Stalls out in the middle of the road while driving turn it back on sometimes it comes on sometimes you have to keep trying to get it to start! also stalls out on the freeway while driving
Engine produces ticking sound from driver side engine head. suspected issue is rocker arm or lifter. ticking sound occurs at idle all the way through rev range, but seems to dissipate at highway speeds under load. if not fixed vehicle engine will expire.
Tl* the contact owned a 2013 dodge durango. while driving 20 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor. the contact continued to drive and was chased down by another motorist who informed her that flames were underneath the vehicle. the contact quickly stopped the vehicle and she and the passenger exited safely. the contact noticed fire underneath the vehicle. the fire department extinguished the fire. both police and fire reports were filed. the vehicle was towed to a tow lot. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was destroyed. the failure mileage was 70,000.
I was driving and braking for a stop sign and the vehicle started to jolt. i pulled in to the garage and the vehicle shut off on its own. i went to restart it and it would turn over but would not start. i tried again later that night, and it started again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. the contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to russell westbrook chrysler dodge jeep ram of van nuys (located at 6110 van nuys blvd, van nuys, ca 91401, 818-868-5777) where it was diagnosed that the exhaust valve was not placed properly on the head and the head needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and contacted the dealer; however, the final decision was that the repair was the contact's obligation. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The vehicle has shut off while driving a few times. had to start it back up. once, it shut off then turned right back on. no lights on, warnings nothing.
Im here in alabama from ga, car system lights up like a christmas tree completely shutdown in the middle of a busy intersection while driving trying to make a left turn on government blvd in mobile, al.
Radiator and ac condenser both bad both leaking both needed replaced
I had the recall done in 2015 for the fuel pump relay. i was driving my vehicle when it died and now i am being told the fuel pump relay is out and needs to be replaced. i spoke with the 800 number for dodge who refused to cover the replacement because i had it done already. this is something that shuts the vehicle down even if you are driving. i was driving my vehicle and it shut down as soon i came into my neighborhood. it had to be towed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure also occurred while driving between 10-50 mph. on several occasions, multiple attempts were made to restart the vehicle. on one occasion, the vehicle restarted independently. the vehicle was taken to executive jeep (located at 900 universal dr n, north haven, ct 06473, (203) 239-5213) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure was intermittent. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
Camshaft and lifters on chrysler 5.7l hemi engines need replacement. i have a 2013 dodge durango with the 5.7l hemi engine. i have the oil changed regularly at 4000 miles. with 91,000 miles on the engine, the engine reported a miss fire on cylinder 5. had the vehicle checked at the local dodge dealership, and they stated that the problem is with the cam and lifters. this sounds like a very common problem with these engines. the dodge mechanic told me he was working on three other 5.7l hemi engines that have the same problem. if you look on line, this is a major issue with other owners of vehicles that have the 5.7l engine.
Rocker arms ticking sound and engine failure
While driving my car is continuously shutting off. i lose power steering and need to put the vehicle in park and restart it. the first time i was coasting at 45 mph the car display controls when off and turned back on. the second time i was turning into a parking stall and the car died mid park at which point i had to manually restart. the most recent time i was driving my kids to school and the car died while going 35 i had to pull over to the shoulder (with no power steering) and restart the engine. the music and headlights remained on while the engine was off. the car starts right up without hesitation and the local dodge delearship is not finding a code to properly detect the problem their best guess is to replace the tipm in hopes it will fix the problem. i need a safe reliable car and not one that is as risk of dying mid drive and causing an accident hurting my family or others.
I was driving in some pretty hard rain going about 60mph. i slowed the car down to about 40 and when attempting to accelerate again the car would not accelerate. the vehicle then seemed to stall and lose both breaks and steering. i was on a hill so it was very scary. i was able to pump the emergency break and get the vehicle to stop. something is wrong with this vehicle causing it to not accelerate, then lose power and breaks. i was reading an issue with the alternator may be the case but i am not sure how that would cause loss of breaks. also my dealership states they already fixed the alternator recall on this vehicle.
