Driver door ajar sensor going off - resulting in changing a battery out already since it thinks the door is open, the dome light stay on inside. very frustrating. read several forums of others discussing the same problem. ford needs to recall this part. door latch. the faulty sensor triggers an audible warning, activates a warning light and causes a "shift to park" message because the computer mistakenly believes the vehicle has stopped. owners complain about dome lights that stay on, drained batteries and customers say all the doors unlock and cannot be manually relocked.

All doors leaking at the door seal retainers and will not be able to repair due to poor designed flaw! all ford cars having water conditions and still allowed to sell this defective cars ! i am a master mechanic and diagnosed it my self ! this is strictly a ford quality issue for all ford edges of all years and most likely all there cars have a water issue . and it is my experience that car dealers know about it and due not issue a repair because of cost! it is a sad day for american products . forum cars built better that this! by my experience

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied with the engine running, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the contact also stated that the door ajar chime was audible and the advance trac warning indicator illuminated. the dealer (hixson ford of monroe, 6300 frontage rd, monroe, la 71202, (318) 388-3300) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 84,500.

Driver door not shut alert continually comes on and leaves car interior lights on. this happens on a daily basis. the door is latching fine. the sensor is faulty.

Door latch failure. initially the door will intermittently not close while parked (would rebound open when pushed shut). now while driving the door will unlatch and fully open while the vehicle is in motion. first it happened when turning a corner from a stopped position. second time it happened while driving straight on a city street at approx 30 mph.

I was on the freeway with the panoramic vista screen half open, when the plastic clips broke(parts that move the screen open/close) the vista screen slammed back as far as it could go, for a second i thought the entire glass had broken and i was in for a world of hurt! this could cause an extreme safety risk if the glass had shattered.

Door latch failure, causing door ajar warning to stay on and battery to drain. i have had to replace battery because of it. i have left shoulder and arm pain from opening and closing it repeatedly, until the latch closes and sends signal to control panel that the door is closed. i have safety concerns because i work at night and don't want a stalled vehicle or no lights in my car when i return to it. also is concerns for safety of passengers and children in car with me. i was told there was a recall on latches on other ford vehicles, why not thie ford edge too? i'm seriously considering trading my vehicle if not fixed. this is my first ford and maybe my last one if it isn't fixed soon!

Driver door ajar warning message illuminates with door securely closed.

The drivers side "door ajar" warning light, remains lit when door is closed. it prevents the doors from locking. also, the interior lights stay on. vehicle is stationary.

Door latch mechanism... door ajar light constantly on

Door ajar warning light stays on constantly, must slam driver door multiple (17+) times to get the light to go out. once light finally goes out, i hear a click and the light goes back on again. worried the latch is not locking properly. this happens whether vehicle is running or not.

Door ajar light stays on. door will not lock. inside light stays on,

Door latch won't close. shows that door is ajar and the lights on inside won't go off because the door looks as if it's open. it happens each time the drivers side door is opened. this has been happening for a few years. in 2014, i thought ford had fixed the issue and i found out today that they only cleaned it. having to pay $588 for a new door latch isn't good especially when there was a recall for several ford vehicles regarding this issue.

Door ajar sensor is continuously coming on when door is closed, interior lights coming on and night, blinding driver. light comes on while driving.

Ford edge left rear door latch failing. the latch sensor randomly faults and it's unclear if the door is properly latched or not. the alarm will sound randomly as the sensor fails while the car is locked. this could cause a situation where the door is not properly closed but the sensor says it is. passengers in the car could be ejected. latch faults when stationary or in motion.

Door ajar sensor failed and says doors are open when they are latched. you are not able to lock the doors when driving with this alarm. *tr

Door ajar , car has been to dealership 5 times for rear door ajar problems, light on in dash and all inside lights on . all they can say is it needs new door ajar latch , very unsafe as i have to drive car till lights turn off inside car , i can not let my kids ride in back seat as its telling me the door is ajar .

The driver's side door latch is broken, so the door ajar indicator light stays on, the lights stay on, and it's generally unsafe to have the door not secured while driving. *tr

The drivers' door latch is not working properly. the door ajar alarm is displayed on the dashboard -and the interior lights will not turn off. it has caused a drained battery and decreased visibility at night -due to glare from interior lights on windshield. i am also not sure if the door is actually properly latched-and if it will open while in motion. i talked to my dealer and was told it would cost $400+ to replace the latch..which i do not think it just -when the car is so new.

