The gas tank overfills when filling the tank. when i fill the tank at the gas station the pump will not shut off until after the tank overflows onto the vehicle and the ground.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. while refueling the vehicle at a fuel station, the pump shut off and the fuel rapidly spewed out all over the ground. the contact stated that the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
Every time i go to fill my 2006 dodge durango slt it will fill and the gas pump will stop and turn off but then the truck will spit fuel back out. the vehicle was in park and a gas station everytime. please email me @ [xxx] or call @ [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt
Every time i go to fill the tank while the car is in park at a gas station the pump will stop cause the truck is full and then the truck will spit fuel back out.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. while the contact was pumping fuel into the vehicle, the fuel sensor on the tank did not work. as a result, fuel overflowed from the fuel tank opening. the contact stated that the failure began on approximately june 15, 2018. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 190,000.
When filling up on gasoline it will over flow out of the vehicle through the filler tube. similar to the other recall possibly the same issue that affected 2005 models
Fuel spills out when fueling every time.
Fuel gushing out when filling up tank.
Leaking large amounts of fuel overflow when at gas station filling up gas tank.
Fuel overflows when filling up
Leaking massive fuel on fill ups each time. done this forever. rusting in area where happens badly.
There was indeed a recall for the 2005 and 2006 model years of my vehicle from chrysler for a fuel safety issue of massive amounts of fuel spilling out of the tank during fuel ups. they acknowledge, the recall was cut off exactly one day prior to this particular vehicle's manufacturing date. the part identified was a fault with the fuel inlet check valve. dodge identified the only recourse for this vehicle is to petition the nhtsa and hope they recall it to replace it by dodge, or pay for a repair myself out of pocket for a known and acknowledged defect. this is a major safety hazard with the vehicle and i am noticing the same issue on all dodge durangos i observe on the road now, with rusty quarter panels due to fuel spill and saturation issues in the same spot.
During fuel up it over spills out a lot of fuel each time at the gas station. i see there were recalls for the prior years of the same vehicle. this problem has identical symptoms.
Hil adding gas, the fuel overflow does not shut off when full. gas spills out of the tube and runs down the side of the durango and onto the ground. there is considerable rusting under the fill tube. i purchased thsi vehicle 4 years ago and it has always done this. the rust area had been repaired prior to me purchasing so i am assuming this has happened before my ownership as well.
My car has a very bad hesitation upon acceleration and shutters when the pedal is to the floor. the code i'm getting is a dealer part only and i've found that 4 out of five dodge durango or chrysler aspen have had this issue. this has been a very expensive trial and error process. my sister who owns a 2008 aspen just replaced the same part i need to replace for almost 1,000 dollars and that's not the only time i've heard of this common issue with the solenoids from this hemi engine. it's not allows all cylinders to work because this faulty part is malfunctioning. please recall this part so i'm sure 75% of the owners can finally have a reliable vehicle and not get stranded like others i'm sure that have had this issue.
2006 dodge durango ecm fail 2006 dodge durango fuel overspills
The fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve is not fully closing at the end of refueling. this allows some fuel to escape from the vehicle filler neck. consequencesfuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. when refueling at a gas station
When fueling the gas tank will burp out gas when it is full and spray all over you.
This incident has occured twice on me since purchase of a used 2006 durango. on 11/20/16 i stop at gas station to fill the durango up with gas. i place the nozzel into gas tank select my grade of gas & put nozzle into auto fill. upon tank becoming full of gas the gas nozzel shut off & afterwards gas began to spewed out of tank, sometime with high pressure & sometimes in low pressure spray. gas continued to flow out of tank for about 6 seconds onto the ground. vehical was stationary at the fuel pump.
I can not put gas in the tank. the fuel neck was replaced twice because of the recall. that is not my problem. very little gas goes in when you engage the fuel pump at the gas station maybe 10 or 12 ounces the the pump clicks off and stops filling. i try it again then slowly put gas in and the fill neck gets full because the tank will not let the gas in and it spits out the fill opening and on the car and ground. i was at costco and the attendant saw my problem and said i had to leave until i get the issue fixed. i was endangering others. i took it to doge were i have my work done and the two fill necks replaced and they said the tank is bad. it needs replaced. at the tune of $1200.00 plus cost. more people than me have experienced this problem and i can not drive the car without gas. i had another mechanic check it out and said inside of the plastic tank that has a liner in it is coming apart inside which you can not repair caused from the ethonal content in gas has caused this issue. the liner is causing the flap inside the opening of the gas tank that the fuel inlet is attached to not to open and allow fuel to go in the tank. the car is too old to have to put this kind of cash in it when it is apearant that it is a defect in the tank which from on line says it is made in china. again a bad combination china really!!!. i have already put a few thousand in it for transmission dip stick rust off in the check tube ,oil leaks ,trans slipping ,rear end leaking break calipers, and the list goes on. i have dodge's since 2000 and dodge has me as a second class citizen. i had 2000 intrepid 2 dodge grand caravans and the durango. help please.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. while the vehicle was stationary, the fuel tank spilled fuel onto the ground. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 117,000.
