I received a recall notice from dodge/chrysler in december notifying me that parts to repair my truck would be available starting january 6, 2014. i called prior to january 1st and was told to call back after january 6th. i called back on february 10th and was placed on a waiting list with an estimated wait of 4 to 6 weeks. i have heard nothing as of today. so i followed up with the dealership again today and was told that they have not received parts from chrysler yet and i wasn't on the advisors list. i've been added again, but was told that there are over 3,000 trucks in my area waiting to be serviced with no estimate as to when the parts will be available. i was also told previously that chrysler sent parts to the dealership on a prior recall at the rate of one repair per week. if this is repeated this time it will take up to 3,000 weeks to be serviced. i've already waited over 3 months which seems unreasonable and have no assurance of being taken care of in the foreseeable future. how can we expedite this repair? *tr

I received a notice of safety recall in november or december 2013 and was informed i needed to call the dealership beginning january 6, 2014. it is now november 5, 2014 and i am just now having the repair done. as a result of this extreme delay i was unable to use my truck to tow my boat out of storage and thus incurred a $750.00 charge. i contacted the dealership numerous times over the past year and was informed each time they would call me for an appointment which never happened. i had one appointment cancelled because they had run out of replacement parts. i am due reimbursement of the storage charge of $750.00 because i was unable to tow my boat out of storage. i can send the receipt for the storage charge and the work order when the tie rod was replaced for documentation of this outlandish situation. *tr

Recall n49 / nhtsa 13v-529 i have been waiting to get the recall work done on my 2009 dodge ram 2500 since december 1 2013. my local dodge dealer, (don k dodge chrysler and jeep in whitefish montana) said they put me on a list of customers for the same recall. i have stopped in once a month (6 times) since i was put on the list. during my last visit, i was told by the service manager that there were 137 people in line ahead of me. the service manager also informed me that dodge is only allowing them parts to do one recall repair every two weeks. from my calculations, that puts my wife, three kids and i 5.25 years of at risk driving before my truck will be able to have the defective parts replaced. i would like my truck to be repaired as soon as possible, as i cannot afford to buy another one. 7 months of waiting to find out it will be 5 more years is not reasonable at all. i sincerely hope to get this issue resolved in the near future. thanks for your time. *tr

Was at home, backing out of drive way,, the driver side tie rod fell off! could not get a tow truck inside my drive to take to the dealership to get fixed. so i got a buddy to help me remove the old tie rod end and replace it with a moog tie rod end. had it realigned. my complaint is dodge won't reimburse me for the parts and labor. dodge supposedly checked this out 3-27-12 at bill hodges dodge in vinita, ok. they did a measurement and decided it was ok. well not so!, it broke in my drive way backing straight back. what if i had been driving down the turnpike 75 mph? if it needs checked on a recall it needs to be replaced!!!! *tr
Backing up horse trailer and tie rod end broke completely off driver side. vehicle was inspected on 3/12/12 per recall but nothing was done. its a shame dealers are sending you off with steering components that are not safe. *tr

Hi, i took my truck to sears to have the tires rotated and the steering checked because i had started to feel crow hopping when making slow turns. when they removed the front tires they checked to find what was creating the crow hopping as i had requested. they found that the cv joint on the drivers side was not working as it should, and upon removing it they also found that the ball joints were bad. at this point i had sears do the work because of safety concerns. they repaired the problem and so far the crow hopping seems to have gone away.i now understand that there has been a nhtsa campaign id#11v350000 . i have owned this vehicle since it was new ,but have never gotten a recall notice on this problem. i have contacted dodge and talked to customer service about re-imbursment and was told that there was nothing they could do because the parts replaced where not mopar and possibly because the work was not done at dodge. i think this is not right because i did not get a notice and i was not taking the truck until it was safe to do so. *tr
2009 dodge ram. consumer writes in regards to recall l16. concerning fracture on the left tie rod end *tgw the consumer stated the service dept informed him, in order to check for a fracture, it would need to be done with an ultrasonic detector and a transducer or some type of dye. the consumer stated in his opinion, the recall has not been resolved. *jb
Drivers side (short) tie rod end fractured while plowing 1" snow in parking lot. going straight forward, heard a clunk, then lost control of vehicle and stopped with plow in snow pile. in hindsight, this is a very scary failure and it is difficult to imagine a better outcome. dealer fixed as a warranty claim and claims that the truck is not part of your investigation/recall for a very similar failure, making me wonder if there is a broader problem here. i tried to get the broken part, but the dealer would not provide it. no injuries or damage, but extremely inconvenient repair that cost me time, money and effort to hand shovel. plus my wife's time off work. best wishes, hope this helps make a safer vehicle. *tr

Car was brought in 5 times to have various front end recalls performed , two different dealers bedard brothers in cheshire mass. and beterra for steering recall (now n49/nhtsa 13v-529) previously same recall had two or three different numbers. they have never had the parts and could never perform the recall. because they say that the steering may fail at any moment i have used the vehicle only when i absolutely have no other transportation. hence as of today the car has 17,200 miles only. the other problem is loss of coolant , the egr cooler has been leaking , i have had it at dealers three times and they have no clue how to repair . this is a common complaint. because this internal leak goes into the turbocharger. the turbocharger failed and on 7/08/13 had to be replaced at 16,150 miles . that was the symptom of the egr cooler leak, but the cause (leaking egr cooler was not addressed then or on two following trips to the dealers. on to bedard and one to berterra. the chrysler case number may be 24954056 after dealers worked on car two trouble codes appeared p052 and p0700 i don't want to continue driving a car that the steering will fail at any moment or the engine may blow because of coolant loss. *tr

The complaint has to do with the complete failure of the driver side tie rod assembly. the stud completely sheared from the end of the tie rod assembly. the driver side tie-rod failure occurred on the morning of april 26,2011. this failure happened with almost no warning. the steering became loose for a second or two and then the front of the truck shook violently for just an instant and then the tie-rod failure occurred with total loss of steering resulting in both front wheels pointing inward to their full extent. at this point i was traveling between 20-25 mph. the truck then skidded across two lanes of traffic and stopped at the curb. i would also like to point out that nothing was struck by my vehicle to cause this failure. *tr

Drivers side tie rod end broke at joint. i was backing out of a parking spot and started to turn the wheel and it broke. i was towed under warranty and the part was replaced, but they did not cover it under warranty because of my larger tires. i am a member of many internet forums and this is happening to too many trucks. stock or modified trucks it does not matter there is a problem with the part itself or the geometry of the steering. this is dangerous and somebody is going to get severely hurt or killed if this is not addressed soon! *tr
