As i was driving through a grocery parking lot, i remember taking my foot off of the accelerator to slow down and to make a right turn up an isle to go to a parking spot. once my foot came off of the accelerator, my car died, no brakes, and no steering. the electrical continued to work as my music was still playing and the flashers worked as well. i put the car in park, and pushed the start button, nothing happened. i tried a couple more times and then my car started back up. i drove to a parking spot, shut the car off and turned it back on. i drove back home with no issues and put her in the garage. i'm very nervous, to say the least as i have to drive to work tomorrow. i hope this does not occurs as i'm driving 55 mph.
When you are driving the car it doesn't matter the speed the car will turn off without any warning. causing a dangerous and scary situation after you put in park and press the start button amd it will turn back on. happened on 10/ 07/18 the first time replaced crankshaft sensor. it happened again on 10/18/19. i noticed journeys have this problem on almost all years models and i was going through the recals and inoticed that a majority of people complain or have the same problem about this sensor. even though dodge is only recalling 2016 journeys because of this problem. i think dodge should do a recall for all of the years for dodge journeys over thos problem and its extremely dangerous for the car to just turn off without warning. that being a family car that could lead to an accident.
This vehicle has had a re-occurring engine light for code for the past year and a half. the code is p0441. not only has this code been a nuisance it is also causing the vehicle to stall. i believe the emission system is purging the fuel vapors at the wrong time. we have taken the vehicle to two separate dealers for service for a total of 7 separate visits. the engine light continues to come back on and once that happens the vehicle will stall randomly at slower speeds. one stall was specifically turning a corner at slow speeds. another stall occurred in parking lot maneuvers. i have googled this vehicle with this code and it is a very common problem.

Car shuts off while driving at any speed. it shits off while parked or stopped at a stoplight. the car will not turn back on. sometimes it take about 30 minutes and it will restart but will only run for about 5-10 minutes. when trying to start the car, we press the brake and then the start button and the car violently jerks as it tries to start, but will not turn over. it has happened since we bought the car march 2019 but the dealership wont take the car back or trade it for something else.
Precisely on 7.3.19 i had 4 of my children with me heading to a holiday parade. my car w/o warning completely stopped in the middle of a road. no power, no brakes, no steering. air was still blowing; radio still playing. my daughter and i pushed my car to the curb, my husband came and pushed my car further to avoid an accident. after several attempts the car restarted and restarted fine. drove another .5 city block; stopped at a stop sign, pulled out and my car died again in the middle of the intersection. my husband was still behind me & pushed us out. we drove home. he looked under the hood, nothing stood out. i didn't get any warnings on the dash. the car has driven fine until 7.5.19. my daughter and i just turned onto calumet ave; a very busy and dangerous road and my car died again. several cars flying around us laying on their horn. i do not have power to turn, to brake. my daughter and i got out and push my car into a parking lot that has a slight uphill entrance. it was not easy, it was dark outside. a very dangerous situation. i can only flip my hazard lights on, well what does that do when a car is flying up behind me at 40-50mph? i am terrified my car is going to die and my family and i are going to get seriously hurt and/or killed. reading on the internet there seems to be many people with the same issue and dodge is not responding. i have children who require trips to indianapolis for medical issues and it is a 3-4 hour drive for us. speed limit is 70. i cannot afford to trade this in and purchase a new car. i do not where else to go for help. if you call a mechanic or the dealership they tell you that can't help without looking at it. dodge dealer denies ever hearing of it before which i don't believe. neither of course will do a free inspection. i get it they're there to make money. recall should be issued to fix this before it becomes deadly.
While driving the air conditioning automatically comes on. i was driving to work on a residential street, decided to open the window even though it was 8:30am and it was already 95 degrees outside here in vegas. didn't get out of my complex before the air conditioner came on by itself. also with the air conditioner on, my car seems to run higher in idle and while driving it seems to double step when braking and coming to a stop. it does like a small jerk in acceleration coming to a stop.
Tapping noise under hood. took to 3 different mechanics and each one told me this is a default with the manufacturer. had oil change done and tappung noise still continues. the mechanics stated that the nosie is coming from the top and cost between $600-$3500 to have repaired. this happens all the tome when vehicle is running or idle.
After driving in about 70 degree sunny day for about 45 min the traction control light and abs light dinged on then after pressing the accelerator the vehicle chuffed and completely died in the middle of a busy interction. turn the vehicle off for about 10 min and continued driving another 45 min without a problem. this has happened on several occasions at various speeds from a stop to about 70 mph.
My 16-year-old son was driving our 2015 dodge journey to school. he began to hear a noise that sounded as if something was dragging underneath the vehicle. the driver behind him was flashing him to pull over, he began having issues controlling the vehicle fortunately he was able to pull over and as soon as he got to the stop sign the car completely died after making a loud noise and started smoking. my son jumped out of the vehicle and the driver behind him told him to get away from the vehicle as he felt it was about to catch fire by the smell. once the tow truck driver got there and try to start the vehicle to put it in neutral the car again filled up with a burning smell. he jumped out and had to call dispatch for safety reasons of transporting the vehicle. once my vehicle arrived at lonestar auto plex in cleburne texas our service man dan was amazing. he kept us informed along the way asked questions and he was provided the service records. come to find out the engine seized up. the engine, oil pump, starter, all had to be replaced. chrysler requested the engine so their engineers could look at it. although everything was covered under warranty, my concern is now that there are others out there driving in the same thing may happen to them if not worse .

