Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact noticed that the bottom of her gasoline tank was covered with rust. the dealer advised the contact to have it repainted and offered no further assistance since there were no related recalls. the manufacturer did not offer any assistance either. no repairs were performed. the current mileage was approximately 71,000 and the failure mileages was approximately 65,000. the vin was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, gasoline would spew back from the filler tube and onto the contact. the contact located a recall pertaining to the failure for the fuel system under nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (gasoline:storage:tank assembly) but the contacts vehicle was not included in the recall. the contact stated the failure was a safety issue that could cause a fire and the manufacturer should be held responsible. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 76,700.

Fuel (approximately 1/4-1/2 gallon each event) sprays out of fuel tank filler neck during refueling when tank reaches full point. exact same problem as referenced in nhtsa campaign id 09v003000. however, dodge reports my vin is not one of the affected models included in the recall. initially thought it may have been a one-time fluke, but has since continued to eject fuel from the tank every time i refuel the tank upon reaching the full point during refuel. had no indications of any problems prior to first event; received no malfunction lights. after first event, noticed loud venting sound coming from tank approximately 5-10 minutes later while driving down the road - initially thought i had air quickly escaping from the driver's side rear tire, but realized it was coming from the tank. has not done this since. to date, i still have not received any malfunction lights or indications, other than the consistent fuel spill every time i fill up that will soon begin to eat into the paint if not remedied soon. i depend on this vehicle to make long-distance trips frequently, travelling through locations with no services, so not completely filling the fuel tank is not a safe or viable long-term option. vehicle now has 90,000 miles.

When filling the gas tank, gas will spray out of the tank. sometimes the pump will automatically shut off, other times it requires manual assistance. according to www.motortrend.com, there have been two recalls for this problem - one in 2005 and the other in 2009. when calling dodge, they state that those recalls may have been "vin specific" and they do not have any recalls in the system for my vehicle. *tr

When filling with fuel, the tank is not properly venting so when filling is complete it, 3 seconds later it forces fuels out of the filler neck and sprays fuel everywhere. *tr

Gas spits back every time it is filled. the dealer acknowledges it is a very well known and documented manufacturing fault, but is not authorized to repair it, as the vehicles' vin does not fall within the range specified by chrysler's last two recalls. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated when fuel was added to the vehicle at least a quart of gasoline spilled out. the contact did not have the vehicle inspected, but found nhtsa recall campaign id number: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap) and was told by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included. the failure mileage was unknown. the current mileage was 62,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that while refueling, fuel would leak out from the filler neck and spill onto the ground. the vehicle was inspected by the owner and he noticed that the valve needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified and informed him that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the failure mileage was approximately 48,000. the vin was unavailable. updated 09/28/2011 *ln *tr

When filling the gas tank with gasoline the gas spits back up out of the gas tank filler tube and all over the person filling up the gas tank. the dodge durango has been recalled for this exact same problem on feb 1, 2005 nhtsa campaign number: 05v034000. after numerous complaints chrysler on jan 6, 2009 nhtsa campaign number: 09v003000 expanded the recall and reported to the nhtsa that the problem was fixed in production and the nhtsa closed the case. well, chrysler did not fix the problem or the fix has failed. my durango was produced after the latest recall ending date and has the exact same problem. i have taken my durango to the dealer on sept 14, 2011 after reporting the problem to chrysler (case number 21324740). the dealer confirmed the problem. chrysler offered to replace the gas tank for $200.00. i declined the offer because i believe the recall should be expanded. this is a serious life / safety issue and should be brought to light! *tr

Overflowing gas at the end of fillup. the pump shuts off as it should, but then gas overflows out. we are not topping off - this happens with the first shutoff of the gas pump. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated the vehicle would stall intermittently. the gasoline would spill out of the vehicle while fuel was added without warning. the dealer made the contact aware of nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly), but the vin was not a part of the recall. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 125,000. updated 09/21/11*lj updated 2/23/12 *cn

