Back camera not working properly, doors will not lock properly, fear for children and door unlocked
The driver side door latch will not latch properly causing the door ajar light to stay on. the door shuts and locks but the door ajar light stays on. when the vehicle is in motion the car will not lock all the doors because it is sensing that the front door is not shut. the interior lights stay on causing it hard to see at night while driving.
The driver door ajar switch will not sense the door is shut when the vehicle is stationary. the light will not go out after repeated shutting. when backing out of my garage, i cannot see when it is dark because the interior lights blind the driver. i am fearful i will hit someone while backing up. when driving forward, the lights go out around 15 mph. the door ajar switch is on every time the door is shut.
The door ajar light stays illuminated permanently whenever either rear door is opened and closed. because of this, the automatic door locks do not lock automatically and the interior lights stay illuminated. ford charges over $400 for each door to fix this problem. this should a recall!
The door latch mechanism on my driver's side door slowly began failing. at roughly 35k miles, the "door ajar" warning would appear on my vehicle display. i would reclose the door and the warning would go away. it randomly continued to happen and resolve itself while stationary or while running, until about 95k miles ( 8 mo ago). there were electronic sprays you could spray into the latch mechanism that would make the warning go away for a limited amount of time. eventually the entire electrical mechanism failed. i could not lock my doors with the ignition on and eventually just learned to 'approve/ok' the warning every time the ignition was on. unfortunately there were several times when i was actually driving with an semi-latched/open door. i didn't know because i 'ok'd the 'door ajar' warning like normal. the only way i would know something was diffeent, would be when i drove at a high enough rate of speed to notice the increased road noise from my side of the vehicle. it is also my understanding that newer vehicles automatically lock once under way to disengage the door opening mechanism in case of an accident that might open the door- clearly this is not possible with the failed door latch. the only work around that i have discovered is to remove a fuse which removes the interior lighting and prevents the battery from draining. i still have to 'ok" the 'door ajar' warning though. as for locking the vehicle for safety in an accident, if you lock the vehicle first then turn on the ignition the vehicle remains locked. this workaround is rarely going to happen in the real world. there was a 'cleaning' procedure that several dealers offered for around $200, but it was not guaranteed and the $400 replacement might still have to occur with a latch that still often failed (per internet forums). my repair is scheduled for 10/8/16.
Switch on shifter that tells the computer whether the car is in park or running malfunctioned. component requires replacement of the entire shifter and has the ability to cause the vehicle not to start since it never registers that it is in part when stopped. backup camera linkage failure rendering the back camera inoperative. the vehicle was stationary but problem with shifter switch reporting the car not in park could result in the car not cutting off or stopping when running. to fix these malfunctions and failures cost over $900 dollars. these are engineering defects not owner related.
Door mechanism isn't working correctly and 'door ajar' will present. this keeps the interior lights on and doesn't allow auto locks to engage because it thinks the door is still open. it isn't.
Door ajar message on all the time
The driver side door ajar sensor is faulty and keeps the door ajar warning on the dash, it also keeps the dome lights on in the car which can obstruct sight during night time driving, it also runs the battery down causing us to continuously start the car or let the battery completely die, it also keeps the doors from locking which could result in my car being broken into. this warning stays on almost always whether the car is stationary or being driven.
Door ajar lights stay on even with doors securely closed. they go off randomly so dome lights come on even with nobody in car causing my battery to drain. the door ajar light come on randomly while driving causing an annoying distraction. this affects both front doors.
The dash indication light is illuminated at all times even with the door being closed. this is a safety concern because the other doors on the vehicle will not lock while parked and/or in motion. i have driven on the interstate with my doors unlocked and my interior light on because of this sensor. i hope that this can be recalled immediately.
The following three bullet points all happen in conjunction when i close the driver side door. happens while driving and the interior light stay in even when the vehicle is parked after exiting the vehicle. *the driver side door ajar light stays on when the door is closed. *the interior lights stay on in the vehicle while starting to drive and stay on upon exiting the vehicle. * i am unable to lock the doors while the vehicle is in motion i had the door latch replaced once a few years ago for the same issue.... this is a huge safety issue. when driving at night , the interior lights stay on for a while after starting to drive. and it is a huge safety hazard that the doors will not lock while driving especially with kids in the vehicle.
The door ajar alarm on the passenger door will not turn off even though the door is shut. this causes the door lock not to engage and the inside lights to stay on even while driving. i don't have a way to lock my doors, even manually.
The driver side door sensor is continually saying the door is open, when it is closed. the lights stay on, the locks won't lock while driving.
