Problems with 2013 Dodge Dart SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2013 Dodge Dart starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 40 831 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2013 Dodge Dart

When son attempted to leave parking lot, there was a medium "chunk" noise and the brakes didn't seem to work at all until he stomped really hard on the pedal. he drove his 8 miles home slowly, giving lots of braking room as every time he hit the brakes a hissing noise and very little brake response was given even when depressing the brake as hard as he could. when my husband drove it into the shop, he said it was like there were no longer power steering brakes. the brake booster was replaced, under warranty still, and since my son stepped so hard on the brake, he actually broke the brake pedal assembly as well, which caused the brake lights to stay on all the time even when the car was turned off. all that was replaced under warranty, too.

Whoosing sound started to pull out of a parking spot brakes failed all i here is a whoosing sound

At 70mph on the interstate i had to brake, my breaks made a popping noise and an air sound, and did not slow the car down at all. i was unable to even move the break pedal, it was rigid. at that time i had to use the emergency brake to stop the car. it had to be towed to a dealership and i am in the process of replacing the brake booster which is costing me $800 out of pocket and it may need more after that they wont know until they replace that first. absolutely nothing to do with the brakes is covered under powertrain even though this is obviously a manufacture defect that is currently under investigation. this was a very scary and dangerous situation that has already happened to far to many people and a recall should have already been made.

Driving normally when approaching stop sign, depressed brake pedal when heard sound of whooshing air and pedal pushed back up. had to really push very hard with foot on pedal to get car to stop. and that was a slow stop. if i had had to stop short when this occured it would have failed and probable result would have been a crash. lucky i was in a rural area at the time with no cars in front of me. so i was able to make it home that night. will not attempt to drive it to dealer and will have it towed in. been reading on-line about it and have read many similar complaints and they say it is a brake booster. why is this not being recalled immediately. does there have to be a death or deaths first?

I have a 2013 dodge dart with about 54000 miles i was going home when all of a sudden my car didn't want to break lucky i wasn't going that fast! i had to hit a curve and pulled the parking brake fast so i wouldn't hit another car. i see a lot of people having this problem and dodge does not want to do anything about it. i took it to get checked and it's my power brake booster that when out it didn't tell me when it happen so i didn't know i wasn't gunna have no brakes and i'm not the only one some people were not so lucky that they crashed. i really hope dodge does a recall fast about this problem before some one really gets hurt bad.

I started the car and the break pedal made a whoosh and pop and would not depress. breaks would barely work and pedal no longer moves. thankfully i was parked at the time and not traveling. according to news reports, this issue is being investigated so i thought i would add my report to the list.

Came up to a stop light my brakes went clearly to the floor board. the car was not stopping. ran the red light, and brakes started to work again. pulled into my place of employment which was right next to the stop light. brakes went out again. brake fluid just poured out after it was put in.

I noticed when i started the car and depressed the brake peddle it made a lot of air noise. when i came to a stop sign and tried to stop the brake was very hard to depress and the car took a very long time to stop. i pulled over and restarted the car hoping for a different result. again the brakes made a lot of air noise, and i practically had to stand on the peddle to get it do depress, to come to a complete stop i had to utilize the emergency brake. i had to have car towed to garage, they replaced the brake booster, then as they pulled it out of the garage, it failed again. they had to replace the master cylinder and the brake booster again. ....updated 06/15/16 *bf updated 11/27/2017*cn

While driving approximately 45 mph, the brakes sounded as if air were present. the vehicle would not stop when the brake pedal was depressed. it felt like there was pressure in the pedal. i was heading into a curve and could not slow down. i had to pull the e brake and ended up sliding into a 180 and slid off the road. i am lucky to be alive! this needs to be brought to dodges' attention immediately! i am afraid of what the cost is to fix this and i don't have a vehicle to drive to work now! the information center on the dashboard says "electronic braking sytem needs to be serviced". this is very dangerous and i am lucky i did not get killed or kill anyone else!

