When traveling down the road and come across a bump, lift, or dip in the road the truck will violently shake. i took a road trip to florida recently and i experienced the death wobble at 90 mph, it made me cross into the next lane then into the median. talking about scary!i have researched this on the internet a lot and it appears the be called the "death wobble". i am very concerned with the fact that dodge has not issued a recall for this. why? plenty of people have the problem! its obviously a flaw in the dodge design not being able to support the weight of the cummins diesel. i have looked into getting this 08 steering upgrade but the dealer wants $975 to fix it and can not guarantee that it will fix it.

Severe wobble/shaking of front end at speeds between 50mph to 70mph, after hitting normal bumps along the highways. my truck has 55000 miles in it. apparently it is happening to alot of dodge 2500 diesel owners, however, dodge is not backing up their products and says that the owners are responsible for a factory defect. i am scared to put my wife and kids in my truck for fear of something breaking in the front end and crashing. i have checked the ball joints, bearings, bushings etc and have not seen anything wrong to indicate why this is happening. hopefully with enough complaints dodge will issue a safety recall and fix this problem before it costs someone their life. *tr

When coming to a bridge or lip in the road at highway speeds vehicle starts jumping violently until speed is reduced. *tr

2007 dodge 2500 steering wobble over 55 mph death wobble/ dodge needs to address multiple issues online for same thing happening to other ppl and is a safety hazard since i am in the automotive industry also. *tr

I have experienced the infamous "dodge death wobble" numerous times in the past 3 months. i have a 2007 2500 dodge ram truck that i bought used a year ago. three months ago, driving on the interstate going about 65 mph i came upon a bridge approach slab and once i hit it the truck began violently shaking. afterwards i did research on the issue and discovered what i experienced matched what is known as the "dodge death wobble". i contacted my dealer and they said dodge has issued a repair bulletin for this issue however also said that they do not believe the repairs dodge recommends fixes the problem. (the research i have done also supports that comment). on november 21 while traveling for thanksgiving i experienced the "death wobble" five times within an hour. i was traveling along interstate 10 at 65-75 mph and every bump, bridge approach slab, or pot hole that was hit would initiate this horrific shaking of the truck. i was in fear of mine and my passengers lives and in fear of damaging other components of the truck. i slowed down to 45-55mph and even slower when crossing road impairments stated above; this seemed to prevent the shaking. since, i have contacted my dodge dealer, the local dealer of where i'm spending the holiday, and chrysler's customer service. the two dealers again told me about dodge's bulletin however both said they do not believe replacing the tire rod ends and control arms will fix the problem. chrysler took two days to get a hold of a live person and then a customer service phone rep said that a case manager would contact me within 24 hours. however because of the holiday this puts them not contacting me before 8pm friday. i am traveling home sunday and fear further damaging the vehicle and putting my life in danger if i continue to drive the truck with this defect not being addressed and fixed immediately! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500 quad (na). the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 07e009000 (suspension) and took the vehicle to the dealer where they repaired the front end linkage. approximately one year later, the contact was attempting to pull out of the driveway when she heard a loud noise and noticed that the front right passenger tie rod was fractured in two. the vehicle was taken to the dealer again where they replaced the steering linkage and tire rod. the contact informed the manufacturer who was unable to offer any assistance. the current mileages were approximately 30,500. the failure mileages were approximately 18,000. updated 3/2/2011 *cn updated 04/04/11

(2007 dodge 2500 6.7l cummins) (50,000 miles) at any speed in excess of 50mph a severe and violent shake is experienced when a bump/pothole/break in pavement is struck. this causes lose of control and does not correct until vehicle speed falls below 40 mph. i have owned vehicle only a month and have spent in excess of $1300. all tie rods, steering components have been replaced. tires, ball joints were inspected. vehicle has be aligned multiple times and problem remains. truck is currently at dealership 3rd time for same complaint. very thankful that i nor anyone else have been injured or killed. there are thousands of same complaints everywhere. what else can be replaced...? *tr

