I have a 2005 dodge durango that was manufactured 03/2005. i have a fuel tank that is malfunctioning just like what was referenced in your case #: 09v003000. i have been in contact with the local dealership and the national dodge website and they tell me that the recall does not effect my vehicle. however, the recall is for the exact same thing. they are wanting 400 to replace this tank. i feel that it is a huge hazard. everytime i get gas it spits back at me and all over the ground some times a very large amount. *tr

Fuel sprays out of filler neck when gas tank is full when fueling. approximately 1/4 gallon. *tr
I bought this vehicle used back in 2009. i am in the auto industry and bought from a reputable dealer and checked history for any crashes. also no signs of any body repair or anything being not original in the fuel system. i like many others cannot fill up my fuel tank without getting sprayed with gasoline! anytime the gas station pump is allowed to shut itself off it sprays at least a half gallon of fuel out. this is at every gas station i have ever gone to. that means every time i have filled up in the last 2.5 years has given me the hazard of a significant fuel spill! this has been an ongoing problem. in the past was told by dealerships that my vin was not covered under the current recall but that it may be expanded and to just be patient. searching on the internet and many forums it is clear there are many people out there with the same issue that is not under the current recall. this recall should probably be reviewed and expanded to cover all of the affected vehicles. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. whenever the gas tank becomes full, gasoline will began to pour back out of the tank. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the pressure relief valve needed to be replaced. the current and failure mileages were 35,057.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact received a recall notice on may 26, 2009 regarding nhtsa campaign id number 09v003000. the recall letter stated that the dealers would order the parts and have them available in case a repair was needed. the dealer stated that they had the option of ordering the parts upon inspection of the vehicle. the contact was not satisfied with the inconvenience of the nearest dealer being one hour away. if she needed the part, she would have to drive back and forth. there had been no failure to date. updated 08/04/09 *bf updated 08/06/09.*jb
When filling tank with fuel, the pump will click off when "full". then approximately 0.5 sec after pump kick off fuel will flow out from around pump nozzle and overflow hole in the pump handle boot. when it first occurred it was very little fuel. now it will spill out approximately 2 cups of fuel. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that gasoline fuel would spew back out onto the ground when refueling the vehicle. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer offered any assistance when contacted since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). no repairs were performed. the current mileage was 95,000 and the failure mileage was 58,000.
2005 dodge durango for the past two years everytime i fill it up with gas, about a gallon or so shoots back out of the tank because their is a faulty part. i have called dodge several times and they keep telling that my vehicle isn't in the recall; but if the part had been made in a different factory that had the defect issues then it would be eligible for a recall. i am sick and tired of wasting my money on the gas that keeps shooting out of it and washing my vehicle off every time i fill up. i have talked to other 2005 and 2006 durango owners and they are having the same problem. any suggestions? *tr
2005 dodge durango slt/hemi. when filling the gas tank, the pump handle will stop, then the tank fills and about 1 or 2 cups of gasoline blows out of the tank through the filler neck onto me, the side of the vehicle and the ground. your website shows a recall for this, however dodge and the dealerships say it is not for my vehicle. i have not had it repaired yet due to the cost. i have been covered in gasoline when this happens. this recall needs to be expanded to my vehicle as well. the gas tank recalls are exactly what is going on w/ my vehicle. i have been told by several mechanics that this is an issue. in addition to safety a fuel spill is not legal and must be cleaned. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. he received recall campaign notice number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for repair. however, the recall remedy was not performed due to the unavailability of the part required for the repair. the authorized dealer was notified on two separate occasions regarding the part being on back order. no repairs have been made. the current mileage was 60,000.