My vehicle radiator thermostat was 1st running low. now it's running high. i talked to dodger on dealership near me. they say that my vehicle doesn't have recall notices for radiator problems and they will charge me to repair it. they are now giving me offers to buy a new vehicle.
My car dies while i'm driving engine just stops
The vehicle started slowing down and making noises, not shifting, delayed engagement, and before everything happened it didn't show any sign of problem on the board (no check engine) and the car was in motion, on a city street.
My journey will turn off sitting a stop light or just turn off while accelerating from a stop position. entering or exiting traffic. when checking engine light the camshaft sensor was defective. this causing my car to turn off.
Key fob should not go out so soon. car do not start. i changed battery. it will unlock and lock doors but do not start. i called dodge 8004236343 and they told me that i can start it with the key but there is no where to put the key other than the door. then they asked me to put the key fob to the push start on the opposite side of where i insert the emergency key and press to start and that did not work. they walked me through step by step and it still does not work. plus my car shakes while driving.
I have a 2015 dodge journey that has had major problems with it. before the car was even a year old it was taking into the shop for transmission problems. the car completely shut off on me while driving in the middle of a busy intersection while i was turning left. the car would not restart and had to be towed to the dealership. at that point, the service was escalated to a higher department and a high level repair person was brought in. less than 15,000 miles later, the car began heavily shaking every time it was driven. the find was that there was a missing bolt in the tie rod. the service man said there was no reasonable excuse that could explain how this would even occur. today, the car is in the shop for the second time in three days. initially for the batter light coming on while driving. i was told there was a loose wire and some corrosion on the batter but that it was repaired. less than 24 hours later then light came on again while driving this time with the warning on the panel that read battery saving mode. i immediately returned the car to the shop. waited all day yesterday only to be given the same explanation that was previously given. upon further probing i discover the car had never even been re inspected. the car continues to be in the shop has has been undrivable for 4 days now. i have a 6 year old sone who is transported in the vehicle daily. i'm beginning to fear for his safety in the car given its history and will no longer place him in harms way by driving in this car. the unbelievable serious problems that have occurred with this vehicle are alarming. especially, given the fact that there is no clear explanation as to why the issues are arising. these are not normal wear and tear complications. these are serious manufacturing issues.
1. the driver seat belt does not stay locked in. periodically i would put the seatbelts on and it will unbuckle as if it wasn't secured in. i heard it click. it has happened several times. luckily i was not moving at the time. 2. i received an tune up at approximately 95k miles. one if the pistons was misfiring. i believe the 6th one was. brand new parts and was installed by a professional mechanic. there is a knocking noise that will not go away. the belts have been checked. 3. while out of town i was parking and while in reverse it became hard to turn. i later found out that there was no fluid in the powersteering. there was a low fluid indication. .i immediately filled the car up will power steering fluid. since then it has been harder to turn my wheel. it started off i could not turn right without a struggle. then it was the left side . the only way to turn is to accelerate and turn. this came out of nowhere. the aggressive progress in the loss if steering ability is troubling especially with smaller children.

