My girlfriend used the brakes and the abs system would allow her to slow down and regain control cause it kept kicking the pedal back with no braking control whatsoever. she hit a guard rail and as the air bag deployed a piece of metal inside the steering column caused approx a 1 1/2 inch tear in the side of the air bag causing to not inflate and causing damage to her neck severally to the point where she needs surgery now to have cervical vertebrae fused together and extreme shoulder pain and unsure of the cause for that now. if this air bag would not have tore and worked properly she would have a soar face right now and not needing surgery. yes we fully intend to start making inquiries to lawyers starting 3/2/2015 and find a remedy because with all the air bag problems dodge has had this should have never happened. *tr

Ok, so i recently buy this one owner dodge ram 1500 pickup. 2003, 90,000. in pristine condition. i mean primo. i get in the pickup, and am pulling out of my driveway and hear what was a loud craking sound, like breaking plastic. i didn't think much of it, thinking i ran over a can or something. later in the day, i notice my dash board. oh my god. it has this large crack in it. right above the glove box from the glove box to the window. i then notice another crack right above the passanger door vent (dash) that is working it's way up toward the window. i do some more inspection and see yet another crack near the defrost vent and a small part of the vent missing. i figured that out today when i piece of plastic blew in my face and hit me in the eye when i turned the ac on. i thought, well, maybe i was duked. maybe it was in an accident. i check it all out with carfax. nothing. clean title. well maintained one owner. wtf. i call my local dealer. 'well, we are aware of the issue, we have heard about these things happening, but your truck is out of warranty". what? this is not a warranty issue. it's a defect. after hours of research, i see this is a huge problem with these trucks. the dealer said it's about a $2800.00 fix?? what?? so now i am stuck. i am going to persue this matter for as long as it takes. this is not "sun damage" i know what sun damage is. this is a defect. i have been driving cars/trucks for 30 years, never ever seen a dashboard do this. ever. please keep the complaints coming. tomorrow i am doing battle with dodge at 800-992-1997. i am one pissed customer. who was a loyal dodge fan....not any longer. *tr

The dashboard has cracked and broken in multiple places. it clearly will affect the deployment of the passenger airbag. *tr

The 2003 dodge ram was struck on the front right side near the front tire by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. the ram was spun around and struck the other vehicle again on the back right side on the truck bed. the airbags in the ram did not deploy causing serious injuries to both the driver and the passenger. the truck had been struck so hard that the axle and tire were broken completely off of the vehicle, but the airbags did not deploy. the airbags had never been deployed before and her vehicle had never been in a crash before. *tr

Tl* the contact owned a 2003 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 25 mph, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. during the crash, the front end sustained severe damage. the vehicle was destroyed. the air bags did not deploy. the driver sustained facial, upper torso, and right hand injuries. passenger number two sustained a head laceration and concussion. passage number three sustained an upper torso injury. passenger number four, who was seated next to the window, sustained an upper torso and left leg injury. all four passengers in the vehicle were seated in the first row and received medical attention. a police report was not filed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 170,000.

Dashboard has developed cracks in multiple locations above the passenger airbag. cracks continue to increase in size and severity. electrical components of passenger air bag compartment are exposed to dust and dirt. i am also concerned about fragmentation of the brittle dashboard in the case of a crash and or airbag deployment. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 1500. the contact was driving 55 mph when he crashed into a semi-automatic truck. none of the air bags deployed and the contact sustained chest injuries as a result of impacting the steering wheel. the vehicle was destroyed and towed to an auto body shop. the police were contacted and a report was filed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 109,000.

Tl* the contact owned a 2003 dodge ram 1500. the contact was driving approximately 35 mph when another vehicle ran a stop sign, which caused the consumer to t-bone the other vehicle. the contact stated the air bags did not deploy and he sustained injuries to the back, but was not transported to the hospital. a police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. the failure and current mileage was 160,000. updated 05/24/11 *lj updated 06/06/11

The dash on my 2003 dodge ram 1500 is cracking. these are not cracks from the sun. two cuts/cracks appeared suddenly and a third about a week later. they look like cuts that were made with a saw blade. parts of the dash over the air bag are loose and flopping around. the edges are sharp and can lead to a person cutting them selves. i'm afraid that in an accident the air bag would not properly deploy. the dash is an intrical part of the cabin structure. this is not an isolated case as i've found hundreds on the internet. *tr

My airbag light has been on for no reason i had 68,000 miles at that time, dash board starts to show cracked lines, and the sun visor is so flimsy on the driver side, it was replaced under warranty because it cannot hold to its position it falls down and block the driver vision, the truck was fairly new at that time. now the passenger side sun visor has the same problem. talked to dodge usa about all this problem but they said my vehicle is not included on any recall..hope you can help there is a safety issue on this problem... note: this vehicle has never been in an accident thank you *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 1500. while driving between 45-50 mph another vehicle crashed into the passenger side of her vehicle. none of the air bags deployed, nor did the seat belt system secure the occupants. she received moderate injuries. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to a collision center . the failure and current mileages were unknown.

