Door ajar sensor consistently trickers when door is closed unable to deactivate. occurs when opening then closing doors to drive out or parking to dismount from car.
Takata recall' - i cannot count how many times this has happened to my vehicle. the breaks just refuses to function and the speed would not decrease. i have taken it to the dealership several times and they cannot find anything wrong with the breaks and they are not doing anything about it. last sunday (september 8,), my family and i almost died on the way to church. the vehicle would not stop!!! it finally came to a halt after been stopped by a pavement. i had to call ford for a tow truck (which i had to pay for but they gave me a discount). my car has been with their service department for three days now. they keep saying that they cannot find anything wrong with it - this was exactly what happened the first time and 1-2 months later, we are back at the exact same spot!! there are several people online with the same issue. this car is not safe. who else is supposed to diagnose a car but the manufacturer?!! if the manufacturer cannot find what is wrong with it, then the world is in big trouble. i thank god for always protecting myself and my family. my vehicle was in motion from highway to turning to red light. this car is not safe for the road. **on the next page: i answered yes to was there a crash" - i didn't crash into another vehicle, i crashed into a pavement at church that stopped the car.
When driving down highway 700 i went to put on brakes and it felt like i didn't have any it went all the way to the floor before stopping! basically the brakes are just barley there. very dangerous and scary not to mention i had 2 kids with me. this happened before about 9 months ago it was a recall and was fix but now it has happened again. also my door ajar indicator light keeps staying on.
Takata recall i purchased my 2012 ford edge sel april 22, 2019. today, may 31st 2019 on my way horne from work the vehicle lost steering and power. i had just passed a semi-truck on a small farm town black top road and came up on a stop sign. in the process of turning to the left from the stop the incident occurred. luckily i was able to make it out of the road. after several attempts to restart the vehicle i had to find an alternate way home. *when starting the vehicle the engine did run however it sounded as it was "starved" or "mis-firing", there was heavy white smoke dispersing from the exhaust and when i would attempt to put it in drive it would die. the oil level is fine, the antifreeze is fine, it is not overheating and there were no signs or symptoms of an issue. this was completely unexpected and occurred with no warning. the vehicle is currently parked where it died; a half hour away from my home. i am thankful my 15 year old daughter was not driving when this happened and even more thankful that this sporadic activity did not result in a fatal or crippling crash with another individual. as i research the causes it appears this issue is not isolated and has been occurring since 2008. i pray it is investigated and notice is shared before the potentials become a reality. please be proactive vs reactive and assure this issue is addressed for the people.
I was driving slowly down a street at about 20-30 mph and tried to close my sunroof and the plastic that holds it into the moving track broke off leaving it stuck in the open position. i took it to ford thinking that since there have been multiple issues with their edge cars' roofs, they would be able to repair it. instead they wanted to charge me $8,000 to repair the whole roof.
Door ajar error. door is closed but the latch mechanism doesn't engage and send a a proper signal to the car, so lights stay on.
Door ajar light is on telling driver to shife to park door locks will not stay loaded when driving, so anyone can open car door while traveling down the road , this is not safe for someone may open door and fall out or if your at traffic light someone out side of car can open door, this is unsafe , you stand a chance of being car jackked or some other bad things can happen. i'd say car is unsafe and the problem needs to be recalled. i had ford dealer check it out and said it needs a driver door latch assy. replaced this problem had occurred on and off over the pass year or so but would seem to fix it selfwith in a few miles but now it stays on
When i am driving to work at 5:00 am down the interstate my interior lights will just come on. my edge has interior lights that won't go off door ajar is on the dashboard. late at night when my car is not in motion and my lights just turn on my home security system has recorded it several times and the car has sat off for many hours. my door ajar light is always on. for safety reasons this should be addressed by the ford company.
The rear left door "door ajar" indicator would show that the door was open, even when slammed shut. at first i had to slam the door harder, but after a while even that didn't work. when that didn't work, it became an issue because my interior lights wouldn't go off after leaving the car. i had to break the part to get my lights to go off so i didn't drain my battery overnight.
The rear driver side door latch sensor does not detect when the door is closed resulting in a door ajar signal and the internal lights staying on. additionally the auto lock function when the car is driving is disabled.
Drivers door is incorrectly reported as being open, interior lights are turned on, parked or while driving and stopped at traffic lights, impairing visibility outside at night. secondary prevents doors vehicle from being locked by external pad when parking the vehicle as well as keeping lights on draining the battery. trying to open/close door multiple times eventually resolves, but gets frustrating when it is 5+ min trying to do this in rain or in parking lots this has been increasing in frequency and more frequent in cold weather than warm..
When driving car transmission randomly goes into neutral and when you give it gas it will not go. this is very dangerous. one could get hit and killed. i checked with ford and there is no recall youtube shows issues w/this

