IGNITION 1 HORN 1

Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Vehicle power failure while moving on three occasions. vehicle loses all power including steering. have already replaced several sensors and the pcm with no success. very hazardous to me and all motorists around me.

The tipm has gone up with less than 100,000 miles on the truck and its very costly also i have to keep replacing the blend door actuator i have done this like 4 times its a lot of money and a hassle why havent these things been recalled

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. the contact took the vehicle to an unknown dealer for routine maintenance. the contact was informed that the alternator was about to fail. the contact had the alternator replaced with a rebuilt one; however, the replacement alternator failed a week later. the contact had the vehicle tested for a new battery and she discovered that the alternator failed again. the dealer replaced the alternator again and informed the contact of recalls for the dodge rams from 2007 through 2013. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 103,917. *tt*jb

Started vehicle and the following lights on the dash were lit airbag, traction control, esp bad, antilock brake, and the wipers wouldn't work, also the power outlet that only run when the key is turned, i drove the vehicle and all fore mentioned items went back to normal. this has happened on several occasions and the length of time they are lit/ not functioning varies from a couple of.minute to a couple of weeks.

I noticed that when breaking at a red light or during high traffic areas, my truck looses complete power. i cannot turn the steering wheel and the engine shuts down. it doesn't happen all the time, but enough to worry about not being able to steer away from traffic. i don't know if there is a recall for this issue, but i will certainly will like to get some information about this issue.

Windshield wipers on all the time, all trouble lights on dash are on, speedometer and tachometer are dead, front windows wont operate, back windows do operate. a/c will blow air but not cold air. horn will beep intermittently when car not in use. no trouble codes when scanned. 2 dealers have identified it as the total integrated power module problem. part is unavailable from oem as it is in "engineering review".

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving 65 mph, the headlamps failed without warning. the contact stated that the headlamp switch was set to auto-on at the time of the failure. additionally, the heating and air conditioning unit activated and were unable to be turned off. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the blend door actuator was replaced five times previously; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was called, but was not able to be reached. the approximate failure mileage was 92,178.

Truck would not start, engine would not turn over. vehicle was towed to nearby ahop. was told that it waa a bad tipm (total integrated power module) and upon inveatigation by repair shop was told it was a recall and this module was on back order due to number of vehiclea affected and redesign of module. was without truck for six months. all systems were affected and would not work. it had burned out starter and affected all electrical syatems.

I have had the totally integrated power module replaced twice now due to failure. apparently this is a very common issue in dodges. it has caused my window defroster, wipers, door locks and windows randomly not to work. pretty much anything electrical. my passenger airbag goes on and off, regardless of whether or not someone is in the passenger seat. my abs brake system has been malfunctioning and locking up on me. this has been a huge safety issue when there's cold weather or rain and all of a sudden my defroster or wipers arent working or my turn signal is cutting out. the tipm on other jeep and chrysler products have been recalled. i don't understand why dodge hasnt issued a recall. this needs to be investigated farther.

Tipm totally integrated power module is defective resulting in esp, power doors windows, abs, and wipers not working had mechanic order part and dodge cancelled order on february 8th said would not take orders till march 15th and now it is pushed back to june 12th

I have a 2011 dodge ram. i had to mark 2009 because my year want in the options. i have replaced my fuel pump twice to find out i have a bad tipm. my fuel pump won't shut off even when the truck is off causing a dead battery. windows roll up and down on their own, truck losses power out of no where, and door locks won't work sometimes. i've spent a few thousand to try to get this fixed just to learn it's the tipm.your options won't allow me to check the proper boxes

Vehicle sits over night and battery drains. numerous forms online advised this was not something that only happened to me but, also happened to hundreds of others. it has been to the certified dodge dealer four times with no results. i replaced the total integrated control module, went through 3 brand new mopar batteries, had it put on the diagnostics tool at the dealer and after 3-4 weeks of guess and check they could find no problems with it. something is causing the battery to drain overnight. sometimes it takes one night, sometimes 3-4 and the temp outside does not play any role in it. there is an electrical defect with my 09 ram 1500 quadcab and no one can tell me the issue. i'm believing more and more that i have gotten a lemon and unfortunately i can not take advantage of any lemon law due to my geographic location in the usa. for the love of all things good in this world, please investigate this problem so we don't have to jump start out trucks...please! i've spent an absorbatant amount of money on the problem and have always owned a dodge ram pickup going on almost 20 years. never have i swayed from the brand or, even given a thought to purchasing a pickup by a different manufacturer, however, this has me contemplating buying a ford and trading this ram in on it. it's fully paid for and in great shape and love the truck. but...sometimes cutting the cord and going in the ford direction is for the best. i'm sure this will lead nowhere but this is my final plea for help. please?!

