While my vehicle was in motion, it completely died while in the middle of an intersection and had a very difficult time getting it started again.
On 10/24/19 while driving on highway the vehicle began to smoke and lose power. i had to make an emergency exit of freeway once vehicle was turned off the vehicle would not turn over instead it made a thump sound. the vehicle smelled like gas and oil inside. leading up the this earlier in the week the vehicle would stall while at stop signs and lights feeling like it was going to die. car was towed to my house then on 10/25/19 vehicle was towed to dodge dealer where it is currently still at.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator suddenly illuminated, which meant that the engine overheated. the contact discovered that there was no coolant in the coolant reservoir. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that coolant was leaking from the thermostat. the thermostat was replaced and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 33,000.
The car will randomly die while driving. while performing a turn and the car dies it locks the steering and no use of brakes. now the vehicle will not start at all. alternator, battery and starter have been replaced and still nothing. this has happened multiple times. it has always eventually started up until recently.
My car cut off twice this morning, and almost didn't crank back up. then my check engine light came on, so i took it by o'reilly to get the engine tested. it showed that my throttle actuator control was bad. prior to this it seemed like sometimes when i tried to change gears that it was sticking or something. it was almost as if it was switching gears properly. to top it off, i've had to replace all of my tires once, and a couple of them twice. now today it appears i'll have to replace the back two a third time. this is absolutely ridiculous!!! i've been wondering if they just didn't let me know that the tires they were putting on were bad tires, possibly recall tires. i'm wondering because i've replaced tires way too many times, and one of the last times i went they told me they no longer had the type of tires that were on my car, because they decided to stop buying that brand. when i asked why, he fumbled around that and told me the place they (dealership) got them from (pep boys) no longer used those complaints.
Car dropped out of gear in the middle of the highway during rush hour traffic. it was terrifying i was almost rear ended but was luckily able to get off the road safely. dropped speed and there was no acceleration.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. the contact stated that the tire pressure monitoring system became defective and displayed false readings that the tire pressure was low. the contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 14v800000 (tires), but the vin was not included in a recall. the contact also stated that the vehicle stalled without warning, which she associated with nhtsa campaign number: 16v113000 (electrical system); however, the vin was also not included in the recall. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 74,000.
I received recall v34 notice 5/25/19. it says there is a problem with the transmission linkage. it warns you about getting out of the car when it still is in drive, but doesn't tell you how to turn the car off if the linkage fails in drive or reverse. the notice says engage the parking brake, but you still can't turn the engine off. i called the dealer and they tried and couldn't figure it out. i called the chrysler 1-800-853-1403 number and they were no help!!!!! they keep saying just turn the key off. i explained it was a push button start and they had never heard of it!!!!!! *dt *tr *dt *dt consumer was told parts will be available next month.*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. the contact stated that the engine made an abnormal vacuuming sound. the sound began when the vehicle was started. the contact also stated that the steering wheel made an abnormal squeaking sound when turned and the accelerator pedal felt heavy when depressed. all of the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle was taken to dodge country (1902 e. central expy, killeen tx, 76541) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the battery was faulty. the battery was replaced, but the failure continued. the cause of the failure was not determined. stephens creek chrysler(4100 stephens creek blvd, san jose, ca) was notified of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 38,000.
Car has issue shifting between neutral and gears while driving. while in drive and acceleration is added car stalls and will occasionally burn clutch shifting between gears as if in neutral. if any acceleration is added car will rev as if in neutral. this happens at all speeds 20-30% of the time and appears to be getting worse. when braking to a stop the clutch burns 20-30% of the time when down shifting and fills cab with smoke. at complete stop entered drive and let off of brake. engine accelerated to 3k rpm's then grinded gears trying to automatically shift into the appropriate gear. after grinding abruptly grabbed gear and functioned again. acceleration from complete stop, car stalls before finding gear.
While at idle speed car revs up then down and revs up .. while accelerating car stalls like it's in neutral. .i was on street
Takata recall i have a 2015 dodge dart with 55,000 miles on it. i have had some issues with it stalling while stationary. now on 2 separate occasions it has stalled while going 40+ mph. this could be very dangerous it this happens with traffic around me.
I have had several problems with this car. the main problem is when the oil gets low, the oil light doesn't come on, and the car shuts down. this causes the steering wheel to lock up, and it becomes hard to properly pull the car over safely. when will dodge recall this engine?!!
The car stalls and shuts down while driving. driving it traffic on the highway and having the car die is very unsafe trying to get off the road.
