Car has an intermittent start. would shut off as driving at times and would not start until next day.

The horn beeps at random times when im not driving and even while driving. my windows come down on their own at random times and sometimes it wont start.

I have a 2010 dodge journey bought it a week ago with 108k miles after i brought it home horn would go off by itself had to pull the fuses out to get it to stop and now recently when trying to accelerate the rpm will go to 5000 at a speed of 40 mph and won't shift and it will cost me a fortune to get it diagnosed and repaired

While parked, locked and unattended the horn kept honking and would not stop. had to remove fuses 22 and 23. other people have reported this same problem for this same type of vehicle and they have not had any resolution. a horn is required to drive incase of emergency to avoid collisions. it is criminal that dodge will not address this dangerous problem. help is need here, please. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-journey/375847-2010-journey-with-honking-issue-4.html

My car is at 71000 miles it will not switch into gears meaning i have to pull over turn car off and back on in hope that it will switch gears. many times that doesn't work. my brake caliber has been replaced and it still is messed up again. yesterday i was riding down road and car just powered off on me for no reason. i could not start it back up after hour it restarted.we checked engine fluid etc everything was good. i waited until end of my shift went and got car to take home. as i began traveling home a power lighting bolt came on in my dash. car shut off again would not start unfortunately i was unable to bare off the road because everything locked up in car. i wish i never purchased this car.

1st thing was the horn, randomly honking at all hours of the day of night. it had stopped.... for now.... but now my car is not starting. for some reason it won't turn over, i can turn key to let it do it's emission test before starting then turning key to start, it just clicks and doesn't start. car has done it at grocery store, daycare, work, even shut off by itself while stopped at a red light.

I just had to replace the ignition switch, knowing other dodge journeys had a recall, but of course not mine, yet there are so many complaints about electrical issues with my specific model i have no clue why they were not recalled! to add insult to injury this may or may not fix the issues i'm having. my airbag light goes on and off randomly and often leaving my car and family vulnerable. my etc and traction control lights along with my engine light come on randomly and throw my car into limp mode while im on the highway with kids in the car. the lights clear themselves out when i turn the car off then on... so it has been impossible to diagnose but has made me susceptible to break downs and near death experiences. the electrical issues in this car have been many and quite expensive...the latest bill was $750 & most likely did not fix the problem. i will never buy another dodge product. thos is an unreliable vehicle that is quite dangerous to drive!

car stalled while turning a corner. it has happened before when driving down the road. it sounds like recall no.l02.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. on several occasions, the horn inadvertently honked. the vehicle was taken to suburban chrysler dodge jeep ram of garden city located at 32850 ford rd, garden city, mi 48135 (734) 421-5700 where the horn was disconnected. the contact stated that the failure recurred. while attempting to remove the key from the ignition, the key was stuck in the ignition and had to be forcefully removed. on several occasions, the key fob failed to operate and drained the battery. the engine warning indicator illuminated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the key fob needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags). the approximate failure mileage was 51,284.

Takata recall car shuts down when jarred or quick stop. also gas pedal sometimes lags for power.

Front wipers won't turn off and no turn signals head lights won't turn off and high beams don't work . alarm goes off randomly and horn goes off randomly

Vehicle will not start after sitting idle and off at random times. in past 2 weeks car would not start at least twice, 3 times in the past 6 months. battery, starter, and alternator has all been changed and still had a shutoff. when turning the key a click sound would happen but no turnover. lights would be on and no low battery warning.

The car will not start half the time i've taken it to the dealership and they can't find the problem i go to the store and get in my car and the anti theft light will be on and it will not crank the internet is flooded with the same problem from thousands of owners and it's still not fixed i'm tired of being stranded when i still owe 8000 on my car

While driving my son to school everything shuts off in car while driving from the lights interior and exterior, wipers, windows can not go up or down, unable to alert anyone in traffic that i was coming to a stop. this occurred while it was still dark outside. has happened multiple times now no one knows what is going on after taking into shop i was given this site to report it due to several others claiming same issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving at any speed, the horn sounded intermittently without warning. the vehicle was taken to memorial highway chevrolet, inc. (814-467-4596, located at 1 chevy dr, windber, pa 15963) where the technician stated that the warranty did not cover the horn. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the warranty was expired. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Horn constantly going off draining battery. so far i have replaced my battery twice. this has happened a few times, while driving, parked, on and off. doesn't matter just keeps going off. we took the hot fuses out but the battery is still being drained by it.