Vehicle displays a warning "vehicle coolant over temperature" the vehicle had been inspected twice and the technicians claimed not to have been able reproduce the error and also claimed that the computer was not "spitting" out any errors. the message displays within the first file miles after the car has been stationary for more than 2 hours and it is displayed for 10-20 seconds.
Door ajar light stays on after car door is shut which in turn leaves your dome lights on which in turn will run your battery dead. doors will not lock and that's a safety hazard if you have children in the backseat
From june 2018 to june 2019 i have invested over $4000 in primarily the braking sytem of my car. i continue to have issues when after filling my gas tank the car hesitates in starting. i have replaced everything that has to do with the breaking system from brake pads to hcu system to the abs system. even the new parts have had to be replaced because they were faulty.

When you start your car. a message comes on that doors are not closed. it happens randomly every time you drive the car. you can open and shut your doors. all the time. the car also randomly honks the horn and the lights all flash. we have changed the batteries in the remotes and it still happens. this has been going on for while.
The door ajar light will stay on even when the driver's side door is closed. it takes multiple times of shutting or slamming the door to turn off. when i drive with the door ajar light still on, the doors will not automatically lock, which is unsafe. about 10 instances within the past two months, the car alarm went off for no reason, both day and night in different locations. if this continues to happen, it can run the battery down. i got a diagnostics test performed on the car for $95 and it is a faulty latch in the driver's side door. the ford dealership estimated it would cost $510 + tax.
I just bought this 2012 ford edge. it worked fine at the dealer. now after ii get it home, the lights will not go off and the car battery died. i thought it was an old battery. bought a new one. then i noticed the door light wouldn't go off. now i have a car i paid 140000 for and i can't drive it because the light will not go off which drains the battery. this should be a recall for fords. i am amazed it is not. we need something done to fix this so we can drive the car. i do not have an extra 650.00 to fix it temporarily.
Door lock assembly, although door is completely shut, door ajar alert stays on, which causes all the lights to remain on and it does not allow you to lock your doors, which is a safety issue when you have children who could potentially open the door while in motion. some lights remain on after door is closed which can drain battery. issue occurs regardless of whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion
Backup camera is upside down. less than 92000 miles happen only when is reverse. when shifted into drive picture remains and take several min. to return to normal. while waiting to return to normal functions no functions are able to be used.
While driving my 2012 ford edge limited with less than 60000 miles the vehicle just died in the middle of traffic, no steering, no power nothing. the problem has happened close to 15 times.

A wrench warning would just appear on my dash and my car would totally just shut down. i can be on the highway and this happens..happened 2 more times then finally took it to ford and they replaced my throttle body for 750.00. picked car up and 2 days later happened again. took back to ford and they said nothing is wrong.

The door ajar light will turn on and will not be able to turn off unless the door is shut multiple times. it may also turn on when driving as well.
Front passenger door causes light to stay on as door ajar. per ford it is the latch and needs replacement at $517. same door repair was made 1 year ago and ford chose to clean latch instead of replacing when it was under warranty. now warranty has expired and they say latch needs to be replaced. this is the 3rd door that has had this same problem. when door ajar light is on doors will not lock causing a safety hazard to my children as passengers.

