This car have 131000 miles on it and gives code p0304 which says cylinder 4 misfire and p0729 gear 6 incorrect ratio which leads to 2 or 3 gear down shift from 6 gear at hwy speed around over 50 mph

I have had it happen several times, i'll be driving and the van just dies. everything shuts down the longest i believe it has lasted is 2 min then i'm able to shift into neutral and restart the van. it has happened while i was driving down my neighborhood street at 20 mph and it has happened on the highway at 70 mph. it has happened driving straight and it has happened mid turn. it happens approximately 3 times a week.

It cut off while driving

I was driving van trying to merge onto highway with my family when check engine came on and van just went limp as i merged we almost got hit from behind thankfully we didn't! this is a known problem with chrysler and dodge 3.6 engines i recently purchased a used 2012 dodge caravan rt i should have done research on it, also i tried to get emissions to pass inspection and i failed, there is this p06dd code that is affecting the van, i brand van to mechanic and over a week later new oil pump new oil filter housing adapter and over 1k in parts and labor and the problem still exist pertaining to that p06dd check engine code! that code puts engine in limp mode or safe mode, it make van very slow with out any power which is very dangerous trying to get onto highways when you van will not accelerate because of code! mechanic tried everything even with help from a chrysler technician, andy they can't get rid of that code p06dd like i said oil pump replaced oil filter housing replaced oil pressure switched replaced wires harness computer reflashed, i did research and i see plenty of dodge jeep and chrysler with 3.6 has this issue even vehicles that come out of the dealership brand new has this issue! in my case i'm 7grand into this used vehicle and i can't even register it because of this issue! i can't even sell it trade vehicle because i can't get it passed inspection nor drive the vehicle because it's just flat out dangerous, i don't wanna invest in new engine because i heard of nightmares where dodge replaced engine and even with new engine this code p06dd check engine light still exist? please help i have a family of 5 i can't afford of just loosing 7k i paid 5500 for van and about 1500 in repairs so far and van is still not working please can anyone help with this and investigate? thanks jason

Over the past 2 months our 2012 grand caravan has been having an unknown issue. we will be driving along normally then the power and engine will all cut out this has happened in multiple environments from crossing railway tracks to running down a smooth road, thankfully this has not happened yet on the highway, we are left coasting with no power steering or anything until we can safely stop put the van in park and restart the engine. the van restarts every time straight away with no problems. the other day before we took the van to the local dodge dealership for them to investigate the issue, the console stayed with no power but i was able to start the engine, the fan and radio also worked at this point, after driving 5 to 10 meters the dash console came up with all the gauges working again. it has now been to the dealership twice now and they are unable to replicate the issue or know of a cause. after reviewing forums it seems that other van's from various years are having the same issue. sometimes when it does it, it catches itself at the last second and the engine stays on and the console comes back up to normal though this is maybe a 1 in 5 occurrence. one of the times it happened we put our fixd in the care and the screenshot attached is what information it showed, the dealership only found 1 of these 4 fault codes.

My fuel pump kept running when the car was off and the key was out it was the tipm computer that was bad i bypassed the tipm when this was fixed at dodge now my battery light is coming on its a brand new battery and alternator and im being told its the tipm. it also was effecting acceleration it would ramp up rpm but speed would not change this issue occured while in motion driving on a freeway

We just bought a used 2012 dodge grand caravan with about 99,000 miles. when i drove it the next morning, i made a turn onto the road when it completely shut off. it alarmed me. i turned the key to the off position and then back on and it started up again. i didn't think much of it until today (2 days later) when my husband called me concerned that the car stopped on him as he was turning onto a different road. he had our 2 yr. old and 7 month old in the car, so that really concerned me for their safety.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. when the contact applied the brakes, the vehicle stalled. the contact shifted into park and restarted the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but a failure could not be found. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 115,000.

Van shuts off while driving - 3x in a fifteen minute span. loss of steering and ability to control the car. only 70k miles - extremely dangerous. must put the car in park to turn it back on. local mechanic cannot diagnose the problem because the diagnostic computer is not sent any kind of signal. battery has been tested 3x and found to be working normally. mechanic drove the car approximately 25 miles over 3 separate periods to repeat the engine failure and could not. says he cannot 'fix' a problem if it cannot be detected.

