Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated that while refueling, fuel spewed from the filler neck. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the fuel tank assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was not available.
When i fill up my gas tank, the gas does not stop flowing when the tank is full. the indicator does not work, therefore gas spills out onto the ground every time i fill up the tank.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated that when attempting to refuel the vehicle, the fuel was spewing out. the contact mentioned that he had to listen to when he thought the tank was going to be full to stop fueling. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer however the contact could not recall the diagnosis. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
Upon first purchasing at a dealership the purchase was as a used vehicle, so no warranty is or was in place. a few months later when filling the tank at a gas station the first incident of propulsion of gasoline forcing out of the tank, first happened. then a couple of times when trying to start the vehicle the motor would not start. using an obd to check codes there was no error codes but still ended up clearing it anyways which allowed the vehicle to start (which means its the computer). now, the front passenger window is down and will not go back up, checked the motor and the motor for the window is fine, but checking the switch it would only unlock door, not allow lock and absolutely no window control at all from either the passenger door switch or driver side switch. when looking at the switches turns out that the circuit boards are not soldered. the only way to get any of the problems fixed for anyone now would be for a recall, because the year being 2014 no warranty will cover any problems that i or anyone else is facing! *tr
The fuel filler valve is failing and allows the fuel to spill out of the gas tank even when the pump shuts off. this is a major safety hazard and should be recalled. it was recalled for 2005 why not 2006?
Everytime i fill up or come close to filling up the gas will come shooting out of the tank. it gets all over me, the vehicle and the ground. it can shoot as far as 4 or 5 feet away from the vehicle. i have stopped putting more than 1/2 a tank at a time in it but it is a huge inconvenience to have to stop for gas so much. *tr
When fueling the vehicle the gas pump clicks off then fuel spews out the filler neck of the vehicle this has caused the paint to come off and a hole to rust in the side of the vehicle just under the fuel cap. *tr
The vehicle, on cold start up exhibited a surging idle, from 500 rpm ranging up to 2000 rpm. the idle finally leveled out and settled down. while driving the vehicle, i noted some surging present while at a steady speed. once, while sitting at a traffic light while in drive, the vehicle idle jumped up and caused the vehicle to lunge into the intersection. luckily no cross traffic was present and applying the brakes very hard stopped the vehicle from completely running through the intersection. there was no check engine light present, nor has the check engine light ever illuminated on this vehicle, (other than the bulb check on start up), for any reason. as an ase master automobile technician and a former chrysler factory trained technician, i connected a scan tool to this vehicle to see what was going on. as stated, there was no cel, so there were no codes active, pending or historical. observation of the live data stream revealed nothing out of the ordinary. with access to identifix, i researched and found several other instances of the same concern with 2006 durangos, with recommendations of replacing the throttle body assembly due to intermittent "glitches" in the throttle position sensor sending false readings to the pcm causing the idle control motor to increase the idle speed. i currently have this part on order from my local dealership. once received and installed i will determine if further action will be required. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated that the fuel tank was defective and fuel spilled onto the ground when the fuel tank was filled to capacity. the failure was experienced several times. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 1,000.
I recently purchased a 2006 durango with some rust bubbles below the gasoline fill up door. on research of this issue i found 372 complaints regarding the fuel/propulsion system - spitting out gasoline when being filled at a gas station out of 553 total complaints via nhtsa. i have only had my vehicle a week and have not yet filled the tank. now very leery of filling the tank for fear of being covered with gasoline, polluting the environment, causing an explosion, injuring/killing nearby innocent bystanders, including myself. in the case of a potentially dangerous situation such as this, there is liability as with any safety hazard. besides the numerous complaints, there are videos on popular sites demonstrating the gas spit back yet there are no investigations reported regarding this complaint and only 2 service bulletins regarding this complaint. it makes me sick to think that i or some other durango owner could accidentally cause a mass fatality at a gas station if some unsuspecting person uses their cell phone or lights up. what about the health of the person pumping the gas? last i heard gasoline showers are very toxic. why is there no investigation on this concern? *tr
Every time we fuel up the durango, no matter how slow, or even if we allow it to "breathe"... when it gets close to full it shoots out fuel..seriously shoots it out, like 2 feet. we cant fuel it past 1/2 without this happening. also fuel leaks from somewhere in the fuel fill tube to the tank when ever we fuel at all. i see other durangos have similar complaints for this model year. *tr
When filling up the vehicle with fuel the pumps do not shut off when it is full and the gasoline spills outside of the vehicle, sometimes violently. this happens almost every time i fill the vehicle and is extremely dangerous! luckily the first time i was inside of the gas station when it happened and it shot out everywhere and soaked a 3-4 foot radius from the gas tank. this last time i filled up it sprayed a fine mist everywhere and it spilled all down the side of the vehicle. *tr
After filling fuel tank a lot of fuel sprays out of top of filler neck and spills down the side of the vehicle. sometimes it sprays out a few feet away and can get all over you. it happens every time the tank is filled up. *tr there is a recall for this exact problem with the 2005 model but not one for the 2006 model.