I have a 2007 dodge 2500 diesel with the dreaded death wobble. my truck has 46000 miles on it, never been in an accident, and in 290 mile traveled in the last 36 hours, the wobble happened 8 times. this is something dodge has "never herd of" [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While towing our 27ft montana fifth wheel, i crossed over a cattle guard and got a very violent vibration in the steering wheel. i had to come to a stop to make quit. i found out from my mechanic it's called the dodge death wobble. chrysler corp. will do nothing about it, even though it happens to thousands of people who drive dodge trucks. *tr

Front end started to shake out of control after hitting a bump on the freeway. also known as death wobble. happened three times now. the shaking is so violent luckily no cars where around or i would have hit them. *tr

I had me and my kids in my truck and had a bad wobble in the front end of my truck we almost lost control of the vehicle. this is the third time its happened if you hit a bump it will mack your vehicle shake out of control. i had multiple new parts on the front end replaced and it still does it. i'm afraid to drive my truck for any distances because of the problem. when it happens you don't know if your going to go in the ditch or into on coming traffic before you can slow down to get to the side of the road. i've herd this called the death wobble and on the internet search hundreds of people are having the same problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving approximately 10 mph the front passenger side tire turned sideways and the vehicle continue to drive into a ditch. the contact was an independent mechanic and was able to determine that the front passenger side tie rod and lower ball joint failed. the contact stated that he was able temporarily repair the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the tie rod and lower ball joints were replaced. the failure and current mileages were 76,000. the vin was unavailable.

I have a 2007 dodge ram 2500 mega cab diesel. i am the second owner and have had the truck for about 5 months. i have what is most commonly referred to as the "death wobble" or "death shake". i have taken the truck to dodge and paid to have them fix the problem only to be told there is nothing wrong with the truck. the truck is completely stock with the exception of the after market replacement shocks i had put on to hopefully fix the problem. the shocks did nothing to fix the violent shaking. basically, when i get the truck up to around 60 mph and hit any small bump or pot hole or anything like that on the roadway the truck begins to shake violently and makes loud knocking noises. to get the shaking to stop i have to reduce my speed to around 30 to 35 mph. obviously it is not safe to have to do this on a freeway or any other highway for that matter. it is a major safety issue and i am just waiting for the time when the truck causes me to crash. i bought the truck as a family vehicle and my wife won't even ride in it because it is that bad. i don't even like to put my children in the vehicle because of this issue. i explained all this to dodge and they directed my to this website saying that they could do nothing for me. i've done a lot of research and there are a lot of other dodge owners with the same issue. so much so that there are forums dedicated specifically to just this issue. i also found several videos on you tube where dodge owners have video taped their trucks doing the same thing. i know you tube probably isn't the type of website your agency likes to use for researching issues but it shows exactly what is going on. some of the videos actually show how dodge owners with this problem have just left the dealership after paying to have replacement parts put on their trucks that they were told they needed only to have the same problem when they get back on the road. being that dodge is unwilling to assist me in any way i would like to lodge a complaint. *tr

2007 dodge diesel 2500 mega cab death wobble on front end when driving 70mph and hitting a small bump in hwy. no accident occurred however the vehicle has less than 36,000 miles and dodge says there is nothing wrong. *tr

Death wobble coming from front end of truck. just started happening when i drive on bumpy roads. causes coolant splash all over the engine. almost causes me to loose control of the truck and could cause a serious accident. *tr

Front end started shaking violently after hitting a bump on freeway, was uncontrollable until slowing down to 30 on freeway.

I own a 2007 dodge ram 4x4 2500, i have been experiencing "death wobble" i took the truck to the dealer for the h46 recall to upgrade steering to 08.5 year but the dealer just looked under the truck and said it was ok, i explained the "death wobble" and was told that they would not do any type of warranty work for "death wobble" i continued to tell them that this happens every time i hit a bump in the road and almost have to come to a complete stop before the problem will stop. i left the dealer with no fix to my problem. *tr

2007 dodge ram 2500 "death wobble" will soon kill someone. *tr

The vehicle has a violent death wobble at speed when hitting bumps in the road. it has since i have owned it. the truck only has 33,000 miles on it currently. has been to the dealership numerous times for repair with no fix. *tr

