Gas filler pipes spit out gas when fueling resulting in spillage on vehicle, ground and person pumping gas. *tr
When filling tank on our 2007 dodge nitro, fuel will pour out of fuel fill down the side of car and all over the floor. pump will shut off and fuel will burp out of filler. *tr
2007 dodge nitro, fuel system gasoline. during fill-up the fuel spills out of the filler neck due to a bad fuel tank rollover valve. vehicle has 38k miles when problem started. *tr
I own a 2007 dodge nitro 3.7 v6. i have been experiencing for over the last year when i fill up the gas tank it will click off at the nozzle but then i get gas spewing back out! very scary and a safety hazard. i am out of warranty for my vehicle but i know i am not alone in this. the only fix i know of is replacing the gas tank at my expense. i feel dodge should do this at their expense since they know it is a common problem! *tr
It appears there is a problem with the gas tank which seems to spill fuel every time during refueling. *tr
When filling with gas the truck will not signal the gas pump to "click' and shut off when the tank is full thus causing gas to overflow down the side of the truck. *tr
After filling the fuel tank to capacity, about a quart of fuel spews out. this happens every time the vehicle is refueled at any gas station. the problem started around 15,000 miles. *tr
Gasoline overflows onto side of truck and ground when filling tank. *tr
Gas overflow on the 2007 dodge nitro. purchased nitro two weeks ago and the last two times out of three when i put gas in it overflowed when taking the gas pump out of tank. first time the pumped stopped on it's own and second time i stopped the pump manually because i thought too much gas was going in. *tr
While fueling my 2007 dodge nitro r/t as the fuel reaches full and the gas pump clicks off, some fuel burps up and spills to ground/on to side of vehicle. this occurs each time i fill up the fuel. *tr

Gas overflow from tank, upon automatic shutoff. happens on all fillups. will return to dealer for inspection. *tr

Gas overflows from the tank when filling with gasoline. *tr
Splash back of gasoline when filling up fuel tank. incident occurs just about every time tank is filled and the consequences are that a large amount of gasoline shoots back out of the filling nozzle all over the painted surface of the vehicle and on to the surface of the area in which parked. in addition to aggravation, environmental damage, paint damage, there are extremely dangerous consequences that could occur if some sort of an ignition source occurred at the time it happened. controlling the flow/speed of gasoline from the gas pump through the nozzle into the tank filler tube does not lessen the problem. i am going to discuss this matter with my dodge service department on 18 feb, 2010 to find out what they have to say about the matter. *tr
i have a 2007 dodge nitro and after filling up my gas tank the nozzle clicked and there comes fuel gushing out all over the place. it happens every single time i fill my tank with gas. *tr
While refueling gas will overflow onto the truck and ground. this happens every time i refuel now. it does not matter how much gas is in the tank, what gas station, time of day, winter or summer, the result is the same fuel overflow. this started about 52,000 miles and i have 60,086 miles now. *tr
Gas overflows when filling the gas tank on the dodge nitro. *tr
Gas spilling out of gas tank when filling from gas pump. i took my nitro in this morning and they had done and ready to go by noon. invoice reads as follows: 78240 confirm gas overflow when filling, test vent hoses, good. found rollover valve in tank not sealing. replaced fuel tank and seal. 1-68034783aa tank replace charcoal canister & o-ring. 1 4891757ac canister 1 55366298aa o-ring-fuel pump and level cost to me was $425.00. *tr
Whin filling tank gas boils out just after the auto shutoff clicks.
Approximately two years ago while filling up my gas tank the pump shut off to indicate a full tank and gas was gushing all over the side of the vehicle and the ground. at the time i thought it may have just been the gas station pump and didn't think to much of it. the next time i went to fill up it did the same thing. the pump shut off and gas spilled out of the vehicle. this has been an ongoing problem ever since and i am never able to fill up the gas tank. after looking into some dodge nitro forums i realized that this is a vehicle problem related to a fuel tank roll over valve stuck open which could be a safety hazard. *tr
While fueling the vehicle the fuel overflows once full and goes all over the ground and vehicle. the pump shuts off but fuel just comes back up through the tank fill spout. *tr
Every time gas tank is filled completely and nozzle shuts off, gas spills out of the tank all over the car and onto the ground. severe fire hazard. car is not being topped off. happens only when tank is allowed to be completely full. has to do with the vehicle and not the gas stations pumps. dodge incorporated a shut off system in suvs to prevent fire during a roll over accident but this is the part that is failing in the gas tank. is a severe safety risk. *tr

While filling gas tank, when tank becomes full it will spew out gas all over the side of the nitro and on to the ground. not just a small amount of gas. close to a pint of gas, if not more. at each fillup. tried different pumps at different stations, in different states. all do the same thing. very hazardous to spill that much gas on the ground each time the nitro is fueled up. *tr
Uncontrolled accelleration of 2007 dodge nitro, w/3.7 litre, has happened 5 times in six months of owning . cant be fixed by dealer cause doesn't show code or able to duplicate when they have it , only way to stop it is to put in neutral and kill engine . have had other problems like idle rough and surging , and like someone turning key off and on for split second while driving at highway speeds. there has not been any pattern to when sudden acel happens , it has been random and can seemingly happen w/out notice. the dealer keeps telling me to keep driving it till it does it again so they can try to get codes or something to trouble shoot it. but this is very dangerous as you would think. im at a loss to what to do , i have contacted dodge complaint line and they don't seem to worried about my safety as it would seem , do to them wanting me to keep bringing it back to dealer . also no parts have been changed in order to try to correct ,only hook up scanner and drive around block and flash programs at it which has seemingly had ill affect on it as in my fuel mileage has went 23-24 highway to about 15-18 now, and they cant get it back where it was, now it is parked in driveway and family wont drive because scared of it, and i m still paying on vehicle that is unsafe and no idea how to fix , or dodge i should say, cant fix. *tr
About 2 months ago when filling my vehicle with gas when the pump shut off it splashed out quite a bit of fuel. i thought ok one time. my vehicle continues to do this now. because of this i just put in so many gallons of fuel and turn off myself. i called the dealership and they said would have to bring in and pay to have it tested. i have seen online that several people are having the same problem with the nitro. this is dangerous as it could splash in eyes, etc. if you are not aware. i would think there would be a recall by now. i have left 3 messages for the dealership to call me to discuss this but no one returns my calls. *tr
As you are putting gas into the fuel tank it will overflow from filler spout and spill out causing a hazardous condition and environmental problem. this will happen not matter the amount of fuel in tank. i was told by dealer that the hole into the gas tank is smaller than the fill line and causes back up. if you try to fill very slow the sensor in the pump does not detect and it overflows. dealer has replaced gas tank but did not help the problem. *tr
