Takata recall. no action to correct problem yet.
Takata recall it has been over three years since i get the recall notice and i still have not been able to get my airbag replaced. i live in a very hot, humid climate and am on a fixed income and i need this fixed, yet the ford dealership keeps saying they don't have the airbag to put in it. please help. i am guessing at the date of recall below in order to proceed with this complaint.
I was in an accident while i was driving my edge. i was tboned in my driver side door by a chevy 1500 pulling a travel trailer the truck was traveling aprox 50 mph when it hit me. none of my airbags deployed. i filed a complaint with ford motor company. i haven't heard anything else about it. *tr
Tl* the contact owned a 2007 ford edge. the contact stated that another vehicle crashed into the driver side of her vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. no injuries were reported and a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,319.
Takata recall. i have been waiting for resolution of this recall for two years now. on several occasions i have attempted to schedule air bag replacement and have been told by the dealership that there are "no parts available" to complete the work. this is unacceptable. *js
After driving approximately 20 miles at an average speed of 45 mph i exited off a very busy highway (exit 1, rte. 93n in new hampshire). upon slowing, i felt a skip and the car became unresponsive to my attempt to accelerate to complete the exit . an odometer error appeared on my dash along with the airbag warning light and the repair wrench symbol. if i had been traveling on the open highway in the kind of traffic i was experiencing, i probably would have been in a high speed accident. after shutting down the engine for 30 minutes, i restarted my vehicle and returned home without incident. this incident occurred without warning. to date my edge has been very reliable. i have enjoyed the edge's performance; but, i am very disappointed that this problem has occurred to numerous other edge owners. i am hoping this apparent defect is resolved and a recall is initiated before someone is seriously injured. *tr
I was stopped at a stop sign facing south with a front seat passenger when an on coming vehicle traveling south ran through the northbound stop sign and crossed into the southbound lane striking my vehicle head on. at the time of impact neither air bag deployed.
Takata recall. i responded to the recall notice and took my vehicle to my local ford dealership (spikes ford - mission, tx) and was told twice that they could not fix the issue because my vehicle was not affected by the recall. when i checked with the nhtsa and entered the vin, nhtsa stated my vehicle was recalled. i then called ford motor company at 1-800-392-3673 and was told that my vehicle was recalled. this is very concerning to me. there are dealerships out there that are lying to their customers. this issue needs to be investigated as soon as possible. so disappointed in ford.
We purchased our 2007 ford edge on april 18th 2008 at that time the air bag light was on...the dealer replaced the sensors. on may 2nd we took it back into our local dealership for the light was back on again. they replaced the correct sensor and it made it until october when the light was back on for the third time since we owned the vehicle. this time they replaced another sensor and worked on the sunroof for it was not closing right. in november 2008 the light was back on again and this time wiring was replaced. three weeks later the air bag light came on again circuits were checked for shorts? then in june 2009 the air bag light was back on and this time flickers on and off. they installed a new rmc, another sensor and the restraint control module. december 3rd we took it back to our service department with the air bag light on for the 7th time now, and the ford hotline had them checking all crash sensors, the right axel seal was leaking oil as well and the part was ordered to fix. took the car back on the 16th and they supposedly "fixed" all problems! two days later the air bag light was back on for the 8th time and ford has had my car since then. it is now january 2010 and they still are working on the air bag issue..headquarters has been contacted but doesn't seem to do us any good. the drivers side air bag sensor was replaced and we were told that it finally solved the problem but an hour later we received a call from the service department stating that the air bag light is on for the 9th time now and is currently awaiting another part to be replaced! this to us is a major safety issue that needs some attention! *tr
Takata recall ford has no remedy available and we have to drive a potential deathtrap everyday. purchased 3/8/2008
Re: ford edge turned left into parking lot. rt rear tire hit curb. drove straight into parking space almost stopped. car accelerated, became airborn, made sharp left. 40mpr within 35-40 ft. hit steel pole/concrete head on. front & side air bags did not deploy & seat belts did not hold occupants. believe computer took over after hitting tire. computer is to bring car into control as if out of control on ice or snow but conditions were dry. police claim driver stepped on gas instead of brake. reported to ford. ford responded they had no recalls, and were not able to help. edge was new model & no time had been allowed for recalls. car repaired after 2 months. attorneys wanted $50,000 up front to investigate. owner did not have the finances to continue. 2 years of rehab & recovery with ongoing medical conditions. ford needs reported/investigated, same as toyota. several witnesses. *tr
Takata recall 16s26 since receiving this recall in june 2016 i have been to three dealerships with the same response, "parts are not available". ford boasts 14 million vehicles on the road. how many have been driving unsafe since 2007? must i wait for an accident and possible injury before i can get a replacement airbag? obviously, a replacement would be found or perhaps the solution is totaling the car along with potential death or injury. then its just one less airbag to worry about but a huge settlement for the victims or their families paid for by insurance companies. this is the american way????? if new cars are being made with new parts why in god's name can't we hold vehicle manufacturers responsible to get replacement parts on a timely basis. now tk holdings have filed for bankruptcy. what hope is there for this recall to be satisfied in a timely manner when nothing has happened since june 2016. who defines "timely". why are new cars allowed to be built and sold when we can't take care of previous defects in last year's model? where is quality control in the first place. who is responsible for testing/quality control of sub contractor products if not the nhtsa???? dealerships: oc welch, hardeville, sc; jacky jones ford of hayesville, ga, blue ridge north georgia ford. customer in peril here and all over the u.s. driving fords, lincolns, toyoatas, etc, etc.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 ford edge. while driving approximately 35 mph, the front and rear driver side air bags deployed. the vehicle was not involved in a crash. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and is awaiting for the cause of failure to be determined. the current and failure mileages were 1,200.
Takata recall .in march 2017 i received the first notice. i took the car to a dealer who stated he did not have the parts nd suggested trying a southern dealer. i did so in march 2018. they did not have the part. i received a second notice in may 2018 and again went to a dealer - they had no parts. recently i received a poste card about a class action suit but still no airbag and no resolution. what now?