I was driving to town (approx. 4 miles) when i hit 50 mph. the truck began to shake violently after hitting a minor irregularity in the road. i then slowed to approx. 30 mph to make it go away. though it has only happened to me twice i began looking on the internet and found a plethera of info on the notorious "dodge death shake" this problem is in every vehicle forum i have visited and cannot believe you have done nothing about it. all the stories are the same and most do not trust there vehicle anymore. there is a laundry list of fixes but there are conflicting results. dodge claims it is the front stabilizer, but i have changed it and after it happened again. i am very disappointed in the fact that i paid 30,000 for a truck i cannot trust. i would hope you do not continue to sit on your hands in this matter because it is plastered all over the internet and even a news story about it in north carolina. please, do something! i have been an automotive mechanic for over 20 years and this is a real problem. *tr

As i was driving about 70mph on the freeway, i hit a small bump where the bridge connects to the freeway. my truck immediately started shaking violently, and i had no control of the steering. i slowed, put on my hazards, and began pulling to the right as i gained control. i had thought it was a flat tire. it corrected itself as i slowed, so i began to pick up speed again slowly. at that moment i hit the bump that connected the departure part of the bridge to the freeway, and the shaking continued. this time i drifted with my hazards on into the right shoulder. this event was terrifying, as i had my wife and 3 year old daughter with me in the car. i was afraid for their safety and everyone around us on the road. once i got home, i immediately called the dealership and made an appointment to take the truck in. apparently they have known about this for some time now, because they notified me there was a flyer they received that stated this could happen to dodge trucks, and they knew what to look for. *tr

I purchased a used 2007 dodge ram 2500 4x4 5.9 liter diesel with 52,523 miles from a dealer on 1/18/10. the truck has no prior damage or repairs per carfax and the dealer info. i am experiencing front end harmonic wheel hop and shake at highway speeds of approx 50-70mph. this wheel shake occurs whenever the truck runs over an irregular road surface, pothole or bridge to road drop. i have researched on line forums and have read numerous complaints by other dodge truck owners which are experiencing this same condition known as a "death wobble". i took the truck in to a dodge dealer who performed a dodge recall. they replaced the pitman arm and lower link as prescribed. unfortunately this did not repair the problem at all. the truck still has this condition and i have experienced an unsafe driving condition due to this front in harmonic steering fault. *tr

I just bought a 2007 dodge diesel 4x4 with 9k miles and while driving from phx to albq my truck did the wobble 3 times. it was scary and people are going to die. please do something about it! *tr

I own a 2007 dodge 2500 mega cab and have now experienced the so called dodge "death-wobble" on 3 separate occasions in the last 2 months. traveling at highway speeds whether a smooth road or if i hit a small pothole the truck begins shaking violently and does not stop until speed is reduced significantly (under 30 mph). i have researched the issue via the web and have seen a news report of this happening to others with the newer models of the dodge ram series. i currently have the vehicle scheduled for inspection (2 dec 09) with the dealer for possible repairs but wanted to submit a complaint as i believe this is happening to many other motorists as reported by wsoc in charlotte nc. i only knew of contacting the nhtsa because of the news report i found. this reoccuring situation if not corrected is a safety issue which if not corrected is an "extreme" danger to all motorists on the road. *tr

Death wobble. *tr

I currently operate a 2007 dodge ram 2500 4x4 that experiences the "death wobble". when traveling +60mph and hit a bump/pothole/overpass the vehicle will begin to shake violently until stopping in the emergency lane. this happened for the first time at 52,300 miles and continues to occur. the vehicle is owned and operated by the federal government. the vehicle has been taken to a mechanic and could find nothing wrong with the equipment. it would be wise for dodge, ntsb, and nhtsa to issue a recall for this vehicle. it would not take much for a severe accident to occur. i experienced the wobble while traveling 70 mph on the interstate with a semi on my right and one behind me. it was very difficult to navigate to the emergency lane without striking a truck. a recall or part that needs replacing would help the +45 complaints repair the vehicle. this is not safe and demonstrates negligence on dodge, nhtsa and ntsb. *tr

Violent shake in front end after going over bridge tires bouncing no control had to slow down to 25 mph to stop it changed shocks stopped problem for a few months but kept coming back its called the"death wobble". *tr

2007 dodge ram 2500 4x4 diesel when i drive around 55 mph and hit a bump my truck starts to shake very harsh until i slow to about 35mph. this happens ever time i go over 50mph. dodge dealer seems to not care about the problem. this could very easily lead to an accident. *tr