My durango suddenly lost all power twice while driving between 35-55 mph. once heading to a stop sign and once on the far left side of highway. i have had to quickly pull over to the side of the road, i attempted numerous times to restart it. prior to that, often times you would turn the key and the dash lights would come on and the car would do nothing...not even turn over. after a few attempts, it would start. i need to get this fixed. i have 116k miles and this has happened two me twice in the last three weeks.
Vehicle is having issues starting while parked. i have seen that 2012 - 2013 dodge durango's do have a active recall from chrylser on certain models for the tipm. the issues stems from the cars inability to start due to the tipm not providing fuel when attempting to start. the starter is attempting to start the vehicle but it does not fully turn over. http://m.carcomplaints.com/news/2015/chrysler-dodge-jeep-tipm-lawsuit.shtml this issue started mid march 2019 and has persistently gotten worse with sometimes now failing to properly start.
I have a 2013 dodge durango. i purchased this vehicle in october 2018, and soon after i started experiencing the problem. on may occasions while driving the vehicle randomly turns off, all electrical inside the vehicle goes blank, power steering goes out as well. it has happened while stopped, pulling off from a stop light, on side streets, and on highways. there doesn't seem to be a specific time this happens. i have taken the vehicle into the auto shop, and to the dealership. both have said without a code or being able to replicate the issue they can't do anything. the issue happens randomly, so i don't see how it can be replicated so easily. this is very dangerous, and could be deadly. i have a 9 week old baby that i can't have in the vehicle, because i fear for her safety.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. the contact stated that the vehicle shut down while driving on the highway. the vehicle was towed to tate dodge chrysler jeep ram (7429 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, md 21061) where they stated that the extended warranty was expired. the vehicle had been at a the dealer for a month. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 85,000.
Engine made ticking noise when running on every surface. problem diagnosed as rocker failure. the consumer stated both right side cam shafts and all rocker arms were replaced. the consumer requested to be reimbursed the cost of repairs under the extended warranty. *js
Dodge durango 2013- 78,000 miles: on multiple occasions while driving our 2013 durango it just shuts off. all inside electrical devices go blanks and we lose power steering. we have documented dates of when this has occurred and it can be 5 minutes into the drive or 45 minutes on a busy highway. we have had it the garage multiple times and they continue to tell us without a code they can not diagnose any issues. this has been happening since june 2018. we reported this issue to dodge. they suggested we go to the garage for a diagnosis. we tried again on 12/26/18 to get a diagnosis and they again could not find anything wrong with the vehicle without a code. as my husband proceeded to drive away from the garage, it shut off again. he went back into the garage and they said they couldn't find any codes. so we continue to pay for garage visits with no answers. we are now afraid to drive our only vehicle because it shuts off completely while driving. it is completely dangerous to be driving down a busy highway and you lose your power steering or if you are pulling out of an establishment and lose power in front of other cars. we paid a lot of money for this car and have taken care of it with regular oil changes and garage visits. this seems like a major safety issue and dodge should be concerned that someone may be hurt or killed.
Sometimes in trying to start, turning the key results in no response whatever from the engine. a second or third attempt is necessary. have also had several problems with stalling while driving. recently i was driving at 30 mph and a total loss of power happened, i coasted it trying to turn into a parking lot then the engine came back to life and i was able to drive home. we have had a similar problem 2 years ago, except it was just non-starting intermittenly. had it towed several times. after they tried replacing the tipm (and this had already been replaced in a recall) they found it was a faulty fuel pump. now more problems.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would randomly shut off. the cause of the failure was not determined. the local dealer (unknown) and manufacturer were notified. the contact was informed that the vehicle was included in the nhtsa campaign number: 19v813000 (fuel system) but the parts needed to repair the failure were not yet available. the failure mileage was 100,000. (recall related incident) ts
We own a 2013 dodge durango with 175,000 mile on it and has been a great vehicle up until it started losing power while driving. after having several mechanics trouble shoot the issue we found out the the engine was actually misfiring and because of a bad lifter. after our mechanic contacted our local dealership to find out that the lifter for the 5.7 hemi engine is on backorder with no eta of when it will be in and being told that this is a very common issue. this tells me that there needs to be more investigated here, after doing some research it looks like this is a known issue with dodges 5.7 hemi engine not just in the durango but in all of their vehicles and that other people have reported this issue but nothing has been done about this. this issue could have lead to a much bigger safety issue if the engine stalling would have happened and cause harm or death of my husband while driving this vehicle. right now we are just fighting to recoup our costs for the repairs on a vehicle that we are still paying for.
