TAIL LIGHTS 3

Recently reported EXTERIOR LIGHTING problems on 2014 Dodge Durango

Water pooling inside the led tail light housing. light has already been replaced under warranty once and now the replacement light has the same issue. internet show this is a wide spread issue with 2014+ durangos but no recall or action from dodge.

Portion of brake light (known as race track lighting) that is located on rear hatch portion of vehicle has been infiltrated by water due to faulty gasket material and rendered portion of light inoperable. entire assembly must be replaced at a cost of $1100 at dealer. have mopar maxcare warranty and will not be covered. also spoke to dodge customer care and they could not open a case on it due to the age/mieage on the vehicle. this has been a reoccurring issue on 2014+ dodge durango's as well as other models that use this racetrack lighting. to reiterate, the light is not damaged on the exterior in any way, was not modified by anyone in any way.....it is an inherent flaw in the design of he lighting and gasket used to keep it water proof that caused this failure.

Water in tail light causing lights to not work

My lift gate lamp assembly is retaining water which is causing electrical shorts in my tail lights. this is safety hazard in the state of hawaii which caused me to fail my safety inspection and i cannot register my car.

Continued and persistent water infiltration into rear 'racetrack' tail lamp assembly. occurs during all situations, whether stationary or driving. water can be drained by removing lamp mounting bolts, but damage to internal lamp has already been done and this does nothing to prevent reoccurrence.

A section of the lift-gate racing lights is out. it is a sealed unit so you have to purchase the entire racing light assembly. it is extremely expensive, approximately $1200 just for the assembly itself. after some investigation it appears this is a common problem with dodge durango's. water enters the sealed unit (apparently because it is not sealed properly) and causes the led light to burn out. given the common occurrence of this issue dodge should issue a recall to fix this problem.

Rear led litigate light collects water inside unit and burns out the led. this the third time it had happened. light was replaced twice already.

Tail light has gotten water inside twice from rain can't keep fixing this issue

Rear taillight led bar went out after water entered the light bar through small openings and defective weather stripping. the lights on the durango are not sealed good enough to prevent water from entering. the light and the rear camera stopped working for the same reason. this is a defect that originated during production and can cause an accident. the consumer should not be responsible for replacing these parts every couple months because of water damage

Water in the tail light ( track light/ led). just replaced 8 months ago by dealership. on drivers side lower led has a cup of water from the rain. this is the second time. first time, turned dark and light went out after buying 2 months later. 3/15/19

Center tailgate (race track) tail light gets water in it every time it rains or snow melts regardless if stationary or driving. this is the 3rd time it has happened and the light is now shorted out (visibly burnt) and the vehicle smells like burnt plastic. replaced june 2016, dec 2017 and now needs to be replaced dec 2019.

Water is/has pooled in the rear tail lamp mounted on the lift gate, causing the led's to not work correctly and short out on the passenger side. i am not alone by my research on dodge durango forums. this appears to be a universal problem with most owners whose led's are also shorted out. i am wondering why there has not been a recall, or, if there is, i would appreciate a replacement at no cost to me. the whole assembly needs to be replaced, as these are not repairable. i did not place water in this sealed unit, so how did so many of us get water in there? would appreciate and explanation of why i should have to pay over $1,000.00 for a factory defect? any reply would greatly be helpful.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge durango. while the contact was standing by the vehicle, one of the tail lights cracked in a vertical line. the vehicle was taken to merrick dodge chrysler jeep of wantagh (516-868-4400, located at 3614 sunrise hwy, ste b, wantagh, ny 11793) where it was stated that the failure was not covered by the extended warranty. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall and that it was not a known failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

Burned out portion of race track lighting on rear of vehicle.

I have had issues with the rear lighting on my 2014 dodge durango limited allowing water to leak inside of the lights. the rear racetrack tail light has gotten water inside of it causing some of the led lights to stop working. one of the license plate lights has also gotten water inside of it which has caused it to stop working. from some research this looks to be an ongoing issue that customers are having with 2014 and newer dodge durango vehicles. this is a safety concern that may cause even further damage to the vehicle's electrical system and lights that are needed for safety reasons.

When it rains, water collects inside the racetrack tail lights of my 2014 durango. the problem exist on the rear of the part. the sponge-like gasket is disintegrating. i got it replaced at the dealer for 1,000 $ about 4 months ago, i got water again in the new ones. the led's are not working anymore when i turn on the lights on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge durango. the contact stated that the exterior led lights and reverse lights seized without warning for approximately three months. the contact looked inside the light fixtures and found water. the contact replaced the exterior lighting himself, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 91,000.

The racetrak lift gate housing has accumulated water and caused brake lights to malfunction.

Due to water intrusion, my lower left corner led of the "racetrack" tail lamp has prematurely burned out.

Rear racetrack lighting leaks and led's are burned out

Because of condensation/standing water in the back racetrack light, the light is now burnt out and dodge is quoting me $1,100 to fix this issue. it is not covered under any warranty and there is not yet a recall. i contacted dodge regarding this safety issue and they have offered no resolution or suggestion to help. this is a wide spread issue affecting models year 2010 to present. i am honestly wondering how this has no been addressed yet. when i questioned whether the issue is being fixed on newer models, i got a very generic answer.

Rear raceway taillight has partially gone out. from what i've gathered, this is a common problem with this vehicle due to an engineering design flaw. water is allowed to penetrate, shorting out raceway light, decreasing visibility from the rear, particularly in adverse and low visibility conditions. this manufacturer flaw should be addressed, corrected and replaced by manufacturer as it is a safety issue.