After gas pump shut off automatically, a large amount of gas came out of the filler port soaking me. this is the first time this happened. *tr
When filling with gas to capacity fuel sprays out of the gas tank all over the car, the ground and me. obvious safety and environmental hazard. *tr
Every time i refuel, gas comes squirting out of my tank. there is now lumps and bumps on the body of my car now under the gas tank. i have to keep checking my gas gauge while re fueling so this does not happen. *tr
I was filling my car and once it was filled the gas forcefully came back out of the tank and covered my coat pants and shoes. i am so angry, this has happened on other time that i completely filled my tank. the gas should not be coming back out of the tank. # 1 - i am now covered in gas, this is a huge safety issue, # gas is all over the side of my vehicle, huge safety issue, #3 gas is all over the ground at the service station, huge safety issue. this problem has been recalled in the 2005 dodge durango and i feel that my car is experiencing the same issues. i think that if dodge does not want a law suit they would fix the problem. *tr
I bought my dodge durango used in 2010 and everytime i fill my gas tank up and the gas pump shuts off from a full tank, the gas comes gushing out of the fuel neck. there has been recalls on previous years but none on 2006. doesn't make any sense. there are multiple people filing complaints but no recalls? this causes damage to paint, clothes, people standing in the way without the knowledge it happens. does it take an actual injury or fire before something is done? its ridiculous and something needs to be done!!! i don't have the money to fix it and it is clearly a defect from the factory. hopefully something is done so dodge owners can continue to love the cars they bought. *tr
I have owned this vehicle one week, filled the fuel tank twice and had the same issue on both fill ups. when the fuel tank is full and backs up to the nozzle to shut it off, the fuel does not shut off and sprays at least 2 pints of fuel on the vehicle and the nozzle and myself. this has happened at two different fuel stations. *tr
Like every one of this type vehicle from chrysler every time you fuel up it shuts the pump off then spews a couple cups of gas back out onto who ever is there or onto the ground. i know you know about this and have done absolutely nothing about it. why. you recalled a few in 2005 and in research on line you can see nothing good happened. it is time to fix it now. *tr
Gas shoots out of filler neck after filling with fuel. *tr.... updated 06117/16 *bf
I was pumping gas. it got to about 1.7 gallons and then the gas nozzle clicked and then gas shot out of my gas tank with my child standing beside the gas tank. if he was any closer it could've got in his eyes! *tr
Every time that i attempt to fill the gas tank, gasoline sprays out of the tank all over me. this was never a problem until the vehicle hit 60,000 miles. the problem started a few months ago and happens every time that i try to fill the tank up. the only solution is to limit the amount of gasoline that i put into the tank. there is approximately a quart or more of gas that sprays everywhere. i am going to contact the dealership tomorrow to see what type of remediation is available. this is a major safety and environmental hazard. we are supposed to be limiting gasoline emissions, so i am fairly certain that gasoline spraying all over the person pumping the gas as well as over the ground is a hazard. i have researched this online and see that more that just the 2005 is affected. i think that the dodge dealerships should have to check each durango from 2005 until when the problem was corrected. if any are affected, they should have to fix those that are a problem. *tr
Refueling the gas pump shuts off and then a large amount of gas sprays out the tank all over the gas pump handle, and down the car. about 2 cups of gas spew out almost every time we fill up - even if pumping slowly. this is a new problem (had the car since new in 2006) and just started last month. this should be recalled or at least fixed as it is very dangerous for my family sitting in the car as i refill, and dangerous in many other ways! *tr
Fill the gas tank and when stopped filling a large amount of gas backflows out of tank onto the ground and person pumping gas! this is a major hazard both for the person and the environment. took to dodge dealer and they said this has happened a lot and only way to fix is to replace gas tank which is very expensive. called dodge and they refuse to cooperate saying they never heard of this problem before must be the way i pump gas! this has happened everytime i fill gas. very annoying and hazardous!! *tr
