Car will not start at times, usually when it's hot outside, and it takes anywhere from 5 minutes to a day before it will start back. battery, keys, and alternator are fine. most of the time if i put it in neutral it will start but other times i am left stranded. i am afraid to drive far from home because if i turn my car off it may not start back . i have been stranded for hours with my kids before in the high heat. this needs fixed asap, been going on for 5 yrs now.ask anyone with a dodge journey and they will tell you they have the same issue.
On several occasions my dodge journey has shut off while driving and while sitting at a traffic light. some instances occurred while turning at a traffic light or driving straight ahead on a local city road. the check engine light, traction equalizer warning and air bag lights all come on just prior to the car shutting off most times. other times there is no warning until my steering wheel and brakes lock up indicated that the car has shut off. i've had the car serviced for the engine amongst other repairs and the problem still persists and the codes clear only temporarily. the car lights dim or flicker and the car shakes sometimes when starting up indicating that the car will not hold power to drive. the battery is good and the mechanic has stated that the issue is electrical.
My 2009 dodge journey has been having a no start issue that has been getting progressively worse over the past 3 years. at first it was just when it was hot outside or the car was hot after driving an hour or more, now it happens at any given time, even first thing in the morning. i can usually get it started after 5-10 tries, but never on the first try. the last time this happened was on monday, june 17, 2019 when i took it back to the dealer for the 5th time this year for this problem.
Car will intermittently start and then won't start. battery is fine. checked neutral safety switch. still nothing. have been stranded several time.
I drove my vehicle to the grocery store with no problems. i shopped, came back out and tried to start it. lights, radio, windows, locks... all worked. when trying to start, you hear a single click each time you try. we tried to jumpstart it; there were no changes. it wouldn't start. i had the dealer tow it. they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. they ended up getting it to start with no answers for me. they just said they can't figure out whats wrong with it or why it acted the way it did. i did some research. its common in dodge journeys; therefore dodge should adress the issue.
This is just too much. i have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. sometimes it crank and then it won't. i can get in it and drive to work, but by the time i get off it will not do anything. the lights and radio work but the car will not turn over. it's like it will work for awhile but after turning it off it could take hours to start up again if it starts up. and yes i have also tried the putting the car in nuetral, but when it don't turn over you can not change the gears.i don't hear any cranking noise, the truck just lights up. i have had a new starter, battery, and alternator put on. i have had this truck pull home on a tow truck from work and soon as they unhook it it will starts up...i have two young kids and i have had the experience of going to a gas station in the evening after getting off work and after turning off the car it will not crank. the horn just starts honking on its own sometimes,and the theft system alarm light almost never stops blinking. i have spent more than i almost paid for the vehicle, and still have to uber places. this is a major issue that needs to be resolved. took it to the dodge dealership and they want you to leave your vehicle there for about 4 days and want to call you with a ridiculous money quote. come on dodge how much more do your customers have to suffer from a problem you don't want to fix. a very concerned consumer and parent.
When using right turn signal dome lights turn on, if cruise contrail is on cannot use brights will shut off cruise by itself, car stalls, and will not always start, when it does start many times will stall right away, and when driving stalls. air bag light on which have read can mean airbag fail to deploy.
2009 dodge journey has issues starting intermittently. seems to be an issue many people post about. if you let the vehicle sit for awhile it will sometimes start back up. inserting key will make it possible to turn on lights, radio, roll down windows, etc, but the vehicle will not start, only click.
Was driving on my way back home with my 4 kids when the car stalled and wouldn't turn over. put key fob in ignition and would make a clicking noise then it just stopped making noise. got car towed and had battery checked and the battery had full charge and only 2 years old.
I own a 2009 dodge journey that i purchased in july of 2018. beginning in august i started experiencing a no crank no start problem. there were 3 times my car wouldn't start while i was at home. my car has been towed approximately 9 times since september including 2 times to the dodge dealership for diagnosis and repair of the problem in october. initially the mechanic diagnosed a dead cell in the battery. i paid approximately $232.00 for a new battery and 2 1/2 weeks later i was stranded again due to my car not starting in november, since then i've had this problem 8 times while attempting to leave my home. all of my major parts are operating correctly and nothing is draining my battery. can chrysler please attempt to identify what is causing this problem? it's unsafe and very inconvenient this unknown issue is expensive to constantly attempt to fix and the problem still occurs.
No start no crank. since taking my car to the dealerships to fix the recalls my car wont even go out of park unless the car is on and running.