The gears on actuator failed causing a loss of heat in my 2009 ram 1500. chrysler informed me that the recall was already performed and that they will not perform the recall again. when the recall was performed the vehicle did not show any signs of the known issues, so the parts were never replaced. now the parts mentioned in the recall is failing. i do not have heat in my vehicle and because of the cold weather my windows fog up making it dangerous to drive. i believe that chrysler should be liable for this known issue.

There is a problem with everything electrically related to the truck. truck stalls n the road while driving, won't start up at all on some occasions others its fine. once the truck starts, all of the dash warning lights come on. (check engine, abs, low windshield wiper fluid, voltage, low oil pressure, etc) the truck is not safe and now sits in the drive way! according to dodges own website: "we're committed to your safety fca us llc regards the safety and security of our customers and their families as paramount and is fully committed to producing a vehicle with long-lasting reliability. your confidence in our products and our service is of the utmost importance to us. as a result of our commitment to you, we may periodically recall a vehicle to correct a problem or improve overall performance and integrity." well right now for many dodge owners your cars are not safe, reliable or long lasting!

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart while holding the key fob but, when released, the vehicle lost all power. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wireless ignition switch needed repalcement. the vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. the contact found nhtsa campaign number: 10v2400000 (electrical system) online for the 2010 ram quad cab regarding the same failure. the vehicle was not taken to a local dealer for diagnostic testing. the contact stated that the manufacturer was notified, but offered no further assistance. the contact was referred to contact nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 99,900.

Lighting sockets and other electrical parts are melting and smoking causing everything not work. currently not working after being replace in within the last 3 months: headlights, reverse lights, parking sensors (4), heated seats, randomly the navigation/music system, unlocking/locking with key fob (randomly), abs sensors, 4 wheel drive being turned off and on, the parking brake randomly turning off and on. i will be driving and things will slowing start to not work. sometimes the lights don't work when i go to leave in the early morning and i have to take a different vehicle since you cannot legally drive without working lights in the dark. multiple car repair shops have tried numerous things to fix it. we have spent under 4k in repairs on a truck we have owned less than a year, and we are now being told we are going to have to spend 1k plus labor costs to replace the tipm and another couple hundred to bring it to a dealership after and have it "reflashed"

Was driving the truck and all the warning lights come on and the truck just died. i tried to start it back up and heard a clicking noise. thinking that it was just a battery problem, i put a jump box on it and it started. took the jump box off and it died. knew it was the alternator and had it towed to the shop. they put a new alternator on it and still was not charging. changed the battery and still was not charging. checked the fuse box and found a blown fuse for the pcm and changed it. it still was not charging. like anyone else and product of elimination, voltage regulator. go to change the voltage regulator and find out that they changed it to a module that they put inside the computer. now, i have to have the whole computer changed or do without my truck while the computer is fixed. why are they allowed to take such a simple part as a voltage regulator that commonly goes out and combine it with a majar part such as a computer that cost $100's of dollars to fix?

Truck is difficult to start unless you wiggle the key fob, it also shuts off randomly driving down the road due to the key issue. if you adjust the key, you can restart it, can also start it by putting your finger in the hole for the key to go into with the fob next to it. mostly happens when initially starting it and if you hit a bump in the road. we have removed all keys from the fob but it continues to cut the truck off while driving. this was a common recall on the dodge town and country. i talked to dodge this morning and they said our truck was not affected and we could pay for the repair.

On my 2009 dodge ram 1500 hemi i have broken bolts on my exhaust manifold, something is wrong with my hvac system in my truck also. both of which i see are very common problems with these trucks.

My extremely low-mileage ram is experiencing electrical and sensor issues of a truck tens of thousands of miles higher. the key fob will not lock or unlock the doors but the lights will flash. the esp/bas light remains on along with the slipping light plus the airbag light. they all remain on. the driver side door panel will not lock or unlock the doors. the panel will not open or close the 2 rear windows, but, the 2 front windows will open and close. all lights remain on while in motion or parked. i did notice the column shifter was extremely loose and was not as tight as normal. vehicle has just over 65,000 miles on it. and is 8 years old possibly related issues are that the truck was recently taken in for wheel sensor replacements and low idle causing stalling.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that while stationary, the hvac system would not defrost the windshield. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000.

