The door ajar error appears on the dash, even when the door is fully closed. the alarm cannot be properly activated because of this. the door was not hit in an accident, it just developed one day intermittently and is now constant. i am having to replace the door latch to resolve the issue.
The 'door ajar' warning light on my 2011 edge periodically comes on and stays on. the warning indicates that various doors are open. sometimes it's the driver door; other times it's the left passenger door or the back gate. each time the doors were closed properly, however the sensor thinks that the doors are open. this malfunction causes the interior dome lights and the exterior lights on the side mirrors to remain on, which drains the battery. originally, i thought this issue was a problem specific to my vehicle. however, in an attempt to understand the problem, i conducted an internet search and discovered that the 'door ajar' warning is a common and well known problem with ford products including the edge. this problem is not a result of use or wear and tear of the vehicle; it clearly is a mechanical /engineering flaw with the vehicle. i feel that this situation is a safety issues and should be corrected by ford motor company. on september 19, 2016, i sent an email to the ford motor company customer relationship center (crc), explaining the problem and seeking help. i was assigned a case number (cas-10612005-p1f4g7) and was told to contact a local dealer to diagnosis the problem. on september 27, 2016, a service department representative from beau townsend ford informed me that the problem was with the door latch and the cost to repair is approximately $385.00 per latch. he also informed me that ford motor company would not pay for the repair.next, i called the crc to appeal the decision.i was told that the problem was not a recall item and that ford would not repair the vehicle. i was also told that i had no further recourse regarding this issue.
Driver's door sensor is bad. vehicle does not recognize that the driver's door is closed and will not lock or automatically turn off interior lights. at night, i have to back out of a long driveway only being able to use the backup camera. once in forward motion, the light will eventually turn off but the driver's door will not lock. what is to prevent someone from walking up to and opening my car door while stopped at a traffic light?? on one occasion, the door ajar icon did not come on when starting the car but came on about 8 miles down the road. also, when you park the car and lock it, it still does not recognize that the door is shut and does not automatically turn the lights off again. the ford dealership wants around $600.00 to fix this issue, i paid them $65.00 to "clean the sensor" because the guy said that it might correct the issue or at least hold it off a while. i picked the car back up 3 days ago and now that door ajar light is on all the time. before, i could at least open and close the door about 3-4 times and the light would go off.
I was on my way to work on 9/2/16 making a left hand turn when i loss acceleration. the car was still running but i had no gas pedal. i was able to limp to the side of the road, thank god i did not get rear ended. the panel showed a wrench. i was towed to a shop and they cleaned the throttle body and said i should be good to go. well yesterday got up to go to the grocery store and the same thing happened, no acceleration. it took me 20 mins to get around the block and back into my garage. my car only has appx. 40,000 miles and i feel it is unsafe to drive. upon researching this problem i am not the only one having this problem. as you can see hear http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/edge/2011/engine/loses_power_wrench_light_on.shtml. i feel like ford's is waiting for someone to get hurt or worse to address this issue. any help you may offer would be appreciated.
Driver door ajar stayed on....interior lights stayed on....doors would not stay locked....high beams would not turn off. could not drive my vehicle at night. all safety concerns. i just paid ford motor company for new switch assembly and door latch assembly and labor. total cost was 833.19 for parts and labor. when i took my car in i mentioned to the dealer that i had seen numerous complaints online with the same issue. they didn't care at all. i had no choice but to pay to repair.
Door latch and door ajar light issues. when the door is closed, the door ajar warning light remains on. this causes several safety issues. it will not allow for the door to lock. the dome lights remain on whether the vehicle is parked or driving. the domes lights remaining on will also drain the car battery. it has been repaired by the dealer two times prior, but the repair doesn't last long. this is a major issue for the vehicle.
Purchased my 2011 ford edge in june/july of 2014 for jc lewis ford in savannah, ga. turns out there was an "extended warranty" in place because the brake booster's in this car have been failing. i'm not sure why they would have sold me a car without completing a repair or informing me of the possibility of malfunction. about a month ago, i was driving down the interstate at about 65 mph when i was cut off by another vehicle. when i went to tap the brakes to disengage the cruise control, nothing happened! i had to press the brakes about halfway down to get the cruise control to disengage and, even then, it felt like i did not have power brakes.
Driver door ajar light remains on, doors would not lock and overhead lights remained on. issue was first reported 8/19/2016. the door ajar indicator light would remain on while the car was in motion and parked. the dealer notes indicate: "performed tsb 15-0013a, remove the door latch on one (1) front door and cycle the latch following the service procedure.". light remained off until 12/2016. the door ajar indicator would come on and not go off - both in motion and parked. on 1/13/17 dealer notes: "cause: 23943a trim panel - front door - remove and install (23942/23943) - l. 1 8t4z*7821813*b latch 23942a6r latch assembly - front door - replace (21812/21813/219a64/219a65) - l. i was charged a deductible of $50. i asked about a recall and was told there was none.
