2004 3/4 ton diesel truck involved in rollback accident which killed consumer's wife.***no answer required***.*mr the vehicle was placed in park with the engine running, the consumer exited the vehicle in which he thought his wife was going to join him, however a few minutes later, the consumer noticed his wife was not by his side and the vehicle was rolling in reverse and his wife was laying in front of the truck. the police investigation revealed that the truck was defective, in that the gear shifter indicated that when the truck is in park for 15-20 seconds it suddenly and without notice drops into reverse. *jb

Drive train vibration (high frequency droan) that can be felt in steering wheel, pedals and even in the seat. purchased in april 04, started trying to get dodge to fix it in may and have made several attempts to no avail. obtained copy of fax from s.t.a.r center case report that apparently this is a fleet wide problem with my particular mode. fax states " this condition is currently under investigation by dodge truck division. tsb / other may be issued when corrective action procedure is defined." since first try to correct in may 04 the vibration fuel line has vibrated lose, fuel injector pump failed leaking fuel out of the rear of the pump, 4 wd transfer case locked up once in high and once in low range at dealers. dealer had to order parts and were backordered. rebuilt parts used to replace failed parts. no codes stored in any module. i think these were failures due to the high frequency vibration. my concern is that the bad part in the drive train will eventually fail and possibly lock up the drive train causing me to lose control of the vehicle. in looking at the fax from s.t.a.r. dodge has a problem with this model and knew it in april 04 but did not notify the dealers or consumers such problem existed. this is a high dollar truck $42,000 msrp and i fear might be my death trap. model is 2004 dodge ram 2500 hd, cummins 600 diesel, 4 speed automatic transmission, 4 wheel drive, shift on the fly, quad cab, short wheel base. the south alabama service district manager, joe soblinaki, told me this was the first year for the new 4 wheel drive setup. they changed the transfer cases, and switched from a eaton axle to a hendrix axle. i did now know this at the time i bought this vehicle. they have been looking for a fix for 4 months on my vehicle and they still don't have a clue as to the problem or solution. i hate to take this truck to arbitration knowing dodge will resell it again and some other inocent fool will buy it and could get killed in it. thanks. *ak

2004 dodge diesel 3/4 ton pickup....jumped into reverse and pinned me between a gate and a barn, fracturing 14 ribs and an ulna. *ak

Purchased dodge ran 2500 2004 4wd hemi new in january of 2004 and found a vibration in drive train and coming through the steering wheel and see the vibration through the rear view mirror as distortion.i have unsuccesfully have got a fix from my dealership after repeated attempts to have them fix the problem. the problem is getting worse.i do not like having a vibration like this at 60 + miles per hour.this is a hazard. put the truck into 4wd and the whole front end shakes when turning the wheels and hard to get back into 2 wd from low 4wd. the cadaletic converter went out at 900 miles. the trouble with vibration is still ongoing at this date 10/13/04.*ak

While the vehicle was running but in the parked position, it automatically slipped into reverse. this incident has happened twice. the consumer had to run and jam the brakes to stop the vehicle. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated there was nothing wrong. *ak *jb
