I purchased this 2006 durango used in 2012.from day 1, it has spewed fuel out when filling up. i have been soaked on a few occasions, and have had fuel sprayed in my eyes. i have seen prior years being recalled for the same reason, but not this model year. please do something about this. *tr
Every time at fill up when fueling the vehicle, when the gas pump clicks off fuel shoots/spills out of gas tank opening. doing research on line i've discovered many other dodge durango's with the exact same problem. there has been a tsb # 14-001-12 and nhtsa ref. # 10043594 about the problem and durangos with certain vin#s have been fixed with this tsb. i thought all 2006 durangos would be fixed with this tech. service bulletin. when i inquired at the dealer on 6/9/12 about having the problem fixed i was told my vin # was not covered in the tsb. i contacted chrysler about the problem and had a rep. call me and ask what the problem was and that she never heard of the problem. i referred to the tsb notice and she still acted like she didn't know anything about it. all 2006 durangos should be covered by the lifetime warranty on parts and repairs listed in tsb 14-001-12. this is a very serious safety issue that could very well result in fire and death. *tr
Every time the car is refueled gas spills from the tank. it shoots to the rear of the vehicle and gets on my hands, legs, shoes, side of car and ground. i have contacted dodge and they will not do anything about the issue. this effects the environment, myself, my family and anyone else who has to come in contact with the gas that is left all over my car, myself and the ground. *tr
When pumping gas, the fuel tank spills gas all over the car & ground. it doesn't stop when the pump kicks off. gas pours on ground, my shoes & clothes. this happens every time i get gas. *tr
I bought my durango "used" from the dealership and the first time i filled the tank up, gas went everywhere. i thought it was the gas station but the time after that, when i filled up- i did it slowly and it still overfilled and spilled everywhere. now, i can't fill my tank full as i am afraid of a fire and also don't like wasting money on expensive gas that isn't going into my tank so i only fill it about half full every time. this is a headache no matter how you put it. however, i have read and seen many reviews of many other 2006 durangos with the same issue. wondering if there's a recall? *tr
Fuel spews out of the fuel filler tube after the automatic fuel shutoff stops fuel flow into the tank. there is a one or two second lag before the fuel spews out after shutoff. fuel spills onto the car, the ground and the person filling the tank if they happen to be removing the pump nozzle at that moment. the problem has persisted with each successive fillup since the initial incident. *tr
Everytime we fill the gas tank for the past year it shoots more than a foot out of the vehicle. *tr
own durango built jan 2006, gas is put in it, click off nozzle, gas comes back out forcefully over the vehicle, ground and myself. it is terrifying and dangerous. there is a recall for this on the 2005. someone is going to get seriously hurt. i barely drive it because i am so terrified to put gas in it. i tried to email dodge and the email does not go through. i called on the recall and they told me it is for the 2005 and i can have the dealer fix it and maybe they will help. i took it to an independent repair shop and the part alone is $550 and i do not have that kind of money and i don't have 40,000 miles on the vehicle. here is the recall: january 2009 -- chrysler is recalling 19,024 my 2005 dodge durango vehicles. the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve may not fully close at the end of refueling. this could allow some fuel to escape from the vehicle through the filler neck at the end of refueling. fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. dealers will inspect the fuel tank inlet check valve. vehicles found to have a suspect inlet check valve will have the fuel tank assembly replaced free of charge. the recall is expected to begin during april 2009. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. this recall was the subject of a recall query, rq08-005, conducted by the office of defects investigation. 09v-003 many other owners with the same complaint of 2006: http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_gasolinestoragetank_assemblyfiller_pipe_and_cap/ ____ http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_gasoline/ ____ http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_gasolinestoragetank_assembly/ ____ http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/car_problems/dodge-durango/2006/fuel_system_other/
Every time i fill up my gas tank since purchasing this vehicle last year my fuel tank sprays out gas after the gas pump shuts off. even if i don't use the gas pump auto shutoff while filling as soon as the tank is full it sprays gas out and also pours down the side of my vehicle onto the ground. i always need to take windshield washer fluid and wash off my vehicle and pour it onto the ground so there is not a puddle of gas sitting on the ground. now i only fill my tank 1/2 full when fueling to avoid this issue. *tr
Every time this vehicle is filled to full it spews gas out of the tank at the pump operator resulting in gas on the person fueling vehicle. we have tried several service stations this is not a pump issue the issue is with the vehicle. we have spoken to several station attendants this is a known issue to them. i believe this needs to be addressed before someone is seriously burned by a spark. *tr