I have a 2006 dodge durango, when filling the fuel tank gas spews out of the filler neck when approaching full. i have researched this problem and have found that there was a recall on numerous chrysler makes and models, indicating the problem is with a faulty inlet check valve in the fuel tank. only certain specific vin numbers are covered under the recall despite the fact that thousands of documented complaints have been recorded. chrysler has denied that this is an ongoing manufacture defect, i assume to keep from having to spend potentially millions of dollars to correct the problem. this not only a fire hazard, but an environmental hazard a well. please take the appropriate steps to require the chrysler corporation to include any vehicles with this defect in an updated recall. thank you *tr
Fuel spit back. as many others have stated this should be a safety issue not to mention an environmental one. how can this be a user problem when it is clearly a malfunction of parts probably the same as the 2005 recall. i am sending an email to chrysler and the epa see who comes back first. *tr
I just bought a 2006 dodge durango on 11/2/2012 and went to the gas station to fill it up and it over flowed about a 1/4 of a tank of gas on the ground and down the side of the truck. i first thought maybe i didn't have it all the way in the gas tank. but then i gassed up again on the 10th of november 2012 and it did it again. i am really upset about this issue. dodge should have a recall on this. if something happens to any of my family we will be suing dodge!!!!! i am surprised no one has been hurt yet. this is dangerous!!! i love my truck but hate that there isn't anything being done about this issue!!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact state that after refueling, the fuel would spew back out without warning. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the mechanic stated that the tank filler had malfunctioned and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in recall nhtsa campaign number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline). the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Every gas fill my 2006 dodge durango spits back a lot of gas. i have tried different gas stations and the problem is constant whereever i go. help! *tr
When i fuel my vehicle the fuel spills back onto me. if i stand away it goes onto the ground. when i contacted dodge they stated the current recall does not include my vehicle. this will at some point cause a fire and seriously injure or kill the person filling the vehicle. dodge has had an issue with this on model years 2005-2008 (which includes my vehicle year) from what i have found, but fails to correct the problem with my vin. *tr
While fueling the car at the gas station i keep continuing to have back-flow of gas propelling out of the fill spout when filling up. it is happening every-time and i think this is not a safe thing to have gas coming flying back out and getting over the ground & myself. this is a real safety hazard. i have found there is a lot of issues with the 2005 models which have a recall and now the 2006-2008 models have a service bulletin if manufactured after feb 20006 & are having the same problem. my vehicle vin is not covered but has the same exact problem. *tr
Over the last 12 and 1/2 months, it has been an issue with filling the gas tank. each time that i fill up my tank, the gas will either spill back out from under the car, spout out like it is spraying in the air or it will just come back out and roll down the sides of the truck. this has become a continuing issue and when i called the dodge place within my area, they claimed to not know of this being a problem or a recall. but as i started my research, i located many people in my same predicament. *tr
Each time i fuel, once the tank is full, it spews/gurgles a large amount of fuel back out of the filler neck. it happens at every kind of pump, and it happens whether i use the auto shut off or if i control the flow and slow it to a trickle. it still happens once the tank gets close to full. each time i fuel, i spill at least 1-3 quarts of fuel onto the ground. this is very harmful to the enviornment, a waste of my money, and a safety issue. i have owned many new and old vehicles, and never in my life, have i experienced a problem fueling my car. this is a known problem from dodge, because they recalled the 2005 durango for this very problem. so why fix the 2005's and not the 2006???? *tr
Upon filling fuel tank gas will emit from the filling area. happens at all gas stations no matter the filling speed. i understand there is a recall for the 2005 model but why not the 2006? *tr
Filling gas tank. when the pump kicks off at full i get gas kicking back out of tank. actually its alot of gas all over side of vehicle and ground. if im holding gas nozzle i get gas on my arm. i just bought this vehicle and don't know if previous owner made complaints. this happens each time i fill tank. *tr
The last two times that i have filled up my durango several ounces of gas will come spewing out of the tank just before it shuts off. i'm afraid this could cause quite the fire if a spark ignites it. *tr
