I have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins turbo diesel. everything was great with my truck up till about may of 2009. while driving home at about 40 mph, i got the "death wobble" on my truck. extremely scary when it happens to you. luckily there were no vehicles behind me. i had to come to almost a complete stop for the death wobble to go away. i thought it was going to be a rare thing to happen, but it pretty much happens every time i drive my truck. all i have to do is go over a couple of small ruts or bumps on the road and the truck will get into the death wobble. *tr

Steering problem with customers truck. *tr

While driving, the power steering died making it nearly impossible to turn. this is a complete failure of the power steering, previous occurrences of brief difficult steering happened two or three times. also braking was affected ,decreasing stopping ability. i was barely able to stop and turn the truck to avoid crashing into a building. *tr

I own a 2006 dodge ram 2500 that may be affected by a recall on 2008 model trucks. the recall number from chrysler is h36 and the nhtsa campaign id number is 09v005000. i just took my truck in for inspection and this joint on the pitman arm failed for too much play. we called to get the replacement part and were told it is no longer available because the part has been redesigned. you now have to replace multiple components because of this redesign which was initiated from the recall for 2008 trucks and it will cost you approximately $550 for the replacement parts. it will cost you this just for parts, if you truck is out of warranty. my truck has 50,170 miles on it which is over the 36,000 mile warranty. however, i should not have to pay $600+ because one joint is bad. if these parts were redesigned for safety reasons then this should be covered in the recall. i have confirmed with area dealers and all 2500 series dodge rams use this recalled linkage from 2003-2008. they all call for the same part number. also, this was not a problem with just a certain 'batch' of parts. if so, chrysler would have only recalled the truck with the bad components and replaced them with new components of the same design. i have contacted chrysler and they told me an authorized dodge dealer must say this joint is bad so i have scheduled an appointment later this week to have this looked at. i am assuming they will pass it and say there is not a problem so they will not have to replace it. although, it should not matter if the part is bad or not, because the parts have been redesigned for a safety reason. chrysler did not want to tell me the reason for the redesign and asked me what i wanted them to do. so i told them to do a recall, fix it under a warranty claim, or give me the part number to replace the one single bad part. i hope you see this as a reason to investigate this recall further. *tr

Violent shimmy ,shake, wobble, loss of control when hit a slight bump at 65 mph warranty exp. so paid $833.95 to the dodge dealer to replace steering components with a kit from dodge specifically for that problem. *tr

While traveling over 40 mph and hitting small bumps or pot holes, or sometimes for no apparent reason the front tires will shake violently back and forth , shaking the whole vehicle, making the vehicle nearly uncontrollable. commonly known as "the death shake". the only way to stop the shake is to slow down rapidly. it's a terrifying thing to experience.

My 2006 dodge ram 2500 had bad tie rods, track bar and steering damper with less than 36000 miles on it. at the point it became apparent, the truck became very unstable and hard to keep on the road. i took it to modica brothers in my town to have it fixed because any dealerships were at least an hour from me and i felt i needed my vehicle fixed as soon as possible. after getting the truck repaired it was brought to my attention that the truck was still covered under warranty. i have contacted dodge concerning this and was denied coverage because i did not have the truck towed and go to a dodge dealership to have the truck repaired. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. while driving approximately 75 mph, the front end of the vehicle shook violently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the driver side tie rod failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was aligned; however, the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Purchased a 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel. truck was used at time of purchase with around 20 thousand miles on it. five days later driving home from work on the highway at around 55-60 miles per hour the front end began to shake violently. lucky for me nobody was around all i could do was to keep the truck on the road had to use both lanes, mine and the oncoming traffic lane. i was really out of control couldn't steer or brake to stop. after looking on line i have come to know it as the "death wobble" went to dealer and they said i should have e rated tires or ten ply's. they installed new steering stabilizer and suggested new shock absorbers and to take off the front 2" in leveling kit or front spacers that were on my truck when i purchased it. drove truck home and the front end was shaking the whole way. so i bought brand new e rated tires and put all new expensive after market shocks on the truck myself. slight improvement was achieved by these upgrades. also took to another dodge dealer after these modifications for a second opinion. they wouldn't replace anything but said they tightened a few things in the front end. they then said that it was probably the rims on my truck. so i purchased brand new rims and took the 2" levelers off. truck still shakes at around 55-60 mph and is not safe to drive. bottom line is that i should be able to buy a heavy duty truck and take my family on outings without the chance of crashing because of a defect that dodge could fix. very upset and have nowhere else to turn. i have no chance of fighting dodge or even a car dealership by myself. can you help? truck is still under warranty i have only drove 5 thousand miles in one year since i've owned it. *tr

Power steering pump and steering gear failed at 41,000 miles. warranty will not cover the items. truck cannot be driven because it is unsafe to move unless repaired. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500 quadcab 4x4. while the contact was driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began to wander out of lane without intent. in addition, there was excessive steering wheel play that caused difficultly when turning. the failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer five times for the same failure and the steering gear was replaced twice. in july of 2010, the front end suspension was replaced and the tie rods were replaced at a different time. there was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 11v350000 (steering:linkages:tie rod assembly). the contact planned to notify the dealer to verify whether the vin was eligible under the recall. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,558.

2006 dodge ram 2500 "death wobble". truck shakes at any speed but worse at higher speed when you hit a bump. it causes to loose control of truck. the truck just shakes violently and must come to a complete stop on highway. brought back to dealer and was good for about 2 weeks. has been going on since 1 year old. the truck currently has 50,000 miles on it. *tr

I own a 2006 dodge 1 ton crew cab truck. during the month of december i started to experience wheel bouncing when a hit a bump at speeds over 60 miles per hour. i contact the local dodge dealer, they look at it and said nothing was wrong. on december 20, 2006 i hit a bump on the interstate at nearly 70 miles per hour that put my truck into an uncontrollable shake, nearly hit the car next to me and slide sideways to a stop. very lucky that others were not hit or that i did not roll. i had the truck towed to springfield, mo and took it to central dodge. they immediately said it was the front steering stabilizer shock and that they have had numerous other incidents involving this part without even looking at the truck. they change the part and the problem is fixed, but something was troubling as the tech said he would replace it with something stiffer and stronger as they can only replace it with a factory part that he said has been a problem and is not big enough. *nm

2004 dodge ram pick up had repeated episodes of violent shaking, loss of steering control, and almost flipped over 2 out of the 10 episodes. happened when driving over 45mph, usually on the highway, and 50% of the time started shaking after hitting a bump in the road. took the truck to dodge several times, only to be told that there was nothing wrong with it. we were so terrified to drive it, that we ended up trading it in on another vehicle. unfortunately, since we paid cash for the truck, we ended up taking a tremendous loss on it. not to mention the thousands of dollars we spent trying to get it fixed. on one occasion we were stranded a few hundred miles from home, and had to stay at a campground for two weeks until it was " so called fixed". dodge paid for nothing! after picking the truck up after being in the shop for 10 days, and several hundred dollars later, within 5 minutes of pulling out of the shop and accelerating to 45mph, the shaking became so violent it snapped a tie rod and put me in a ditch. when i called the dodge dealership that had just fixed it, they wanted to charge me for towing it back to the shop. this was very frustrating! we will never buy another dodge vehicle. this vehicle is dangerous to both the driver and the other motorists in it's path. *tr