Vehicle turns off when driving. vehicles losses complete electricity/power while driving.
2013 dodge durango r/t with over 100k miles september 21, 2018 vehicle was taken to a mechanic to find the source of the check engine light and ticking in the engine. the ticking was present when the vehicle was idling or driving. the check engine light came on when driving down the interstate. two mechanics, a new engine, and $8,649 later the following issues were found with the original stock engine: "found lifter roller locked up and damage lobe on camshaft' and 'metal in the oil pan'. after much research it has been found that locked up lifters are taking chunks out of the camshaft, and the pieces of metal that are knocked off are going into the engine. this is a very serious problem that could result in complete engine failure. dodge needs to be held accountable for the defective parts.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. the contact mentioned that it took several attempts to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer where it was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the vehicle still stalled after the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 106,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. while operating the vehicle, a clunking noise was heard coming from the transmission. while driving approximately 60 mph, the check engine and traction control indicators illuminated. the vehicle suddenly lost power and would not accelerate properly. after stopping and restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (lockmandy dodge, 920 n nappanee st, elkhart, in) where the transmission sensor was replaced and the transmission fluid was flushed, but the failures continued intermittently. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000. the vin was invalid.
I've had a few recalls on the truck. several listed wiring. they've all been 'corrected' or checked by a dealer. my truck caught fire and burned all the electrical under the hood today. less than a month since the 'electrical' recall was supposedly repaired. it was stopped but running at a gas station after a short 3 minute drive. *tt
Every 3 or 5 days, after starting the engine, it completely stops. all power is lost. in order for the engine to start again, i have to depress the ignition button and open up the driver side door! it seems like this is an electrical problem. i'm afraid the engine might stall while i'm driving the vehicle. has there been a recall to address this problem? i bought the vehicle exactly one year again and this problem began exactly one month after i purchased it. june, 2018.
While driving on no more than 65 mph the engine has shut down for no reason, and with no warning. this has happened 4 times, and all 4 times the power steering and brakes don't work. once the car has stopped and gear placed into park i have been able to turn the ignition and the car restarts. all four times the engine is the only thing that turns off, the radio continues to play.
This is a problem is alot of dodge vehicles with the pentastar engines. the valvetrain is a flawed design and is costing people lots and lots of money. my problem is the roller rocker arm is worn and ticking. not a big deal right? how about $1900+ parts and labor? we, like most americans, live paycheck to paycheck and rely on our vehicles to get us to and from work. now, why does a vehicle, with just at 100000 miles, need new camshafts, rocker arms, and lifters? well i'll tell you why. because dodge is refusing to recall all these units due to expense. what about my expense? why would they be allowed to not recall this deficient design? just wondering.
The vehicle will start but wont go into gear. i have to turn it off and on for it to finally go into gear. worked fine the next day. this has happened twice within a few weeks. other than that seems to run fine.
Vehicle shuts off without warning while driving, total loss of power, steering, brakes and throttle. almost killed my family.
Within about the last 6 weeks my suv has been stalling while driving in heavy traffic areas which is highly dangerous & i lose all control of my vehicle i have contacted the dodge dealership where i purchased this vehicle from & they are doing the bare minimum to correct this issue!!!! knowing my vehicle has active recalls!!!