I own a 2005 dodge durango and every time i fill up with gas, gas sprays out of the gas filler neck once the gas pump has shut off. gas is sprayed out all over the ground, the vehicle and me, if i'm not careful. dodge states it's my problem to fix. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that while refueling, fuel was ejected out of the filler neck, soiling the contact and the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline :storage:tank assembly). the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000. updated 1/30/13 *cn
I have the fuel spit back issue addressed in chrysler recall 05v-034, even though my truck was built in 3-05, after the supposed date of the manufacturing fix. this is very dangerous as my gas tank spews gasoline when filled. since my vin is after the date of their expanded recall the dealer will not fix under the recall. *tr
This is regarding the latest safety recall notice h45 to my 2005 dodge durango suv to the fuel tank inlet check valve. since receiving this notice i have taken my car to dodge dealer in mount airy, maryland, a total of six times, which does not include visits to order parts and return when the part was received, approximately twelve time, i've been to this dealer. i have been very patient trying to work with dodge, but i am losing patience, as well as any confidence in chryslers statement 'we're sorry for any inconvenience, but we are sincerely concerned about your safety' as stated in their notice. each time they have worked on my car, and i fill the tank, it continues to spew gas all over me, my car, the ground, until one day given the situation, gas fumes igniting and starting a critical mishap. this is a dangerous situation and chrysler refuses to address, on my behalf. after my third visit, i attempted to contact chrysler at 800-853-1403, with my frustrations, and was told there was nothing they could do, and i needed to work with my dealer in mt. airy to resolve the problem. this latest visit, october 19, 2009, where they supposedly replaced the entire tank, has left me with additional problems. the engine light stays on if fuel is below a quarter of a tank (which has never occurred before) and the odometer statement (where the numbers are) reads 'gascap', even though i replace the gas cap no differently than i have for the past five years. i am very concerned about my safety as well as anyone that happens to be around me at the time of fill-up. please advise me on anything that i can do at this point. i am speaking with an attorney, but don't feel that i should have to go this route. your prompt reply is requested. *tr
Every time we fill up the fuel tank the gasoline will splash back/spill out when the service pump 'clicks' off. issue started to occur at approximately 70000 miles. vehicle is built after existing recalls (campaign id numbers: 09v003000 & 05v034000) -- vehicle build date 3-4-05'. *tr
I have a 2005 dodge durango vin#[xxx] built 09/04 that when i fill up the gas tank gasoline spits back before the pump shuts off. there is a chrysler recall (e01 and h45) and my vehicle was manufactured during the recall dates. chrysler continues to deny that the vehicle is not part of the recall but has offered a "good will replacement" which costs me $100 out of my pocket. my chrysler case/reference # is [xxx] . the local dealer verified that the defect with the tank was the same as the recall. the nhtsa action # is rq08005. there is a high potential of fire, property damage, and death or injury to who ever is near the vehicle while fueling. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
At the conclusion of filling my vehicle with gasoline following the gas pump nozzle automatic shut off, approximately 8 ounces of gasoline spews from the fill nozzle onto the ground. this began occurring 9 months ago. prior to that time it never occurred. i have have driven the vehicle since it was new. this is not in intermittent occurrence. once it began exhibiting this behavior, it does it consistently every time the tank is filled.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango sle. the contact stated whenever she would refill the vehicle would gasoline; the fuel would spew back out from the filler valve. in addition, the vehicle would also exhibit an abnormal increase in engine rpms and would intermittently stall. the contact replaced the gas cap, battery, alternator, and the idle sensors but to no avail. the contact was able to locate nhtsa campaign id number: 09v00300 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly) but when contacting the manufacturer, she was told her vin was not included in the recall. the manufacturer advised taking the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing and stated they would assist with partial repair costs. the vehicle was not yet repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 90,233.
Summary: fuel escapes from vehicle at the end of refueling. consequence: fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. remedy requested: have dealer replace the fuel tank assembly free of charge, as in the recall of the same description for other 2005 dodge durangos - nhtsa campaign id #09v003000, chrysler recall #h45. previously made a few attempts to get chrysler dealer in burlington, nj to effect repair, but customer service manager [xxx]claimed he couldn't duplicate problem. i was not with the vehicle when he allegedly attempted to duplicate problem. [xxx] was untruthful when i confronted him last year about chrysler corporate knowing of the problem and that it should be repaired at no charge to customer. no that i've found the nhtsa website info and the h45 recall info, i made another attempt: i contacted chrysler. case manager "[xxx]assigned me case #[xxx] on april 25, 2011, but told me on april 28, 2011 that i would have to pay a copay for the repair. i objected to a copay, and told him that i would be contacting nhtsa. this complaint is that contact. can you assist me? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. when the contact attempted to add fuel to the fuel tank, he noticed that the fuel began flowing out of the gas tank onto the side of the vehicle. the dealer informed the contact that the fuel tank needed to be replaced along with the inlet check valve. there were no prior warnings. the current and failure mileages were 52,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly) and immediately called the dealer. a technician concluded that the fuel tank inlet check valve failed. when placing gasoline into the tank, fuel escapes from the vehicle through the filler neck at the end of refueling. as a consequence, fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. the failure still persists. the failure and current mileages were 60,000.
