When the ignition switch is turned the car will not start. i have to turn the key over 15 times in order for the van to catch and start, the problem is becoming more frequent. also, when the dvd player is in the up position all of the warning lights come on in the dash the windshield wipers cut on and none of the dials work on the speed, gas and thermostat indicators. the dvd problems occur when the vehicle is parked and on the road operating. the ignition problem is when you go to start the vehicle.
Sliding doors have had numerous issues that cause the doors to lock up and fail. i have had 3 issues in under 5 years with both sliding doors locking up and failing requiring electrical work to be done to correct the problem. my vehicle has just about 50k miles and has had 3 failures with the door latches not opening. this issue needs to be looked at as a severe issue in cases of safety because both my doors do not open and this vehicle is gently used for a 10 year old vehicle. another issue with the sliding door is the harnesses that are installed from the factory. they fail and the wiring breaks over 1 to 2 years. this is an issue that happens way to often.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge grand caravan. after the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags), it hesitated to start and all the electrical functions failed. it took numerous attempts to start the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. goldy chrysler dodge jeep ram (187 kinetic dr, huntington, wv 25701, (304) 781-0555) performed the recall repair, but the failure recurred. the vehicle had not been repaired a second time. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 128,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge grand caravan. while driving 30 mph, the contact smelled an abnormal odor and noticed smoke coming from the automatic window buttons. the contact stated that the driver's door caught on fire and was extinguished by the fire department. neither a fire nor a police report was filed. the fire department indicated that it was an electrical fire. there were no injuries. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge grand caravan. while driving 55 mph, the windshield wipers functioned independently and all the warning indicators started to flicker on the instrument panel. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 175,000.
This vehicle has had several electrical component failures that were premature and unexplained. computer module replaced twice, sensors replaced before they should have gone bad. we also were experiencing small electrical issues all over the vehicle, problems with windows, slide doors, accessories, radio etc. after inspection of the electrical system a problem was observed with two of the main wiring harnesses for engine components, one was routed over the top of the radiator hose where it attaches to the top of the motor allowing excessive heat to melt the wire protection sleeves and wire coating which caused contact of wires exposed. another section of wiring routed down from the main fuse box and rested on top of the transmission cover resulting in overheating of the wires. these two issues caused excessive heating of the wiring to effect the current flow to and from the main wire port for all electrical components of the vehicle and resulted in system malfunctions everywhere. this is a poor design by the manufacturer and a serious safety concern. i would want anyone with the same vehicle to know this is probably the result of numerous electrical component failures or problems they are experiencing that may lead to excessive repairs that are not necessary if the wiring is routed in a better way to avoid overheating.

Instrumental cluster lights turn on, all dial indicators go to 0, wipers turn twice, outside lights turn on and then off, and warning beeps inside. can repeat different frequency time, but usually every few seconds. some warning lights remain on, especially brake warnings and airbag. 2 dealers reviewed and recognized issue but stated did not know what to do. rarely, after start-up only brake light and airbag warnings stay on and no other light issue. first dealer replaced instrument cluster and improved by no left dial issue, but warning lights still occur. all warning lights, center dial, and right dial, lights, and wiper issues still occur. dealer checked and noted programming issue but informed nothing can do. now occurs more often. all brake warning lights now always show after beginning to drive. then all other warning lights, and so on, begin as noted. recorded and attached. frequency has increased. if i turn outside lights on, lights will not turn off when issue occurs but turn signal still stops when i have them on. other drivers then do not know if i am turning. airbag, brake, fuel lights, wipers, and outside lights worry me since everything shows warning or stops while driving, as frequent as every few seconds during entire drive. is one of the issues real or are they all pretend due to the vehicle issue? occurs all speeds, temperatures, and so on.

Returning home from vacation while exiting interstate to merge with oncoming traffic at approx 60/65 mph i tapped the brake to disengage the cruise control and the vehicle to accelerate rapidly. i applied the brakes with all my force but it continued to accelerate. i was finally able to get it to the side of the road put it into park and shut the engine off., in a few minutes i restarted the motor and the car seemed ok. we drove a short way and stopped at a hotel for the night. the next morning as we started home the vents suddenly began to blow out very hot air . neither the heat, air or fans were on. after pushing the hvac buttons no ne of which were lighted the air suddenly stopped. i turned the air back on in a few minutes and everything worked. we drove to our dealer hendersonville cdrj and got an appt for this fri morning. the man didn't seem to have any idea of the problem. on our way home the horn started to beep intermittently for a few seconds at a time. we have not driven since then and will not until we take it back to the dealer on friday.xwe are a retired senior couple, my husband is disabled and this van is our only vehicle and it is frightening to have been placed in such a very dangerous situation. hopefully the dealer will be able to identify and correct this problem.

There is a recall on my vehicle l 25 for the fobik. my i made an appointment for the repair as soon as i received the notification and to date have still not been contacted for a repair. my car completely shut down on atlantas interstate 285 in the middle of rush hour. i need action immediately or i am taking another route on getting this solved...i.e. legal.
While driving the wipers, headlights, and dashboard started operating crazy. it would occur every 30 seconds and would not stop. the only solution (temporary) was to remove the fuse associated with the driver side door. this caused the craziness to stop, but now i lost all ability to operate any functions on the driver side door. the fuse was tested and it is working just fine. while this was not an immediate danger, it was still scary having this happen to me while driving with my young children in the car. we are unable to discover a permanent solution. after review, it appears we are diffidently not alone. please figure this out!

Had my 2009 dodge caravan's recalls repaired finally when parts were available in july 2015. had the van tuned up and drove to florida with the false sense of security that the van would not stall while driving. my whole family made it to florida, but then the van stalled 3 times while driving at low speeds again! we were so afraid we would be stuck. i did not do it any more while on vacation and then did drive home safely. we had our children in the van and was very afraid that this could happen on the freeway. it is now november and the van continues to lose complete power while driving at least 2 times a week. it has happened at low speeds in the city. my children are afraid to ride in the van. i contacted chrysler/dodge who stated since i had the recalls repaired it is my responsibility to find out what is wrong with the van. this is crazy, dodge knows what the problem might have been and their repairs did not resolve the problem.this van was bought brand new and had had starting and stalling problems for a very long time. how can i get this resolved without out of pocket expenses, knowing this is known problem by dodge. this is not safe to drive. we are not rich and cannot just go buy another van. this is a dangerous situation for my family.