Engine suddenly shut down while in motion. loss of power steering and power brakes. no warning lights, no check engine light. subsequent investigation revealed probable cause was low oil level due to excessive oil consumption (~ 1 quart in 1600 miles). this problem has been reported extensively on-line with this engine (2.4 liter tigershark).
No check engine or warning light driving on the interstate in 6th gear car blew up loud noise and caught on fire! only 85,000 miles with regular services. lost all power and clutch pedal dropped to the floor and coasted to shoulder with a lot of smoke coming from engine opened the hood and there were flames where transmission fluid goes. i had noticed the transmission was slipping a couple days prior but it was christmas time so thought i could have it looked at afterward.
Engine stalls, has happened 4 times while driving in past 2 months, vehicle mileage 69,000. dealership, pocomo in hampton, va. had vehicle for 5 days and could not duplicate.
When my oil is low, there is no warning on dash, my car just shuts off. we have taken it to a few dealerships in south jersey and they said this is a common issue with the dodge darts. if my husband was not a mechanic and changed oil early, i would have this issue every time!
Engine shuts off for no reason....causing loss of power....
Vehicle started stalling last winter after remote start thought it was remote start acting up but now it started stalling randomly at idle and turning now it has stalled driving down the road and sometimes will not restart right away, it is scheduled to have an oil change in 4 days so i started searching why it would be stalling and read about excessive oil consumption. i just checked my oil and it is barely reading on dipstick. this is bs there is no way it should be consuming this much oil between oil changes. i bought it brand new and it only has 33,000 miles on it.
While driving my car would shut down with out notice, when doing so it's hard to steer the car over out of traffic, which is dangerous. this has happened multiple times while driving with my children.
On evening of friday november 9, 2018, the transmission began to slip and was very sluggish. the next day november 10, 2018 at 12:15 pm while driving on hwy 485 in charlotte nc and before i could take it to the dealer for a check; the clutch brake exploded like a grenade, sending schrapnal through the transmission. we were lucky it didn't come through the cab or my family would have been killed. the traffic was very heavy due to the holiday weekend, we were also lucky that we didn't get into an accident. i have driven standard transmissions all my life and this has never happened. to say the very least i am upset this vehicle should be under warrantee due to the low mileage and since i bought it on jan 29, 2016, it is under 3 years. however, i am looking at a $3500 bill to repair or replace the transmission. this is completely unacceptable, the clutch brake should never explode like that. chrysler is selling weak manufactured parts to the public. this should be recalled and checked or replaced with a better clutch brake before someone is killed.
The 2015 dodge dart was purchased in september of 2018 with 35,000 miles on it. it has been regularly maintained had hasn't had any issues until november 9, 2019. the car was started that morning and idled approximately 2-3 minutes, it drove about 60 feet and stalled, power steering and brakes where lost. the battery light was illuminated on the dash board. when trying to restart it struggled, but eventually turned over. it then drove fine . once at home i research the issue and found multiple reports like mine of engines stalling due to excessive oil consumption.
My 2015 dodge dart engine randomly shuts off when i drive it , i've brung it to multiple repair shops and they have all said that my car is fine no codes shows up on diagnostic. this is a major safety issue if no auto shop knows what's to do and is keep saying my engine is fine when obviously it isn't if it keeps on randomly shutting down in the middle of the street.
I started my vehicle this morning and it started rough and was surging. at takeoff the vehicle was driving strangly. slowed to make a uturn, turned to the left slightly and my steering wheel locked, car shut down and was barely able to brake to slow down. i almost ran a man over trying to stop as i could not steer. the battery symbol popped up on the dash. i popped car in park. removed key. restarted vehicle and it took a good 5-10 seconds before turning over. there was hesitation upon start. after beginning to drive it seemed to be driving normally..this seems to be a bit of a ticking time bomb and a very large safety issue and seems to be a known issue across all models
Takata recall: the vehicle low air pressure light will chime when making a left or right turn and the car will loose power and shut off. the car will take 5 min to start up the engine and when going over a speed bump will trigger the vehicle to loose power and shut down as well.
Se apaga cuando freno. y el aviso de inflado de llantas est descontrolado. no avisa.
