Problems with 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 STRUCTURE

The vehicle has been in my possession and well maintained since 2003. the dash has started to crack and is now falling apart in large pieces. the dealer refused to do anything about this because he stated it was cosmetic. dodge will not do anything because the dealer will not acknowledge the problem. this is a safety issue. the pieces of the dash could cause severe lacerations in a collision. this seems to be a flaw in the plastic because there are more people having the same problem. the plastics company should be held accountable for this flaw and a recall should be done. *tr

I'm the original owner of one 2001.5 dodge 2500, in 1997 the dash has started to develop cracks, today its in little pieces, i'm afraid to drive the vehicle as the dash might collapse entirely o the wiring causing an electrical fire. i turned to chrysler for help and was told they take no responsibility whatsoever. *tr

I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500, and my dash is falling in. my dash started cracking several months ago and has recently started falling to pieces which are being lost inside the dash. when i googled a replacement dash i found countless others who are having the exact same problem. local 6 news out of florida did a story on this problem and even has a report of the falling debris cutting into the wiring causing the headlights to turn off while driving at night. i have not contacted dodge directly. i did go to the dealership and all they offered was to sell me a new dash at appx. $500. when i googled this problem, several of the people who had complained to dodge were given the same form letter telling them in short that this was not a common problem resulting in a recall and that there was nothing that they could do. i am only one of several people across the country who are looking for dodge to correct a problem they have given us that is not only cosmetic. i find it hard to believe this is being overlooked and viewed as cosmetic. there is a safety issue of broken pieces of dash board falling in and cutting wires, exposed jagged edges of plastic, brittle plastic parts flying around in the cab of the truck during the event of an accident, and also pieces being propelled at the driver and all passengers in the event of an air bag deployment. we are looking for dodge to rectify this problem and admit that there is an issue with them purchasing sub-par materials. *tr

As part of a news report in florida on 2001 dodge ram dashboards i am filing this complaint. i know of 3 people ,not including my self that have these trucks, and all of them are in various stages of failure, from minor cracks in my truck to a dashboard that was completely falling apart in a friend's truck. *ak

I bought my 2001 ram new from dealer . i put a dash mat on first week i owned . a few years ago i noticed a dip in the mat . i took it off and noticed a section of mat missing. i called the local dealer and received no help . i am now missing most of my dash top . there are numerous sharp pieces which may cause damage in the dash area . i found a long time mopar mechanic and he instructed me to call the chrysler care line . they told me the mechanic had no right telling me he has received numerous complaints as they had none on file. three days later i received a letter thanking me for calling them and a license plate frame congratulation me on 200000 miles . this is their way of saying sorry . while checking on other chrysler product issues , i found numerous complaints on this . this is a large safety issue as could cause fire or flying pieces . *tr

We have a 2001 dodge 2500 the dash is falling apart and has become a safety issue for my family. it has been garage kept and only has 68000 miles on it, and even had the plastic cover over the sun visor from the factory. we use this truck in our towing business and some times we haul passenger and some are children who's fingers could be cut due to the sharp edge where the dash is cracked and even one place has fall out now to where a child can put it whole hand down in and there is a lot of electrical wire that could possible cause serious harm. please help i have tried all i can to get something done but no help from dodge. i went ahead and bought a new dash for our truck but having it put in will be my next issue. i think this is a major problem and dodge needs to stand up and fix this problem. after this many complaints someone can be held liable. *tr

The dash on my 2001 dodge ram 2500 pick up cracked in 2005 and has progressively gotten worse. i have a 12"x12" hole in it with several other small cracks that are very jagged and fall out while driving. my glove box hinges (which are also plastic) have cracked and fallen off. the passenger air bag is only being held on by two bolts because the surrounding plastic dash that supports it has cracked all the way around it. *tr

My dash is cracked all over and when i went to take off just dash besal it cracked and if you just pick it up it will break in your hand. these are sharp pointing ends. i would hate to see what would happen to some one if and when the air bag deplore. i never had to take dash apart before so this is do to bad material that did not hold up to the heat or cold. i have a 2001 dodge ram 2500. *tr