While fueling our 2006 dodge durango limited when the vehicle tank became full the fuel nozzle on the pumped kicked off, but then fuel began spewing out of the vehicle fueling spout due to an apparent failure of the tank valve flap that is supposed to prevent this occurrence. approximately 1/4 to 1/2 of a gallon of gas spews out each time this happens, mostly on the car, but also on mine or my wife's hands and shoes. this is probably the 90-100th time this has happened to our vehicle since we purchased it brand new in late 2006, and there are many other 2006 durango owners on this site and the dodge durango clubs web sites that complain of the same failure. this is unacceptable. the 2005 durango was recalled for the same failure, but the 2006 has not been addressed. it should not take a fire or someone getting hurt or killed to get this corrected. we paid a lot of money for this vehicle new for this occurrence to happen every time we fill the tank up. the dealership ignores the issue, and chrysler wants me to pay to have it investigated, and may refund me if it is found to be a faulty part. i cannot afford the $600 the dealership wants to do this work (draining and removing the tank). someone needs to take a hard look at this issue and help us out with it before someone gets hurt or a fire is caused by it. *tr
When the gas tank is full, the dodge durango spits gasoline out and spills it all over the vehicle, the ground, and anyone who happens to be near the pump. this has happened from day one of ownership of the vehicle and happens each and every time the vehicle is fueled. drenching a motor vehicle operator in gasoline every time they fill the gas tank is caustic to the individual and dangerous to those breathing the fumes inside the vehicle. *tr
Was pumping fuel and the nozzle clicked off and immediately after fuel came splashing out of the tank. *tr
When i try to fill up my fuel tank, when the pump stops, gas is expelled out of my tank and spills all over the car and ground. the fuel is expelled with some force. *tr
While filling up with gas, gas started spewing out of the tank. i was covered head to toe in gas and it was flowing down the pavement at the gas station. what if someone had discarded a lit cigarette? i have since discovered that this is an issue with a lot of the dodge durango's. it should be recalled! it has happened 4 times since then. *tr
Literally every singe time i fill the vehicle up, gasoline erupts from the tank, sprays everywhere, probably sprays a full yard away from the vehicle. the fuel spray has rusted out the fender below the fuel door. *tr
Fuel overflow problems. gas spews out everywhere if tank is filled all the way up. *tr
Gas spewed all over me and my vehicle (while pumping gas) after the tank reached full. it has done it every time i've filled it up since purchasing the vehicle. *tr
Fuel spit back while refueling from fuel filler tube has happened at several different locations and times. *tr
Interior lights never go off and has a recall. the dealership tells me it takes seven days to get the part and have it programmed. this is unacceptable since this is my only transportation. this vehicle also has three other recalls that the dealership didn't tell me about. i think they are making this difficult so that customers will not get their recalls done. there is also a recall on a suspension part that could cause an crash- wipers and lights- and filling the gas tank is a royal pain in the ........ the fuel spits back out at you before your tank is full. these are all safety hazards that dodge needs to address with no cost or inconvenience for the owner. if these recalls are not repaired there is a reasonable chance that life threatening events could occur. not sure why the dodge company allows these dealerships to do this to their customer. i suggest that every person who has had problems complain to the company as well as this site ------- may be someone will do something. *tr
When filling up the gas tank on this vehicle the gasoline spilled over and out of the gas tank. it has done that almost everytime i try to fill this durango up at the gas station.
At every fuel fill up regardless of the gas station, the fuel pump shuts off and fuel spills all over the ground and down the side of the truck. *tr
This durango had spewed gas during fill up ever since purchased 11/2006, so i just tried to be careful when filling. april 2012, i had some rust fixed around the rear wheel area on the gas tank side. did not really think too much about it at the time. 1/29/14 i had an inlet check valve replaced at the dealership due to notification from chrysler and they said this could be a safety issue. thought then that this defect is probably what caused my rust issue but i had had that fixed so did not think anything about it....until it started to rust again in the same area. this is a without a doubt caused by the faulty inlet check valve. i believe chrysler intentionally did not notify their clients until the 100,000 mile rust warranty was up. they will not stand behind the resulting damage from the faulty inlet check valve.