Since september 2018 car would not start. had gone to the doctor and parked in the lot, when i came out my car would not start and i was stranded in the parking lot until dark after the clinic had closed. tried starting it multiple times and only got a ʻclickʻ then nothing. had to get towed home. iʻm a 59 y/o female with health issues. battery was new so i had the starter replaced thinking maybe that was the problem. my car still had the same problem. it would randomly start. so once i could get it started, i took it to my mechanic. he could not isolate the problem although it would still randomly start and recommended that i take it to the dealer. i did and the dealer said everything checked out fine but recommended that i have the starter replaced as well as the egr system and he quoted me over $1200. i canʻt afford that. i had already paid to have my battery tested at sears where i bought my diehard and had bought a new starter that my brother installed. instead, i took it back to my mechanic who replaced it with another started and egr system for $300 less. it only worked for a few days. i only get a click then nothing. today, i had the same problem. i travel 30 miles each way to get to work and this is frustrating. i tried the ʻbrake, on, neutralʻ and it didnʻt work. i finally got it to start this morning when i did the ʻbrake, on, move the gear shift side to side in the park positionʻ but when i got off work this afternoon, that didnʻt work. instead, i did the ʻbrake, on, neutral, parkʻ and it started right up. i donʻt know if it will work tomorrow though. is there a permanent resolution to this problem besides not buying another chrysler made vehicle and junking the one i have?
Takata recall i purchased this car & was told only needed to replace back tires.. i told the sakes guy i do not want to put any money in any cars, i told him i own a 2004 dodge intreprid se i bought brand new on 7/27/2004, last yr in end of sept it started to nickel & dime me. this car i bought from this guy said nothing wrong , i said this car looks like it's neen in a car accident, he said nothing wrong, said i will be 2nd owner & a clear title... wrong, i bought this car from a car lot on 2/16/2018, on 2/17/2018 had to buy 3 tires & found out the tie rod & ball joint were hanging by a thread, mechanic said the sales guy would have seen all this when he told me they moved the good tires to the front & put bad tires to back, i had to get new brakes front & back/ new battery, the airbags were missing & i almost got hit bc the transmission stalled on me, the history that i found out with this 2009 dodge journey sxt was already in a accident on 10/18/2017 bc the transmission stalled, i had to ha to put lots of $$$ into this vehicle that i did not want to do, to top that off, i had to call canada & they said they didn't have me as the new owner, i found out the cash i paid the guy had to pay off a leon that was on this car, then after he paid it, i received in the mail leon was paid off in full,the company that had a lein didn't know i bought this car & i had to call canada to give them updated info that i bought the car if &4,263 cash bc guy wouldn't take a check or money order/ nor cashiers check, the lemon law lawyer i called on 2/17/2018 i wouldn't be able to stop payment bc the sales guy lied to me & sold me a bad car, the car is in the repair shop since sept 12,2018bc of the transmission, manufacturing issue that i do not have anything to do with, my sister opened a gofundme me page to raise $$. i believe dodge should pay for this transmission..
For the millenth time since purchasing this car in 2014 it failed to start again!!! i have had ever mechanic under the sun check electrical connections, batteries, starters, alternators, fuses etc. they find nothing wrong but the car continues to simpley not start. i've read a lot of people have the same problem with this car. did anyone ever figure out why and what dodge is doing about it? sometimes it happens when my car is parked angled. sometimes on flat pavement. i got stuck with my newborn daughter shortly after i purchased the car and went back to depaula dealer i purchased it from in albany ny and they apologized and said they checked everything and nothing is wrong with the car. i'm scared to be stuck with my kids somewhere and honestly tired of sending it to the mechanic only to hear they can't find anything wrong. any ideas or directions to give the mechanic would be great. does dodge actually have the answer and just don't want to issue a recall. i don't care if i have to pay to get it fixed. i just want to know what needs to be fixed!!! thank you
I have a 2009 dodge journey, when the heat is on in the vehicle the passenger side blows cold air on one side of the vehicle i've been on the internet and hundreds of people are complaining, and the dealership are charging $600-$1200 to fix the problem, when this is a car defect, period.....

Just replaced battery. was working and starting fine after replacing for a few weeks. went to work yesterday morning and left for lunch with no issues. went to start car to return to work after lunch and wouldn't turn over at all. i would turn the key and get one click but not turning over. my radio, lights and windows all work when key is in the on position. charged the battery for nearly 40 minutes and still no start only a click. have also had on-going issues with wiring harnesses throughout vehicle.