Driving my 2003 dodge ram 1500 4x4 a woman pulled out in front of me and i t-boned her on the passenger side going 45 totaled out her car my air bag never went off and the seat belt never locked causing me to go forward in to the steering wheel i bent the steering wheel with my left knee called dodge and they sent someone out to look at it by the time they finally cam out it had been 11 day from the time i called them so the body shop had already started to repair my truck i received a letter in the mail today telling my that "your impact was not significant enough to deploy the front air bags" come on i was going 45 mph how fast would i have to go for them to go off. *tr

Dash is cracking and apparently this is a common problem, the underneath support is plastic also and known to fail and collapse, i am concerned if my airbag deployed there would be shards of glass sent into the passengers eyes or worse it would be cut by the sharp plastic pieces and not deploy in an accident at all, this vehicle is garaged and a dash protector used and this issue is all over the internet , i feel dodge should issue a recall on these faulty plastic dashes. *tr

I have a garage kept 2003 dodge ram 1500 and the dash is cracked near the passenger air bag. i have read alot of complaints on the 2001-2004 trucks. this is a safety issue. *tr

Dashboard and dash panels are spontaneously cracking. pieces of vinyl are falling apart possibly affecting the proper function of air bags. hot engine air is leaking inside the vehicle through the cracked board affecting the proper cooling a/c system; driver and passengers are breathing engine fumes that are entering the cabin through the openings/cracks. *tr

I was in a head on collision at 70 mph and my airbag's didn't deploy. *tr

I own a dodge ram 1500 2003, that is included in the airbag recall, however, after going to the local dodge dealer i was informed that they cannot replace my airbag because i have a cracked dash. the airbag is attached under the dash, and if they were to try and remove the dash it could disintegrate. so i was very upset when told this, because i have grandchildren that ride in my vehicle, and it has now become a great concern for their safety. not to mention that i live in florida, one of the high heat states, that affect these airbags.

Dodge dashboard cracking and falling apart. *tr

1. unintended (sudden) acceleration; 2 feet on the brakes* brakes worked, have pictures-1/2 inches into pavement. filed report with police. 2. air bag did not deploy- hit hydro pole, 55 km/hr, speed limit is 60 km/hr. *tr

My husband was driving our 2003 dodge ram truck,he hit a vehicle going 45 mph, never touched the brakes and the front end of our truck was destroyed. he had on hsi seatbelt and the airbag did not deploy which caused head injury. i contacted chrysler who sent out at representative to check the vehicle who said the truck had no problems. there has been nothing done or offered to correct this. *jb

Tl* takata recall. the contact and the deceased driver owned a 2003 dodge ram 1500. while driving at a high rate of speed, another vehicle crashed into the driver side of the contact's vehicle. the driver lost control and crashed head on into a utility pole. the air bags did not deploy. the driver was fatally injured from the impact of the crash and the failure of the air bags. a police report was filed. the insurance company diagnosed that the location of the impact was not near the sensor, which was why the air bags did not deploy. the contact was uncertain as to whether an independent source investigated the failure or the manufacturer. the vehicle was destroyed and towed. the contact recently received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v312000 (air bags). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect. ..updated 12/11/17 *bf *tr

Dash board cracked which has caused very sharp edges and exposes the airbag. *tr

I was driving on a busy roadway and traffic came to a complete stop the car 2 cars in front of me slammed on their brakes to stop. he was on his phone, the girl behind him and in front of me then slammed on her brakes and hit him, i then locked my brakes and hit the girl in front of me...my airbags did not deploy and i was going from 25 to 30 mph when contact was made...there was $1,800 damage to the jeep cherokee that she was driving as well...after looking at the aftermath the sensor in the grille was just hanging there but the grille was completely pushed in. 2 mechanics have told me that the airbags should have deployed but i do not know who to take it to, to see if this is a correct assumption. the damage has not been fixed because i need to know if the airbags should have deployed. *jb

Dt: contact stated while driving on the highway and hauling an 8 foot by 16 foot trailer it caused the vehicle sway to the left then to the right. the vehicle and the trailer shook. the contact pressed on the clutch and it caused the tires to lose traction. the vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic, and another vehicle hit the contact's vehicle on the passenger's side. upon impact, the driver's side air bag did not deploy. the contact sustained injuries, and the vehicle was totaled. *ak

Dt: two vehicle crash, while going 30 mph consumer's vehicle hit the side of a truck with front end. no air bags deployed. the truck as a problem was totaled, and did not know why the air bags did not deploy. no recall notice was sent to consumer. *ak

Unresolved recall, they can not or will not fix problem, and no response from nhtsa, seems politics do make strange bedfellows. this is an 2003 vehicle, 16 years old, so, in a few days i will start another year in an unsafe vehicle, can not sell, can not fix, less than 70k miles

Takata recall: my dealership has not replaced the airbags yet and they say they don't know when they can. i think they are stalling. this is a dangerous situation and they need to fix it or find some other company that will.

Takata recall. i have contacted dallas dodge, my dealer multiple times and they still haven't replaced my airbag. i contacted them in june 2016 and was told i would have to wait again.they keep telling me that there is a shortage of airbags. i have the oldest vehicle in this recall and live in texas which is in the most likely zone for this to happen. i am worried about my wife and grandchildren every time we drive this vehicle. since this problem gets worse with the age of the vehicle and which zone you live in, i would hope that dallas dodge would want to fix these vehicles first. please help, my family needs it.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision, and the air bags failed to deploy. *jb

It has been a few years since i was notified that this truck has a defective takata air bag, yet the dodge dealer has still not contacted me to fix the problem. i had called them a couple of times in the past, and every time i called them, they stated that they are aware of the problem and will contact me when they get the replacement parts. how much longer is this going to take?