Door ajar alert comes on while driving (car in motion) - doors unlock, overhead lights turn on. i stop, open/shut door firmly continue driving and receive the same message later in the drive. i have on several recent occasions received this alert while stationary. this is occurring off and on but now has become more common. the door is shut but the alert comes on at a variety of intervals and when in motion the doors unlock and the lights overhead come in which can be dangerous in and distracting. most recent occurrence 12/3/15
Door sensor, latch issues. known problem with ford vehicles. door ajar stays on which drains the battery hence the dome lights stay on. my ford edge will not lock, causing very dangerous circumstances when driving or stopped at a light in an area that is unsafe. will not lock while parked, in drive (on highway or road) or with the ignition turned off. i was over my warranty by 1,000 miles and ford customer service refused to help me, told me to take it in and pay for the work and service call and submit a claim.
Vehicle losses all throttle control vehicle does not shut off but the wrench light comes on the dash and has no throttle response. i have to turn vehicle off then restart to reset the computer. every thing works great for a couple days then it does it again. i have had this happen in the middle of a intersection, on i 95 , i 64, i 264, coming close to being hit on passenger side in a intersection with my grand baby in the vehicle. i have had the vehicle in the dealership here in norfolk virginia. they charge me 125.00 and said they could not duplicate the problem. the dealer also stated they think it might be a throttle body. i told them to put one on it and they told me that they don't just replace parts. i picked it up from the dealership and 2 days later it did this again. you could be doing 60, 65. or 25 when it decides to lose throttle control. in the middle of a intersection turning or going 60 mph on the interstate it don't matter. i feel this is a safety concern and needs to be addressed. you can read about people with the same problem on the internet.
It's my 2011 ford edge sel. the driver ajar light stays on all the time no matter how hard i slam the door. this situation is unsafe because while driving it leaves all the doors unsecured. this is not right, anyone could come at the lights or stop signs and open up the vehicle. also it not safe for the kids. this is a big security issue that needs to be looked into.
Door ajar not turning off
The sensor in my driver side door warns me that my door is "ajar" when all doors are shut. when this warning is on, i am not able to lock any doors in my vehicle (neither in motion nor parked) and i often travel with toddlers. the dome lights are also illuminated so it is almost impossible to see on the road at night.
Just driving down the road-it has happened in city driving slow and on interstate driving fast- vehicle goes limp and red wrench lite comes on. it has happened 3 times in 2weeks. i have to coast to side of road, put car in park and restart then everything is fine. you never know when it is going to happen. this is very dangerous and someone is gonna get killed! when putting vehicle on the machine it will not read code because wrench lite goes off when u kill and restart it. this seems to be happening on other ford and lincoln models from what i'm reading on forums. ford needs to recall and fix this problem asap!
Door ajar light stays on all the time, this cause the doors to not be able to lock, the interior light stays on for an extended period of time. when the interior lights stay on at night it makes driving difficult at times. the interior lights staying on in the winter time have also made it drain the battery down so vehicle has to be jump started.
The door ajar sensor does not register that the door is closed.
The driver door ajar light keeps coming on causing the interior light to stay on and car not to lock. weather you are parking or trying to drive away, you have to open and close the door a bunch of times for it to acknowledge the door is shut.
I believe the electronic throttle body has failed as the edge has similar malfunctions as other fords affected by the defective throttle body. the edge dies in the middle of driving and display a wrench on the sync system.
Vehicle lost power while driving on busy highway. i95 miami southbound express lanes. wrench light came on, engine was shaking baldy. limited soft shoulder. wife was very scared
Driver door ajar warning popped up when i got into my car in the morning. closed it multiple times but would not go away and interior lights remained on. dealership stated there is a tsb for this issue and they will need to remove door panel, lubricate mechanism and reset mechanism. car was fine. next day, driver door ajar lit up while driving. was unable to get warning to go away. interior lights remain on. mechanism is stiffer now and locked into place when i was trying to get the warning to go away and i was unable to close the door. after a unlocking/locking, opening door handle, finally was able to get mechanism to move so the door could be closed. interior lights remained on because warning light remains. i paid $100 warranty deductible to get it fixed and now it is worse. ford - report as recall and fix this!! what if it gets stuck again while i am in the car? i will not be able to get out by driver side door. i also don't want to be stuck with a dead battery. i am female!!
Door ajar light comes on and stays on and interior lights will not got out and at night time this is a real hazard from being blinded from the lights and you can't turn them off, also the door locks will not set because of this switch and other safety hazard. it happen about 1 month ago and has been a ongoing problem.
The driver door sensor is not functioning properly. the door never registers as "closed" and as such it intermittently sets off the car alarm and drains the battery when the car is not in use.