At the end of fueling fuel gushes back from fuel filler receptical. this happens using pump set for auto cut off or manual operation. this occurs every time fueling is completed without stopping short of auto fuel cut off by the pump. this to me is a very serious safety issue as any source of ignition could cause a very serious accident. i have found many complaints about this problem with many different durango year models but only two seem to fall under their recalls, this problem is not related to any of the normally considered normal wear items but rather a system that should be reasonably considered to last the lifetime of the vehicle. this seems to be a widespread problem rather than just a few coustomer complaints. it also does not appear to be related to any time or mileage constraints. in light of the numerous complaints about this safety issue what relief could/should we expect reguarding this issue? *tt

My 2005 dodge durango began spitting gas back out after the pump has clicked off. approximately, 1/2 gallon is wasted, it on lands on the car, ground and myself. this occurs each and every time the car is fueled. dodge has a recall on the gasoline:storage:tank assembly recall for 2005 dodge durango's but my vin is not included. i have called dodge and they have informed me that i must pay a diagnostic fee, deductible and possibly a percentage of the cost. however, other 2005 durango's with this same issue were corrected/repaired at dodge's expense. *tr

2005 dodge durango (80,000) miles. gas over flows from gas tank take when filling. has happened numerous times. a real fire hazard ! 2005 dodge durango (34,000) miles. gas over flows from gas tank take when filling. has happened numerous times. a real fire hazard ! *tr

The fuel filler spits fuel back out of the tank while filling causing an overflow onto the truck, the ground, and the person filling the fuel tank. dodge has issued selective recalls for this same issue, but apparently there aren't enough complaints about my particular year to do anything about the problem. (according to dodge customer service) there are recalls for durango's both newer and older than mine for the same issue. apparently a health hazard and a fire hazard isn't a concern to dodge unless enough people complain...what exactly is that cutoff point? *js

2005 dodge durango (34,000) miles. gas over flows from gas tank take when filling. has happened numerous times. a real fire hazard ! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that as he refueled the vehicle, gasoline began spewing back from the filler tube once the fuel tank was full. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel valve was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted but did not offer any assistance stating that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 53,000. updated 05/03/11*lj updated 7/08/11

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that when she attempted to refuel the vehicle, gasoline would spill back out from the filler neck. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. no repairs were performed. the current mileage was 89,311. the failure mileage was unknown.

I have a 2005 dodge durango limited. i have a safety issue on the vehicle when i'm fueling the vehicle up and the gas pump safety switch clicks and shuts off the pump when the tank is full, fuel spews back out of the tank. this fuel spray can fly 2 to 3 feet in any direction depending on the fuel nozzle used. i called about this safety issue to a local dodge dealership and they told me my durango is not included in the recall even though there is a recall for that exact problem and i would have to pay for a new fuel tank to get it fixed. *tr

Fuel sometimes sprays out from the neck of tank (where pump goes into car) when fueling is complete if tank is pumped until full. i bought the vehicle used from a dealership in september 2009 and have had the problem about 6-12 times in the past year (i have added about 8,000 miles to the car over this time). i contacted the dealer as well was chrysler, who both stated that the vehicle is not covered under the existing recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact was refueling the vehicle as approximately one half gallon of gasoline began to spew back out from the filler tube and onto the contact. the contact stated that the failure would occur whenever the vehicle was refueled. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap) and stated that he was advised by the manufacturer that the recall work had already been performed on his vehicle. the contact also inquired about a second recall (nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000, fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly) but was advised by the dealer that his vehicle was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 59,500.

When i fill my 2005 dodge durango fuel tank, i get a splash back of fuel. this happens more than 90 percent of the time when i fill my tank. it does not occur when i refuel without filling the tank. i am aware of a recall(dated 2009-01-08) that covered this issue for 2005 dodge durango, but i was advised by my local dealer and by chrysler customer service that my vin was not included. i am told repair will cost me in excess of $800. my problem matches exactly that of the recall notice and feel i should not be required to pay for this extremely important repair. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that while refueling, fuel began to spill out from the fuel filler neck. a dealer was notified and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for a diagnosis. the vehicle was not yet taken in for diagnosis. the manufacturer was then notified, and the contact was informed that the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap) was no longer valid. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 92,000. updated 8/29/11 *cn updated 09/28/11