Gasoline spewing from the gas tank of my 2005 dodge durango could potentially cause burns and/or skin reactions. this needs to be a recall on all vehicles that have had this problem, not just a select few according to the vin. *tr
Every time the fuel tank is filled on my 2005 dodge durango fuel sprays or flows from the fuel neck. this is a vehicle i just purchased used and has done it every time i have filled it. the vehicle has no evidence of ever being in a collision or having any damage to the undercarriage. looking online i found a similar recall for the year and model but mine according to my local dealer is not included under the recall. nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000. *tr
Nhtsa recall # 09v003000 / 2005 dodge durango / my dodge durango has exhibited the same problems as vehicles covered under recall # 05v-034. the problem is related to fuel spilling out of the filler neck after the pump has shut off. i discovered that chrysler had expanded the recall to include additional vehicles built between 10/13 and 11/30/2004. the recall states that process modifications were implemented on 11/24/04 to address the spit back problem and they believe that the process changes would have been incorporated in all vehicles built at the assembly plant as of 11/30/04. i checked my vin number and the date the vehicle was manufactured (01/05), upon discovering it did not include vehicles built after 11/04, i contacted a local dealer and explained the problem i was encountering. contacted chrysler directly, after explaining the issue with the first level representative i was transferred to the next level (ref # 18546515). after discussing the issue in depth she finally agreed to have my local dealer evaluate the problem and if it was determined to be an issue with the fuel tank/check valve that chrysler would assist in paying for the repairs. she stated that if that was the issue the cost could be close to $1000 for the repair and i would be responsible for approximately $400. i insisted that if it was the same issue as covered in previous recalls that chrysler should cover the total cost of the repair. the dealer's invoice clearly states the problem was found to be the fuel tank check valve was not closing back. the dealer also stated that the diagnosis and repairs were exactly the same as covered under the recalls. they replaced the fuel tank, check valve and o-ring. my portion of the repair was $326. i feel chrysler should reimburse me for my out of pocket the repair. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. as soon as the contact fills his tank with fuel, gasoline sprays back on him. the vehicle has not been taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. the contact researched the failure online. the failure mileage was 91,000.updated 06/09/09. *lj updated 06/09/09.*jb
Related to nhtsa recall campaign 09v003000, nhtsa rq08005... my dodge durango - exactly same problem as described yet apparently not included in the recall. internet search leads me to believe that several hundreds of other durango owners have the same complaint. this has been an on-going problem over the last several months. *tr
Since purchasing the vehicle three years ago i have complained numerous times to the dealer, about gas spewing out of the filler tube when i fill the tank. chrysler has told me that my vehicle does not qualify for the safety recall because is was manufactured in july of 2005 and not a 2006 model. there are issues with 2004 and 2005 durangos and chrysler needs to expand the recall to cover these vehicles. having gas spew out of my tank is going to cause a fire. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)*tt
When i fill the gas tank gas comes pouring back out of the fill tube once the tank if full. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. when filling the gas tank, fuel will continue to pump even when the gas tank is full. as a result, fuel spillage occurs. the contact feels that this is a safety hazard because a fire could occur in the presence of an ignition source. she is in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. the manufacturer would not provide compensation because there were no current recalls. the failure mileage was 44,000 and current mileage was 44,300.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that fuel would "spit out" when she attempted to fill the fuel tank. the issue occurred every time she attempted to place fuel in the vehicle. the dealer stated that they needed to replace the gas tank and filler pipe at the cost of $815. the manufacturer informed her to take the vehicle to an approved dealer so that they could pay for the repair; however, they are not responding to her calls. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was approximately 55,540 and failure mileage was approximately 55,200.
