My 17 year old son was driving his 2015 dodge dart on the road and it completely stalled almost causing an accident. it then started up again and drove. car would not start at school until many tries. car 1 day later, 09202017, stalled again while driving on the road and and thank god no cars were behind him for a rear end accident. this is a very dangerous condition ! dealer indicated the car was low on oil (only 25% oil left). no engine oil light has come on to ever warn us. additionally, the dodge dart form website indicates this is a common problem with the dart's 2.4l engine consuming 1 quart or more every 2,000 miles. this is ridiculous for a new car to burn this much oil and can cause the engine shut off protection while on a freeway or busy road which can cause an accident. dealers are not sure what to say and don't investigate this engine problem. can someone help this community of car owners before accidents occur and loss of vehicle engines at great expense to owner. many people on the mentioned forum also indicate their oil low light has never come on to warn them before the car automatically shuts off "while driving"

Engine is burning oil at an alarming rate. i have to fill up the engine with oil to keep it from stalling, every 2 weeks. when the engine uses up that oil, it stalls multiple of times until i can drive it to an autoshop.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. the contact stated that there was no warning indicator to specify when the oil was low. as a result, the vehicle stalled more than once and the failure was progressing intermittently. the owner's manual had specific guidelines that were in direct conflict with what the contact was experiencing. the dealer (mckay's dodge chrysler jeep ram fiat, 2020 frontage rd s, waite park, mn 56387, (320) 252-7170) provided an oil change, indicated that an oil consumption test was needed, and stated that they would need to check the oil levels every 500 miles. the contact felt that this was not a permanent solution and was unable to determine when the levels were low. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no solution. the failure mileage was not available. *tt *tr

I bought this car used with ~ 31,000 miles. i've put ~ 10,000 miles on the car and the car has used 3 quarts of oil in that time. i also have had the oil changed twice. once when i first purchased the car and once two weeks ago. initially the car stalled 3 times while in motion and turning.

No oil light on, no engine light, and it stalled. there is a problem with oil consumption with the 2.4 engine. my car died after backing out of my driveway and starting a turn. y car stalled out twice in the middle of intersections very dangerous. battery light came on, music continued, but enginge just died. the steering wheel froze (no more power steering), and i couldn't press my brake down, it just sat there in the road. i checked the level of my oil and it doesn't even cover the curved part of the dipstick, that's how low it is.the car stalled out again, a few months after the oil change. the car is not indicating when it needs oil, and is shutting itself off so it doesn't over heat while driving at speeds 70mph+ and in the middle of intersections while turning.

Well for starters. my check engine light came on for a faulty thermostat. i went and had it replaced and now ever since i got that replaced i noticed my temperature gauge fluctuations. it has plenty of fluid inside the radiator so i don't know what the deal is. i started to notice it every time when i'm parked in one place. i need this problem to be resolved right away.

I have driven my 2015 dodge dart without issue till 2/15/17. it died in the middle of my wife driving the interstate on i40. the following day it died and my father in law had to jump the vehicle off to get it going. today, (2/17/17), i decided to drive the car to work because my commute is shorter and much less dangerous. i pulled out of my drive way and drove to the end of the road till i got to the main street in our hometown, and it died thankfully before i got on that street. the car just completely stops. steering wheel locks. all electronics in vehicle stop. braking is slightly delayed. i took it to the dodge dealership in town and they said to check the oil. we did and had them change it. my main concern is highway driving where people drive 60+ mph and not being able to steer into the shoulder.

Consumption of oil. when oil is changed, i have to replenish oil at around 63-67% useage on several occasions until next oil change. there was previous leak repaired..no leaks but still burning oil. also, sometimes when stopped then start excelerating, experience hesitation and a rattling or pinging sound. also happens when i slow down turning at corner then excelerate. this has happened since i purchased over 1 1/2 years ago.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. the contact stated that the engine stalled when the vehicle made a complete stop. the dealer diagnosed that the vehicle needed the oil consumption module reset. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 27,000.

Nov 2016, loss of power while driving, went into neutral, would start a few minutes later, but loss of power again. took to dealership & they replaced the engine. feb 2017 key stopped working, changed battery still didn't work, changed it again & it worked. april 6, 2017 loss of power completed died, i could not jump it, could not lock my doors, could not do anything. picked up car from dealership on april 10, they said that they changed the battery. while still there picking up my car, my blinker lights blew out, notification on the screen says right & left blinker light out. they switched out the bulbs. got it home & notification said low beam lights out. the next morning had no lights. taking to the dealership again tomorrow. i am forcing them to look at the electrical system i am close to my 36000 mile warranty.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle lost power and shut off. also, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and restarted. the failure recurred three times. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where an oil change was performed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 21,000. the vin was not provided.

