2012 dodge durango has history of starting and stalling problem. while vehicle was under warranty, it would stall right after you start it. the dealer performed fuel pump relay recall, and problem was not fixed. the next dealer remove the external fuel pump relay and replaced tipm, problem was still not fixed. dealer then re-completed the fuel pump relay recall, problem still not fix. now the vehicle is stalling while driving down the road and seems to happen when you turn the steering wheel. there is a recall for this issue (t36) but dodge is saying that my vehicle does not qualify for that recall. this is a very dangerous issue and is can/will lead to a vehicle accident when we can't control the vehicle going down the highway as it keeps shutting off.

Talked to a mechanic who said that my lifters are ruining my camshaft and that they need to be replaced. my father in law also had the same thing happen to his 5.7 hemi.

I parked my car at home. in the morning when i pressed the start switch to start the car crank, and it does not start. i wait a minute press the start switch again and the car keeps cranking no stopping until i move my gear from park to reverse. i remove the switch and i add my car key and try again with car key. after 3 times the car starts. i know there's a recall or lawsuit for this issue. i want my car fixed with no cost for me. i maintain my car in good shape and urge to get this done. this started this week 12/17/18

This is the 3rd time in the past 3 months i've been taking this vehicle to service for different service issues. the most recent one is the dash and whipers started going crazy, a sudden smell of burnt wires/electric burn. the vehicle shut down while in motion locking the steering wheel and the gear shifter didn't want to engage. i tried starting the vehicle but it wouldn't start. the vehicle is not comunicating with the starting key. the vehicle got towed to the deelsrship and after two days they called me back saying that the vehicle is not comunicating with the tipm (totally integrated power module) therefor the can't make a diagnosis. they will have to check each wire one by one abd that check up is going to cost 4 hours of work at a cost of approximately $400 before they can run a diagnosis.

The catalytic converter went bad 10/2018. the check engine light came on and the dealership performed a diagnostic testing and it indicated that the catalytic converter was bad and needs replacement asap. within the state of pa. it is important to keep the emission system update within state standards. the cost was about $1,400. i check the recall status and there is no recalls listed.

2012 dodge durango crew with 5.7l hemi engine. 10/23/18 - vehicle through engine error code related to cylinder 8 misfire. pulled the plugs and cylinder 8 plug was burnt. since the last plug change mileage was unknown, i replaced all 16 spark plugs. vehicle started and ran fine. error code cleared and did not reapper. 11/7/18 - while driving at ~60mph throttle fluttered and vehicle then died. no check engine or warning lights illuminated. coasted to the side of the road. tried to re-start engine since no warnings were visible. engine made grinding noise and seized. determined by luther brookdale dodge in brooklyn park that there is a hole in the block, engine is seized and the engine needs replacement. mileage was 114,xxx. safety issue is that vehicle died at highway speed, leading to a loss of power steering, and assisted braking ability. no warning lights illuminated on the dash so there was no visible indicator of engine failure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge durango. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked back and forth. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and code: p0303 (misfire) displayed. the vehicle was taken to sj denham chrysler jeep fiat (772 n market st, redding, ca 96003, 530-241-1756) where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft and lift were fractured. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they could not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 73,850.

I have a 2012 dodge durango with 110000 miles on it. took it too the dealership because of a check engine light. the engine felt like it was running good. it turned out that three of my lifters were bad which also messed up the camshaft. had to replace the engine because it would have been the same price to fix it, if the other side we're bad too. this is a known issue with dodge and they refuse to fix it

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge durango. the contact stated that the vehicle decelerated while driving, lost power, and shut down. the contact quickly pulled the vehicle over to the road shoulder. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to route 46 chrysler dodge jeep (1655 us-46, little falls, nj 07424, (973) 339-7752) where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump failed. the vehicle was repaired. two weeks later, the failure recurred. the vehicle was repaired again and other unknown parts were replaced. two weeks later, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. the failure mileage was 92,293.