Door ajar warning comes on when door is closed. doors won't lock, lights stay on. the door doesn't seem to be open, but i am concerned that it might open while driving. the doors not locking and lights remaining on are safety concerns when i am driving. this started happening a few months ago, and continues to occur every few days. *tr

When door is completely closed.. driver door ajar awareness signal and alarm goes off and continuously repeats and interior light stays on.

The driver side door ajar light stays on when the door is actually closed, causing the interior lights to stay on. had the switch cleaned at a ford dealer a year ago and now started to do the same thing.

Rear left door ajar open alarm don't does even when the door is closed. it randomly works and cause centre lock not locked automatically! please help me to keep my kids save. thanks

Drivers door will not lock, icon on dash says "drivers door adjar"' when the vehicle is in motion. when stopped, even momentarily the "shift to park" logo appears, and a chime sounds. unable to lock the vehicle when parked as the factory alarm starts sounding depending on the outside temperature.

Door ajar sensor began appearing on dashboard sporadically for 1 month. all doors were closed per normal, door locks were negative function while sensor active and vehicle was either parked or moving. after 1 month, sensor was on permanently. door latch/s rr'd at ford dealership where this used cpo edge was purchased 13 months prior. cost of repair: $540. service manager has advised me that in the event of a recall for this issue, i will be reimbursed the entire amount by ford. yeah...right!

Door ajar light keeps flashing while driving even though door is shut. doors will not lock because the car thinks the door is open. overhead lights stay on while driving and while car is parked. can make the car ideal for theft and unsafe while driving down the road because the doors won't lock.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while accelerating from a stop, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated for the driver's side door. the contact also stated that the doors would not lock. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was informed that there was no warranty and the repair would be at the contact's expense. the manufacturer was not aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

Drivers side door ajar light stays on the whole time during driving conditions on my 2012 ford edge, the dome light also stays on making it very difficult to drive the car in the night time. when parked the dome lights stay on during this period also. this started happening on a fulltime basis in sept 2016

Vehicle says that the drivers side door is ajar but the door is closed and latched. causing the vehicle not to lock and the interior lights to stay on.

The door ajar indicator remains on resulting in an inability to lock doors, interior lights remain on, warning chimes/notifications continue while driving. latch appears to be faulty.

The front door ajar light started coming on and staying on no matter how you slammed the door shut (it was not ajar). when stopping it would say to put it in park and shut the door. when parked the inside lights would remain on, draining the battery, ruining the battery.

While driving home from work last week, the drivers door ajar alarm sounded, the interior lights came on and the door locks disengaged. i pulled into a parking lot to re-close the door; which silenced the alarm; but the interior lights stayed on. as i pulled out and got back up to the speed the locks would normally engage, the drivers door alarm sounded again, interior lights remained on and locks never engaged, even when pressing the lock button. pulled over a 2nd time - with the same result. the third time i pulled off the road, i shut the vehicle off and sat for about 5 minutes. again, the same plus the shift into park alarm also sounded as soon as i reached speed when the locks should engage. i continued home listening to 2 alarms blare, the interior lights limiting my view and the doors refusing to lock. when i got home, the interior lights stayed on for almost an hour after i got out of the vehicle; it wasn't until i pulled the exterior door handle a couple times that the lights went out. the next morning, my drive to work was uneventful; that evening on my way home, both alarms are going off, interior lights are on and doors will not lock. on the second evening, i noticed the door ajar warning never came on after i started the vehicle until i reached the speed the door locks should have engaged.

Driver door latch malfunction. remains listed as 'ajar' when closed. interior lights may remain on which makes viability and issue at night.

Driver door ajar warning when door is closed. interior light stays on. doors won't lock the entire time i'm driving. started a few weeks ago, only happened occasionally. now issue is becoming more frequent.

Driver door ajar light remains on at all times, not sure if door is closed all of the way or not, dome lights remain on as well. this happens while parked whether keys are in the ignition or not and also while driving.

The door latch for the driver side door does not latch properly. majority of the time it will continue to say door ajar no matter how many times you try to reopen and close the door. can be worrisome not knowing if the door is fully closed. this just randomly started happening.