There was a loud popping sound and ever since whenever the brake pedal was pressed it sounded like air whooshing out of the brake pedal. there was barely enough braking force to stop the vehicle from moving at idle. i had to use the emergency brake to make it home. i took it to a dodge dealership this morning (6/22/2015) and the brake booster had to be replaced...updated 08/06/15 *bf...updated 08/12/15 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. the brake booster needed to be replaced. updated 11/30/2015 *js updated 12/23/2015*js....updated 06/15/16 *bf updated 10/26/2017*cn

I was headed to the mall on day with my fiancee and child and while pulling up applying the brake at a red light. i heard what sound like a pop and my break pedal instantly became hard to press. i had to use almost all my leg strength to stop the car (to brake) before the red light. very worried when the light turned green i drive through and used emergency brake to park in yhe parking lot. i repaired it myself after waiting on the part that was on back order for 3 weeks. i fixed it properly and 2 weeks later the same thing happened again. 7/30/15 i believe it could now be the master cylinder leaking into my booster. i am going to pull the master cylinder and put some pressure through it and see if it leaks as i press the push rod. i will surely let everyone know.

This is a follow-up report to: date of incident: 11/18/2014, nhtsa id number: 10659435. 2013 dodge dart sxt brakes had failed once before, about six months ago. brake booster was to blame and replaced by dealer. dealer stated that this was the first they had heard of the problem and i took it as a fluke. yesterday i experienced the same thing - pop from the brake pedal then no brakes. towed to dealer for repair - again! i bought this car to be safe and reliable. i love the car, but it's neither of those things. thankfully i've been lucky both times and i have not killed myself or others with this defect. the underlying problem needs found and addressed asap.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that when driving over 8 mph, an air hissing noise could be heard while depressing the service brakes. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000. ma 10/16/15 *cn

My son was driving and he parallel parked so he could run into a store. i stayed in the car. when he returned he put it in gear and signalled to pull out. suddenly, there was a loud popping sound and what sounded like air whooshing out of the brake pedal. he attempted to apply the brake and he said it felt like something was stopping it from going down. in fact, he immediately stopped and got out of the car to check. every time he attempted to depress the pedal, it made the air sound again. fortunately, we were only a couple of blocks from home. we drove slowly, running stop signs and using the e-brake and downshifting when necessary. called the dealer. they sent a flat deck to pick it up. they tell us that fluid leaked into the brake booster. our new car is now in the shop for who knows how long. we bought a new car so these kinds of things wouldn't happen. now we are carless, with a busy, full work week for us both coming up. my husband requires a reliable car for his work. what is dodge going to do to reimburse us for the inconvenience and potential danger they put us in with this defect?....updated 06/15/16 *bf

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving approximately 45 mph, the brakes sounded as if air were present. the vehicle would not stop when the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

Bluetooth failed at 37000 miles hvac blower motor failed at 50k ebrake on caliper locked up 65k alternator gone at 70 k master cylinder gone at 74k reverse lock out cable for manual broke at 50 k passenger side visor broke off at 38k back up camera malfunctioning at 74 k speedometer drops to zero while driving randomly radio screen goes blank randomly oil leaking from valve cover seals and oil pan

The brake system shut down at 50 mph, i feared for my life it is one of the scariest things i have ever dealt with, i am lucky i am able to write this letter to you. the problem according to dayton andrews is that the master cylinder fluid leaked into the brake booster, which eventually needed to be replaced. i was told my dodge warranty expired at 36,000 yet there was 36,920 on the car. this was most definitely a recall or an issue that should have been covered under the dodge warranty. no normal car at 36,920 has that happen until there was initial problems with the car. ....updated 06/15/16 *bf *tr updated 10/11/2017*cn

While driving home from work after approx a 50 mile stretch of continuous highway driving (~60-70 mph) i had to merge onto another highway but first came to a complete stop to wait for a green to make my left turn. as i slowed down after applying normal brake pressure my wheels locked and i slid toward the stop line. i noticed smoke coming from the side wheel well. a few months later i was driving approx a 2 hour drive and noticed a burning smell again. sometimes i come to a stop after similar driving similar distances and get the same smell again. have received notice 15v-800 regarding brake booster contamination but no follow up as of yet.