After the car is srarted the door ajar warning is displayed. the warning can be cleared, but the power door locks malfunction. the doors will lock, but they imediatly unlock. this is the case anytime, anywhere the car is running. going on for several months.
Eight times within the past 60 days we have been driving our car and with no warning it slows and will not pick up speed until we turn the ignition off and turn it back on a wrench appears in the dashboard, we haven't had any accidents but we are afraid to dive the car on the interstate its just a matter of time before we are in the wrong place at the wrong time and this happens. *tr
My vehicle smells like gas after 5 minutes driving. took the vehicle to the dealer they could tell me the problem and insisted they did not smell nothing. i very concern. i can't drive the vehicle like this. the gas smell its bad. i found a recall on the body control module on this vehicle. please help me fixed this problem.
I have a loud popping noise when i turn to the left. when i pull into a parking stall and when i back out and u turns.its been to two differant shops. one shop replaced the strut, strut tower barring ,lower a arm, axel, strut mount, and the power steering.the noise is still there.the next shop replaces the rack and pinion and its still there. ithy said it is a break in the body weld some were but thy dont know were. i called ford motor company and spok with a gentelman named mark but he was of no help to me. i tool the vehicle to a autobody shop but thy could not figuer it out either. if there is a break in the weld its is a unsafe car to drive. mark from ford moter company will not return my phone calls to try and help me resolve the issue.its been two months i have been dealing with this and i cant get no help the one time i spok with mark from ford he was saying if the car cant be fixed he would take the steps to get me out of the car and into something else but like i said i have yet to seep with him.im to the piont that if we cant get this resolved im going to get a lawer .in the whole prosses im paying for a vehicle i dont want ro put my kids in let alone drive it not knowing if something will happen so pleas help me in any way possable.
Safety recall driver door sencer on my dash board registers my door isn't closed. dome light stays on and my doors won't lock.no matter how many times u close it it won't cut off. concerns me because what if my door isn't closed and it opens up while driving. i just bought this car used. i also smell burning rubbery hey my vents when idling.
The door ajar warning will not turn off. makes it impossible to lock the doors when traveling,
Takata recall: driver door ajar warning light comes on when trying to lock my vehicle by remote or manually after parking. does not matter if i am entering or exiting the vehicle. this warning light is on while i am driving, and it turns on when starting engine. it will happen consistently at various times such as, there are times that the interior lights will come on while the vehicle is parked for at least an hour and the driver door is locked, once i am finally able to lock it. whenever the interior lights comes on for no apparent reason (other times the interior lights would turn on and off again after a minute), and i would have to work on getting my door ajar light off again. very, very annoying, and i had to replace my battery due to this issue. i bought this vehicle used september 2015, and it all started a week after purchasing it. i love my car, but i hate to drive it because of this issue. please issue a recall, i should not have to pay for a faulty issue that i did not cause. this has been happening to me every single day, every time i use my vehicle. i took it to the service department and was told that there is no recalls. this has become worse, and i am starting to distrust any ford vehicles. something really has to be done about this!
Car wil gradually slow down leading to a complete stop. power to the engine seems to decrease and speed slows. happened 4 times over several weeks. it would happen then an hour later car would be completely fine and drive ok for a few days and then happen again. happened when the car was driving at 30-50 mph on normal city streets (not highway) we took it to the dealer, where they identified the throttle body as the cause of the issue. our vin is not eligible for the replacement program though; which we do not understand - meets the year/make/model and characteristics of issue. ever since we purchased the car we have also had lingering electrical issues - separate of the throttle body, that no one has been able to identify -- drive door light says open and it's not, taillights randomly flash when car is off and no one is in car, etc. we are thinking this one was just a dud. we also own another ford edge 2014 model - no issues. car is currently being repaired for the throttle body issue. we can provide receipts / info once we pick it up. called ford and they said that vehicles identified for the recall were based on date of manufacture and location - they must've missed us.
Door latch issues - door latches are faulty and causes battery to drain, lights to come on and off, you are also not sure if the door is closed or open (safety issue) i have seen many complaints on this issue. why no recall
Door ajar warning light comes on because of a faulty sensor. only comes on when vehicle is first started and makes the automatic locks useless. interior light stays on, doors will not lock automatically, or can they be locked remotely. seems to be a very common issue with many ford products.
Edge loses power wrench comes on
I have had my 2011 ford edge in to the dealer to repair the door ajar light three times now. they repaired it the previous two times and now they are saying it requires new door latches. this is a safety issue. i've research this and there are a number of complaints about this problem. the door will not lock when the light is on..the dome light stays on and runs the battery down. after seeing the number of instances of these problems i'm shocked there has not be a recall.