Driver door alarm/sensor/light. the door light continues to stay on after the door is closed. it will ding after i let my food off of the break, the rest of my doors will not lock (safety hazard i have two kids. the kids are able to open the door when i am moving, i have to have them push the lock down so it will be locked), we continue to shut the door to make it go off. this has clearly happened to other 2012 ford edge models. it is an expensive fix and it a safety hazard. this happens everyday, parked, on, off, driving, what ever the circumstances it's happening. we have to make sure not to leave the keys in the ignition or the battery will run down.

The door ajar warning light on the dash when the door is closed. there has been no accident or damage done on the door let alone the vehicle. i understand there is a latch malfunction. if not caught when exiting the vehicle the alarm then goes off after an hour or so. the door sensor seemed to clear itself and we managed to not use it after getting it to clear and all of a sudden driving down the road the warning popped back up on the dash, door ajar.
The door ajar light comes on when door is completely shut on the drivers side, it prevents from my doors from locking and i have children in the car. it has trapped me in the car, i had to climb over into the passenger seat and exit out of that door. it also drains my battery because the lights stay on in the car.
After entering my vehicle and the door will be completely closed the door ajar sensor will come on and interior lights. also, as i was riding down the road, out of no where the door ajar sensor comes on and interior lights come on and all the doors unlocked by themselves...soon as i locked them back, they unclocked again on their own.

The door ajar light and warning sounds alert when all doors of the vehicle are definitely closed. this has caused me to ruin 2 batteries in the last 1.5 years. also it causes my door locking mechanism to not engage while driving leaving me vulnerable and unsafe as a female driver. my ford dealer will charge me +$500 to fix the 2 faulty mechanisms, then probably another +$500 when the other 2 begin not working.
The driver side door sensor does not register the door as closed when it is. the dash warning light comes on and stays on and the interior lights do not shut off. the driver side door has to be closed up to 30 times before the sensor registers the door as closed. the dash warning remains lit and "shift to park" comes on when coming to a stop at a light.

Door ajar sensor gets stuck and indicates an open door, even though it is properly closed and latched. this leads to being unable to get the dome light to come off and drains batteries. varying numbers of door closures are required to get the sensor to reset. makes no difference if door is slammed or shut gently.

The driver door ajar light stays on most of the time. it makes the interior lights stay on unless turned off manually and can drain the cars battery and makes it hazardous to drive at night. the notification light comes on from when the car is in park and when the car is shifted into gear or rolling the notification sound comes on. the doors do not lock when the car is in motion and the notification sound beeps for several mins after the car is is in drive.
Door ajar sensor ...this is causing my dome lights to just come on going down the road and tank goodness when this happened there wasn't another car near me because i would have crashed into them because it blinded me. also my doors want lock when this sensor is messing up. i have already had one replaced and now another one i think this is a major problem and ford will not recognize it.
Driver door ajar light stays on or comes in intermittently. this will cause dome light to come on at night and blind me, also causes doors not to be able to lock. these are grave safety concerns of mine where i have a seven year old and on the occasion i have to drive through "unsafe" neighborhoods to get home. this has also caused my battery to die and left me stranded. all of these issues are safety related to either my vehicle, as well as mine and my family's lives.
Door latch ajar warning. doors are unable to stay locked. it is unsafe. the warning light for "door ajar" and "put gear in park" comes on nonstop while driving. the light stays on after parked for at least 20 minutes which drains battery. i went to the dealer and had to pay $615.91 to fix. i would like to be reimbursed for faulty locks. i am also afraid the other three are going to do the same thing.

The driver's door ajar warning light and alarm goes off even when the door is securely latched. slamming door doesn't help and interior light can stay on drawing down the battery. this is a safety issue since it can't be certain if the door is really closed. alarm goes off every time car slows down or stops. this was a problem the day we purchased the vehicle and was repaired by the dealer that day. it began happening again last week.