Car has stalled twice when making stop and beginning to turn left on city street. would not start first time. restarted after a few minutes. called aaa and replaced battery (it tested slightly weak, alternator was strong). next day, stalled again turning left on city street. started about a minute later. *dt updated 11/29/18*jb *dt*dt*jb the consumer stated dealer advised the engine was known to consume oil. there was no known repair or recall. the dealer suggested to check the oil every 500 miles and be charged a diagnostic fee each visit. *js*dt
Dart recall.....bought the car at 22500 miles and now at 46000 the car stutters and chokes in the cold rough idle and knocking sound coming from engine and the idle goes up and drops at high stops and will shut off the car when slowing down knock sound is heard once driven more the once the knocking goes but the stall at fast stops still happens when purchased wasn't informed recall was put on the car or various other darts
The car just will randomly stall. no indication it is going to do this. this car is unsafe. i am to the point i hate driving it. i took it to shop and everyone says nothing is wrong with it. this has happened multiple times. i have only owned the car since 5/19
My transmission places itself into neutral. but it is not under a recall even though it fits the category
I purchased my 2015 dart new from the dealership. since 7/2017, the car has stalled out in the middle of driving and left me stranded on 3 separate instances. the battery light comes up on the dash after the car stalls out but there is no warning before that. the car does not restart and has to be left for 5-10 minutes before it will turn over. even then you can only drive it until you push the brake again and it stalls out. the dealership insists that this is normal for the dart and that it burns more oil than other vehicles. every time this occurs, there is not a drop of oil in the car. when it happened today, there are less than 5,000 miles on the car since the last oil change and it has been less than 3 months since the last oil change. the last two times this has happened, i have nearly gotten hit because the engine just shuts down without warning.
I purchased a 2015 dodge dart 3/19/18 from a dealership. i just had the oil change done which was recommended. the car just recently started to stall while driving. no warning lights went on. we checked the battery (which was a year old) and the alternator and they were fine. i went to auto zone to check it out. i called the dealership i bought it at and they said it could be a number of things. never did they mention the oil being the issue. i get a call from the dealership that the because the oil was low the car will stale to protect the engine. first of all, it's a safety hazard if this can randomly stall, and second no lights came on for the warning. the cars meters showed that the oil quality was at 85% and good. this is very dangerous. i checked the owners manual and there is nothing that pertains to this car stalling.
Car stalls, jerks, or completely stops. dangerous on highways or at high speeds. car completely shut off on highway.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while driving at an unknown speed, the engine stalled. the vehicle was able to be restarted. the vehicle was taken to larry roesch chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram (200 west grand avenue, elmhurst, il 60126, 630-834-8000) where it was diagnosed that the engine oil was low. the dealer stated that the engine oil might be releasing through the exhaust system and that the 2.4 liter engine was known to be faulty. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was concerned that the engine may stall in traffic on the highway. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 43,600.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate and shift into gear. also, an abnormal grinding noise was heard and the check engine and tpms warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they were unable to duplicate the failures. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000.
When i drive and brake the car cuts off and the steering wheel locks and its hard to start back up im in the middle of the street
Engine shutdown while driving. appears to be sensor detecting low oil and rather than triggering the mil or a low oil indicator, it shuts the engine down. happened to my wife while she was driving on a highway. engine power loss, and also loss of power steering and braking. all dash lights came on, radio continued playing, and lights kept working so it wasn't a complete electrical power loss but a controlled engine shutdown.
Upon driving a few months after getting this vehicle i noticed it was burning oil rather fluently. when turning corners while driving it would shut of and i'd have to wait about ten minutes and it withhold turn on like nothing happened. after adding more oil it would operate a bit better. then the throttle system kicked out. i was driving on the highway and began to lose speed. i pulled over for safety and turned the car off. after restarting it i learned the throttle body system was bad. i initially didn't know what it was until after researching the vehicle and it's functions...i cannot get speed going up hill and cannot reach does if more than 40-45mph.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while the vehicle was in reverse, it started to jerk violently and the gear shifter failed. the contact was able to shift the gear into drive and was able to drive the vehicle. in addition, while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact waited a few minutes before restarting the vehicle to continue driving. also, the battery warning indicator illuminated. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and noticed that it was out of oil. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failures. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000. *tt *js