After buying the car from the dealer we drove home and stopped to get gas. the car would not start. finally after locking and unlocking the doors it started. since then every day i drive it i continually have issues with it starting. once while driving down the road it shut off and stopped. almost caused an accident. now i can not even get it started. i have a baby and rhought this would be a perfect vechile. i can nit trust it for the safety of my child and myself. i can not be stranded in the arkansas heat with a vechile that repeatedly has issues with starting or keep running while driving. i have had it checked and no one xan find an issue with the car. very concerned with safety of car. very disappointed.
How can you take your car to a dodge dealer and still can't get help! why does my car read 37 codes? why is my abs tracking light on causing me not to switch gears? why is my airbag light on at all times? why does my back up camera not come on when needed? why haven't they recalled this piece of trash they call a car? i can't go anywhwer with out it not starting and needing a jump. i'm out of about 2000 and still no answers! why haven't i received any recalls?
This(2009 dodge journey sxt),it has many safety issues, i told the sales guy i do not want to put any money into a vehicle, bought it on 2/16/2018, got new rear tires on 2/17/2018, i was told car needs a ball joint/tie rod asap, now i was mad, i got hold of a lemon law lawyer to get my money back, he can't help me bc the car is a 2009, he gave me info to call & found out the car was in a car accident on 10/8/2017 passenger side, found out the car had safety issues that needed to be done, so car went into shop on 2/26/2018 & i got it back on 3/27/2018. i had to get a new battery/new brakes front/back/rotors/ball joint/ nut/snap ring/then car just quit on me while driving, freaked me out, then i had to have the starter replaced, on 8/26/2018, now car went back in shop on 9/12/2018 bc the transmission stalled on me & i almost got reared end, the meter machine says it needs the transmission control module needed to be reset, wrong, the problem is the transmission & been hearing all kinds of nasty things to do with the chyrsler dodge ignition/ transmission / starter, this car has cost me so much money that i was lied too.. safety issue is transmission i was told by 2 mechanics the transmission needs to be replaced bc the gear broke, nothing i did, transmission needs to be rebuilt or new one put in, i paid $4,263 plus now for everything else i was not planning on doing.. i been hearing bad stories about this car transmission/starter/ignition/electrical.. plz help me out here, i almost got killed bc car stopped on me while driving.. . i bought this car on 2/16/2018 , milage was (124,627) & it's been in the repair shop more than me driving, it's back in on 9/12/2018,, plz help, i have all my receipts, i believe dodge/chyrsler should compensate something bc this transmission should have just quit on me driving & told gear broke, not my fault,help plz
Not right,, transmission stopped on me driving, k & m dodge mechanic says it's not my fault that the transmission just stopped on me while driving, he said the 2 gear isn't there, this is 2 times now i almost got killed, to top that off i purchased this mused vehicle on 2/16/2018 & paid cash of $4,263.00 i asked if this car had any problems bc i do not want to put any money into it.. he told me & my parents only needed rear tires, i asked if it's neen in a car accident, he said no.. he said i will be the 2nd owner,, something isn't right, so i took it in on 2/17/2018 to get 2 new rear tires & omg, are you kidding me,, this car didn't have any airbags, electrical system was messed up, had to have a oil change on 2/22/2018, then it went in repair shop on 2/26/2018 for recall on airbags, then got it back on 3/26/2018, just for it to go back in on 4/1/2018 for a ball joint/tie rods/rotors/brakes front & back/ wheel alignment/new battery you got to be kidding me,, i am pissed as heck, found out i'm the 4th/5th owner,, it was in s car accident passenger side in oct 2017 car stalled on ppl, minor frame work, car is missing lots of parts, then i had to buy another tire front passenger side, key fob doesn't want to start car,,then i almost got hit driving bc ignition stopped on me driving,, then had starter replaced new on 8/26/2018 to top that off on aug 28 car stalls again, friend comes over with meter to check out car statistics & says car needs the transmission control modular reset so i can drive, so then try to drive car on sept 5th, won't move, so i have to get rides, then on sept 12th start up, try to drive it & the car stops, tried to drive it back to k & m dodge on sept 12th 2018,, it's been there since that day bc not drivable, needs a new transmission, i can't afford bc i am on disibility (social security disabilty), i called a lawyer on 2/17/2018
The car completely shut off going down the road and everything electrical went crazy and the horn wouldn't stop blaring. i couldn't pull over or anything because my steering and my brakes went out. the car finally turned back on by itself and now the window wipers, blinkers, and door locks do not work.