Starting 3 years ago my truck started doing the death wobble at speeds of 35 and up when ever you hit any bump in the road, the wheel would shake so violently it would cause the loss of control for steering. the first time it happened to me the truck went into a ditch and threw me into the window, it has continued to happen for years now. dealerships have said nothing is wrong, even though it continues to happen. i only have 38k miles on the truck because i am afraid to drive it with my family inside due to this condition. something needs to be done about this, it has been an on going problem for at lease 10 years now. dodge needs to come up with a recall before anyone else looses there life or more property damage occurs. the problem is a known fact and the government can see the track records of the failure. please help us consumers!!!!!!! *tr

My 2007 dodge ram 2500 4x4 goes into "death wobble" at speeds higher than 65 mph. when the truck is traveling on the highway it will start to rattle the front end to a point that you feel as though you are riding on a "square tire". extremely dangerous!!!! apparently this is common knowledge to chrysler management and staff...however, nothing has been done to correct the problem. when i first experienced the problem i took the vehicle to two different dodge dealers to essentially be told by the service managers that the vehicle was perfectly fine and that i probably needed to buy new tires! this problem is obviously more serious than new tires... it is my hopes that someone can raise a red flag to the issue before a serious injury or death occurs as a result of this factory defect. *tr

I own a 2007 dodge ram 2500 4wd quad cab long wheel base pickup truck. the steering on this vehicle is best described as ridiculous for the price you have to pay for the truck, not to mention how dangerous it is. my problems started before the truck even reached 20,000 miles. the dealership i purchased the truck from replaced the tie rod ends under warranty, and that helped for a few thousand miles, but didn't correct the problem. i attempted changing the tires and wheels for a set of aftermarket ones around 45-50k miles and that's when the "death wobble" started. i was traveling in the fast lane of a 3 lane interstate at around 70mph, and luckily was able to exit the interstate shortly after it started. i could not regain total control of the vehicle until it came to a complete stop! i'm just lucky it wasn't raining, or very crowded on the interstate at the time or i might not be here to write this complaint. i have replaced the factory steering stabilizer with an aftermarket rancho unit, but that didn't change a thing. i have researched the internet numerous times, but never see any real solutions, only aftermarket manufacturers attempting to sell their idea of a fix. this is a real issue that someone needs to force dodge to correct. i don't know if there are any deaths directly related to this problem, but rest assured there will be. i can't believe that it's been allowed to go on this long. i can't stand the thought of using this vehicle to transport my family, let alone my family losing me because of dodge's apathy towards this issue. i guess someone will have to videotape themselves crashing before the government steps in and makes dodge take notice, like they did to toyota. *tr

My 2007 2500 4x4 diesel 6.7 has been a headache since the beginning . it has stalled several times the check engine light comes on for a short while then goes off . but the other day i was in a tight situation, when i stepped on the accelerator hard , a car pulled in front of me i immoderately stepped on the brake , and northing was there , it wet all the way down to the floor then after a second or two it started jumping as the anti lock brakes started to work, this was a close one i couldn't of slide my wallet between my truck and the car that pulled out in front of me . this truck also has the worse ride on concrete freeway paving . it bounces in a un stable, most irritating way ,on asphalt freeway it is very smooth, until you hit a bump and it shimmy's in a un safe felling like it could loose control, i am happy with the power of the motor when its got a full load going up hill. with that exception this is the worst over priced truck i've ever owned , ill never buy dodge again. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle became uncontrollable without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the "death wobble". the vehicle was taken to fenton motors of pampa (123 n hobart st, pampa, tx 79065, (806) 665-8404) where it was diagnosed that the front suspension needed to be upgraded to a heavy duty front suspension. the suspension was updated; however, the failure recurred on several occasions. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the consumer stated the problem started a year ago with the turbo, and the check engine light coming on. also the accelerator would open up to full throttle without any control, unless he cut the engine off. at times the gas pedal would not move at all. the rear brakes locked up and the abs failed. the vehicle pulled to the right, due to the alignment being out of specification. the failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 22,400. updated 04-28-09 *bf the transmission would not go into overdrive. there were times when the vehicle had to hunt for gears and the indicator would disappear on the dash. updated 04/29/09.*jb