Door ajar and latch problem. * door ajar signal stays on when door is closed * interior light stays on when door is closed * door won't lock while vehicle is moving
The driver's side door sensor is not working. door shows open, and the interior lights won't turn off. won't lock doors and several other problems. from all the feedback i've read, sure would like to see ford do the right thing and issue a recall on this problem. thanks!
The door ajar indicator remains on. the dome light stays on and the doors will not lock. 2nd occurrence with this vehicle and now the dealer wants $500.00 to repair it. this occurs immediately when the vehicle is first started and remains on the entire time the vehicle is running.
The door ajar sensor keeps alerting - although door is not ajar - when car sits for any period of time this drains the battery. have had to replace battery twice. too expensive to have dealer repair.
My 2011 ford edge inside interior light stays on for several minutes every time i get in the car, i guess its the sensor on my door but its happened on the back hatch door as well. on my dashboard it tell me that i have an open door which its completely closed but light stays on until i drive off. or when i get out of the car and lock the doors the light stays on for several minutes, its draining my battery. when all of this happens i can not even lock my doors when i am driving the car, i need to lock my doors for safety purposes, my doors are always unlock because of this issue. also, car alarm will engage when car is parked and locked.
My vehicle displayed the door ajar alarm after the door had been shut securely. this occurred intermittently for two days, and then began to occur every time i got in the vehicle. a couple days later it went back to being intermittent. i would not get the notification when i first got in the vehicle, but then the alarm would go off while i was driving.
Door ajar light remains on-vehicle will not lock while in motion-interior lights will not turn off while parked-electrical components drain battery as if the door remains open at all times even when the door is closed-needs to be recalled and fixed for ford owners as this is not the only ford vehicle with this problem-ford needs to stand behind their product and step up
Driver's door ajar warning, causing the automatic locks to malfunction. also prevents dome and courtesy lights to remain on and overheat.
Rear door(s) show ajar even though the door(s) are closed. i open and close the door(s) and the computer reads them as being ajar and the interior lights stay on for awhile. i can't set my alarm because of the problem. in researching the problem on the web i found out that there are alot of people having the same problem on their ford products.
The door ajar light stays on for both the driver side and passenger side doors. this is causing the interior lights to stay on and is draining my battery. it is also causing the interior light to stay on at night which is making it hard to see. the doors won't lock when in drive because of this problem too.
The driver door ajar sensor turns on when the door is shut. the door can be closed multiple times but the door ajar sensor still believes the door is not shut. this causes the battery to drain.
Ford edge suddenly lost power ( vehicle still running). no response from accelerator even though vehicle was still running. had to roll to side of road (very unsafe). a warning light briefly came on showing ":awd off" and after a few seconds warning changed the "wrench" icon. this happened a second time just a few hours later. i scheduled appointment with dealer for the next day, and it happend again on the way to the dealer. dealer ran codes, all passed and couldn't find issue. it happened again 10 miles after picking up from the dealer. rescheduled for next day with dealer. issue happened yet again on the way to the dealer. once again dealer could not find issue or any error codes. in summary, it happened 5 times in less than 30 miles of driving. this vehicle is not safe to drive.
The driver side door sensor is malfunctioning causing the doors to not lock during operation of the vehicle. ) the sensor does not recognize that the door is closed and therefore the interior lights stay on (even at night). this also drains the battery when the car is sitting overnight
This the fourth time door sensor (door not closed) appears and inside dome light is on while driving dash is lite up and worst of all the doors donot lock which concerns us due to having small grand kids in back seating area. if they open door and take their seat belt off we can not stop car fast enough.
Door ajar light stays on regardless of how many times i close the door. the door is closed but the sensor stays on and the light inside the car will not turn off (due to the car thinking the door is open)--not sure if the door does not close all the way. seems unsafe to drive with the car this way since i don't know if it is securely closed.
Vehicle lost power, wrench light came on dashboard. had to pull over out of traffic, shut off car and re-start. happened 2 times since june 9, 2015. car seems to run strangely, seems to surge or want to speed up a bit. 13no3 issue? seems to be something to do with the throttle body.
The door latch was replaced because the door open warning kept coming on.
The driver door ajar indicator stays on even after closing the door. cannot lock the doors and the interior dome lights stay on after closing the door.
The driver door ajar light is always on, it won't shut off. same with interior lights because of this. it needs to be recalled.
The driver's door ajar alert and chime shows up when the door is clearly closed tightly. the dome light stays on.
Drivers side door ajar light on. interior lighting will not turn off. user can't lock doors while driving. dome light stays on draining battery.
