Head lights no longer are operating. was driving at night and they went out and will not go on again. have tried to have them operate again and again and no luck. when will recall parts be available as this vehicle is not able to operate at night , in fog ,or in heavy rain.

Recall # 15s39, pertaining to headlight module and soldering problems causing the headlights to go out. my headlights have gone out. it has been checked for fuse problems and bulbs burnt out. not the problem. contacted the manufacturer and 2 dealerships. all said the part is not available and they do not know when it will be available. their remedy was that i walk. it has been since december 21, 2015 since the recall letter was sent out. it too had no remedy, or when the part would be available. ford has no plans to fix the problem. my headlights went out when i was driving at night on the freeway. with no headlights i can not drive at night, during foggy weather, or during rain.

Parking lights come on sometimes when the light switch is turned on. headlights work fine, including brights. parking light switch setting controls all other lights. i was told by my mechanic that the lighting control module was to fault. when the other lights (includes tail lights, tag light, front parking and side lights) don't come on, it presents an opportunity for a moving violation on the road at night. obviously, this prevents my driving at night. the law here states that you get a ticket for an unsafe vehicle, you cannot drive the car home, the car is put in impound until you can move it to repair it. quite a costly experience i would imagine. this was a previous police interceptor. how did they get away with it? there needs to be a recall on this lighting control module. *tr

The headlights stopped working at night time. *tr

I took the car into future ford to replace the recalled headlight module. (i waited 7 months before the module was delivered.) when they replaced the module they said the lights still wouldn't work. it took them 4 days to solve the problem and they then charged me $1,051.56 including a car rental. i know the headlights would come on if you pulled the turn indicator switch since i tried that before delivering the car and my neighbor saw them turn on also. *tr

My car was recalled in april for a lighting defect that can cause the headlights not to work. since my headlights had just malfunctioned and didn't work, i was glad the car was to be fixed. i called the dealer to schedule the repair and was told the parts were on back order. i called again and again and the parts are still not available. it has been almost four months without headlights. the car is unusable at night of course. four months and they can't get the part. unbelievable! talk about a safety concern. *tr

Driving to work my headlights went out. would not turn back on. held the lever to keep the hi-beams on and approximately 8 miles later released lever and headlights came on and remained on for the last couple of miles to my office. pushing the lever to turn on hi-beams did not work, i had to pull and hold the lever toward me to keep the hi-beams lit. this is the third time within the last 2 months that this has occurred and is a grave safety hazard... i have set up an appointment at ford to replace the lighting control module ($478) plus labor. since this has been a known item for some time ford should be required to do a recall for such a serious equipment flaw. *tr

I was at drive through teller when the automatic headlights, ac, instrument gauges, odometer, and speedometer failed at once. initially the determination was it was the overdrive switch in the gearshift, apparently a wire was shorting out because it travels in an area where the insulation wears and shorts to metal. however, after having disconnected the overdrive and waiting for a replacement wiring harness, the automatic headlights have gone out along with the permanent high beams. it will turn on the lights if you use manual lights instead of automatic headlights. also headlights go out on the interstate for no reason whatsoever. returned to mechanic and i was advised that it needs a light control module and that the lcm is notorious for failures especially with headlights. cost of replacing the lcm is exorbitantly high and no new parts are available through ford as they quit making them. cardone sells the lcm for several hundred dollars including core cost. ford should nut up to this one. this is a dangerous product. people can get killed when their headlights suddenly go out at high speeds at night! trust me. not all lanes on the interstate are lit. this is really a dangerous situation. i now ford likes to count beans, but is it really worth risking human life and limb to save a few bucks? *tr

Head lights went out while driving. stopped, pulled over, didn't want to drive at night without lights. checked all fuses, all seemed to be ok. fumbled with the switch and wires and connections, and for awhile contemplated how we would get ourselves, and the car home without any lights? started the car back up and the lights worked.....resumed our drive home....but lights went out again.....decided to risk it and continued home without head lights. took the car to a ford service station the next week, they said it must be the switch, put in a new switch and said it was fixed.........picked it up after work, and headed for home, made it a 1/4 mile before they went out again. got on the internet and discovered that this is apparently a very common problem with the crown victoria and to fix it, it takes a ford re-- designed lighting control module...to the tune of about $500.00...ford obviously knows this is a design and safety problem, why aren't they taking care of the problem.....before people are killed???? *tr

The steering column tightens up periodically, results in hard steering, have been using wd40 to loosen up , noticed recall for 2005 model years and up. blower motor shuts down periodically resulting in loss of vision from lack of defrosters, problem is a hard to reach connector plug underneath hood, tried cleaning, will not clear problem,no corrosion noticed.headlights repaired under recall, lighting control module replaced. *tr

Due to faulty manufacturing by ford, i have faulty headlights. on more than 20 occasions i have been without headlights. i have to wait until the lights come on before i can proceed to drive the vehicle, endangering my life depending on my location at the time! please ask ford to consider fixing the problem before someone is seriously injured! *tr

I have experienced total headlight failure on more than 20 occasions while driving at night. some of the time the failures occurred in total darkness on interstate and secondary roads. the failure affected all lights, interior and exterior. i definitely think this constitutes a serious safety hazzard. on the first failure my son, daughter-in-law and baby grand daughter were being transported from the airport to my home when the lights failed on the interstate in total darkness at a speed of about 65 mph. my local ford dealer does not want to address the problem and the total cost to replace the light control module is more than $600.00 i learned from the nhtsa website that there have been more than two thousand claims related to headlight failire on the 2001-2004 ford crown victoria. it appears that nhtsa opened a case on this matter in 2008, reference action number pe08066, closed it on 24 march 2009, indicating that the issue would be monitored and nhtsa reserved the right to reopen the case. i hereby respectfully request that action number pe08066 be reopened and that ford motor company assume responsibility for the obvious faulty light control modules. respectively submitted. *tt

Headlights go out intermittently while driving. diagnostic test done at ford dealership service center resulted in a determination that the internal light control module was faulty. part # 4w72-13c788-bc. *tr

2004 ford crown vic headlights turn off just whenever and come back on just whenever. it is the light control module. a very expensive repair. this particular vehicle is a fire department vehicle paid for and maintained by taxpayers. ford price for the part is $840.00. ford should recall the 2004 ford crown vic light control module (lcm). repair or replace this part. it is a hazard. you never know when the headlights are going to not operate. *tr