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that when he added gasoline to the fuel tank that the fuel would spill out of the tank. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer since they would have to drop the tank. they also advised him that his vin was not included in the recall nhtsa campaign id number (09v003000-fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 68,000 and the current mileage was approximately 75,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that whenever he added fuel to the vehicle the tank would overflow and fuel would spill on the ground. the check engine light and the gas cap light would both illuminate intermittently. the contact called the dealership and was told that the vehicle was not included in recalls 05v034000 and 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). the vehicle was not repaired when the complaint was filed. the contact called the manufacturer who gave him a case number but he was still awaiting a response. the current mileage was 34,320. the failure mileage was approximately 32,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact was refueling the vehicle when fuel began to spew back out from the filler tube. the failure began as an intermittent issue but soon progressed to the point where the failure occurred whenever the contact was refueling the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified and the contact was told that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, gasoline would immediately spill back out from the fuel tank. the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was refueled. the vehicle was neither inspected nor repaired for the failure. the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in either recall associated with the failure (nhtsa campaign id numbers: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap) and 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint and advised her to have the vehicle diagnosed by a local dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was approximately 113,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

2005 dodge durango: starting at about 80,000 miles, or about 6 months ago, whenever we topped off the fuel tank, gasoline would spurt back up out of the filler tube at the end of the fill when the pump kicked off. this is still happening every time we fill up the tank. filling up our other vehicle at the same pump does not reproduce the problem. filling up our durango at any pump reliably reproduces the problem. *tr

Fuel filler neck on vehicle, sprays gasoline during fill up- about 1- 2 cups each time. dodge dealer refuses to fix under the 2 recalls- chrysler has basically said tough. this is a dangerous and recurring problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the leak was coming from the inlet check valve. the contact inquired of nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly) but was advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 71,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

My 2005 dodge durangos fuel tank spews fuel all over the place when i am finishing a fill up. this happens everytime that i fill my tank full. i see that a recall was issued for 2005 dodge durangos for this exact problem, but the recall doesn't include my vin. if a recall was issued for this problem it should take care of every affected vehicle. it is not safe at all! *tr

Every time i fill up my car at the gas station, it overflows. it's a 2005 dodge durango. i was told there was a recall associated with this problem but never received a notice about it. the problem started about 3 or 4 months ago. *tr

Any time i fill my gas tank up on my 2005 dodge durango when the tank gets close to full the fuel doesn't stop and it spills all over the side of the truck ground and myself. i t has happened at multiple gas stations so i have eliminated the possibility that it is the pump. gas station attendants get upset whenever you spill gasoline because of the cleanup procedure and i am also upset as it's gas i have paid for but can't use. the dealer tells me my vehicle falls outside of the recall h-45 and the cost to replace the tank is in excess of $650.00. *tr

I own a 2005 dodge durango vin [xxx]. when refueling the vehicle, fuel over flows onto the vehicle and ground at the end of the fueling process every time you fill the tank. my research has shown there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vin was not included in the recall and that i would need to bring the vehicle to an authorized service station and pay for the diagnostic charge without reimbursement. in addition, they would not guarantee to pay for the repair, only the possibility of helping with payment. felt this was unsatisfactory due to dodge already recalling some 2005 dodge durangos and the apparent continuation of this problem outside of the acceptable vin number range. no further assistance was offered. the vehicle was not repaired. i am unable to fill the fuel tank with gasoline and could only refuel with small amounts of gasoline at a time. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated after dispensing fuel into the fuel tank to the full capacity level, the fuel sprayed excessively out of the nozzle onto the clothing. there was an estimation of a half gallon of fuel loss. the vehicle was able to resume operation normally. the authorized dealer was notified which stated there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap). the vin was excluded from the recall defect. the vehicle had not been repaired for the malfunction. the failure mileage was 74,700.