I have been having ignition switch issues with my 2010 dodge journey--curiously similar to the issues that spurred a recall (ro3) with the same model/year journeys--but my vin didn't show up in the affected list. i took the journey in to my chrysler dealer to repair an ignition switch getting stuck, and the estimate was around $800 to repair the switch and reprogram the keys! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while the vehicle was stationary, the ignition switch delayed to start the vehicle. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

It started with car alarm going off at random times, then windows not working correctly and eventually landed on relays firing all night long and dead battery every day. the car has been to the dealership multiple times with no fix, so i replaced the battery, ecm, keys, tipm to no avail. there are so many people on the internet with this same issue, but no clear fixes out there. it has rendered the car completely unuseable and unsafe.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the horn randomly sounded without warning. the vehicle was taken to victory chrysler dodge jeep ram (64 greensburg st, delmont, pa 15626, (724) 468-4114) more than three times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while stationary and driving various speeds, the horn malfunctioned. the contact stated that the horn sounded independently while the contact was not in the vehicle and while driving without it being engaged. moritz chrysler jeep dodge ram of fort worth, texas was made aware of the failure and stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 40,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the key had to be jiggled in the ignition switch to start the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to park rapids ford (located at 1205 park ave s, pox 830 park rapids, mn 56470) where it was diagnosed that the ignition module failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v139000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was called and informed the contact that they did not have control over who dictated the recall and referred the contact to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 115,793.

I was sitting in my apartment when my daughter came in and asked why my car was running, i have my key sitting 100 yds from the car, i turned the car off went back inside and 10 min later it started again i used the door lock to lock it this time, it haven't started by itself since i started doing this. now when i get within 10ft of the car it will unlock and roll down the windows i don't even have the key in my hand. i can' t have this happen any more help.

I have had several incidents with this vehicle. on two different occasions as i was driving, as i began to brake, i lost all power and on two other occasions the vehicle wouldn't start and i had to call to get a jump, but was told my battery is good both times. the last incident happened on 4/23/2017 at 8:30 pm est. i got in to start it, but it wouldn't start and i called a service tech, who came out to jump start it, only to tell me that my battery is fine and that according to his equipment working properly. he was unable to start the car; however, i started it without incident this morning, but who knows how long before it wont star or just stops running as i'm driving and i lose lights, brakes, etc.

For the past 2 years my car horn honks whenever it wants to, in traffic or parked in garage. other drivers think i am honking at them (so far neither my wife nor i haven't encountered a disgruntled driver). dodge dealership doesn't recognize this as an safety issue.

While at home, parked in the driveway, the horn began to blow on its own at 3 am. this also occurred while parked in a parking lot at a grocery store and while parked in the parking lot on a sunday at church. it continues to blow at random, while parked, anywhere.

On april 1st 2017 while driving home after an oil change and tire rotation job by a dodge dealership, i noticed smoke coming under the driver's dashboard side and burning smell, after exiting the freeway. the dashboard went "dark or blank" but came right back on, and my wipers turned on by itself. i don't have control of the wipers while they are "on" and it will turn itself off as soon as the dashboard lights are back. the smoke and burning smell didn't last long. it happened fast without warning and gone quickly. it stopped by the time i found a safe parking spot. while parked, i found out that i lost my lights (headlights, tail lights and signal lights) but the horn, power windows/doors/locks and radio are still working. my dashboard indicator showed something about "fuse" warning. i called the dodge dealer (who just performed the oil change) and told a service advisor what just happened. i told the advisor that the "engine light" came on but it is steady and not flashing. back at the dealership, i told the service advisor that my dashboard went "dark" & wipers combo again at least 3x on the way back to the dealership. the service advisor checked the journey and came back with the bad news of melted dashboard harness / instrument cluster damaged due to an "electrical short" and cost of about $5k repair. the dealer don't know what caused the "electrical short". filed auto insurance claim and they are not covering it (not comprehensive) because there's no fire (contained) and they are calling it a mechanical breakdown!

Car "froze"while driving. alarm started going off. windshield wipers and washer fluid and alarm kept going though i pulled over and shut off card. suddenly it stopped. turned car back on, check engine light was on then turned off. now door locks don't work, back hatch won't open. washer fluid is low. key fob does not work.

We have a 2010 dodge journey that began to have multiple and bizarre electrical issues. the horn began honking randomly and sometimes it just wouldn't start. now we have battery issue. we replaced the battery but even the new battery drains overnight. i'm paying notes on a vehicle i cannot drive. i was fired from my job (attendance) and desperately need my vehicle to drive so i can get a new job.