The driver door latch has a censor that goes out and causes the car door to think it's open when it is actually closed. this is a safety issue as you could be driving down the road with the dome light on. or not paying attention when it keeps beeping at you while your driving. there are thousands of cases for the car. this needs to be recalled. this is costing owners $500 for a defect in ford.

Doo ajar signal stays on when door is closed. prevents driver from knowing of a real door ajar situation. interior light stays on, creating a night driving hazard and when sitting in car at night. unable to lock doors while inside vehicle, major safety issue. faulty latch or sensor. all issues stemming for faulty door latch or sensor.

Driver side door ajar lite remains on even if door closed securely. door ajar light and signal remains on when car moving or stationary. unable to lock doors while driving. this has been going on for 1 month now.

My 2012 ford edge continues to alert as i am driving that my driver side door is ajar when in reality it is not. i have video of this because it distracts me as i am driving due to the red alert posted on the panel along with the high pitch beep/alarm as the warning. i than have to continually hit the reset button with my left thumb in order to silence the warning until it starts all over again within seconds. while researching this problem, it seems that it is very common within these ford vehicles. it would be greatly appreciated if this could be addressed as a recall. this has been a problem with my vehicle for many months now. one stage observation is that the aforementioned malfunction becomes occurs much more often once the temperature outside exceeds 65 degrees or higher for some reason. thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

We were hit from behind by an 18 wheeler in the hwy and slammed into the vehicle in front of us several times and not 1 airbag went off.

The driver side door ajar warning light illuminates randomly and stays illuminated even when the door is fully closed and locked both while the vehicle is parked and in motion. the warning chime periodically plays and the dome light stays illuminated. my vehicle was purchased as "certified pre-owned" in december 2014 which evidently did not include replacement of the known discrepant door latch component.

When i get in my ford edge and close my door, it says driver door ajar, have to slam the door 4 or 5 times, and interior light stay on and wont lock either ,faulty latch. its a safety issue, was stationary, then when i was driving it came on driver door agar

The driver's door ajar light stays on until the door is slammed shut repeatedly.

Driver side door ajar sensor failing. shows door is ajar when it is not. light will not go off which drains the battery and it affects the locking system when in drive which is a safety issue. vehicle is a few years old with less than 45k miles. do a search on the internet and it is easy to see it is a widespread issue that should be recalled and fixed by ford. in my opinion this is a byproduct of ford outsourcing to mexico without proper quality control. very disappointed that ford hasn't handled this very common issue that seems to occur around 40k miles according to other owner reports. because it is expensive for the consumer to fix at the dealership it would appear that ford would rather profit off of their faulty product than take the hit to make it right. bad business - will be thinking about this when i go to purchase my next vehicle.

There is an instrument panel alarm that says "driver door ajar" that remains despite repeated opening and closing of the driver's door. we paid almost $600 to have the sensor replaced about a year ago, and now it is doing the same thing. the dealership wants to charge us again to fix it. it is a safety issue. not only does this alarm cause constant blinking and warning tones when driving, but the interior lights stay on at night for about 1 minute after driving, and i've had the car battery discharge twice when exiting the vehicle and trying to lock up for the night. if you slam the door repeatedly, it sometimes will go off, but there have been many times when i've opened and slammed the drivers door over 10 times, and i just have to live with the alarm, noise, and distraction. it has been an issue - this second time - for about a month.

Dashboard computer says rear door is ajar when it's not, will not the doors lock and dome late stays on

In april 2016, we started experiencing an issue with the drivers door latch not connecting and our drivers door ajar light staying on. we would manually have to reopen the latch to close the door but this still didn't always make this door ajar light do out. there were times we would have to close the door up to 5 times to get the light to go out and feel that the door was closed. it was worse on a trip at the end of april to florida in which we were unable to get this to happen and couldn't get our interior lights to go out since it was telling us the door was still open. this issue would happen while parked or driving. the light would be out when leaving the driveway and then come on while on the road! we had this checked three times, first two unsuccessful and the third we were told it was a broken door latch and wasn't covered so we had it repaired at the cost of $329.85! then i hear there are recalls on other ford models but the edge was not on the list and it is the exact same issue that is listed and described in the recall of many other ford vehicles!

Door ajar warning remains on for driver side door when door is shut. also interior light remains on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that the door ajar warning indicator was constantly illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a sensor for the driver side door needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure occurred for approximately four months every day. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