I am experiencing a problem with the engine cutting off in full drive situations, all of sudden my check engine light pops up and that's my pre warning that my truck is getting ready to turn off. it is hesitant sometimes and waits till i am complete stop or sometimes it totally shuts down while driving in traffic. very scary.
The fuel tank check valve has completely failed just like thousands of other durangos. there is significant (12-16 ounces) gas blowback when the fuel reaches a near full level during refueling. i have tried stopping the pump several times to allow the fuel to settle, different brands of gas and different filler handle positions. the only thing that can prevent this is not filling the tank more than 3/4 full.
When filling with fuel to full capacity, it spews fuel out on my clothes and shoes and down the side of the durango. it does not matter what fuel station i go to, it does the same thing.
When filling the fuel tank gas spews out the fill port once the tank is full
When refueling the vehicle, fuel will spew from the filler inlet when the gas pump stops filling. i understand this was a recall on the 2005 model. dodge will not address this, stating that my vehicle is out of warranty.
The gasoline spews out at you before the gas tank is full. so if you are unaware, not paying attention, or just completely forget you end up in a bath of gasoline. so now possibly your shoes clothes and hands have gas on them. hopefully you don't plan on lighting a cigarette afterward. (i don't smoke) but i do care not to wear gasoline or have to breathe the fumes in my really nice mopar. super problematic for the owners afflicted with this problem i hope chrysler does the right thing and recalls the affected vehicles.
Bought a used. 2006 dodge durango. first time wife filled tank fuel erupted from fill spout covering her head to foot in gas. next week i tried filling tank. again fuel spewed from the filler neck. the pump shuts off automatically then boom. 1/2 to 1 gallons of gasoline is on the ground, side of vehicle and myself. we can only put partial tanks of gas in at a time. as with all refueling trips the vehicle was parked, engine off, sitting beside the pump. the 2005 durangos were recalled. why not this year also. dealer claims warranty work was completed and will only look at vehicle if they charge a fee. this is a vehicle " checked out " by dealer before sale. apparently they don't care about our safety or the hazard to the environment when close to a gallon in fuel gets dumped on the ground every time it's filled.
Upon filling the vehicle with fuel it will spit back a considerable amount of fuel after pumping has stopped full. its amazing that a recall was issued for the 2005 durango for this problem and not the 2006. a quick google search shows the scale of the continued fueling problem on durangos. this problem has been occurring over the past 2 years at multiple gas stations.
Gasoline overflows from filler neck when filling fuel tank. a considerable amount of gasoline overflows after gasoline pump shuts off.
Each time i fill up my gas tank when the pump kicks off gas spills out of the tank onto the ground. the car was parked and off
Each time i fill up my gas tank when the pump kicks off gas spills out of the tank onto the ground. dodge says they are aware of the problem but because my vehicle is listed as "restricted" in their data base they cant tell me exactly what restricted means only that it may have been classified as a total loss at some point. i purchased the vehicle used but had no issues registering it or insuring it in nj. dodge says there is a lifetime warranty on this problem but because it is not a recall they refuse to make the repair for me because of my vehicles "restricted" status so i guess if i am refueling and gas spills out and catches the place on fire dodge wont care i would like to file a complaint this should be a recall and not just a warranty issue there is a significant chance of someone getting severely burned or killed if this spill happens near an ignition source. please advise me of my next course of action.
As i braked to park the durango, the engine abruptly stalled. not sure why it stalled, but i know there was a problem with the 2004-2005 durangos where the engine would stall during sharp turns while braking.
When i fill the gas tank, the pump does not automatically shut off and gasoline spews all over the place. i just purchased this car less than a week ago and have had it happen every time i fill it up.
When i took my vehicle in for a recall i was informed that the right manifold studs were broken and the repair was going to cost $765.00. i took the vehicle into my regular mechanic to determine if i was being informed correctly. he advised that the chrysler dealer ship did not remove the heat shield to verify that this was actually the issue. the mechanic mentioned he could determine this by looking at the fasteners of the heat shield. the mechanic said that this happens a lot to chrysler products. he said that is why they did not need to remove the heat shield. when the studs are broken it allow the exhaust system to leak. my question is if this is a regular problem with chrysler why is there not a recall. i called chrysler to see what they would do about paying for a repair for a constant issue. they said there has not been many problems of this nature. can this be investigated by having chrysler mail out s survey to actually determine if this is a material defect in their studs?
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. while operating the vehicle, the power train erroneously switched to the 4 wheel drive low position and the traction control and 4 wheel drive sensor lights illuminated. while stuck in the 4 wheel drive position, the vehicle became very difficult to steer and failed to accelerate normally. when refueling the vehicle, fuel would spew out of the filler neck. the cause of the failures was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 135,000.
I went to fuel up my car, when it reached full, fuel started spitting out of the tank. it has done this on numerous occasions. *tr
Gasoline overflows from filler neck when filling fuel tank. a considerable amount of gasoline overflows after gasoline pump shuts off.
