which would startle the driver and cause a safety hazard. when the car was parked, "door ajar" error would prevent lights in the vehicle from turning off. "door ajar" error would prevent the doors from being locked via remote or lock button in the car.
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. prevents driver from knowing of a real door ajar situation. interior light stays on, creating a night driving hazard and when sitting in car at night. doors no longer lock when vehicle is in motion. major safety issue. faulty latch or sensor. all issues stemming for faulty door latch or sensor. this has continued for several weeks.
Driver side door ajar indicater stays on after door has been closed. overhead lights stay on when door ajar indicated is engaged which is a driving hazard at night. this issue occurs both when idle and while driving.
My door ajar indicator will not stop alerting me that my door is open regarless of the doors staet closed or not. so now when driving my interior over head lights will not go off even at night impairing my vision. ford dealer ship refuses to fix this problem i only have 35000 miles on the vehicle and this is the second time i have taken it in for this same failure. the first time they fixed it and it lasted about a year now they refuse to fix it. not only do i have to disconnect my battery at night or the lights wear it down but now that my interior lights stay on at night it makes it hard to see the traffic around me.
Whether in motion or not , door ajar light stays on from left front door. this is dangerous situation
The vehicle was purchased new in dec. 2013 and as of today has 54,500 miles on it. as of today it has now gone through 2 headlight bulbs, one for each side. the first was jan. 2016 and the second yesterday. i believe there is a defect in the way the headlight high/low beam system is made in the edge. a single bulb is used for both high and low beam. when the driver switches to high beam the entire bulb socked or light housing is commanded up. this is noticeable inside the vehicle with a loud bump from the headlight area. i believe the force of this movement contributes to the shortened life of the bulbs. if driving at night it's possible both bulbs could be broken when switching from low to high beam. should this occur at night it could lead to a vehicle crash due to loss of visibility, possibly resulting in injury or death.
Driver side door ajar issue- when the door is closed the door ajar light will come on while driving or while parked. the interior lights will stay on even while driving at night. the door locks will also not stay locked. this will happen whether driving on the highway or in the city. every time you drive the car this will happen. when the car is turned off and parked the interior lights will stay on. i have to open and close the door several times in order for the lights to finally shut off.
Car door sensor on driver's side no longer registering that the door is closed. lights remain on, warning message constantly flashes, and message to shift to park with warning chime goes off every time i stop the vehicle, and the car does will not lock.
Drive's side door ajar warning light constantly displays. interior lights will not dim because car thinks door is open when latch is secure. in addition, doors cannot be locked. as a woman who travels a lot and gets in her car, alone, often late at night, i do truly believe this to be a terribly safety issue!!! dome lights often remain on even when car is off a no one is in it. i fear it could drain the battery dead when car left in park and off. in addition, i often have difficulties with the car's sync system and the car almost always has exhaust/fuel fumes when traveling above 60 mph. i don't know if all of these issues are related, but with a vehicle so dependant on electrical systems for operation i worry about a life-threatening issue!!!
Door ajar light stays on even when door is closed. this keeps dome lights on and side mirror lights along with the doors not locking which is a secure/safety issue. also the fact that the dome light can blind the driver at night and this runs the battery down. ford dealerships say its a known defect for new and used vehicles and i opened up a case with ford and they refuse to offset the costs to fix it. they just say keep your receipt in case they ever do a recall. there is a petition on line because it affects so many people. ford needs to address this to avoid lawsuits! its a burden to consumers because the cost to fix is over $500 at a dealership. this happens when stationary and in motion. my wife and baby almost ran off the road because the light won't go off at night and blinds her view. plus it has left her stranded at work with a dead battery. see link for details. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rlmgeehq38
Door ajar comes on while the door is closed and you have the open and close the door more than 50 times for it to go off ......ford needs to redesign or replace sensors/ door lock mech. especially not even being 2,000 miles after replacement and from what i've read online with other ford edge owners and other ford vechical owners this is a very common problem
The front driver door sensor will not go off no matter how many times you open and re-close the door. this causes the following to occur: 1) when driving the car, the doors will not lock, which is a major safety issue for those with children 2) when leaving the car, the door is not recognized as closed so the interior dome light and side-view mirror lights all remain on. this drains the battery while the car sits idle.
When the door is shut, vehicle continues to state the door is ajar. this causes the interior lights to stay on. when the lights are on, it is not possible to see out of your rear view mirror. because of this, when you back up, you cannot see anything behind you.
Door ajar is constantly on and if it goes off in the middle of me driving the door ajar will go off with interior lights on. this problem is happening all the time