I was at a drive-thru and when i went to pull up in line my brakes failed and i had to pull the emergency brake to stop. the brake pedal was very hard and would not go down. i parked the car and had it towed to a dealer. it was the brake booster. i had an extended warranty and had it fixed. i had been on the interstate earlier. if it had failed then, i do not know what would have happened. this was a very scary incident and i am concerned that the new part could fail or that others could have this problem and not be as fortunate as i was. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed but it took a greater distance to stop the vehicle. an abnormal noise was heard coming from the brake pedal. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. in addition, after a couple of months, while driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to stop. the contact steered to the right, drove over a curb, and crashed into a wire guardrail. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact did not sustain any injuries. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. the failure mileage was 38,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. the dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. the manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. the contact was not experiencing a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

When starting to slide on ice the anti lock breaks kicked in but the engine stalled for a second and all of the electronic dash went out. no speedometer no stereo nothing was on it seemed but when i let off the brakes and allowed the car to slide again everything came back on.

When we are driving the car, it will start to shudder when the check engine light comes on and within a minute the abs system will turn on. when the abs system turns on, you can actually feel the braking trying to stop the car. this has happened at all different speeds, from 20 to 30 mph up to highway speeds at 70 mph. you cannot shut of the abs system with the safety switch when it turns itself on. we have pulled over, turned the engine off and restarted the car. this does not always seem to work. we have turned off the abs system when we have started the car, but the computer in the engine will override this and has turned it back on. when that happens, it starts to try braking again while we are driving down the road. we have had the car back to the dealership several times trying to get this resolved, but they have not been successful in solving this problem. the dealership has called chrysler to find out what to do about this problem. they were told to change the ignition coil power pack, which they did. when the car was returned to us, it started this same problem again. the last time we took it in (april 2015) the dealership kept it for two weeks and was unable to recreate the problem. since that time it has done this to us twice, but before we could get it to the dealership for repair, it corrected itself. has anyone else had this problem? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. the contact mentioned that the brake pedal was stiff and required excessive force in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed but failed to engage and stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the brake booster system was faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

I heard a popping sound when i applied my brakes - pedal was hard and braking did not work. i was able to stop by downshifting to slow my speed and using the emergency brake. to be clear - my brand new car, with fewer than 11k miles, that i have owned for less than a year, did not have any functioning brakes. fortunately this happened while i was driving to the freeway, not when i was leaving the freeway at 70mph. my car was towed to the dealer where they diagnosed it as a failed brake booster and said that the cause was a "factory defect" - this is a terrifying factory defect that could have very easily led to a totaled car and serious injury or death to me, my passengers, pedestrians, other drivers. i bought a brand new car to ensure the highest level of safety and reliability. this is unacceptable and i sincerely hope that it will be taken seriously, reviewed and corrected. *tr....updated 06/15/16 *bf updated 9/7/2017*cn

I picked up my friend from her apartment and started driving towards a major street. i was going about 30 mph, as i was approaching the stop sign i pressed on the brake pedal and it made a sound. the car did not slow down. i pulled on the parking brake and it didn't stop the car. i kept pressing on the brake pedals but they wouldn't engage. i end up crashing into a vehicle kind of like t-bone the crossing car. my car was declared totaled. estimated mileage at 36,200. el paso, texas. *tr....updated 06/15/16 *bf updated 09/01/2017*cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the contact attempted to apply the brakes and the vehicle made an abnormal popping sound. the brakes failed to engage and the contact had to depress the brake pedal with both feet in order to stop the vehicle from crashing into another vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 54,530.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving approximately 20 mph, the engine rpms decreased and the vehicle started to jerk violently. the contact mentioned that the failure recurred whenever any electrical component was activated. also, the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently and the engine overheated while the vehicle was parked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 16,500.