Sometimes while driving, my vehicle just shuts off for no reason. it shuts off while the vehicle is in motion. also sometimes when i turn the heater off the vehicle shuts off. it has happened once while in motion and once while stationary.
The pcm needs to be replaced. i don't know much about cars so i don't know what this means. the dealership did a diagnostic test and i was told i needed to replace the pcm.
Upon fulling up to a stop sign and applying the brake, my car shut off completely. i was able to restart it a drive a block or two before it did the same thing. i had the car towed to a mechanic and after looking for a problem for several days they were unable to find anything wrong with the car and it started and drove fine. several times within the past 6 months (jan-june 2018) i have tried to start my car and it will not start. sometimes moments later it will start, sometimes hours later it will start. upon searching online for possible problems, i found many who had the same issues (car shutting off while driving, and car not starting). it seems there was a recall to fix these very problems. the recall was regarding the ignition module. i recently purchased my car from another individual and i do not know if the recall was address initially. how can i find out. if my car was not fixed, how can i get the recall fixed now? if it was fixed, then the vehicle is still having the same problem and the "recall fix" did not actually fix the problem. i have been cautious driving it as i do not want the vehicle to turn off while i am driving, again nor do i want to be stranded again because it won't start.
No fuse warning light, won't start & interior lights don'y work.
The heater core in my 2009 dodge journey has been an issue for the last 4 years. it has been been replaced in 2014, flushed in 2015, flushed in 2016 and now needs replace again. this is 1300.00 to replace the core. this is definitely a design flaw and should be replaced by dodge at no cost to me. this is an ongoing issue with this year. i can not afford to put out that kind of money every year. this needs looked into. the passenger side had some heat but now has none. i always seems to breakdown when it is coming into the cold season. it is not fair that the consumer should have to continue to pay for dodge's design flaw. also, the brakes and rotors are another ongoing issue, they have been replaced numerous times at my cost. this is another ongoing issue with this particular car. all of the work that has been completed on my car are on my carfax.
For the last 3 weeks when it gets hot outside, usual over 90 degrees my car will not start after being parked for 10 minutes or a few hours. it will click but will not turn over. i took it to a mechanic and the mechanic determined that the battery may be going bad though it held a charge. i had the battery replaced that same day which was 5 days ago for $225.00. today the car did the same thing, it would click but not turn over. the vehicle had been parked for 15 minutes while i went into the hospital. a bystander said she thinks it was the battery based on the sound which i know it could not be as the battery was just replaced. i tried several times to start the car and it would not turn over. the temperature outside is 94 degrees. i looked online and saw there were several complaints in different forums from consumers with the exact same make and model. one commenter stated that if you press the brake then put the car in neutral the car should start and it would indicate that the neutral safety switch was the issue. i followed the suggestion and the car started. as i have looked through several different online forums i see this is a very common problem with this make and model however i do not see a recall issued.
The hatch door will not unlock with the key fob or from the door unlock button on the driver's door. it was sitting in a parking lot when i tried to unlock. i also tried several hours later after it had been sitting for at least 4 hours, and nothing will unlock the door.
Was driving down the highway (straight) my car made a loud noise and started smoking. we pulled over right way on the side of the road called a tow truck and waited two hours for the car to be picked up. when we got it to the shop by a tow truck the shop stated that the transfer case blew up. we were in oregon at the time.
Every four rotations of the ignition results in my vehicle being unable to start. i get 3 clicks with no start. the vehicle is stationary at the time of affect. i have been rendered stranded at doctor's offices due to this issue. dodge refuses to look at it or acknowledge there are issues. every time i have taken this vehicle to the dealership, they want $125 just to diagnose the issue.
My dodge journey has run great for a few years now it is having a hard time starting. i have already replaced the battery and several fuses with no luck. it also seems to loose power and have a loud tapping noise in the engine compartment when it is cold. i have taken in the car to my mechanic to get the tapping checked we change oil (even when it does not need it) and the noise will go a way. so in a summary, i ahve a no starting, phantom tapping noise dodge joirney.
I was driving about 50 mph and it shut down on me and i almost had the car behind me hitting me....this is the 3rd time it happen...and no one knows what wrong with it
Recall on ignition, still having same issue. dodge refuses to look at it. when starting the car, does the same thing prior to the pervious recall. tried several time to start car, then had to have car towed, once in driveway it starts.