I had a check engine light turn on- within seconds my engine shut off and i lost all power steering and brake control. i had to let the car roll to a stop. i put the car into park and restarted it. i was able to drive about 100 ft and it turned off again. towed to dealership and code that came up was for the throttle body to be replaced ($716 usd). i had it fixed but car still was not driving the same as before the replacement. 10 days later the same thing happened in my subdivision. the engine turned off and i lost steering and brakes. check engine light came on again. this time the car would not turn over. it would try to -you could hear the engine trying to start. towed it back to the dealership and now it is the crank sensor?(another $147usd). each time this happened i was in the car with my kids and had to let the car just roll to a stop. the first occurance was on 11/28/17 and the second was on 12/14/17.
While driving down the highway, my alternator went out. the battery light came on and all of the lights started flashing. i managed to exit the freeway and get to a safe point. i am reporting this because i see that there was a recall on 2011 - 2014 models. the very same thing happened to my vehicle.
The problem was the engine stalling while driving. lost the ability to steer and brake. i had this problem happen to my 18yr old daughter on october 9th 2017. i called the dealer on october 10th where we purchased it to explain what was going on. they got it in that morning and drove it for about 30 miles and could not recreate the problem. they said the car did not give them any codes to tell them what the issue was so they could not do anything because they did not know what to replace. i am not sure if there is a relevance to the problem but a week before this happened my keyfob would not work at all. the car would say key not detected. i had to press the keyfob into the button to get the car started. once i got home, which is 15 miles away, i noticed the tpm sensors were only reading 1 tire pressure. the others were reading "---". the keyfob battery's were replaced on both keyfobs to make sure that was not the issue but it didn't help. i disconnected the battery to reset the computer and the keyfobs started to work correctly. i drove the car a few miles and the tpm sensors started to read. again i am not sure if this is related but thought i should point it out. this is a dangerous problem and could end up very bad with not being able to steer or brake because you loose all power. here is a video of the problem happening. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0b5m2jjg-syvivhhjuhzlwmdycdq
While driving with our two children in the vehicle the engine shut off and the power steering and power brakes did not work, there was no control over the vehicle. luckily it was a city side road and we were able to coast to a stop without hitting anything or getting rear ended. nothing would work on the vehicle. after about 10 seconds the engine started back up without having the brake pressed or pressing the start button. my wife drove the vehicle back to our house which was about six blocks away.
On several occasions, my journey has just shut down while in motion. this has happened to me and my husband. lights go off, engine will not start, cannot push the brake to initialize startup. online i have found many others with the same problem. some believe that it is related to the key fab. the electronics key is not being recognized and shutting down the car. i took it to dodge dealer and of course they could not duplicate problem or get a code. however, the danger of this is unacceptable!! i have two boys under the age of four! will a death have to occur to investigate this!?
While driving with my 2 young children my car shut off out of no where. i was driving down a busy street in a large city and went to turn right into a parking lot, as soon as i pulled into the lot the car shut off, the steering wheel and break locked and i couldn't do anything to make the car start. after about a minute of francially pushing the 'push to start' button the car turned back on. thankfully we were in the parking lot at this point becuase if we were still on the street we wouldn't have been in a major accident.

I was driving my car out of a drive through and when i got to where i needed to turn, my engine just shut off. car started rolling electrical was still on (lights, etc;) but the steering wheel would not turn at all. i had to put it in park, turn it off and then turn it back on again. after that, it worked again. what if this happens to me going 80 on the interstate? i have children to think about.

Driving on a major highway when all of a sudden, i noticed my speed dropping. i pushed on the gas but got no response. then traffic began to stop but i couldnt! my brakes did not work!!! i put my hazzard lights on and began to drift across 3 lanes of traffic because the steering also did not work!!!! i almost caused several accidents as i was unable to control my vehicle. i made it to the emergency lane and pushed the emergency break coming to a joilting stop. once i caught my breath and stopped shaking, i was able to restart the vehicle. i then exited the highway and crept across town back to the dealer where i had just left getting my oil changed prior to this incident. they checked out the vehicle but found no bad codes or any other issue so there is no fix for something they could not re-create.. this is my 3rd journey (2010, 2011, 2015) and i believe this is an accident waiting to happen. i had no issues with the prior two years. i am terrified of driving this vehicle now especially noting so many other complaints of the same issue.

On early december 2015, water leak inside my vehicle, i brought the vehicle to kendall dodge, the back seat containers were fill with water, the carpet was wet as well, kendall dodge keep the vehicle for a one an a half week, when they call me to advised me that the vehicle was ready when i show up to the dealer to pick up the car the case manager show me the vehicle it was noted that the back seat container were half way with water, i ask the case manager what was done in my vehicle she couldn't answer she apologized and she told me that she will send the car back to the shop, 3 days later they call me again to tell me that the vehicle was ready, when i pick up the car an inspection was done and it was noted that the back container had rust, i ask again, no response, since the beginning of this i been in contact with chrysler, i had requested mold test or replacement of the carpet, the vehicle smells bad had rust i dont know if it has mold chrysler keep giving me the run around, this vehicle was new when it was purchase may 26 2015, in addition the transmission keep giving me problems it seems that they are defaulting in the agreement that was made when i purchase and sign for this vehicle, i have two little girls and they spend a lot of time in this vehicle going to school and places and am not sure if this vehicle is safe for them, please help my tel: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
In dec 2015 i received a recall notice and was informed that another notice would be sent when i was to contact the dealer. this is for the anti-lock brake system. the 2nd notice was received in jan16. i called the dealer on 1/4 and 1/21/16 and was told they did not have and did not know when they would have the part to make the repair. they said they would take my name and number and put me on the waiting list and call me when the part was in. it is 3/1/16 and i had not heard from landmark dodge where i purchased the vehicle from and had been in contact with. i called them to see if they had the part and guess what they said they just happen to get 5 in today! however they could not schedule the repair until 4/1/16. we are talking about the brake system here. 4 months to do a repair that the manufacturer knew was required for safety sake. i really feel the nhtsa should look into this. also this is the 2nd recall on this vehicle and i have not even owned it for a year yet. the first was the engine beauty cover which we had to wait for that part on also. we have been forced to drive with a faulty anti-lock brake system control module on this vehicle for at least 3 months. and that was just since we were notified. this is unreasonable and a safety issue that really should be addressed. and i don't think the dealer was even going to call me back as they said they would.thank you. *tr