Racetrack tail lights is not correctly sealed and water is coming inside, due to this the tail light had a shortcut and the dealership says the i have to replace the whole tail light and the rear camera, this is the second time i see water inside the racetrack

Rear 'racetrack' lights has water in it, and a section of it has already faded out. took to the dealer and of course not covered by my 'bumper to bumper' and the cost is $1300. i'm so irritated!

2014 dodge durango tail light assembly not properly sealed when manufactured and allows water to enter and ruin circuit board for led tail lights. i have electrical engineering degree and this is not a bulb burned out. the leds circuit board is what's damaged not the leds. dealers say warranty does not cover bulbs. but this is a whole tail light assembly that was not sealed right from the factory. it cost $1100 to replace . this is a defect not normal wear and tear. there are literally thousands of people online with same issue.

Ractrack light stop working rear tail light "racetrack light" burnout thanks to a water leek in to the light this is a manufactor defect the price to replace this light is more then $1,000 dollars

Water in my 14 dodge durango race track tail light

Rain water gets into rear tail lights and causes short in tail light. light burns out and needs premature replacement due to leak from water. due to safety issue with lights being burn out while driving in rainy conditions, especially at night, is a large safety issue which can result in accident. i do not want to be rear ended due to this safety issue, especially with my 1 year old daughter and wife in the vehicle..

The center brake light on the rear hatch leaks water into the light assembly and causes damage to the led lights, which causes some of them to stop working.

There is water in the rear tail light race rack. must be a seal issue since the is no damage to the tail lights. hopefully the lights don't go out before it is fixed.

Rear race track light water inside and led light out. can not get sticker. moisture in license plate light have had to replace three times. can not get sticker.

The design of the 'racetrack' style taillight assembly allows water and water condensation to accumulate within the assembly. this has been replaced under parts warranty for my vehicle 3 times. if these taillights are not warrantied the cost to replace is prohibitive, resulting in many vehicles with reduced rear light visibility.

Water leaked in and accumulated inside the rear "racetrack" led taillight assembly, causing failure to led lights on the driver side of the assembly. the design of this assembly is clearly flawed due to thousands of reports of this happening. dodge quoted my $1100 for the replacement part. absolutely ridiculous.

There is water pooling in my back taillight bar. this has made the taillight bar go out.

Water continues to leak and pool inside the tail light and has caused some of the led bulbs to go out.

Add mine to the many complaints about water getting into the tail lights that are in the hatch. also known as race track tail light. there is a bug inside as well so the gap in this "sealed" unit must be huge. you can see the mosquito in img_6163.jpg. also have trouble with water getting in the drivers side headlight about a year ago. i purchased this vehicle new and it has never been in an accident. this is an obvious safety issue when the water starts clouding the lens and/or starts shorting out the bulbs. these issues are not covered by the lifetime maxcare warranty. i tried uploading 4 photos. hopefeully you got them all

Water pooling in the lower section of taillight also condensation in the upper part of the taillight

The rear racetrack lights keep taking on water! if i recall water and electricity don't mix! this was one of the selling features that caught my eye to buy this vehicle. but apparently this is a big problem with these lights and an expensive fix if it burns out. the tail light is fused with the plate light. so if the fuse blows you have no plate light which in my state is illegal. if the lights are out, there really isn't much illumination in the rear. i could easily get rear ended at night or cloudy out.

Left side of racetrack light is pooling water. vehicle has 58,900 miles.

The racetrack tail light will fill with water during a rain storm causing the rear running light to go out. this could pose a serious safety issue if the running lights go out at night. i started noticing this problem on or around 4/12019 and has progressively gotten worse. doing research has lead me to several posts on the internet with others having this same issue. here is just one of the many link talking about this problem. https://www.dodgedurango.net/forums/durango-discussions-2014/42937-poll-water-tail-light-2014-a-26.html

Rear lighting will accumulate moisture inside housing eventually burning out led elements. this results in drivers being unable to see vehicle from the rear as well as citations for nonfunctioning equipment.

Led light on one side of the lift gate is out possibly due to water inside of the tail light need answers. looks like there are many complaints about this problem.

Rain/road way water gets into exterior racetrack tail light causing shortage resulting in the light starting to go out. this is a manufacturer issue. the cost of repairing is over $1000.

First issue is back racetrack lenses is full of water causing bulbs to blow out.secondly, and most scarey was driving at 50 mph and car starts making loud noises on dash(that alone scarey enough to create a crash)but the looses power and barely can steer vehicle to side of rt.27,then started back up.i am a single mom of 2 boys,(one which i rely on this vehicle to transport to many doctor appointments.)last thing i need is a horrible accident.please listen to all these complaints as if it were your family and try to address the safety of your consumers.

Water is getting into the rear tail light mid section that goes all the way across the rear hatch causing the lights to burn out.

Takata recall standing water and bugs are inside my rear light bar on my truck. from rain water and now my light on the driver side in the rear is out.

Led lighting bar on tailgate showed signs of moisture, and then lights went out completely, including the license plate lights. vehicle was stationary, watched lights flicker, then go out when car was auto started.

I'm having issues with my trunk led lights. it's not working properly water leaks inside the light and it's cause the light to go out. i researched the problem and it seems like a lot of people are having the same exact is

It has been raining and the lighting system housing unit has filled with water. i had not used the vehicle in several days. i noticed it in a parking lot.

Rear race track lighting has water accumulating in the tail light assembly causing the entire light bar to short out. this has caused the license plate lights to stop working as well which are required by state law. estimate to replace by dealer is $1600