Dodge grand caravan 2012 stalled in motion while driving on an expressway at the 65 mph speed limit. the following morning i took it out on a country back road and again it stalled in motion while driving 55 mph speed limit. i was able to steer the car without power steering, and apply brakes but the spedometer, gas, and engine all died as i was driving it as if the car was turned off. i am doubtful the rear brake lights were working and am lucky no one was behind me. from looking it up i am told that this is an issue with dodge jeeps and vans related to the tipm module. if i was aware of this issue before buying the car, i might have reconsidered, it is seriously dangerous and someone could easily be killed if this happens while someone is driving behind you and the van just dies.

My wife was driving our van and turning into a busy intersection when suddenly the car shut down leaving her with no power brakes and no power steering and no way to accelerate to get out of harms way. this has happened to me as well in the same vehicle. when i try to start the vehicle sometimes the car does not start and i have to turn the key a few times before it will actually make a connection. i investigated online about this problem and it seems that this is not an uncommon problem with this vehicle. when i called dodge the technician told me that it's some kind of relay inside the ignition switch that is faulty so he admitted it himself i am asking that you investigate this before somebody gets hurt or killed. this is my family's primary mode of transportation and my children are always in this car. it is my worst nightmare to lose my family. and i would hate to lose my family over an engineering flaw that dodge does not want to acknowledge . i fear thatsomebody is going to get hurt or killed over this eventually. the technician at dodge told me that it typically cost around $800 to fix the problem because i would need two new keys and a new ignition so it's not like they don't know about this. there needs to be a recall on this ignition switch. if you research forums on the 2012 dodge grand caravan you will see that this is a huge safety problem and extremely common. please hold dodge accountable before someone gets hurt.

Saturday 15, 2018 my family and i were driving back from the mall, i was driving at about 55 miles an hour when the vehicle stalled and just died in the middle of the highway without any warnings or signals on the dash. i managed to use the momentum and pulled over to the shoulder, it restarted after 9 times try. thankfully we were able to make it home. a month before vehicle was parked in driveway and it wouldn't start, towed it to mechanic and replaced alternator. till now vehicle always stalls when slowing down or coming to stop. this vehicle acts like it have been taken over by supernatural forces and what happened last saturday was very scary to my family. i have read a lot of the same complaints on this site about this vehicle and it is very upsetting that the maker have not taken responsibility in addressing this safety issue. i wonder how many people will have to die first before they address this safety issue. let it be clear i will sue, god forbid any happen.

Engine requires key wiggling to start 9 times out of 10 no matter where or how its parked, randomly won't start or starts and shuts back off also with no positional correlation, and randomly shuts off while driving without warning or check engine lights, usually at lower rates of speed. battery drains and have had to replace it 3 times in as many years.

Starter relay in the totally integrated power module is bad preventing car from starting. car was stationary when this happened. engine oil pressure went bad resulting in a check engine light, vehicle was moving.

We own a dodge caravan that has some major engine problems that seem to be common for the 2012-2013 v6 penstar engine. the problem is in the engine head and valves. our van has collapsed cam lobes due to failing rocker arms. the symptom that revealed this problem was a misfire in the left cylinder head. the symptoms are very similar to the problems noted in tsb no. 09-002-14b including a misfire in the left cylinder head and a loud ticking noise coming from this area. chrysler has an extended warranty known as x56 that addresses the problem noted in tsb no. 09-002-14b. unfortunately, their warranty only covers the head replacement (which includes the valves and cams) if the head is cracked. while investigating multiple dodge/chrysler forums i have noted a large number of dodge owners experiencing the same problem that we have. in fact, i have learned that the problem is so pervasive that chrysler has an internal star case bulletin, s1309000016 related to the rocker arms and cam lobe problems. the engine check light came on while we were driving.

While in motion at low speed the engine suddenly stops running. the power steering seizes up & i have to manually steer to the side of the road.the check engine light comes on, when i restart the car. each time it has happened, fortunately no one has been behind me. the dealership that we purchased it from said that it was a cam shaft problem. after paying $1000+ in repairs to fix this problem, it still continues to happen.we have contacted the dealership and they told me that i needed an oil change. i brought it in for an oil change & it continues to shut down while driving. the dealer then told me that it is another cam shaft & they have no way of knowing which one. the check engine light no longer goes on & it does not store codes when this happens. several times we have contacted "chrysler customer cares" & they just take down our contact info, register our problem & do not follow up. this is a 2012 grand caravan with approx. 92k+ miles. we have not received a recall notice regarding this problem.