We had an exhaust leak, and we didn't think that it was a big deal maybe a broken seal. i noticed the leak when i used my remote start in the morning.turns out the exhaust manifold warped and broke bolts! this could have caused some serious safety issue if it hadn't been looked into. i looked at other dodge durango owner sites and this seems to be a common problem amongst owners of this make and model.

When driving the vehicle, at different speeds each time the problem occurred, and applying the brakes, the vehicle will shut off and the steering wheel will lock. requiring the vehicle to be restarted either rolling in neutral or fully stopped in park.

Vehicle stalled twice in the past month while driving on the highway at 65 mph. lost power steering capability which created a dangerous situation in an attempt to pull the vehicle to the shoulder. second incident happened yesterday. vehicle did restart after a few attempts. vehicle recall r09 was allegedly addressed by route 46 dodge in nj in 2015.

Car was not experiencing any problems. cranked it to go to work and the check engine light was on and there was a noise coming from the engine. took to the dealership and first test indicated a misfire in #5. changed plugs and filter. no change in car. back to dealership and $150 diagnostic test revealed bent cam shaft.

Cranked the car one morning and when started driving ,the check engine light came on and there was a knocking noise coming from the engine and was loosing power. the car was stalling after 20 minutes drive. i took it to the dealer and the diagnostic came with a misfire cylinder #5. further diagnostic reveal broken cam shaft. the car has only 66773 miles. the repair was done it was long and expensive about $4500.

During summer 2017, 5.7l hemi started to make a noticeable clicking noise at 70,000 miles although it had been meticulously maintained. in sept 2017 at 72,000 the engine failed with a grinded camshaft due to a roller/lifter failure. the engine had to be replaced out of warranty by specialty hemi engien shop pro engines llc in elon, nc. today, i am realizing that this was not a random occurrence. i have found many testimonies online and in person of 5.7l hemi owners having experienced similar dramatic and costly failures of their engine camshaft due roller / lifter failure as explained clearly for example in these videos: here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inpuz3pcha0), here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg5qx9qojgo) or here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2cx11tutic) luckily this engine failure did not cause injury as it failed while vehicle was parked, but i concur that it could have if the failure at happened at the wrong moment and i think that dodge is well aware of this problem and that it is trying to hide it i concur that the camshaft failure is an engineering issue that dodge should correct and fix under extended warranty as replacing the engine was very expansive and is totally outrageous for a less than 6 years old and 72,000 miles perfectly maintained truck. i wish that nhtsa receives enough complains to bolster consumers in receiving technical and financial help from the manuacturer best, [xxx] redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

The transmission cooler was found to be leaking severely. luckily noticed before overheating and damage to the transmission.

The failed tipm is dangerous and could leave you stranded from astalled engine. the failed alternator may have been a by product of the faulty tipm. this part should be part of a recall.

The front main crank seal began to leak and eject oil all over the front of the engine compartment. luckily discovered before damage to the engine.

We had a recall fixed on the fuel pump relay and since then the vehicle stalls while driving.didn't do that before the work

As i turned right, the vehicle once again stalled. the engine turned off, but all the electrical systems continued to work. i placed my foot on the gas to demonstrate that it would not move while the vehicle was still in drive. then i did the same with the break to demonstrate that it wouldn't respond. i put the vehicle in park with my foot on the brake and the vehicle restarted. my children were in the vehicle and my oldest son recorded until we reached the intended stopping point. the mileage on the vehicle was 94,624. the vehicle had a trigger box / flight recorder, but it quit functioning the previous week when the car also stopped last week.

My battery light came on. within minutes all the other lights on my dashboard came on, my air starting blowing hot and then it started to stall. luckily i was on a small road and was able to coast off onto the grass. the car was dead and smoke was pouring from the alternator. i went and bought a new battery and alternator. within in 2 minutes of installing both, my car did the same exact thing. i had to have it towed to the dealership. i was told it was the alternator. i explained that i had already replaced it and think it could be more severe. they told me they would replace the alternator with labor i'm looking at $1200. that's not including if that doesn't fix the issue. they sais it could have fried my (pcm) power control module which could cost me at least $1000 more plus labor. how is it they aren't recalling the 2012 durango with 180 amp alternator but all the others? this car is only 5 years old, i shouldn't have had to replace the alternator going on 3 times now. i don't feel safe driving my son in this car anymore. i've seen enough complaints saying this caused accidents since the car just dies while driving.