On 12/24/2017 i started my durango to let it warm up before leaving my house, remote start was used. it was making a funny noise so i turned it off and then turned it back on. at this time i saw smoke was coming from the engine. upon inspection i noticed smoke from the alternator and had to put water on it. i took my durango on 12/26/2017 to dwayne lane's chrysler and jeep at 10515 evergreen way, everett, wa 98204. they said this is related to recall t36 and there was no known fix. i understand if the alternator was still fine they could do nothing. however since it was clearly faulty after running their tests they said i would have to pay out of pocket nearly $1200 dollars and then get reimbursed after 90 days. i called dodge customer service and worked with someone to get approval for the dealership to get paid. i was told by the dealership they were unable to get this approved due to multiple reasons (managers on vacation/system not setup to do so). at this point i was looking at either not having a vehicle or making the $1200 payment. i checked at another dealership and they said they have dealt with this exact issue, and could get it covered. my calls to dodge must have worked because the first dealership got approval to replace with another alternator that mind you might have the same issues. i picked up my durango 12/27 and after driving for 15 minutes the battery light came on. i drove it to the new dealership to have them look at it and they said yes some batteries have died due to the bad alternators. they said dodge is not covering this so $200 dollars out of pocket. after driving my durango it now has the battery light on again. now they are saying it is the pcm module that has gone out and this may not be covered as well. currently it is 12/29 and i still do not have my durango.
In december 2017 said vehicle was towed to the shop for a no start condition. after bringing it in we determined a severe short in the electrical system, traced to alternator. we also found melted battery. found this vehicle fell under the t36 recall from fca. we got approval at that time to repair the vehicle and received a case number for reimbursement. we had to call back multiple times to continue authorization, and was told as long as the problems were related to the alternator then they would be reimbursed from 30-60 days from the time of submission. after submitting needed paper work and documentation we waited. the customer stopped in in may and asked us to check on it since he had not heard anything yet. called fca and found out that nothing had been done with the claim because of an internal error that sent the paper work to the wrong department. after calling again on 6/13/18 we found out that again, it had not been filed or sent to the right people. today (6/13/18) i sent the information again and was promised it would be taken care of. it has now been 6 months from the date of the repair and no effort has been made to reimburse the customer for anything. fca said it would be handled in 30-60 days. i feel that this is unreasonable. this customer has been very understanding but is running out of patience. we now have 3 different case numbers and i have documentation of talking to 4 different people to resolve the matter. the case numbers that have been assigned are as follows: 1) [xxx], # [xxx], 2) contact: [xxx], # [xxx], 3)[xxx], #[xxx]. i feel that as it is a recall and chrysler did not have a solution for the problem at the time, and authorized us to repair, they have handled the situation very poorly. please look into the matter or at least please let me know who i can contact to make a proper complaint. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
When i use the key less remote to start the car from outside my car it ideals for about 30 seconds or less then turns off. i try it again the horn beeps once then doesn't start. the radio settings reset on it's own which has happened several times. the console/instrument panel lighting changes from bright to dim when it's still light outside. one of the engine fans turns on/off more than normal and it's louder then it been in the past. i am noticing a ticking noise when the engine is started but no one can seem to find out the issue. lastly, when accelerating the gas pedal the power lags meaning you can literally floor the pedal and it takes several minutes to get up to speed. all of these issues have happened several times and the dealership tells me there's nothing wrong. something is wrong because the check engine like once again came on this morning.
Takata recall from time to time when starting the 2013 dodge darango v 8 hemi it would just continuously turn over like it was not getting fuel it would not happen all the time but makes it unreliable when its your wife and kids using the car and what makes it a safety issue in my opinion is that the car has also stalled from time to time the car has been to the dealer 2 times now we have a extended warranty but they said they can not repeat the problem very frustrating
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. the contact stated that the vehicle did not start when cranked. the failure occurred at least fifty times. the vehicle only started by using the remote start button on the key fob. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge durango. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled abruptly. there were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. the vehicle was taken to dave dennis chrysler jeep dodge ram (4232 colonel glenn hwy in dayton, oh) for diagnostic testing, but the results were undetermined. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact believed that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Vehicle alternator started to smoke and catch on fire, after shorting itself out. vehicle was on the road then parked in driveway. i reported it to dodge who advised it was on recall (t36). called chrysler customer care to report. they set up a tow and advised that they would replace with current model alternator and if needed the pcm and battery. dealership now stating chrysler will not cover pcm or battery. now i have a vehicle at the dealership that wont run with a new alternator . chrysler care made notes when i first talked with them on this case # 32398928 from customer care. now they will not admidt that they authorized repair of altornator, pcm , and battery.