Bad ingnition module. van turns randomly off by it self while driving. if you push on the fob in the ingnition it will start to run again. when van turns off you lose control of the power steering and brakes making it difficult to come to a safe stop. same issues that dodge recalled other model years for but not the grand caravan. it has occured numerous times to us in this van.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. after recently purchasing the vehicle, the contact parked it in the garage overnight. upon moving the vehicle out of the garage, the contact noticed that engine oil leaked out onto the garage floor. upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware of three areas on the oil pan that were rusted and had holes, which allowed engine oil to leak from the oil pan. the contact was concerned that the oil leak could cause a fire and injuries to the vehicle occupants. an unknown dealer was contacted and informed the contact that there was no recall or warranty for the oil pan on the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 146,000. *tt

The van cut off while driving. eeverytime, i tried to start it, the instrument panel said "no fuse." i had it looked at by a mechanic and he said that my alternator and battery were dead. after they were replaced, the car started up and i drove it to work. on the way to work, while the car was driving, all of the lights in the car went out and the instrument panel reset itself (date, time, and trip computer) after about 5 seconds. this repeated itself every 15 minutes or so, until the car cut off. i refastened the battery connectors, got the car a jump, and it started to run. i parked the car. later, i got in and started it with no problem. the next day, i went to start the car and it wouldnt start. i got a jump and it started up again. driving into work, the car cut off while i was driving on the street. i had to steer to the side of the road to get to safety. the worst thing about it all, is that when the electrical system fails, the key gets stuck in the ignition, and you can not shift into neutral if you need to push the car off the road. i have read multiple reviews about this car's electrical system, but it is a danger to everyone on the road for a car to consistently have electrical problems, especially ones that cause it to cut off while driving. this needed to be addressed before anyone gets hurt.

2012 dodge grand caravan stalled when driving and i lost the steering.this can be live threatening!! no codes come up when trying to diagnose the issue. mechanic tried to duplicate the stalling issue by driving it for a week. not able to duplicate the issue. looking at forums this seems to be an ongoing issue. hopefully nobody will die from a stalling engine that looses steering. when put in park it turns back on with no issues. this has happened to me now for the third time. again, this needs to be looked at before someone dies!!!!

More then a dozen times our vehicle has completely shut off while in motion going straight at various speeds causing loss of power steering and putting us in unsafe conditions. the a/c will blow hot air in half the vehicle and the radio has turned up the volume to full and the controls are inoperative to turn it down. i feel the dealer intentionally did not tell us about the known tipm issue and told us we had to replace the alternator which we did with no help in correcting the issue. this has been ongoing for a few months. i dont have the vehicle with me and am guessing on the mileage also this happened on multiple dates so i entered one of the random dated below.

When we fist got the van we experienced some issues with the brakes. the dealership was supposed to take care of it but the problem persisted and we went to a recommended mechanic. then the following months we had some issues with the motor mounts. once again we had to replace them and then we had some problems with the electronic computer and we had to re-learn some of the already installed programs. i would like for whoever approves the recalls to go ahead and approve the other issues because for it being a six year old car it definitely has more issues than it should.

I send my vehicle to freehold dodge dealer after many days the dealer didn't do anything because my vehicle under warranty and the corporate doesn't pay well to the dealer i don't know where i can file complain

My engine keeps misfiring all the cylinders and i have changed multiple cylinders. while the vehicle was in motion the lights on the inside illuminated and the vehicle stopped in traffic. the engine light came on and i took it to get the codes read and it said p301, p302, p303, p304. i have got this fixed multiple times because it keeps happening.

When the vehicle is in drive but is stationary, everything will turn off. the electrical system goes down and the engine shuts off. after a brief moment (approximately one to two seconds), the electrical system will come back up and all electronic components come back on, but the clock on the radio is reset to 12:00. at this point, we can put the vehicle in park and restart it. this has occurred several times in the past several weeks. the most recent occurrence was 2017.07.07 and it did it twice within fifteen minutes. we do not know for sure what is causing this to occur, but it seems to be connected to the main computer and/or the anti-theft system, as this is a complete system shutdown.