The car shuts off while i am driving-shuts off at stop sign, traffic light, or if i am turning in.

Vehicle is burning oil way to fast. i get my oil changes frequently and have to keep a big bottle in the car as extra. the vehicle can be driving and just completely shut off in motion. when i add more oil that car cuts back on. i don't have any oil spots when i park my vehicle so i have no clue where the oil is going. no check engine lights are on. i take it to the shop and they don't know what the issue is. this is an issue i had since i purchased the vehicle. i'm completely overwhelmed with how dangerous this car is. this problem is still current til this day 6/6/2018.

I bought my car april 2nd 2015 use from montrose kia of sheffield and love it for the first 2 month then i started experiencing my car just randomly stalling on my while i'm driving and then won't want to start again it.. so i took it back to the dealership and they couldn't find a problem with my car because it didn't happen while they test drove it of course so i left then a a month or so went by and it did it again so i called the dodge hotline plus took it back to the dealer and still couldn't find anything wrong with my car and once again it happened to me tonight 4 times so i called the dodge hotline once again told them what's going on and i told them that i have it on recording and i was gonna start recording it every time i drive... i can't afford to take it back to the dealership again and the lady said that's all i can do is take it to the nearest dodge dealer and have it diagnosed but that cost $250 that i can't afford.. i bought a 2015 for a reason so i didn't have to worry about my car braking down and yet it's braking down on me! thanks dodge!! and also it all happeneds normally when my car is cold and in motion also my car goes threw oil like crazy i go threw like 2 quarts a month and there is no leaks or signs of oil.burning at all

I have had issues since the day i bought the car. i have 26,000 miles and am on my third set of tires. the dealer tells me that they do not feel anything is wrong yet the tires keep wearing out and one recently had a bulge, i complained of a whirling sound and they told me it was the tires, i replaced the tires and it is still there. i keep taking the car in and it is one excuse after another. i report the issues to dodge and they tell me to go to the dealer. a mechanic at the dealer told me that the car runs like a tractor trailer, it is idling at 2,000 rpm in park when it should be 900 or less and it sounds like there is an issue in the rear end and engine mount issues. i'm afraid the car will fall apart while i'm driving it. i need someone to help me get dodge to figure out what the issues are. they had the audacity to tell me my driving habits are the reason i need tires every 10,000 miles. i have a camaro that i drive like a bat out of hell and got my first set of tires at 50,000 miles. something is wrong with this car and no one at dodge will help. will it take me getting killed for someone to do something??

First, i hate this car! the engine light came on! has started wanting to go dead when stopping at stop sign or stop lights. took to dealership and would not put on machine! the seats are positioned horribly. seems like it is declining really fast. purchased in may 2015 with 5 miles on it.

Unexpectedly loss motive power resulted in a crash.

Car slows down battery light came on steering locks up car g=has 11000 miles took car to dealership and of course couldnt find anything wrong with car

Burning oil ever since we bought it, constantly having to add oil between oil changes. dealership says its within specs. contacted chrylser care about issues as well. still has not been corrected. very disappointed, a new car should not burn/consume 1 to 2 quarts of oil between oil changes.

After numerous times the car has stalled in traffic, dodge placed vehicle on an oil consumption study, the car failed the study and a new engine was placed in the car. the car went back to the dealer the next day due to metal to metal grinding in steering at the slightest hint of a turn or curve

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle required an oil consumption test. while driving the vehicle for the oil consumption test, the vehicle began to overheat. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cooling fan failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 9,000.

While driving on the freeway for about 10 minutes, i noticed the tach was approaching redline and discovered the car had gone into neutral but shift lever was in drive. i pull onto the shoulder and after stopping, placed shift lever into park. revved the engine a couple of times and transmission went into gear with no other problems. this has occurred only once. i have been informed that this vehicle is being recalled by chrysler for a similar issue. i have not been contacted by chrysler as of yet.

Driving at approx. 20 mph, getting ready to make a right turn into a parking lot, battery light illuminated, instrument panel went black, total loss of electrical power and steering. coasted into a parking space and returned to car in about 20 minutes. car started and acted normal. next incident was about 35 miles later driving about 35 mph in a residential area. same senario, battery light illuminated black panel and loss of steering. took 10 minutes for car to regain power and start. third episode at about 45 mph, battery light flashed, i shoved shift into neutral, panel remained lit, but no rpm so engine had quit. i pushed start button, engine restarted and i put shift lever into drive. took to dealer but no codes. this car is dangerous but issue cannot be duplicated at the dealership because it is intermittent. i am trying to get chrysler to repurchase this death trap.

