We have classified the 12 complaints from 1996 Dodge Neon about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Oil leaks from the engine head gaskets every eight months. dealer contacted and did repairs. problem still exisits. also, car stalls while driving, due to a problem with the computer. *ak *ml
While driving the vehicle stalls unexpectedly which may cause an accident. dealer replaced spark plugs/head gaskets, etc. problem is still occurring, dlr cannot determine problem, cause unknown. please provide details. *ak
Recall 96v026000/626. experiencing same wire harness problems. consumer was driving and smelled smoke coming out of the grill and the inside of the vehicle. flames occurred, vehicle caught fire. fire department called. vehicle was totalled. dealer contacted because they were servicing vehicle at the time. problem was never remedied after dealer had car three times. provide further information. *ak
The computer control module does not work, leaving the consumer not knowing how mauch gas, or what speed he is traveling. dealer has been contacted. *ak

Rear brake failed. yh
Head gasket/ instrument cluster failed.
Tail light is filled up with water and it leaks. spare tire holder in the process trunck is wet, also leaks down through the sides of the back seats and floor, water shorted out the wires on the tail light. dealer contacted and cannot duplicate the problem. *ak
This was consumers fourth time of having head gaskets fixed. on 02-25-1998 head gaskets and camshaft were replaced at 24,194 miles; on 04-30-1998, cylinder head & spark plugs were replaced at 25,509 miles; on 10-5-1998, engine oil leaked, camshaft sensor seal was replaced at 28,847miles; and on 0 3-27-2001, gaskets/ valve cover, and spark plugs needed to be replaced at 48,800 miles. consumer was trying to get to bottom of problem, and find out why this kept happening. *ak
Transmission malfunctioned. in addition, premature wear of front brake pads/rotors/headlights failed/electrical short due to severed wires/winshield washer bottle had hole in it and installed horn. *ak
Transmission rebuilt by amoco said almost all parts were "chewed up" now 1 yr later slips going into 1st and has no reverse the head has been replaced 2 times and has gone again sppedometer stays on 0
When driving at 50 mph the engine check light came on and the cosnumer lost power and the vehilce will died out and then cme back on. also, whenever the radio or the a/c was on the vehicle will shut down. *ak
While driving noticed that there was smoke coming from front of the windshield and hood located on the outside of the vehicle. then all of a sudden a fire broke out by the outside of the hood and windshield. *ak
The horn assembly malfunctioned in cold weather, but the dealer could not determine the problem. please provide further information. *ak *yc
Ignition switch when turned on does not release back to the proper position, causes the air bag light to stay on. none of the electrical components operate unless turned on manually. dealer contacted, and cannot duplicate the problem. *ak

Horn has beeen replaced twice. horns blows involuntarily. dealer believes horn pad & airbag would have to be replaced. there are times it doesn't work at all. *ak
Horn does not work, vehicle will not pass the safety inspection, replaced horn twice. tt