Car has stalled twice and will not start. first incident happened saturday 22 july 17 and the second incident wednesday 2 aug 17. seems as it tries to turn over but will not turn on. i waited a few minutes before trying to turn on. when it finally did i, i could not shift gears and the brake seemed to be locked. i tried turning of vehicle, but it would not turn off. i finally got it to turn off and i waited again a few minutes before turning back on. my check engine light has not turned on yet and no messages have came up saying there are any issues. both times vehicle was stationary. first time it had been off for an hour, second time it had been off for four hours. i believe that the alternator is the problem. this vehicle has had recalls before so i checked to see if there was another recall. there is one dated 10 july 17, in which it is describing the same problem.
My wife was driving our durango when it suddenly lost all power. she had to muscle it to the side of the road, where she attempted numerous times to restart it. prior to that, often times you would turn the key and the dash lights would come on and the car would do nothing...not even turn over. after a few attemps, it would start. after the stall, we brought it into our local dodge dealer (dutchess dodge) where the service department kept it for a few days, said they could not recreate our concerns, cleaned numerous electrical connections, charged us $500 and recommended we change a "win" module at about $800 plus labor but could not guarnatee this would fix the issue. the service person even admitted it could be the tipm but that they couldn't be sure and the fix of the win module was the first recommedation. he also added that some components in the tipm were loose and that they checked and cleaned them also and that for all they know it could have fixed the issue. i informed them that i could not afford to continue to throw money into "trial and error" fixes and to just button it up and give it back to us. a week later, it happened to my wife again, only this time, as she was pulling off to the side of the road, it re-started on it's own. we called the service department back and their reply was that they recommended changing the win module. this vehilcle has 62000 miles and has been regularly serviced by me and cared for like a baby. this is not an issue of use or abuse, it is faulty parts and we should not be responsible. i feel like i should just trade this in and after of lifetime of being a loyal mopar customer, go in a different direction.
As of 7/28/2017, while driving on the highway the alternator went out causing the computer system to also go out and the car stall having no power . the vehicle had to be tow to the repair shop.
My wife along with our 4 children were driving down the expressway when our dodge durango lost all power. all the indicator lights started flashing on the instrument panel. if not for my wife being a safe driver god knows what could've become of my family. car won't turn on says there is no key present. wipers come on and off, ac blows hot air, doors won't unlock, radio turns on and off. it's very upsetting when you think you're buying a quality vehicle only to have it turn out like it did. my wife has expressed that she no longer wants to drive the vehicle as she is scared something like this might happen again.

While driving my car surges at times. i can lose power at any given speed and then suddenly my car will jerk fast. sometimes when driving slow to go around a roundabout it will just lose power and barely go. while at a stop but in drive, the motor will vibrate. this has been ongoing since i purchased my durango. seems to be getting much worse. only 54,000 + miles on it.
Ac condenser/ transmission fluid cooler failed at 49,000 miles causing transmission fluid to leak out on right upper side causing transmission to not shift during driving operation. loosing control of acceleration in the highway. there was a strong down shift causing a stall on a main highway.
Vehicle looses power and stalls when approaching a stop (while still in motion). i have to place vehicle in park and restart vehicle in order to continue driving. i am very concerned that this is going to cause me to be rear-ended at some point as it does happen prior to me arriving at a stop sign or stop light. this has been happening for approx. the last 3-4 week and becoming more frequent. *tr