Our dodge durango stalled as i was turning left. when i went to push the trigger box, it did not work and will not come back on. i restarted the car and waited, but the trigger box no longer works. this is of course strange because once again, nothing can be recorded. the key fob battery is brand new and the push button was in use. i have a video for documentation. the mileage is 94,017. we have recorded via trigger box daily jerks with the durango and now the major issue we needed documentation of can't be captured because the device no longer operates.

I came to a stop at a stop light to turn right and the vehicle stalled. i didn't have time to record it because there were cars coming down the exit behind me. i immediately kept my foot on the brake and placed the vehicle in park and restarted it. the mileage is at 93,322. the flight recorder the dealership placed on the vehicle didn't work so there was nothing to capture.

Upon arriving home, a strong odor of electrical burning was present coming from the engine compartment. the electrical light came on and smoke was visible coming from the engine compartment. the car was parked in the garage and was immediately turned off. similar to recall p60; however our car was not included in the recall because of a different alternator and slightly different engine type.

Motor shuts off traveling down the road (happened 3 times since 2016). twice on a curve 30 - 40 mph & once down a straight away 60mph (scary). got on your web sight nhtsa recall # 19v-813. - manufacturer recall # v62. we have stopped driving the vehicle. called dodge gave me case # 74962415. talked to a [xxx] at dodge said he could not loan me a vehicle. ask him to let me speak to his superior...he said no. talked to bobilya dodge (local dealer). no help with this recall until they figure out a remedy. (recall related incident) ts can you help? need a vehicle! [xxx] approx dates this occurred ....2/17. + 4/18. + 5 /19 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The vehicle stalls while driving (very intermittently). does not log any engine codes and mainly happens on deceleration. but has happened at highway speeds when exiting the freeway and also at low speeds when coming to a stop sign. when the engine stalls you loose power steering and brakes but all of the electronics keep working radio, lights, etc... i have called chrysler care opened a case, which they assisted in scheduling an appointment for the vehicle at the local dodge dealer. the case was closed by chrysler since the dealership could not duplicate the problem. we bought this vehicle with 50,000 miles on it and it now has 76,000 and has stalled on us several times i would say (12) over the 26,000 miles we have pout on it. if you google this complaint/problem with the 2011/2012 durango it is widely known and a very serious issue to be ignoring, someone is going to be killed because of this.

My dodge durando 2012 have to many problems my car stop withn is running several times a take to dealer the change the fuel pump and the nex day have enegine ligth take back to dealer now the said is catalyst , and arent but my car 2012 i believe is not to old to have to many problems i believe it's all factory default.

Around 7:20 am i had just exited a ramp to go beneath the underpass to turn left. the mileage change was 60 mph to 35 mph. before the car could come to a complete stop applied by brakes, it stalled. there were other vehicles behind us who had to go around. my children were with me and one recorded to show that the vehicle was still in drive and that the brake and the gas would not receive a response from the car. this is the third day in a row that vehicle has stalled since we received in back from the dealership.

I was in the process of turning left at an intersection. as i turned the wheel locked up and the car slowed down and eventually stopped. i had to veer to the right as much as i could. i put the car in park and when i started it again, it shook. i proceeded to drive home. due to it being night and where i was positioned, i couldn't record the issue, but i did document the mileage.

I was in line to turn left under the underpass. when i pressed the gas, the vehicle would not move. the wheel locked up as i tried to move forward. i had to turn on my emergency lights and signal other to go around on the right because no one could pass me on the left. i put the car in park and restarted it. there was no dashboard light to indicate that anything was wrong. my son was able to record and show that the vehicle was still in drive and not moving. i contacted the area manager to ask if this known, unsafe vehicle could be bought back at the highest nada value. his response was, 'i'm not offering a repurchase.' he shared that he would get another technician personally involved. we just received the car from the shop on wednesday, january 25, 2017 after the entire tipm was replaced and it stopped again! *tr
