Received "safety recall l01" to replace the occupant restraint controller module (orc). the l01 recall was performed at dodge dealership in daytona auto mall, daytona beach florida where the vehicle was originally purchased. according to the procedure to replace the orc, the electronic stability dynamic sensor (esp) had to be removed and re-installed as part of the replacement for the orc. vehicle was picked up and driven home that day. the next day the vehicle was started and the esp, bake assist sensor (bas), and traction control sensor lights appeared on the dash. returned vehicle to dodge dealer to verify that this was not caused by the recall procedure. dodge dealer checked abs codes and said the steering angle control /clock spring sensor was defective, and would cost $500 plus to fix. all these components are connected to the abs system. i just cannot believe that one day after the l01 recall was done, that another component of the abs system failed. *tr
While driving to the market my wife experienced a sudden shudder in the steering/brakes pulling the vehicle out of the driving lane towards the shoulder. she brought the vehicle to a stop of the shoulder. she noticed the esp/bas warning light and the slippery road/traction control warning light had both activated on the dash/instrument panel. we brought the vehicle to the dealer who informed us the steering angle/clockspring sensor which activates the drivers airbag had failed and needs replacement. according to the dealer the item is not covered under warranty and repair would cost a total of $508. dodge recalled caravans 1996-2000 for a similar issue. we have already had to replace all the brakes, for what was termed premature whereout, at approx 22,000 miles. we had to replace the electronic keys which both crumbled after the 3rd year. what's next???? any help in this situation would be much appreciated. *tr

My 2008 dodge grand caravan has the 'check airbag' light on after only 60,000 miles. from searching online, dodge has recalled this exact problem (spring in steering column) previously. i feel that there is still a defect in their manufacturing and this should be covered under recall. i've never heard anyone saying that had airbag problems with a vehicle except dodge!!!! this is the 3rd major problem with this new vehicle and i'm afraid to keep putting money into what could turn out to be a lemon! *tr

2008 dodge grand caravan se airbag light stays on took it to dodge service dealer and they seed it was the airbag computer and the price was $375.00 plus $400.00 to remove the center console and replace it. its only 2years old and has 45,000 miles so their warranty does not cover it because their warranty is only 36,000 miles so they said that if i am in a accident the airbags wont deployed unless i have them changing the "airbag computer for $775.00 plus tax and extras that might com up i think thats b.s. giving that its only 2 years old...this grand caravan hase bin nothing but problems... *tr
We had problems with the car not wanting to start after being turned off and turning itself off while driving the van. the dash area where the stereo, clock, dvd player and etc. turns its self off. the rear doors do not power operate. the air bag lite is on all the time.the rear window wash button washes the front window. we had this vehicle in the shop a lot they could not find the problem. we bought this van because we have small grandchildren ride with us all the time but with all the problems i would not buy or recommend this vehicle to anyone.
I was going on a highway at approximately 50 mph and a truck pulled out in front of me. i had about 2 seconds to hit my brakes and hit the van head on into the side of his truck. none of my airbags deployed and the front passenger seat belt didn't lock down. my teenage daughter almost hit her head on the dash. the towtruck driver and others have said that my airbags should have deployed. it is very disturbing to know they didn't. i am very disappointed in this van. *tr
While pulling into a parking space in a strip mall, my drivers side steering wheel air bag deployed. there was no contact of any kind with another vehicle or object on the pavement. my right arm was injured with lacerations and contusions, although not serious enough to see a doctor. the next day, i took it into the dodge dealer for what i thought would be a warranty repair. the service manager said it looked to him like it had a front impact. i couldn't see any damage or indication of an impact , but he was quite sure and suggested i call my insurance company. the insurance adjuster said there had been a front impact. i have not had an impact of any kind since i purchased the vehicle approx. 6 months ago. i, of course, can not say it was never hit while parked in a parking lot. i can say the vehicle was not left unattended in a parking lot for 48 hours before the air bag deployed. i am concerned that an air bag can deploy, without warning, several hours, days, or weeks after the impact. if i had been traveling on the interstate highway when the bag deployed there could easily have been fatalities. by the way, the dodge dealer checked the computer controller and says there is absolutely nothing on it. i have ordered a new air bag and controller. *tr
I am writing about what i feel was a severe airbag malfunction. i was in a crash that was high enough impact to total my rental vehicle...smash the front windshield, and turn the front end of the vehicle into an accordion; moreover, the accident could have ended my life. i escaped with torn muscles in my shoulders, hairline cracks in my front teeth and a broken collar bone. as the driver, i am highly suspicious about the airbags not deploying in such a high impact incident. the incident occurred when a motorist ran a redlight and ran into the front drivers side of my vehicle. where all the other motorist in the accident had airbags deploy, the police and emergency crews were amazed that the vehicle did not respond differently in the accident.*tr