I have a 2005 dodge durango which i bought new. about six months ago, it started spilling fuel out of the filler tube everytime i fill it. the gas pump shuts off but a great deal of fuel sprays out all over everything. i took it to the dealer and the service advisor said although some 2005 durangos were covered under recall for this problem, mine wasn't. he suggested i fill the tank slower. now i know why this dealer isn't a 5-star dealer. the dealer i purchased the durango was eliminated when dodge downsized. *tr

Every time i fill up my gas tank using the auto fill at the gas station, whenever the nozzle shuts off gas shoots out. this happens every time i fill up. i went online and looked up this problem and have found many people have this problem and that a recall was even issued. armed with this information i went to my local dealer. i was then informed that my vehicle is not covered under this recall. my vehicle was manufactured mar 05. i will also be calling chrysler and complaining to them. i feel this needs to be looked into since multiple years and even 05 cars on covered in the recall are suffering from this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated while re-fueling the vehicle, gasoline began to spew from the filler tube, spilling onto the vehicle, ground and the contact. the contact was able to locate a recall for the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000- fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly) but was advised by the manufacturer that the contacts vin was not included in the recall. in addition, the contact was advised to have the vehicle diagnosed by the dealer before a determination was made whether they would be willing to assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 72,615.

I just bought a used 2005 dodge durango and when i fuel the pump wont stop and gas comes out of the filler tube all over the ground. the dealer says that my vin is not covered but i have found at least 500 other people online with the same issue with the fuel but not the correct vin. *tr

About 2 years ago it starting spilling gas when i try an fill it up, i keep checking recalls but nothing for my vehicle and researching others they have the same issue but only certain 05 durangos have been recalled. this is too expensive for me to fix myself so i have to monitor how much gas to put in, at $4.00 a gallon i don't want to lose it on the ground. it would be nice for trips to fill it up to monitor miles per gallon and to get the most miles without stopping more often. there are several complaints about this, why can't all these vehicles be recalled, it is defiantly a problem and should be corrected before people get hurt. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that fuel spilled onto the ground while fueling the vehicle. the failure was experienced numerous times. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic test erformed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 47,000 and the current mileage was 107,000. the vin information was not available.

My 2005 dodge durango has a problem where about 3-6 cups of fuel comes spewing from the filler hole when the fuel tank is filled. this "spewing" occurs just after the fuel nozzle "clicks" off signifying that the tank is full. the fuel spills all over the ground and surrounding people. it happens every time i refill the truck. i found on the nhtsa website that other durango's are being recalled for this problem under nhtsa recall 09v003000 and 05v034000. i called chrysler and they told me my particular vehicle was not recalled and therefore i was responsible for the repair. my dealer, orange park dodge, diagnosed the problem as the filler tube inlet check valve which is the same part recalled on other 2005 dodge durangos. i am currently waiting for the part to come in before it can be replaced. since chrysler is changing the part for free on recalled vehicles, but my 2005 durango with the same problem is my responsibility. this is a safety hazard. i was also informed by the dealer that the tank would leak out in a roll over accident since the check valve is not closing as designed. *tr

I own a 2005 dodge durango which i bought new and now has 43500 miles. for the past month, everytime i fill up the gas tank at any station and pump, the pump shuts off correctly and then gas comes pouring out of the tank onto anyone standing close and runs down the car onto the ground. i would estimate about 1-2 cups of gasoline come back out of the tank. i see this as a very dangerous situation. i contacted the dealership which told me that they have had multiple owners with the same problem with this vehicle platform but there has not been any recall safety or otherwise. so i thought i should contact nhtsa to investigate this situation.

Fuel spills out when filling fuel tank. current recalls from chrysler are chrysler recall e01 and h45. nhtsa recall 09v003000. vehicle has been inspected by local dealer, linder dodge, new london ct. fuel tank problem determined to be same as recall. as of 04/19/10, chrysler wants me to pay $260 for replacement of fuel tank. 2005 dodge durango suv. i know of someone else who has similar situation on an 2005 durango, manufactured 12/04. my durango was manufactured 03/05. the fuel spill problems has been occurring over past 5 months. why should i have to pay for a chrysler defect, when others don't have to pay? i have had fuel spill on me.had to stop what i was doing, go home, and change clothes, along with deal with deal with odor of fuel inside of vehicle. i understand my build date is out of recall date of manufacture, that i have hard copies for. but it seems the recall needs to be expanded, because the defect is occurring in a larger number of vehicles. *tr

Ref my 2005 dodge durango . the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve will not fully close at the end of refueling. this allows fuel to escape from the vehicle through the filler neck at the end of refueling. fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. *dt

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that the fuel tank would overflow when filled, which the contact advised was caused by a defective rollover valve. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that he has to replace the fuel tank to repair the failure. the manufacturer was notified and a claim was filed. the failure mileage was 65,000.