I have a 2015 dodge dart se and its been nothing but issues! in 2016 i was on the highway going 65mph and all sudden my [xxx] car shut off completely! i had to immediately turn it back on and shift into 4th gear because my car started slowing down while and i had to pull over! im so sick of this model and after reading about others having the same issues its just ridiculous and dangerous! i got it checked and they said everything looked okay and they didn't find any issues. so cars just turn off by themselves while driving for no reason?! fast forward to 2017, the engine light comes on for the first time and i take it to a dodge dealership in killeen tx and i find out it was the thermostat and they told me there was nothing wrong and that i could drive to alaska and back with no issues. so i leave and a day later the engine light is gone like it was never there. and here it is 2018 and the [xxx] engine light is back on again. i take it to firestone on base and guess what the [xxx] they tell me?! you guessed right! the [xxx] thermostat. at this point i'm just pissed and frustrated and they tell me i'm looking at a $500 fix and that this is a common issue with the dodge dart! why was i not told this when the car was purchased! oh and it gets better. on 25march2018 i was on the highway going about 60mph and you won't believe what happened....ding ding ding right again! my [xxx] piece of [xxx] dodge dart turns the [xxx] off! i don't know if there's a [xxx] recall or not but i know i'm not the only dodge dart owner who is having this issue and i should've been told about these dangerous ass problems before i poured my hard earned money into a [xxx] deathtrap. i'm calling the dealership tomorrow to figure out what the [xxx] needs to happen. i'm not trying to die let alone have my babies in the [xxx] car and something happen. do not purchase any dodge darts if you want to live! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. less than six months after purchasing the vehicle from vann dodge chrysler jeep ram (899 s delsea dr, vineland, nj 08360, 856-794-9700), it stalled numerous times without warning. a passerby and an independent mechanic noticed that the oil reservoir was completely empty. there were no warning indicators at the time of the failures. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they kept refilling the oil with no solution other than providing an oil consumption test. in addition, there was a drastic loss of power and speed due to the transmission assembly. there was no mention of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v542000 (power train) or 16v113000 (electrical system). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was not available.
Driving car at 25 mph and it stalled without warning and without any clear indication what the problem was. after 10 minutes the car started and was driven home. a simple google search revealed low oil could be the problem. oil was checked and noted that it was very low; there had been no indication that the car had low oil. we called the dealer to set up an oil change appointment and describe the stalling problem and they said "you must have a dart", like it is a common problem. it is a very dangerous situation to shut off the engine without warning. car has approximately 40,000 miles...... weren't low oil indicators invented in the 70's?
I was driving and came to a 4 way stop sign, after completely stopping i proceeded to pull off. as i began to turn the car slowed down tremendously and come to a complete stop and the red battery light came on. i was unable to start the car back up until about 15 to 20 minutes later. every day following this day, the car began to start up and stop after going only a few feet with the engine light coming on.
Vehicle has scaring on the cylinder walls that is soaking up oil and causing a excessive oil loss, causing the vehicle to shut down when taking a corner and not able to restart the vehicle for a period of time. i have been stranded in the middle of the road a few times not able to start the vehicle resulting in me having to jump start it to be able to get the vehicle to move. apparently this is a common problem with the 2.4l tigershark engines. i am afraid i will be stranded on a busy street and the possibility to be hit. my vehicle is currently at the selling dealership and is telling me that chrysler is denying the claim for a engine replacement, they are telling the tech to give me an oil change and send me on my way.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge dart. while operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator suddenly illuminated and the instrument panel electronics and gauges suddenly turned off. the vehicle was towed to friendly dodge (1395 newlands dr, friendly, nv) where it was diagnosed that the thermostat was faulty and needed to be replaced. the thermostat was replaced and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 80,000.
I was stopped at a 4way stop and when i tried to move forward the car stalled on me and did not move. i pressed on the brakes, let go and pressed on the gas again and it did the same thing but this time the dash read "gear not available, switch to neutral and then to drive or reverse." i did that but it still stalled on me and then the dash read "service transmission" and the engine light came on as well. after one more try i managed to get it to move so i just parked it in an empty parking slot and called my dealerships service department. the car was towed to the dealership and as i type this i'm awaiting a call from the service department of my dealership so they can tell me what went wrong. i hope it can be fixed.
I'll be driving down the street and it will act like it wants to downshift and forward momentum is lost for a few seconds forward momentum is lost for a few seconds and clicking noises are her during this process
When driving the dart, the vehicle will shut off while in drive. the dealer is saying that it is a safety switch for low oil. however there is no oil light turning on on the dash board and there is oil life remaining on the digital display. this has happened numerous times with no resolve. the dealer has even went as far as to say "well, you bought a dodge dart". when we purchased the dart, we bought the maintenance package, including oil changes. we use this package all the time and there would be no excuse to be low on oil that fast in a newer vehicle. this has happened a half dozen times, speeds varying from driving in a parking lot (5-10mph) , to down a street(35-45mph) thankfully never on a highway. we are fearful for the day this happens with children in the car. we have been in contact with daimler chrysler and they have not helped. one mechanic has told me this happens more often that you would think. but still no resolve.