I was pulling into a parking space at a low rate of speed between two vehicles. putting my brakes on to put the car in park, the brakes failed and went to the floor. the car went over the curb, over bushes, between two small trees and stopped approximately 6 feet in the sand. if there wouldn't have been sand it may have gone further. i have filed a complaint with chrysler. the representative said he did not drive the car. he put his foot on the brake and accelerated. this will not tell you anything. then he proceeded to ask me who put on my brakes or changed my brakes. since i had only owned the car for 2 weeks i said i didn't know and assumed that it was chrysler. this car has issues. the 2nd day i owned it, it died at a red light. which the dealership said it was from vapor lock. that couldn't have happened as the salesman put gas in the night before and didn't top off the tank. then the 3rd day i had it, it was jerking up a bridge in heavy traffic. the dealership said it was hill assist. i can't find that anywhere in the description of the car. he said i wasn't use to the car. i want someone to step up and take responsibility from either the dealership or chrysler. i don't want this car. it has mechanical issues. *tr

I had started my car and it was idling in the driveway with the e-brake engaged. i went into the house to get a few things i had forgot and the car rolled out of the driveway into the road and was hit by another car driving down the street. i was sure the e-brake lever was up all the way before i got out of the car. the driveway doesn't really have any grade to it either. it is just barely slopped for drainage. *tr

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that while traveling 25 mph, the brake pedal was applied and traveled to the floorboard. the contact also mentioned that there was an abnormal noise coming from the brake and that the brakes seized. in addition, the abs warning light illuminated and the emergency brake was activated in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake booster and the master cylinder needed to be replaced. the contact stated that the brake booster was replaced on two different occasions. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 22,038.

My wife was driving and the brakes stopped working. she was able to stop by putting two feet on the brakes and slowing down. luckily we were already slowing down for a stop-light so we were going slow. the brake pedal was incredibly hard and we were unable to push it down properly oit?s possible we would?ve hit a pickup truck. if we did we could?ve been decapitated. or we might?ve hit enough to set off the airbags killing our unborn child. we could?ve been injured or injured someone else. luckily this did not happen on the expressway. ?my wife cautiously pulled us into a gas station, sunoco, and i told her to speed up a little bit and to step on the brakes. at that point it felt as if the brakes were not working and a light flashed in the instrument cluster saying ?service brakes electrical?? or something similar. ?we called the roadside assistance number. upsettingly enough we discovered we could only be towed about 10 miles to get home or about 15 miles to a dodge dealership otherwise the cost would come out of my own pocket. disturbingly the person on the other end of the line suggested that i drive five miles closer to home after knowing we needed to be towed because my brakes didn?t work. i understand she was not a mechanic but there is no reason she should?ve suggested i risk the four of our lives to drive five miles so i could get a free tow. ?what if we were out of state? would i need to pay an astronomical cost to get towed back home? what will dodge do about this? ?roadside assistance is not roadside assistance, it?s towing assistance. we only got help getting a tow. we were completely on our own to find transportation. ?what would've happened if we were on the expressway? what would've happened had we ran into the pickup truck with it's truck bed at head level? once fixed it was determined to be a bad brake booster. *tr

Brake system failure. starts with a light sound much like a pressurized system releasing pressure, then progresses into sounding like an air brake system on a truck at which point the brakes fail and will not stop the vehicle. i've read dozens of reports about this online. reported to be a faulty brake booster, possibly master cylinder. i've also reported this to dodge at the early stages when it was just a light sound, and was told it was normal. but from similar reports, this is not normal. *tr

While depressing the brakes, they travel to the floor without brakes activating or the abs system. it takes pumping the brakes a second time before the brakes finally activate to slow the vehicle. i have had my car into the dodge dealership because of the issue within the last 2 month and they could not find any problems. within the last month the problem is progressively getting worse. *tr