The drivers side window button broke off. don't have a button now to roll up or down also the drivers seat will not go up or down. have to sit on pillows
Our journey has been in a shop, out of service for over 3 weeks. it stalls at low rpms and is difficult to start. we took it to one shop who couldn't figure out the problem and we then took it to a dodge dealership. the dealership couldn't figure out the problem either. we took it to a 3rd shop and they tried several fixes to no avail. they think it might be a torque converter now. if that fixes the problem we'll have spent over $2000 repairing the car and not being drivable for a month. if it doesn't fix the problem then i have an issue even manufacturer trained mechanics can't figure out.

Own a 2009 dodge journey. replaced the heater core 3 years ago. warranty for 1 year. new coil went up approx. 2 weeks after warranty. refused to warranty it. paid to have another heater coil installed. said it was warranted for 2 years. same problem happened last week. went and talked to dealer about warranty for this one. they said no, that it was out of warranty by 15 days. told me to call dodge good will department. they told me that i had to pay to have it checked first. that cost was about $80.00 and no guarantee that it would be covered even though it's an on going problem. an employee told me that they replace a lot of these heater coils. obviously there's a problem. checked on the internet about this problem and there's a lot of the same problems that i'm having, hot air on drivers side cold air on passengers side until it totally goes up. several mechanics on the internet stated that it's a flaw in its design. 2 main problems, first seems split second it plugs with sediment very easily. obviously very little heat when car is running.
No heat or defrost on passenger side of car. this car has now had 4 heater cores replaced since new. they only last around 16000 miles to 18000 miles i'm told that they get plugged in some manor. not sure why but after 4 times there seems to be a manufacturing issue with the dodge parts. and after doing some research this is not the only dodge auto that has this issue.
Suspension parts failing constantly, front tie rods, sway bars, struts, ball joints, bushings wear after 10,000 a 15,000 miles. as a result alignment is off and cause unusual wear on the tires resulting in rough uncomfortable ride. brakes get hot and wear/ squeak after 10k miles, sometimes sooner resulting in hub cap dust and paint chipping. rear tie rods go bad resulting in rear camber being offset and inside of tires wear real quick. right side door locks have to be manually locked/ unlocked. intermittent not starting problems, win module already replaced once due to recall. driver side window up and down buttons broke off. front dash rattles bad when taking off/ going over bumps. rear left side door hinge got loose resulting in spring popping off, now door won't stay open and closes by itself, that's the door that's least used.
I have been trying to get any dodge dealership to help me take care of recall ro3 and i continue to get the run around. i finally got one to make an appointment with and took the day off of work to get it resolved. after waiting for 3.5 hours i was told the "part wasn't in" even though i had scheduled the appointment weeks in advance and was told they had the parts. so again i have gotten the run around from dodge. i do not have confidence that this problem will ever be taken care of by dodge.
Back doors on both sides fill up with water when it rains or car is washed. you can hearn the water slosshing in rhe door when you swing the door.
I' got this car and the repairs never stopped coming. i've replaced the brakes & rotors 4 times in 3 years. i had to pay to have the car re-wired due to electrical problems & add a starter, replaced hoses. shocks and ball joints. this has to be the worst vehicle ever.
End of valve stem shot out of stem while trying to air up tire, end corroded and broke, replaced stem and sensor unit. seems that this is a serious problem with the metal types that are put on and installed at the factory on these models cars. even service station (firestone) said they have collection of bad stems on these vehicles. i got lucky that i noticed air pressure indicator light was on an took it to station to air up tire when i tried to put air in tire and end shot out like a rocket and then i lost all the air in my tire. what has to be done to have this issue taken care of by the manufacturer when these are obviously defective. does some one have to be driving down the road get in an accident because the stem blows out and they get a flat or blow a tire. my car was stationary at the tire pump at the time this happened, i called road side assistance to remove my tire but there was nothing they could do otherwise.

We called our local dodge dealer, university dodge of florence alabama and we were told that the safety recall that is required for our vehicle was not able to be ordered at this time, and might take upwards of 2 years to recieve the part to fix the recall. this is unacceptable to me and endangers our safety and our families safety.
We have had to every few weeks change either the rotors or the hub. ever since we got the car in january its been with the abs lights on constintly and squelling coming from the right passenger side only. it even will at times shake like its not going to brake at all.
There is a electrical malfunction in this vehicle fuses go out every couple of months, dual control heat right side does not heat, also when driving burning smell coming out of heat went, had several parts replaced. i contacted manufacturer regarding the issues, their reply was " we are sorry that you have issues but we cannot help you", purchased after market warranty and they refuse to cover the heat issue.