The dealer says its a bad tipm, and that they go bad on ram trucks often. all the electrical system goes crazy, traction control, air bags, abs, blower for heat and air, wipers, door locks, windows and others. if they know this is faulty why not should they have to recall or pay us back

There is a problem with everything electrically related to the truck. the headlights stay on, i have to disconnect the battery to get them to go off. the windshield wipers constantly remain on. the interior lights, door locks, windows, seats, heat, a/c, radio, dash lights, etc do not work. once the truck starts, all of the dash warning lights come on. (check engine, abs, low windshield wiper fluid, voltage, low oil pressure, etc) the truck is not safe to drive and is a hazard to my family.

I am having a complete electrical malfunction with my truck. i remotely started it one cold morning, approximately 20 degrees. after going outside and approaching the truck i noticed that the headlights were on. when remotely starting a vehicle only the parking/marker lights come on. when i tried to unlock the truck with the key fob, nothing worked. i manually unlocked the drivers door and opened it to find an enormous amount of issues. the interior lights would not come on. the windows were still completely frosted up. i noticed that the defrost wasn't working, including the heated seats, heated steering wheel, and heated mirrors. i also noticed that there were no lights or power to the entire radio cluster, heat & a/c controls, parking assist buttons, hazard button, 4 wheel drive controls, etc. the doors didn't have power for any door locks or windows. on the instrument cluster, every warning light imaginable was illuminated. check engine, abs, voltage, air bag, park assist, traction control, low fuel, low washer fluid, seat belt, low tire pressure, all gears indicator lights were illuminated. the center message screen was going through every possible fault scenario. i tried to turn off the truck and restart it but the problem persisted. i eventually had to remove the battery because the headlights wouldn't go off. the truck wasn't safe to drive and was not functioning properly whatsoever. i was told by the service manager over the phone that the tipm is the issue. the truck still has not been repaired and is now a paper weight in my driveway. i have had many other issues with the truck as well that i will file separate complaints on each issue. (transmission shift solenoid, staying in 4th gear, tire pressure sensor flying out of the tire while driving 70 mph, rear power door locks not unlocking/locking with key fob or front door lock controls). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power control module failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

The rear power door locks do not work whatsoever in my truck. trying to unlock/lock the doors in my truck with the key fob only operate the front doors. trying to unlock/lock the doors with the front driver and passenger side power door lock controls only operate the front doors as well. the only way the back doors will lock/unlock is if it is done manually. when the doors are unlocked, the back doors do not lock when the truck reaches the speed that engages all door locks when in drive. the doors will not unlock when putting the truck into park. i could understand if one or the other is malfunctioning, but not both. this definitely indicates an electrical issue. this is a safety hazard. my children can get trapped in if they try to exit the vehicle in an accident, they could get kidnapped/assaulted if the back door locks were pulled up by them without my knowledge, my items could get stolen in my truck if its left parked and unattended, etc. anything can happen with a huge number of scenarios. i have had many other issues with the truck as well that i will file separate complaints on each issue. (tipm electrical issues/no power to anything whatsoever with the truck, transmission shift solenoid, staying in 4th gear, tire pressure sensor flying out of the tire while driving 70 mph) this truck is a safety hazard to my families life as well as my own. *tr

Battery started going dead. battery and alt both tested good. a lot of things stopped working including; back windows, rear sliding glass, power locks, heat/ac fan, abs, traction control, park assist, mirrors, wipers, and a few other things i am forgetting or haven't found. had a chrysler mechanic friend of mine help me diagnose the tipm as the problem. tipm is drawing 4a when the truck is off. i am now having to disconnect the battery any time i park it for more than an hour and put the battery on the charger over night. tipm is on back order because according to the mechanic, chrysler is installing 9 a day and that just the ones for my 09 truck which only works in 09's. very frustrating and been hell to drive this in the spring in mo, no wipers or ac during rainy, humid hot season just sucks and is my personal hell.

Vehicle odometer resets at 66,000 miles. the vehicle has done this three different times consistently @ 66,000 miles.