When applying brakes. the entire vehicle shakes.car dealership said rotors were rusted and pitted on all four wheels and wanted 320 dollars to turn the rotors. i refused this option. i was told that this happened because the car sat still too long. this is not true because this car is used daily. it is obvious there are no brakes on the back wheels by observing the rotors with the naked eye. any rotor with working brakes will not have rust accumulate on it. someone needs to check this out to see if this is a problem with all dodge darts or just my car.. i will await your reply. thank you for your attention to this saftey issue. *tr

First incident in mar 2014, <10 mph, 40f, 10% neg road grade ,engine run time was less than4 minutes.on trying to stop peddle was hard but felt like ineffective power brakes. i estimate that braking effectiveness was less than 10%. i did not hear any unusual nose during the incident. recovery to normal was within one minute. the second, and last, incident was in either oct. or nov of 2014. conditions: <10mph, 35f, 5% positive road grade, engine run time more than 30 minutes. i did not smell anything unusual. ( your form does not allow me to enter an incident date. )

Went to back out of the driveway and the brake pedal would not depress to engage the brakes. had to shift to neutral and use the emergency brake to stop the car. had to have the car towed to the dealer. *tr

I was sitting at a red light and heard a pop. all of the sudden the car started rolling forward while the light was still red! fortunately no one was coming and i was able to accelerate through the light without getting hit. when i tried to apply the brakes there was an intense amount of pressure from the pedal with the sound of air blowing out from the pedal. i parked the car thinking it just needed a reset, but that didn't work. on monday morning i was able to take it to a local dodge dealership and they diagnosed the issue as a bad brake booster. fortunately the car is under warranty but the part is on back order. dodge needs to address this issue because it sounds like a lot of 2013 darts have had this issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle did not come to a complete stop when the brakes were depressed. the contact had to shift into a lower gear, applied the brakes and then the emergency brake. the contact constantly heard a screeching noise upon applying the accelerator pedal to increase the rpms on a frequent basis while driving the vehicle at any speed. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was awaiting diagnosis. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 2000.

When attempting to start my dart, the clutch pedal will have no tension in it. the pedal will go straight down to the floor with no effort and will stick down. i have to use my foot to pull it back up. the car will also not go into gear when this occurs. you have to either turn the car off or let it stall, then pump the clutch 10-20 times in order to get the tension needed. sometimes this doesn't help at all and you have no choice but to attempt to drive it. this is extremely unsafe! fca knows there is an issue, they've extended the warranty to 60,000, but my car having 83,xxx miles they don't care. first extended service corporation who i purchased an "extended service agreement" through doesn't care either. i asked to speak with a supervisor and the representative flat out told me "no" and hung up. i've been having this problem for well over a year. we've contacted the dealership and others around and they said it wouldn't be covered under warranty. this is a safety concern, how is it not a recall?!?

while braking, this winter, my abs would activate causing my dashboard and radio to go blank. it was only until recently that i learned that while the screens are blank and rebooting my cars power steering system is also inactive. after 4 attempts at fixing this issue all the dealership is telling me it that it is a grounding issue. *tr

I just recently purchased a 2013 dodge dart sxt rally with 2.0 engine. i put about 3500 miles on the vehicle and began to notice a whoosh of air noise when depressing my brake pedal. a couple days went by and the whooshing noise began to get worse i also began to experience a loss of brakes when backing out of my driveway and while driving on the road i noticed the brakes began to fade quickly resulting in the pedal becoming super stiff and having no brake pressure on the pads to the rotors. a couple more days went by and i completely lost brakes in the car while driving resulting in me having to use the parking brake to stop the car. i took my car to the dodge dealer and explained what had happened, a service tech test drove the car and almost crashed it. he explained the car has no brakes and he'd have to troubleshoot the problem. they came back and said to me that they would have to replace the power booster and possibly the master cylinder. i do not feel safe driving this car now. i have read multiple reports of catastrophic brake failure and parking brake failure on the same model year dodge darts. i feel there needs to be a recall on this brake situation. what is dodge going to do, to ensure that these power boosters/master cylinders do not continue to fail? *tr

