I own a 2006 dodge magnum str8, that will not some out of park, with 66,000 miles on it. i have read over many many reports of this exact issue with dodge magnums and chargers and now it has happened to me. why is there still not a recall on this issue? i am shocked that the nhtsa has not received far more complaints regarding this issue. *tr

We own a 2006 dodge magnum, and the car shifter is stuck on park. the car also seems to vibrate while going over 50 mph. don't think the "thump" noise is normal when there is a shift in gear in an automatic transmission. *tr

My car was working fine until the next day i went out the to the car cranked it up tried to put it in drive, it will not go out of park. *tr

I witnessed a car incident on my way home from work and i put my 2006 dodge magnum in park to check on the victim in the accident. when the police arrived i was instructed to leave the area and my car would not move from park position. it seems that this is a re occurring problem with dodge magnum as i read on car blogs. i had to get my car towed at my own expense from the area. i have not yet repaired the problem as i do not have the funds. but i had to dismantle the gear box in order to push the override switch to drive the car. *tr

The vehicle rolled away while in park. *tr

Vehicle will not shift out of park. *tr

We own a 2006 dodge magnum. the vehicle has been maintained with the appropriate maintenance by the dodge service center. on 07-02-09 the vehicle was driving from home at 10:00am, at 10:30 once trying to depart the shopping center location the vehicles gear shifter would not remove from the parked position, and had to be towed. it was discovered that all the 2006-2007 dodge magnums, chargers, and chrysler 300's gear shifters have been getting stuck in park. the reason giving is that there's a defective plastic wheel that breaks. this shouldn't be taking place, it's not known whether other's have broken in another gear while driving or not, and could be detrimental if it does especially while the vehicle is in motion and causes the driver to have an accident and instantly go in a direction or just stall in traffic. this needs to be addressed and placed on the recall list, just as the cable shifter has been recalled on the dodge magnums. please look into this matter with reimbursement to all that have had this problem repaired. *tr

The transmission on the dodge magnum has many issues. the check engine light come on and off signaling that your transmission is not shifting properly. a person can feel a "thump" and the car will momentarily stall. have taken to the dealership continuously for repair. the check engine light will still come on and off randomly. the dealership say they can not repeat the incident. a blog on edmunds.com on "dodge magnum transmission problems" has several entries complaining about the same incident and dealerships saying the same issues but no real answers. my problems occurred about with 40k on the odometer. others reported earlier incidents. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and failed to switch gears. the dealer repaired the transmission, but it did not remedy the failure. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that the vehicle needed to be driven 100 miles. after the vehicle had been driven for 1,000 miles, the failure still persisted. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they advised her to change the tires. the current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 20,000.

Since the purchase of this vehicle in may 2007, it has repeatedly suffered from transmission shutter; a loud thumping shake of the car when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gears (automatic transmission) at medium-low speeds. i have taken to the dealer repeatedly but they are unable to confirm the problem. *tr

the vehicle will not reach rpm over 3000rpm this is associated with the transmission . when this occurs (intermittently) the transmission forward gear selection does not work nor appear on the dash board selector only the d is lit it will not shift to lower gears as it would do normally ie. 4, 3, 2,1. if the car is brought to a stop and shut off it will when started again it will behave normally. since this occurs intermittently and without warning it presents a serious hazard as acceleration fails when entering traffic? *tr

I have not owned my dodge for more than a yeah and i am encountering transmission slipping and varying electrical problem with my vehicle. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. the engine light began illuminating three months after the vehicle was purchased. the dealer stated that the engine and the oil pump caused the failure and both components were repaired. currently, the transmission is slipping gears and the vehicle will no longer shift into reverse. the powertrain was unknown. the current mileage was 50,738 and failure mileage was 48,000. updated 3/7/08 *cn the egine was making a tapping noise.

I purchased a 2006 magnum from lithia of fairfield in may of this year, 2006. the vehicle was running fine for the first five months (may-oct) with the only distraction being one of the rear windows operated fine from both power switches for 90% of the time. i took it in during routine warranty service and explained to one of the service managers but because the power window switches were operable that day i was told there was nothing they could do (that didn't sit to well with me, but i shrugged it off and said ok). in october, a few other incidents happened like the blue tooth quit communicating with the system. i figured to wait until my next routine service maintenance to have it looked at in a few weeks. around the same time frame i noticed the vehicle did not shift smoothly into reverse and that while sustaining a steady highway cruising speed the vehicle would feel like it wasn't firing on all cylinders if i gradually increased the rpms. i made note and asked to have this investigate at the same time i was taking the vehicle in for the scheduled maintenance. unfortunately (or fortunate, depending on point of view of surviving a highway accident), the transmission failed while on the way to work driving on a very, very busy and dangerous stretch of road where the average speed is about 75 mph. the fortunate part of this being i was able to limp along for about one half mile on newly completed shoulder of the road to an exit. i literally shudder, which sends chills down my spine, to think "what if my wife had been driving the vehicle?". *nm

I have a 2006 dodge magnum i had the car for about 5 years at about 95,000 miles when i got off from work i've gotten into my car and started it up and just when i apply my brakes to put the car in drive it would not move into drive reverse are neutral at all and i heard this happening to other vehicles such as chargers etc. when i called the dealer about it they told me that it could be the shifter assembly and its a very common thing that happens to a lot of these particular cars and to me that's not a good sign and it should be taking into consideration because that's a defect that needs to be on recall you can be in a middle of nowhere and i try to take off and i can't put my car into park while at a drive threw somewhere and i can't move my car into drive and now am stranded my car is at the shop right now getting prepared to be fix and there charging me 360 dollars plus tax just to fix what they know is common on those cars and it really needs to be looking into because no car should do that i was better off buying me a toyota are something that's not going to brake so easily like that and i shouldn't have to pay for something that dodge dealers know about these cars commonly braking like that and i will be getting that shifter assembly part that broke as well. *tr

The vehicle surges between 1500-3500 rpm's and sometimes at idle. the problem comes and goes and is often accompanied by problems with the transmission shifting. somethimes at a stop the trans will not down shift and when i accelerate again it is stuck in a high gear which has many times caused me to be put in danger while pulling into traffic, the car won't accelerate to speed properly. it is unerving to never know if it will drive properly without shifting or surging problems. it has been doing this for 15,000 miles and i have taken it inot the dealer 6-7 times and they still having fixed anything, because there is no code coming up for them.