In february 2017, vehicle started randomly honking in the middle of the night parked (off) in the garage and went off intermittently for several ours. had to pull the fuse to get the horn to stop honking. took to mechanic first time (the couldn't replicate issue) and had car battery replaced- got home 1 hour later and it started again. took into dodge dealership and they couldn't replicate the issue either but replaced the key fob batteries and seemed to work for a day. started all over again. took it in for the 3rd time (in a month) and had horn wiring harness replaced. lasted 3 weeks and now its in the shop again for the 4th time and still cannot determine what the root cause is as they claim its not throwing out any "codes" to show what's wrong. dealership has contacted chrysler and the aren't sure what to do at this point either.. help!!

Air bag light goes on at certain times, and the horn goes on all by it's self while the vehicle is sitting with out running, and while driving, i had to remove the fuse to stop the horn from going off on it's own, but now i have no horn and that is a safety issue

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact had to restart the vehicle in order to operate. the vehicle was taken to a peters chevrolet chrysler jeep dodge (4181 us-259, longview, tx 75605) where it was diagnosed, but the contact was unaware of the diagnosis. the vehicle was reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 157,000.

The horn blows intermittently both while driving & sitting in the driveway. this causes a dangerous situation while driving & waking up my neighbors at night. *tr

Ignition key turns off accidentally while driving - unsafe and can cause a fatal accident. *tr

The horn blows intermittently both while driving & when off & parked. this has startled drivers & pedestrians. it has also awoken my neighbors at 3:00am. i see numerous complaints on line but my dodge dealer is not aware of any problems.

We purchased our 2010 dodge journey sxt brand new in october 2010 for 30k (a rip of for sure) - being young, naive and our first brand new vehicle purchase. within 3000 miles, we had to have all of the rotors resurfaced. the brakes have been replaced twice. a full set of tires twice. the car shut off while running three times, almost resulting in horrible accidents (this was due to the ignition issue that *eventually* recalled). the alarm would go off randomly and often without reason. the dealer of course, was unable to replicate the error. so we were left with no other recourse than the remove the fuse, which is totally unsafe but was the only option we had. now, within the past 8 months or so, the battery has been going dead after being left without running for at least two days. the battery has been completely replaced with a brand new battery twice, and a full diagnostic scan was ran on december 22nd when the latest new battery was installed. they found absolutely nothing wrong as to why the battery was draining. now, today, its dead again after two days being left sitting - another full set of brakes was replaced a month ago - and yet another rotor needs to be replaced, as there is no salvaging this one. this car only has 60k miles on it. we have absolutely zero chance with the virginia (where we purchased the vehicle) 'lemon law', as any issues need to be reported within 18 months of the delivery of the vehicle. this vehicle needs to be completely recalled and all the issues need to be fixed by dodge. we're underwater for sure on our loan and at best, we'll only be able to get 3k for a trade in. its a running when it wants to death trap and dodge needs to make this right with their customers. we loved it when we first purchased it, but now we're apprehensive about what else we're going to have go wrong with it.

Rebuilt cylinder heads due to misfire in 2 cylinders. engine will not start, starter will just click when key is turned. horn beeps by itself.

I have read that several others online have had similar problems and dealer can not fix it. i have had this car 3 months and at random times when you try to start the car it will not turn over, will not start. it is not the battery, it has been tested. it will not start when jumped, it at times will start in neutral, but the others you just have to wait until it decides to start, hours, sometimes days. it is electrical, possibly anit theft. i do not understand why this has not been recalled.

Car will not start. just clicking noise in gear shifter and near glove box. after about 50 times trying then vehicle starts and is fine until next time which may be weeks, months or days.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and loss power. the vehicle was able to restart. in addition, the vehicle would not start when prompted. the contact stated that livonia chrysler jeep (30777 plymouth rd, livonia, michigan 48150) replaced the vehicle battery three times and the starter was replaced twice. the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, they could not duplicate the failures. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was 65,803.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the horn sounded numerous times without warning within less than a month of owning the vehicle. the dealer was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. the contact was uncertain if the dealer would be able to provide a solution. the manufacturer was notified. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

After car sits over night car is started and drove less then 5 minutes and car will shut off with out cause. loss of power steering and brakes. car has to placed in neutral and restarted. will crank over about 6 times a small then restart. this car is unsafe to drive. it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are going it will shut off.

The alarm system goes off by itself. even when i am driving