Dodge dart gt 2015 suddenly shuts off. no warning lights only a dinging noise. only 4200 miles on car the first time. shut off 8 different times sense then. took it to dealer was told out of oil. car would shut off turning or stopping fast. got oil change from dealer. less than 4000 miles later same thing, car shut off and radio still on and dash lights working one ding noise. turned onto busy road and dart shut off, was scary for a few minutes fast traffic coming from behind, had to get off road quick. oil not leaking in driveway. tech at dealer said he saw this problem before and told me to watch my engine. car has never maid to a 5000 mile oil change without shutting off. one time shut off after only 2540 miles sense last oil change. dealer found no signs of leaks or signs of oil burning up. the 7th oil change they reprogrammed the oil sensor. losing all my free oil changes to quickly. now i'm 750 miles from due oil change and shut off again. i checked oil stick - bone dry. put 2 quarts oil ( o2 20w) in , that got me to the bottom of low mark on stick. car running ok to get to dealer again.also checked oil gage in car, said:43% oil life remaining. that was a lie. oil is always very low and engine hot but not overheating. oil should be dirty and maybe a little low but not very very low. i want to make the car last 150 to 200 thousand miles with good care. worried engine will not even get close. got extended warranty. car engine gonna blow up before it's time and blame me. car shutting off with no warning and no oil, cant get to 5000 mile oil change. had a 2013 dart, loved it, traded in for 2015 with better warranty. miss old dart.

Driving to work on interstate 696 driving through royal oak west bound, the engine just shuts off, and shows on the dash engine trouble and electric symbol as well, lucky i was in the left lane and was able to get over, but it has been doing this since i got the car , dealer states they fixed it 3 times still doing the same thing. i have all the papers work since it started at 5000 miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while driving various speeds, the engine made a knocking sound and the vehicle operated roughly, jerked, hesitated, and did not immediately respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to a local unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was low on oil, although the contact stated that the vehicle was routinely taken to in for oil changes. the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 500.

My knee hit the ignition key while driving to dallas and the engine shut down. i was able to pull the car over, figure out what happened and resumed my trip.

As i was driving, i slowed and braked for other vehicles at a traffic light. as i started to re-accelorate, i realized the car had stalled. when i got the car re-started, it was running very rough and the check engine, the traction control and the cruise control lights were all lit and/or flashing. after i got home, i decided to take it back to the dealer. this time, the car drove fairly normally with only the check engine light on. this is the third time this has happened in only 3600 miles. (the first time was at approx. 280 miles and the second time was at about 500 miles.) the dealer's service writer implied since this car has an electronic throttle control, it was my driving style at fault. i have driven several other cars with electronic throttles for several years (my previous car had 120,000 miles on it) and this is the only time anything like this has happened.

The car is using oil and will completely die while driving. when it becomes empty if i come to a stop it will completely die and i lose all power steering and the car struggles to turn back on. dodge is aware of this issue on so many darts and nothing is being fixed. this engine needs to be recalled! twice between oil changes this last time i have been completely empty. this has happened since the very beginning that i had the car.

I purchased the car the last week of february. i began having car problems in mid march. i called the dealership and was scheduled to come in for service. was told the software needed to be updated. got car back and it stopped on me twice and had to be towed to the dealership. in may i was given a loaner car and was told my oil consumption was bad. received car back in june and car was reposed for nonpayment. i got car out and it stopped again. in july the dealership then gave another loaner and told me my car will be a chrysler buyback. from july to september never heard anything from chrysler till sept 24 advising me to go to the dealership to choose another vehicle. dealership did not know what i was talking about so we contacted chrysler to get a clear understanding of what needs to be done. was told to choose a car and they would take care of the registration and the paper work. drove the 2015 jeep renegade for almost a month and i checked in with the dealership once a week to find out if the paperwork was complete. first week of november was told by dealership to bring back the jeep and my 2015 dart was repaired. i was told to register the dodge dart and then i could get the jeep back.

While driving in the morning in a neighborhood speed limit of 30, i decrease speed to come to a full stop and suddenly the vehicle shuts off engine power and power steering at approximately 10mph. vehicle was unable to start until the 3rd attempt. had the vehicle towed to dealer and they were unable to diagnose the issue until the vehicle stalled the 2nd time. they updated pcm/tcm, but still had stalling issues. this vehicle had stalled over 5 times and the dealer were not able to pin point the issue. my vehicle is now at approximately 15,400 miles. i feel like i'm on the edge and unsafe every time i get behind the wheel. also had trouble with the automatic headlights not turning on and as well as the rear passenger windows not closing.