For the past month now my 2009 dodge ram 1500 hemi has stalled out on me 4 times. it has happened both while shifting from reverse to drive, slowing down to stop at a stop sign, and just sitting in drive in a parking garage lot. truck has 142000 miles on it but this stalling issue has happened before around 30k. i can put the truck back in neutral or park and start it back up but there's a knock every time now. it is starting to worry me that the truck may stall out on the freeway. i do notice that it occurs whenever the rpm get low around 500-700 rpm. the truck then bogs down and stalls whenever i shift from reverse to drive on the few occasions that it happened. when i was pulling into a parking spot or slowing down to stop at a stop sign i also noticed the rpm drop to stall the truck.

I was stopped at a red traffic light, when it turned green and i accelerated, the truck power felt as if the truck was pulling a heavy load. i notice the shifter indicator on the (-/+ ) instead on (d). i try to shift to (d) but instead it went to reverse.the tires squealed and the truck died. it started back up by the radio was not operable. i shut the vehicle off and turn it on and the radio work. this particular issue with the radio has occurred a total of 2 times. since the first occurrence i have an engine light on. now when the truck is in (-/+) mode on the instrument panel. it indicate my truck is 4th gear. there is another (-/+) as well on the shifter were you can increase or decrease the gear you are in. i have tried to change that gear. by pressing the + and holding it, it will show that it changes from 4 to d but as soon as you stop pressing the button on the shifter it goes right back to 4th gear. the way i can get it back to d, i have to shut the vehicle off after putting it park of course, and started up, then it shifts to d, eventually it goes back to the manual mode. i just purchase this vehicle from carmax in woodbridge. i was told that their vehicle safety inspection was by far the better. i have seen multiples complain about this same problem by the hundreds. to bad i didn't see it before buying. nice truck and all, but in the meantime owners of these vehicles with similar problems or worse are still driving these vehicles with their families on board, and what it is going to take for a family to end up dead on the road because dodge instead of taking responsibility for manufacturing a defective product, possibly with the knowledge of the problem and now they will continue charging people that purchased their defective vehicles until it becomes eventually a recall. a vehicle operating in that condition would fail any state dmv inspection.

Was communicating with fca for buyback under n08 recall. was refered to dealer, and dealer requested personal loan information before they would take action. this alerted me that they were trying to find out the debt so they could low ball their offer. they were pressuring me to trade at blackbook value. am dealing with spouse with cancer and was not informed of a expiration for buyback. truck is now sitting in drive with axle lock condition. i feel i have the worst case scenario with this and request expedient assistance from your office. have now lost $15k value in this. will consult legal representation. a personal response from your office would be appreciated. fca claims buyback ended 1/4/2016 even though i had a ball park offer from them and apparently they will not honor the offer.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while driving 60 mph in inclement weather, both high and low beam headlamps failed to illuminate. the contact independently replaced the bulbs; however, the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module (tipm) needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tipm needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 93,000.

Our truck began stalling the engine at low speeds in dec. 2015, i changed all 16 spark plugs thinking this would fix the issue, it didn't. about 2 weeks after this started, i was trying to unlock the truck with the key fob for a short trip into town. the headlights would flash, but the doors would neither lock or unlock with the fob. i opened the door with the key and started the engine. the idiot lights for the air bags and the traction control were both illuminated. we had never had any issues with any of this previously. next, i tried to lock the doors for the trip, using the pdl switch and found it to be inoperable. also not working were the pw, hvac system, horn, and windshield wiper system. this was so very strange that i googled these symptoms and discovered the tipm, totally integrated power module, for these vehicles are failing at an alarming rate. thank god that my wife didn't stall this truck in a highway driving situation and become the victim of this known and documented safety flaw in these vehicles. fiat/chrysler needs to step up to the plate and repair these vehicles before lives are destroyed due to this defect.