I am sending this in due to the fact that chrysler hasn't tried to make things right with me. we tried to talk to them last april about a issue with my gas tank and it not closing like it should and that it was on a recall and when this was presented to them they pretty much wanted to make us help pay for it which upset me when we have the clip from the paper about the recall. it is terrible when i go to the gas station and i have to watch my gas tank and am nervous about it spraying all over me which it has done to me. and i am sorry but that is not okay and how wasteful is that and that is dangerous for it to be on the ground like thatwhen i start my vehicle. and like my husband if there would ever be a spark or someone smoking that would not be good for my situation. i could use some help with this problem and i feel like this is not good customer at all on chryslers part. i heard chrysler has bad customer service but to me this is really bad. i know that alot of car factories are struggling but this is not how to do good business and i will not buy anymore vehicles from them if they treat there customers poorly and unfairly. this is a serious problem and i feel they do not care. *tr
My 2005 dodge durango limited (hemi) spews about 1 quart of gas out of the filler tube every time i fill up with gas. dealer says my vin # ( mfg. date 3/05) is not covered by their 1st or 2nd recall. i called chrysler's customer care @ 1-800-853-1403 and was told although i appear to have the problem associated with the recall, they will not do anything because my vehicle now has 150,000 miles on it. the problem started approx. april 2009. i have learned to stand to the side when i fill up so i don't get drenched with gasoline when i fill up ! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge durango. the contact stated when filling the vehicle with gasoline and the pump would shut off, fuel would spew back out of the filler tank. the vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic which advised that the check valve had failed and allowing the fuel tank to overflow. the failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. while adding fuel to the gas tank he noticed that the gas would spill back out. he thought he was adding more fuel to the vehicle than it needed. six months later, he noticed that the failure occurred more frequently. he took the vehicle to the dealer for routine maintenance and they stated that the gas tank neck could be defective. he notified the manufacturer and they advised him that his vin was not included in recall 09v003000 fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly. the manufacturer also stated that he could take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed and they would pay for the repair, as long as he paid the deductible. the vehicle will be repaired by the dealer. the failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.
Fuel leakage out of the filler neck at the end of refueling. this happens fairly often when filling the gas tank of my 2005 dodge durango. gas spills out of the filler neck onto the side of the vehicle and the ground. note that recall campaigns 09v003000 and 05v034000 describe this issue exactly but chrysler says the recall does not apply to my vehicle. i brought my vehicle in to a dodge dealer and they diagnosed the issue as a faulty check valve. *tr
I own a 2005 dodge durango every time i fill the gas tank it spews gas out after the pump has shut off. now i know theirs a recall on this but chrysler tells me its not for my vin# [recall # with chrysler is h45] i want to know why it isn't covered for my vehicle? and its to the point that where the gas has spilled on the body of the vehicle its damaged the paint! *tr
2005 dodge durango, fuel spews from gas tank everytimei fill up, and it just dies intermittently,it also stutters as though it has bad gas when traveling at a slower rate of speed. i called dodge on the recall but of course mine is not included, they said had to have proof, so i plan to take a video next time. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that the filler inlet valve would not stop fuel from flowing into the fuel tank when refueling. the failure would cause gasoline fuel to be spilled out of the tank and onto the ground or the contact. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). the dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 59,000. updated 06/01/12
I have a 2005 dodge durango. i recently took to a certified chrysler dealership as i was having problems with the gas not shutting off when pumping. fuel spills everywhere, all over the vehicle and on the ground next to the pumps. as this is a safety hazard, as well as fire safety, the dealer recommended i get the gas tank replaced. they report never having this problem with durangos. i went home and researched this problem and found a recall for 2005 dodge durangos and found a recall for the exact same problem i am having. the recall is for vehicles manufactured from 10/13/2004-11/30/2004. my vehicle was manufactured on 12/1/2004, one day after the cut off for the recall. i called the company and they offered no assistance. this is an extremely dangerous situation as a spark could ignite the fuel spilled on the vehicle and the ground, and they refused to include my vehicle in the recall. *tr
The gas filler pipe automatic shutoff has never worked properly on my 2005 dodge durango since it was new. when the fuel tank is full, the gas pump shuts off, but the fuel washes back out of the tank and onto the ground. the dealer claimed it was fixed in a recall prior to my purchase in 2005 according to their "computer records". obviously, from my experience in filling the tank, the "recall fix" did not work--or, worse, the dealer did not do the fix as they claimed. spilling gasoline is dangerous--dodge has a responsibility to make this repair work, even if it takes another recall. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact smelled a strong odor of fuel outside the vehicle. in addition, there was an excessive amount of fuel spillage from the fuel tank. whenever the contact dispensed fuel into the fuel tank, fuel sprayed out of the tank. the fuel nozzle stopped when the tank was full with fuel continuously spraying out of the tank. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. there was a recall under the nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). the vin was excluded from the recall defect. the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time. the failure mileage was 31,000.
