Takata recall. the fca air bag recall is a joke. they take your information and then say parts are not available and you will be notified. not good enough. how about we expect replacement air bags before you get injured. not we will notify you. how about providing some kind of update after 6 months. the government let these people off way to easy. it is not enough to tell the government that we will recall these vehicles and then never do it. what is being done to be sure that they are following through with these repairs? are they hoping that the owners will just stop asking for the repairs? the public should at least be given an update on when they think parts will become available. their recall system does not even provide you with a document to prove that you ever requested repairs. i had the dealership by my house just put my information on a piece of paper and then told me i would be notified when a part was available. how does the dealership or fca even know that that dealership is waiting on an air bag for my vehicle? i had the same recall on my ford and i will tell you it was taken seriously and my replacement parts was marked urgent in their system and it was taken care of within days not months.

Five months ago i received notice my 2003 dodge 2500 pickup was subject of national safety recall involving takata passenger side airbag being dangerous. today, 10/27/2015 my local dealer reports parts are still not available. i called vehicle safety hotline 888-327-4236 for direction who advises to call chrysler at 800-992-1997. chrysler advises parts still not available, eta dec 2015 or jan 2016 and if i am uneasy about driving it, contact local dealer to get the air bag disabled. 10/27/2015 i called local dealer who refuses to disable air bag because it is against federal law. what shall i do next?

Takata recall was informed early last year via recall notice about the issue, when i contacted dodge to get service they informed me that the parts were not available. i inquired about the safety of driving and they commented..if you don't feel safe you should not drive the vehicle. that is a poor answer for a $40.000.00 vehicle. another issue that is a real safety matter even though denied by dodge is the dashboard on the truck is a hazard due to chunks that fly at you due to the breakdown of the inferior plastic that was utilized...according to a former service manager @ dodge. i went to dodge and they stated it was poor maintenance and had i asked during my warranty would of covered a portion of the repair. how is this poor treatment when you google the issue and thousands of comments appear on this matter? below it requests the date, i am unsure of the exact date just recall it being early last year

I purchased my p/u new 2003. i received a notice of recall for defective air bag inflator housing - p78. today i called my dealer, mid county chrysler in port arthur, tx , to set up an appointment as instructed on the notice. they refused to set up the appointment and reported " the parts are not available". i asked to added to a call list to schedule an appointment once the parts were available and they refused saying " we are not allowed to actuate a list, you have to call back to schedule appointment at a later date. by not having a call list to put my name on, the dealer is making it my responsibility to get my car repaired. in the past had a recall on a ford vehicle which ended up never being repaired because, that dealer kept telling me that they didn't have the part or didn't have the time to take care of the problem. i did call over and over and over again with that one. it did no goo..... now it is seemly starting all over again ! i think they need to have a call back list for when the parts are available and get this issued fixed... this is a safety issue ! i think this is not my responsibility, i didn't build the 2003 pick up or sell it ! now it feels like they are running out on what is expected of them... just like the ford dealer did! only this time i am not wiling to keep calling like the last time ! if they have been sued to make this a recall issue or someone was injured because of it, you would think that they are responsible and liable ! they should be taking a bit more of solving the problem ! thank you, [xxx] owner of 2003 dodge p/u information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