Three different times, i took my 2012 dodge gran caravan to have the engine check because it stalls out. this happens at any speed. every time all check out ok per the dodge repair center. twice the check engine light was on at the time of the engine stalling. twice no indication. engine just quit. it happened again last night (08/30/2017) when my wife was coming home on the interstate. she was in traffic and the engine just quit. big safety issue. thank god that she was not in an accident. some thing is wrong with my gran caravan. this problem started early this year (2017). first time to a dodge facility was on 05/23/17, next on 06/05/17 and on 07/07/17.

The temperature gauge on my van would fluctuate between normal and hot while driving anywhere and at any speed. the courtesy dodge dealer in conyers, ga said there was no problem with the cooling system, just some air that needed to be removed. a few days later the same problem occurred. this time the dealer said it was a bad head gasket on the right side of the engine. i had to have both left and right side head gaskets replaced at an independent auto repair shop for $1500!. the mechanic said he sees this trouble all the time with the 3.6l pentastar engine i have. he said there should be a recall on the problem. there are only 111,000 miles on the engine and its only five years old!

Car shuts off while driving everything goes off lights radio engine steering wheel locks it's happened several times very scary. *tr

The vehicle just stalls while driving. this was the case yesterday and today. i have to put it back on park in order to re-start the engine. the latest instances are not the first time we experienced this problem. my wife reported it at least a couple of times. the dealership once told me that was probably caused by the weight of the key ring and with other things attached to it. since then, i make sure to drive with only the dodge key on the ignition, taking down all everything else from the key ring. *tr

My 2012 dodge grand caravan showed a check engine light at 67,000. i checked the code to fnd out p0303 is a engine misfire. could be ignition, plug, or valve-cylinder compression. i had the engine serviced and the light goes out. the next day the light comes back on. i return the vehicle for service to investigate the check engine light. further investigation reveals there is a bad compression on cylinder 03. i take the vehicle to dodge and they could have told me up front that the right cylinder head is not covered under the extended warranty from chrysler. they take my car into service and find a leak on cylinder 04 also. they gong to replace the left cylinder head but not the right cylinder head with the same identical problem. i am looking at $3500.00 if i choose to replace the right cylinder head. this extended warranty should cover the defect no matter which cylinder head is defected. my wife loves the car. she wants another one. i told her that because of this issue we would be right back here in 4 years with another 3.6l v6 pentastar engine. i am torn. do i trade the issue back to dodge and get a 4.0l v6 pentstar. i have almost paid it off. this sux great times flushed down the drain because of a engine defect. i love it but i have leave it. toyota here i come.

I have continuous problems out of this vehicle, sensors, and the vehicle down shifts regular on a strait way, and up slight hills, loses speed ,extreme loss of fuel mileage

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while driving at low speeds the vehicle caught fire. the contact was not injured. a police report was filed. the vehicle was not towed to a local dealer. the contact called 911 when the vehicle burst into flames. the battery was disconnected on the scene. the vehicle was taken to a local body shop the following day, but was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 82,000. updated 05/10/17*lj car was taken to a service shop and the mechanic was convinced there was direct correlation between the recall and door fire. updated 9/5/18*jb

My daughter made an attempt to start the vehicle, one night after community theater rehearsal, to drive home and found the vehicle would not start and she heard random relays chattering throughout the vehicle, had the windshield wipers move, the instrument panel lights flickered on/off along with displaying error codes of: "no fuse" and "no bus". the fuel pump could be heard running, even with the key off and she said the van acted like it was possessed. based on online information, i replaced the crankshaft position sensor, which was listed as a top culprit in the problem and that solved nothing. further research indicated the tipm unit is most likely the cause and we found that her make/model of vehicle is part of a lawsuit for this problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge grand caravan. while driving 35 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the temperature gauge showed that the vehicle was very hot. in addition, the electronic throttle control indicator illuminated. after pulling the vehicle over to the side of the road and allowing it to cool down, the contact checked the coolant and noticed a sludge like substance instead of coolant. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 119,000.