This vehicle is listed in the buyback program due to rear axle pinion nut defect. was offered blackbook value to trade and low blue book trade value for buyback. vehicle exceeds all condition requirements. chrysler has demanded to know my debt value before appraisal. fca is stalling and trying to capitalize a profit margin on my truck. dealer used pressure tactics for process, stated process would take extended period of time and i should trade it in or let them repair. have received 2 trade offers for wholesale value, from 2 different fca dealers. the rear axle has now locked up once while backing out of a parking space at my workplace, 1800 north fruitridge ave, terre haute, ind. i was able to get unseized and home. unable to drive due to safety issue. fca stated they required 3rd party appraisal but will not proceed until i release my debt value and account number to them. this is an outrage! i expect they will de-value my truck as to be less than i owe, thereby making a buyback impossible and forcing me to let them repair half of the issues with this truck! i will be losing about $8k from retail value. $ which they are trying to profit from selling a defective product. is this what you are allowing? i don't think so. in addition to rear axle, there was a blend door actuator recall which they claim is resolved. it is not! the truck's heating system does not work. the buyback offer given was for $19025.00 plus $1903 for 10% repurchase, for a total of $20928.00, but pending appraisal with debt value release. this corporation is manipulating the process to increase their profits while releasing them of liability. what are you, as the overseeing governmental agency going to do about this? i want my $ returned fairly. i will lose $10k even with a retail buyback. i cannot lose $18k for a manipulated, scam of a deal!! this a follow up to a previous complaint.

At 12k -13k miles i experienced an engine stall in the early morning. the instrument cluster remained lit and i was able to engage the emergency flasher. i was on a back road and luckily i was able to coast into a driveway. after numerous turns of the key fob, the engine started. this incident was reported to the dealership, but they seemed to shrug it off. fast forward to 10/9/15. i had trouble again starting the truck. i proceeded to the store and was on a main thoroughfare when i started to turn across traffic into a parking lot.the engine died and luckily my momentum carried me off the street out of traffic and into the lot. cars had to go around me as i tried to get the vehicle started. the next monday 10/12/15 i had trouble starting again and i was able to proceed to work. at the end of my shift, it took a couple dozen turns of the key fob to get the truck started and i made it home. the truck now sits in the driveway waiting for a service appointment on 10/30/15. if it does not start, it will have to be towed. when i inquired online about this problem i was aghast at how many others were having the same issue as me and chrysler was doing very little to make it right. the stall of an engine in traffic is a very dangerous safety problem. the truck has a battery less than 2 years old and has only 35200 miles on it. i am not getting any check engine lights. it is serviced routinely by the chrysler dealer.

Key fobs, remote door lock/unlock failing. key fobs keep failing, buy new fobs and after about a year they fail. owners resort to unhooking the horns as the horns sound when manually unlocking the doors with the key. this is a stationary failure of the fob. however if owners are disconnecting the horns, that would be a safety problem while driving when the need to alert other vehicles arises. vehicle owners are not purchasing new fobs due to cost but rather disconnecting their horns so that the alarm does not sound when unlocking the drivers door to gain entry. many owners are not reporting this defect due to the fact that they don't see it as a safety issue with the vehicle. a quick internet search reveals a vast # of complaints on website forums. source-i am an ase master tech. i have an 09 1500 that this is happening to. i do not disconnect the horns but rather just don't lock the truck. (taking a chance against theft)

Totally integrated power module (tipm) has been dangerous. all four windows went down while truck was unattended and locked several times. we replaced the expensive tipm and car stopped doing that. a few months later, we found out that just one electrical item can cause the entire tipm burn out that affects almost everything in the car. for us it was the backup camera that had a short. it caused air bags, seat belt safety, windshield wipers, defrost/fan, backup camera, locks not to work. dealership had to replace tipm again. we also believe the tipm may have had something to do with our transmission locking into gear.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving at any speed, he accidentally encountered the key with his knee and the key fell out. the failure recurred multiple times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system ).the approximate failure mileage was 99,200.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while attempting to activate the air conditioner, it failed to activate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 1500. while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine would not start, the shifter would not move, and the key would not release from the ignition switch. after removing the key from the ignition switch, the key was still in the ignition message displayed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the win module failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000.

There is an issue with my 2009 dodge ram 1500 abs sensor, specifically the front passages side sensor. when reaching certain speeds, the abs break attempts to engage, it also engages when pressing the break slightly. this cause one to correct the amount of pressure applied to the break, and also i have to correct the steering to counter the increase in breaking. when it is time to actually break for an emergency, the truck will not break properly and cause and accident or my life.