Door ajar light, on. i went online and found out that a lot of ford vehicles have this issue. the door ajar light keeps going on. apparently i need to replace the door ajar switch.
The drive side door keeps saying ajar no matter how many times you close it. this causes a variety of issue because it is a sensor problem. the car will ding thinking that keys are not in the ignition and at times have caused the door not close. this also cause the interior lights to stay on when all doors are closed. this happens both when the vehicle is in motion and in park.
My front driver side door ajar warning light stays illuminated whether the door is closed hard or soft, and completely closed. once i reach speeds of 10mph while driving, the automatic locking feature does not work. if i push the lock button while driving, the doors automatically unlock. the warning light is constantly illuminated and my interior lights stay on for several minutes after my car is turned off even though the door is closed which is depleting my battery. this is a safety concern because i have 2 young kids behind these doors i cannot lock.
Door ajar warning remains on continuously, as well as the overhead lights. doors will not lock unless you try several times to open and close the door.
Passanger door latch fails, door comes open. interior lights will not turn off and locks will not lock because of failing door latch
The front drivers door ajar warning will intermittently display, even while the door is closed. we have opened and re-closed the door with efforts to remove the alert on the dash to no avail. we informed our local ford dealer, who said they can correct this by replacing the door latch inside of the door for $375, to which i replied no. they then said they could do it for $325, to which i declined again. they said there is no recall, nor is it covered under warranty. aside from the message on the dash, no other issues have occurred. i.e. lights on, battery dead. ...yet.
My door ajar light will not go off and it effects the battery. i have to keep slamming my door untils it finally goes off.
Door ajar light stays on, acts as if drivers door isn't closed. also prevents us from locking vehicle up when we leave it. started with only driver door. now is rear drivers side door also. concerned about safety of family and our valuables with this issue that shouldn't be happening.
The 'door ajar' signal stays on even when the door is securly shut. this also causes the dome/interior lights to stay on. this also makes it so you can't fully lock up the car. after a certain amount of time this also causes the alarm to go off while the car is unattended. all of these things combined drains the battery, leaving us stranded. with a newborn and a toddler this is a major concern.
The contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving approximately 30 mph, the power sun roof opened and failed to close. the sun roof remained continuously in the open position. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire sun roof would need to be replaced. i looked at the moulding around the window from the top- and that is the only part that is snagging the window from closing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the dealership said the entire window needed to be replaced $810 vs. just ordering the 2 mouldings on the top of the car. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Door ajar light stays on and locks to do not lock can't back up because light stays on when its dark and i cannot see.
The door ajar light is staying on even after the door is shut. the interior and outside lights will stay on after shutting door, causing the vehicle to lose battery power if not detected early. if it is daylight this may be hard to see. it also does not let you engage the alarm, or even worse the alarm will go off for no apparent reason, also draining the battery if not detected early. i've only had this car a few months, but has been a problem since day one. i thought it was something that i was doing wrong until i did a little research and found out that i was not the only one having this problem.
Had problems with door side sensor saying the door was open when it wasn't. now the passenger side door is doing the same thing. the doors will not lock while driving if the door sensor is saying the door is open. this is a safety hazard. also, if the door open sensor is saying the door is open once you have gotten out of your vehicle and shut the door, the interior light will stay on and this drains your battery.
Vehicle keeps saying door ajar. door seems to be shut but constantly says that it is still open. this keeps my lights on and i am scared the door is really messed up and my children may fall out of the door or my passengers. its starting to pop up evem when i have not used the door in days. then i have to open and close the door over and over again until it tell the that it is finally shut. the other night for example i was outside for 25 minutes trying to get the door to finally say it was shut. please recall this issue.
Driver side door ajar indicator light coming on. when this light is on it causes the interior dome lights to stay on, making driving at night very difficult. it also doesn't allow the doors to be locked which is a huge safety concern for me as i travel with my 1 and 2 year old girls often. when the car is off and i lock the door with the key fob, if the sensor is on the horn will honk twice. this will cause not only my interior lights to stay on but also my exterior light. needless to say i've had to replace a few batteries. the 1st time i reported this to my dealer my car was under warranty and only happening occasionally, i was told to spray wd-40 on the lock latch and that would help. now its a constant thing and of course the car is out of warranty. ugh i just want to feel safe with my children in the car.
Door locks contain faulty "door ajar" sensors. they falsely report the door is open when it is properly latched, preventing you from locking the doors while inside the vehicle while stationary. when the vehicle is moving they will trip to "door is ajar" turning on the dome lighting and unlocking the doors. i feel this is a safety hazard while moving, it allows young children to open the doors, regardless of the lock switch settings.
The false door ajar signal shows up when i start the car, and prevents to doors from locking. dome light stays on, as well as lighting under both side mirrors which is causing battery drain. sometimes you can clear the door ajar by opening it again and slamming it very hard. this is the second incident of this happening, and had it last fixed at the ford dealership in june of 2013.