I have had quite an experience with my dodge dart. it is in the shop this week. i had complained first about the hesitating when i first started the car and it was cold outside. the engine seems to give out and a tiny back fire. i have the computer navigation on the dash and it began to flicker and my mileage started to flash. my check engine light would come on for no reason and the navigation began to fail. i had parked my dart in the driveway and it had rolled out into the street and a county worker knocked on the door to tell me i was blocking access to the drivers. i went to move my car and the clutch was stuck to the floor of my car. i could not get it in or out of gear. so far chrysler has replaced the electrical/computer part, the part for the clutch. i just found out about the recall for the brake and transmission. last my door is darker then the rest of the car and they are having it painted. *tr

When braking the car does not seem to stop. on september 13,2013 , my son actually had an accident. when he applied the brakes the car continued to run into the back of another car. it actually took over 6 weeks to repair the car, as parts were not available. his car also shows that it is not in the system when i input the vin number. i'm hoping i didn't miss any recalls because of this. originally when he bought the car, the vin number was wrong on his registration. he was in the process of stopping the vehicle when i ran into the back of it. he was on a highway at the time. it caused $8,847.31 damage to his car.

The battery has to be replaced every year. the brakes are hard and has a vacuum leak noise . the radio, cd, bluetooth does not work. the cruise control does not work all the time and when it does it will stick on. the buttons on the steering wheel does not work all the time. the front 12v dc does not work. dodge will not fix it because the warranty is gone, but these problems have been going on since i bought it in 2012. is there some way i can get dodge to fix these problems without having to pay. there is a lot of dodge dart owners with the same problems and dodge won't recall or fix the problems.

When i was coming off of a highway i tried to brake and my brake sounded like it accumulated air and then i heard a pop. the brake went stiff and i could not use the brake. my car kept on going with 50mph and i could not use my brake, luckily enough i used my hand brake to stop myself and avoid a crush into a busy street. my vehicle is 8 months old, and has 3500 miles on it. the overall maintenance was done on it a month ago and everything was checked and worked correctly. *tr

1. clutch started to lose resistance couple times a month in two last months. now almost every day after long time not using it. it freely going down, sometimes stuck in the half way out and have to be pulled up. 2. brakes started lose resistance recently also after long time not to be used (1 or more hours) specially in the morning. it freely going down half way producing air blow sound. after a few times pushing pedal down air blow stops and resistance gets ok. behind of brake pedal it feels some king of liquid. 3. acceleration at high speed takes longer time then it was before and requires to switch to lower gear. (turbo problem?) 4. mpg decreased. on the same way to and back to work usually it was 32-33 mpg. now it gets 28-29 today brought car to dealer. after a whole day of inspection nothing wrong was found. *tr

This is the second time the brakes went out on my car...the first time was during rush hour traffic at 3500 miles thank god, i was able to pull into a parking lot before i had an accident. today at 5700 miles it happens again. they replaced both power brake booster and master cylinder the first time it happened and now it happened again!!! im am so angry!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to eventually restart the vehicle. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the key fob and the ignition needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. in addition, while driving 45 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor coming from the vehicle. upon inspection, the contact noticed that the front passenger side dashboard and wiring harness in the glove box were on fire. the contact independently extinguished the fire. no injuries were sustained. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness, carpet, and dashboard needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact also stated that while driving 30 mph and approaching a stop light, the contact attempted to depress the brake pedal, but the brake pedal failed to depress. as a result, the vehicle failed to stop. the contact applied the emergency brake but the vehicle veered and crashed into a guardrail. the air bags failed to deploy. the brake warning light illuminated. the contact sustained face injuries that did not require medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed from the crash scene to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. the failure mileage was 28,000.