When i was driving on the express way doing approximately 70 mph, i went to put the cruise control back on and the vehicle lost power. it dropped approximately 20 mph and then the vehicle allowed some power to return such as lights, dash board, and throttle. i was able to get the vehicle home (approximately 10 miles) losing power a few more times. some of my warning lights started flashing like there was an electrical issue and most of them stayed on until i made it home and parked in my drive way. the electronic throttle control light was what i noticed first when the power returned each time. as i would lose the ability to keep a consistent speed on the roads the electronic throttle control light would continue to flash and i would have no power to increase speed and found myself coasting for short periods of time. after getting the ram 1500 home, i tried to start it and it would not start but the warning lights and dash board would light up, my key would not release, and then eventually it would not even turn on. i've had it towed to a dodge dealership and they said it was the tipm unit. i'm just glad i was driving it and not one of my children who are recent drivers and do not have my experience.

V-8 hemi quad cab. problem was also reported to dealership at earlier (unknown) date while under warranty but problem went away at dealership. with car parked, driver side door-mounted lock will not operate door lock to lock when trying to leave car. these incidents occur intermittently maybe once every 1 to 2 months. when approaching parked car and using the remote to unlock electric door locks, it required 5-10 tries on keyfob. so bad one time, actual key had to be used to unlock driver's door. the consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the brake transmission shift interlock recall repair. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 (na) dodge ram 1500. when the contact started the vehicle, the computer dialed 911, the fuel tank light illuminated, and the front headlights flashed off and on. the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure recurred. the instrument panel lighting flashed off and on. the computer system turned on automatically. also, the radio dial switched from fm to am signal. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the harness was burnt out and replaced. the dealer also changed the software. the failure recurred a week later but had not been diagnosed again. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

While going down interstate my abs, service 4wd, esp traction control and brake light all came on at same time. when it happened it happened it knocked my cruise off and slowing down. i got back on the gas and started to speed up then all of a sudden my gas became my brake it locked all 4 tires up at high speed. i was very lucky no one was real close to me. i made it to safe place to pull over and check it out and no matter what i did i couldn't get it back going correctly. at first it would do right and get up to 30mph and ease on gas little bit and it would start breaking when touching gas. has to have it towed. it was very dangerous and i was real lucky not to wreck. i home this problem can get resolved. *tr

Passenger side headlight intermittantly fails, but bulb is ok. windows intermittantly roll themselves down. key(fob) gets stuck in recepticale. passenger side windshield sprayer does not spray water.

On 3/30/15 my ram truck exhibited the condition described in the k17 (reprogram hvac control head and inspect/replace actuators) recall. this recall was created to eliminate the possible malfunction of the hvac system to properly defrost/defog the windshield. it involves updating software and replacing mode door actuators. the plastic actuator gears can easily be broken when the control head sends the wrong signals to open and close the mode doors. at the moment, my defroster/heater is not working and when i first start the vehicle, there is a series of knocking sounds for several minutes as the malfunctioning system goes through its progressions. i took it in to my local dodge dealer (gurnee) hoping that the recall would eliminate the condition. the mechanic replaced the actuators but could not get the system working properly. he said the control head is not working properly but the recall only covers the software update and not the replacement. from my research i have noticed that other ram owners have encountered this potentially dangerous condition. if it was just a matter of the control head wearing out and not working, i would be okay with replacing it at my own expense. in my opinion though, it is not a case of 'wear and tear' but instead i believe it is a defective component. the faulty control head causes the breakage of the actuators and mode doors. people who encounter this problem in the winter are at risk of an accident due to the inability to clear their windshield. drivers may even need to get their vehicles towed. i believe that dodge should be responsible for repairing the system to its normal capabilities. that is what a recall is designed to do. this is simply a case of a previously recalled vehicle remedy not working as designed. i called dodge customer support on 4/10 and talked to a rep that said the repairs would be my responsibility. *tr

Started driving truck and all gauges went blank including speedometer. warning lights for air bag, check engine, low tire pressure, brakes, etc. all came on as well as wipers started working with switch in off position! *tr

There is a banging noise that seems to be coming from behind the glove box. i researched it online and think it's a heat blend door actuator that went out. i was quoted over $500 for the repair due to the complexity of getting to the issue through the dashbaord. a while back there was a recall on some part of the ac/heating but i cannot remember what is was for. i called their hotline and was advised that recalls are active for 10 years from the manufacture date, so in my case, through 2019. i searched www.safercar.gov and there wasn't any recalls listed unver this vin. i read that others are having this same issue and i feel this is a defective part that should be recalled as at one point it disabled the blower. the blower operated intermittently which was extremely hazardous during winter. *tr

Blend door actuator and blend door gear box failed repeatedly changing hot air from ac unit to cold air or vise versa.