Since july of 2011 and every gas station stop since then my wife and i avoid filling up our tank, as this vehicle does not stop flow of gas at any pump when it reaches full. instead it gurgles up and spray fuel back at the person filling tank (me usually), down side of vehicle and of course all over the ground. after reviewing other reports, it is apparent there are major and consistent issues of this type for the 2006 durango and recalls for same issue, only for 2005 model. since then everytime we fill up, it is a guessing game how close, and i run back and forth from pump handle to interior gas gauge, back to pump handle and so on. i'm sure it's amusing to everyone else that doesn't own this chrysler product. *tr
Gas spits out forcefully when fueling, leaving gas all over the floor, along the side of the vehicle, and on my clothes/shoes. it happens every time unless i stop fueling before the tank fills up. makes it tough to go on long trips because i can never have a full tank of gas. this has continued for over a year. *tr
I purchased this vehicle for my mother. i filled the tank with gas on several occasions- when the tank is full gas flies out of the tank. my mother has known of this problem, however, i have not. i was trying to be nice & fill the tank for her. i heard the click on the nozzle as i stood leaning against the vehicle & when i pulled the nozzle out gas flew all over my arm & atleast a foot in the air. outrageous! she said it's happened to her so she just puts in $50. *tr
This vin has a recurring gasoline fuel spit-back problem. first occurrence happened at approximately 45,000 miles + 5 years ownership and continues. vehicle cannot be fueled to 'full' without approximately 12 ounces of fuel spit-back and overflow onto vehicle body and ground. extremely hazardous. not coverage by recall or warranty. *tr
when filling gas tank to capacity, the gas pump shuts off and gas spews from the vehicle out onto the vehicle and ground. i would estimate maybe 1/2 to 1 gallon of gas is involved. the vehicle was taken to the dealership, sherwood, of salisbury, md in 2011 to have problem addressed. was told that there was no problem to be fixed. received letter dated 2/1/2013 from chrysler group llc stating that the warranty on the fuel tank inlet check valve has been extended to lifetime coverage for my vehicle. it goes on to state that "if you are experiencing this condition now or in the future, to simply contact your dealer to have the repairs performed. took car to sherwood dealership and was given the run around. was told in june 2013 that there was a shortage of parts available to fix my vehicle and they would call in a few months to schedule the repair. called the chrysler customer care assistance center and reported the incident on 6/4/2013. decided to file a grievance here with the nhtsa as this is an epa issue and safety issue due to the gasoline spillage. as a result of the gasoline spillage, the paint under the fuel filling area of the vehicle has bubbled and has now rusted in that area. have requested that this problem also be taken care of as it is a direct result of a malfunction of the vehicle. have been told that they would make the repair(whenever the parts are available) but, will not take care of the rust issue. would like to have feedback as to how to get this taken care of. it is absolutely ridiculous that chrysler acknowledges there is a problem, has sent a letter for instruction on how to address the problem, but has not actually fixed the problem 5 months from the date of the letter!!!! *tr
Every time i fill my tank, the nozzle doesn't shut off, and gas goes all over me and the ground. not to mention on the paint of the car, can't be good for the paint. also it is not good for the environment at a gallon a week on the ground. the 2005 model was recalled for this very same reason, seems reasonable to recall the 2006. this is a very dangerous issue where a spark could end up causing an explosion. *tr
4-8 ounces of gasoline spills every time i fill the tank, whether in automatic mode or trying to minimize flow rate from the pump manually. *js
During refueling the pump handle will click off then a second later a rush of gasoline will spew out of the fill inlet. this happens every time the tank is filled to full. *tr
When filling the gas tank the fuel splashes and pours out all over me and the vehicle. the paint on the vehicle that is exposed to the fuel has begun to bubble and rust. *tr if the inconvenience and hazard of the spill isn't enough the loss of fuel at today's high prices is an injustice that needs to be addressed. please help us! we paid a lot for our vehicle and now it looks like crap! dodge should care more about it customers! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated the fuel spilled out of the tank whenever gasoline was added to its capacity. the fuel pump shut off, but fuel continued to spill out of the fuel tank. the contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer to be inspected. the failure mileage was unknown. the current mileage was 61,000. updated 2/4/13 *cn the consumer stated the local dodge dealer advised this was a known issue. the vehilce was repaired. updated 02/20/2013*js
The gas tank sprays a large amount of gasoline back out of the tank every time it is filled. this is a flammable and environmental hazard. it is the same symptom as in the 2005 dodge durango recall, yet the '06s are not included. this is clearly a manufacturing defect, yet dodge will not correct this, and it is a costly repair to the consumer. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. whenever the contact refueled the vehicle to its full capacity, fuel would spew out onto the ground and the contact's clothing. in addition, the engine warning indicator illuminated continuously when the vehicle was operable. the contact replaced the fuel cap; however, the failure persisted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.