My back up camera is very erratic. sometimes the image comes on the screen upside down and sometimes not at all. sometimes the sreen if filled with yellow lines interfering with the image as well.
Door ajar light stays on when all doors are completely closed,, & will not let you lock doors.. also runs battery down. sometimes does not come on until you are moving!!
Ford edge latch door ajar dome lights stay on and unable to lock vehicle doors
I purchased my 2011 ford edge new several years ago. my warranty just recently expired, and i purchased an extended warranty. recently my passenger door ajar light kept coming on. i didn't pay much attention to it; honestly just thought it was a sensor and i would take it in to get looked at. eventually the light stayed on all the time, and even made my interior light stay on as well. i took it to my local ford dealership this week, and it is not the door sensor, but the door latch. this is not covered under my warranty, and i will be paying $430 to get it fixed. the part only is $380. i am furious. i have read on numerous sites that this is a common issue with ford edge's. they really should recall this.
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. dome lights stays on because the door ajar. doors don't lock because of the door ajar. had it fixed one time and now its doing it a second time.
The driver door ajar warning and passenger door ajar warning comes on when the doors are not ajar, and doors will not lock, it happens when you put the car in gear. this is a safety issue.
To whom it may concern, i have a 2011 ford edge limited that i bought from shultz ford in wexford pa in 2014. i had wonderful customer service and couldn't ask for a better team to work with. [xxx] was a great salesman and treated me like i was his friend instead of a salesman. my experience was the best! in march of 2016, i was made aware of the apim module for my 2011 ford edge limited being extended from the original manufactures date. i notified shultz in march of 2016 only to find out that the warranty was expired by one month. it's not their fault by any means, but to me and my family it is a safety concern and also a liability. you see, i have 4 precious children and they are active and always playing from ages 2 to 9 years old. if they are playing in the yard i cannot see them when i put my ford in reverse, and as you know in the past and now several children have lost their lives due drivers not knowing if anything is behind them. this is a huge safety concern for me and gives me anxiety thinking of this. i truly and honestly feel this should be a safety recall and not just an extended warranty repair. so at present day, my back up camera continues not to work and blacks out and i do not have any idea if anyone is behind me or not. it's very discouraging because i love ford and the product that you produce. all i'm asking is that you will replace this apim module because ford needs to ensure the safety of its customers and guarantee its cars are made well and functioning as they were intended. i look forward to hearing from you in the near future. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
System alerts "passenger door ajar" , beeps, and console lights stay on. it has been doing this for months. safety concern is with it doing this when door is not ajar, how would we know when it truly was ajar?
Takata recall. the driver door ajar light stays on at all times. will not go off no matter how many times you shut the door, the dome light stays on, runds the battery dead. i have tried every thing including wd 40. i believe it is the sensor but i am not a mechanic so.... i have googled this issue and it seems that everyone that owns a ford edge has this issue. i can not believe there is not a recall on this issue.my driver door has at times not latched completely. i believe this is a safety issue as i am driving on the freeway and have small children. ford needs to get their act together and recall this issue for every one that owns a ford edge. i have bought fords for years. this will be my last. this issue is everytime you enter the vehicle. stationary, driving, freeway, highway, turning. this has been going on for months now. has been a continuing problem for several months.
Both when the car is stationary and moving the driver's side door will be closed but the dashboard indicator will say the driver's side door is ajar despite the door being securely closed. this results in the interior overhead lights staying on for up to five minutes. additionally, the doors will not lock despite trying to lock them using the locking button located on the door or the key fob. this began happening about a year ago in march 2016. i know many other 2011 ford edge drivers suffer from this same problem. this is a safety hazard because the lights remain on making it dangerous to drive at night and drains the battery leaving the driver stranded due to a dead battery. the unlocked doors could result in someone opening the door in a dangerous neighborhood and forcing the driver or passenger form the vehicle. this needs to be fixed immediately or ford will no longer receive my business.
Two door ajar lights on our 2011 edge remain on at all times. bea aide of this i am forced to drive at night with the interior lights on. this is unsafe and very distracting for us and other drivers. one of these doors is my daughters which we are very uneasy about. we are aware how big this problem is and people are desperate for help!!! i wrote to ford but they said they can't help because there are no recalls and they can't find any record of our car being at a ford dealer so i just sent them the invoice. i cannot believe there are so many vehicles with the same problem and ford won't do anything about it.
Drivers side door latch not working - causing warning light and not enabling safety/security systems to engage when driving vehicle. vehicle is stationary, happens when getting in and out of car. also, dome lights remain on after car is parked causing battery to die.
Drivers side door sensor malfunctions. when door is closed it indicates that the door is still open and dome lights inside the vehicle remain on even when driving the vehicle.