Every time i get gas the pump clicks off as full, then a bunch of gas comes gushing out and gets all over the car/ground/me. it has been happening for several years and it is not only a fire hazard, but also an environmental hazard. *tr
I am constantly having to watch as i fill my tank on this car, because their is no way of knowing when the gas will spill out onto my car. the constant overflow has effected the paint near the gas tank as well as run under the body of this car. this is an issue which no one wants to address but i hope soon it will be resolved. it is a hazard to the owner and those who are near us when we attempt to fill our car. *tr
This vehicle had a fuel overflow problem. chrysler has a lifetime warranty on fixing this. the problem is that the gas that was continuously overflowing on fill-up has caused the vehicle to rust under the gas tank. chrysler is saying this is not covered. also on the lift gate under the silver piece above the handle there is rust forming from dripping on each side of this silver piece. i believe this is a manufacture defect, but chrysler is saying none of this is covered. *tr
After buying the vehicle in 2009, it began shutting off when i decelerated for stops or turns. no engine light warning. in 2009, took it to the dealership 4 times. no help. issues have continued. took to dealership in 2010 3-4 times for same issue. seems to shut off more in winter than summer but is very random. in 2011, more exploratory work was completed at dealership. is there a lemon law? in 2012, i had someone else tinker on it. still no assistance. the issues are less annoying now and becoming dangerous as it now shuts off at any time, at any speed, in any weather. i've tried new brakes, couple of new batteries, new computer chip, complete visual overall with computer assistance at dealership. once when check engine light came on, o'reily's computer said that the sensor box had moisture in it. dealership found no such evidence. all maintenance like oil changes are up-to-date. in 2013 in addition to the shutting off, there is a bumping when the brakes are applied and no one can contribute that issue to anything either! no help. scared to drive but no $$ get a new one. i feel abandoned with a lemon. *tr
This is definitely a public safety hazard. i bought my used dodge durango last october 2014. every time i fill my gas tank up,the gas pump shuts off from a full tank of gas on my vehicle, then the gas comes gushing back out of the fuel neck of the durango's gas tank. there has been recalls on previous years but none on 2006. there are multiple people filing complaints but no recalls? this causes damage to the automobile paint, clothes, people and the environment. however, most concerning is the safety hazard of a potential fire or explosion from the overflowed gas and fumes happening around multiple cars, people and gas pumps at gas stations when 2006 dodge durango owners fill up their vehicles. this is not a problem caused by any owner. this is a mechanical defect in the dodge durango filler tube valve in the gas tanks. please help to get this problem corrected by the dodge company. *tr
When refueling the vehicle and filling the tank to full or near full, when the fuel nozzle shuts off automatically, fuel will spray out of the filler neck all over the side of the vehicle and all over the ground and the driver. approximately 1/3 to 1/2 gallon of fuel will be expelled from the tank. this started after i had about 75000 miles on the vehicle. it will happen every time i fill the car up. as a result i can only fill the tank about 3/4 full. the fuel has destroyed the paint on the side of the car. i have had to drive 20 miles home soaked in gasoline after this has happened. i'm glad no one flipped a cigarette in my direction!
Spit back when fueling. *tr
The first time i filled up a newly purchased used dodge durango gas exploded out of the filler neck splashing onto my hand and into my face. i had to dash into the restroom and flush gas out of my eyes. *tr
Vehicle spits out gas while refueling.
1996 dodge durango. i have 2006 dodge durango limited 5.7 liter hemi - i bought used car salesman it in december 2012. in february of 214 we started having a problem with the engine cutting off while driving after reading several different internet forums i discovered the engine failure with my dodge durango was a common problem. like others i have taken it in to our mechanic's because the check engine light had come on. we always got oil changes and regular maintenance done at our mechanic's because we thought they would know the car best and be able to inform us of any important recalls or possible problems. i asked him about the problem, he in turned told me that he knew about the dodge durango engine failure problem. he also said dodge knows about it, but there has been no recall for this problem. i am afraid that someone is going to get killed on the road because the engine turns off at any time. it is a same that dodge is pulling the same thing as general motors has done. pleaase lets fix this before someone does get killed. so i am here with my 2006 dodge durango parked in my drive just waiting for recall. it is getting closer because yesterday they just recalled the 2005,2006,2007 jeep because chrysler said on tuesday that it was recalling an undisclosed number of older jeep s.u.v.s to correct an ignition-related stalling problem similar to the deadly flaw that has consumed general motors this year. how also owns dodge so i know they know about the dodges problems. at this point my senator richard blumenthal office can not do a thing, because i have not been hurt or killed as of yet. it feels like. *tr
Every time i fill up, once the gas pump clicks off, gas spews from the fuel fill area. *js
I am having fuel fillig problems with the gas overflowing when i fill it its been about 43 years i did not know who to tell until now but online research point s a possible answer which is "the fuel overflow problem is caused by the fuel tank filler check valve" it also consume a lot of gas just going down the street.