Safety and environmental hazard. when fueling the vehicle and the fuel nozzle stops filling, a large amount of gasoline forcefully spews from the tank filler neck. spraying on the person fueling, spilling fuel on the ground, and on the vehicle. at first it was annoying. now i feel it has become a safety hazard and also an environmental hazard. i am not describing a small burp of gasoline, but a large amount, at least a cup of fuel. i no longer can fill the tank, i have to stop short to prevent the attendant from being drenched with gas and gas being spilled on the ground. *tr
2006 dodge durango. whenever you put fuel in the car, the fuel overflows spilling and spraying out a substantial amount of fuel on the person and the ground. this does this every time when filling up the car. i am the original owner of the car and this creates safety concerns. dodge issued a recall on 2005 models recall id#78716 for the same issue, but hasn't addressed the issues with any of the 2006 and 2007's. *tr
My 2006 dodge durango spills gas everytime i fill it completely up. i insert the fuel nozzle from the gas pump put it on half fill and let the fuel flow until it shuts off at the handle about 2 seconds later fuel comes squirting out of the durangos gas receptacle! it does this everytime you fill the vehicle up, and has done it since 2008. dodge needs to do a recall and fix this!!!! *tr
At the end of refueling, gas spews from the filler neck and shoots out onto everything in the immediate area. gas spills onto the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. *js
The fuel tank overflows at the gas station if filled completely. there is nothing to stop this from happening. i have tried adjusting the way i hold the gasoline nozzle, but nothing seems to make any difference. this is a fire hazard! it is hard to keep if from happening. when it happens, gasoline flies out everywhere, getting all over the vehicle and myself. it is scary. this needs a recall! in addition, the body underneath of the fuel tank has rusted as this has happened numerous times. *tr
My 2006 dodge durango shoots gas out of the gas tank when filling up with gas. it has been doing this since 2009 and i just found out yesterday when getting a recall (wipers) fixed that a recall for 2005 had the issue. there is no recall for 2006 dodge durango models. *tr
Whenever i put gas in the tank, it comes back out when it reaches full. it sprays and splashes out onto the vehicle and ground. i avoid this now by filling the tank very slowly for the last couple of gallons and trying to listen for any gas that may be coming back out at me. it still comes out sometimes. either way, this isn't right. *tr
When gas tank gets full, gas spills out of the tank all ovdr car and person standing there. you have to fill tank very slowly. car is rusting below gas cap from all the gas that has spilled there. *tr
When refueling fuel shoots out of gas tank. mechanism doesn't shut off when full. i consider this very dangerous. it originally occurred about 2 months after the mfgr warranty expired and no recall was made with this year model. very frustrating as well. occurs while sitting still next to gas pump, engine off.
Fuel splashes back from the fuel filler tube every time i fill the tank, if left to auto shut-off, resulting in splash-back on the person filling the tank, and fuel spilling on the ground. *tr
Fuel system, gasoline storage tank assembly filler pipe overflows. auto-shutoff does not function and gas spills out of filler pipe onto ground. *tr
Everytime myself or my wife fills up the gas tank, it will not shut off without spewing gas all over the place. we have monitored the recalls for this problem and have seen numerous testimonies to include video of the same issue. the statement released that it's because of operator negligence is completely false. it's to the point that we have to hold the handle at a slow fill speed in order to not lose fuel all over the ground. i have lost gallons worth of fuel not to negate the issue of safety for myself and family everytime the fuel dumps. *tr
When fuelling at a gas station, gas overflows when the tank is full (when the gas pump clicks off). this happens every time i try to fill the tank. gas overflows onto side of vehicle and onto pavement at gas station. fuel spill hazard is extremely dangerous. gas stations are starting to warn me that i cannot cause a fuel spill. dodge claims they have not heard of this problem. recall urgently needed before major catastrophe. *tr
When ever you try and fill the gas tank, when it get full it blows all over the place. you try and clean if off but it still has ruined the paint and a couple pair of gloves, that smell never comes out of clothes. this all started at or around 40,000 miles and have been dealing with it for 110,000 miles now.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. when attempting to refuel the vehicle, fuel spewed out. the failure recurred each time the contact attempted to refuel the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
When refueling vehicle check valve in fuel filler neck is defective causing gasoline to be ejected at high volocity when the gas pump handle shuts off. owner had cuticles on left foot burned from skin contact with liquid gasoline. many videos posted on youtube demonstrating this dangerous defect chrysler refuses to repair even though they have acknowledged the defect by recalling select vin's knowing the same part was installed without modification in many more vehicles not included in the recalls. this is just 1 clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=kbwgvmyy3vm&nr=1 *tt
Every time fill up gas tank it spills over. not on recall list. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated that fuel would overflow from the fuel tank when refueling. the contact received notification of a manufacturer's recall regarding the fuel system. the contact called the dealer to make an appointment to have the recall remedy performed and was advised that the part needed to complete the recall repair was not readily available. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 75,000.
The fuel tank spits out about a quart of gas when refilling tank. this has happened every time i have refilled since i bought the vehicle in march 2006. i have resorted to filling only 3/4 full for the last few years since my dealer will not fix the problem. i have addressed the problem to the lyndsey chrysler dodge dealer in st roberts, mo several times but no recalls have been issued for the 2006 durango. *tr
