I received a letter for a safety recall maybe last month but it said on the letter that there was no remedy for the problem and that i would receive another letter with instructions soon. never got this letter then my brakes started making horrible noises saturday july 27th. took my car to the mechanic and he said the caliper for my brakes broke. and there was a safety recall on them and asked me why i didnt get them fixed. but there was no way to fix them according to the letter. now i can't drive my car without paying $600 and doge has no way to prove this was part of the safety recall issue cause i dont have the letter anymore

The parking brake has failed on two occasions, once while stationary when it was at the dealership. it crashed into a car in their parking lot in 2016. the vehicle has been in and out of the dealership over the last four years. it was in the dealership in 2015-2016 thirteen times for oil leaks and the engine either dying or almost seizing while in motion. this resulted in my vehicle starting on fire in late 2016 early 2017. the repair for the fire damage was covered by my insurance company and it was subsequently fixed by a different dealership after that. more recently, it was in my driveway and rolled into my truck and damaged the front of the vehicle's bumper while stationary with the parking brake was engaged. the symptoms with the engine have also started to reappear while in motion in 3rd or 4th gear... it starts to act like it's going to completely die. needless to say, i have it back in the dealership for diagnostics. some of the recalls listed on this website sound like things i have experienced, please let me know if there is anything i can do. my time is the main thing i care about at this point and don't want to spend another 2 years endlessly in and out of the dealership. i just want a car that operates normally.
I have a 2013 dodge dart aero 6 speed manual, dual dry clutch, multi air turbo. i purchased vehicle in february 2017. 4 months later i had brought my vehicle into carsense for an oil change. meanwhile i asked them to check the brakes also due to braking issues and my ebrake was not working properly and had a mind of it's own. it worked when it wanted to, but yet everything is in "great condition" says carsence.mind you that i had just purchased this vehicle in february and it was recently inspected in january 2017. service dept. inspected my brakes and gave me the current measurements of existing brake pads left. about june 2018 i was coming up to a stop sign in a 25 mph side street with light traffic. i had trouble slowing down to a complete stop. when i managed to come to a complete stop i heard a loud bang. here my driver's side rear rotor was severely smoking and i noticed my rotor was redhot. my rotor snapped completely in half. my shifter would randomly pop out of gear or the clutch would lightly stick, smelling exhaust odor i'm now pushing 62, 000 miles and what do you know. i am coming home into my development. i'm in second gear turning onto my lane and doing maybe 10 mph well it decides to pop out of gear and accelerates, redlining second gear(i'm assuming it thinks it's in second) and all dashboard lights are flashing steering wheel it locked. car is now doing 80 mph in a 15 mph zone. my brakes are not working at all brake pedal is harder than hard. i have no control of this vehicle!! engine finally cuts out after i removed the key from the ignition. comes to a screeching halt. thank god. it wont start still to this day..oil in turbo and up the hose. battery plays dead along with my instrument panel and my transmission needs a computer upgrade that's not even available for the 1.4l turbo engine...it needs a tcm, new master cylinder.
The 2013 dodge dart has issues with the rear brake calipers. when i disengage the parking brake the rear calipers do not release pressure causing the rear brakes to drag. this is not only my vehicle, i have read online people having similar issues. for me to fix this problem i would have to get new rear calipers. i personally believe this is a manufacturer problem. on the back side of the caliper is a spring which the parking brake connects to i had to disengage this myself. causing me to not be able to use my parking brake.
My 2013 dart has started having breaking issues recently, year 2013-2016 darts has a recall on the brake assist in the past, and my issues are very similar. when stoped at a redlight, my car continues to roll forward slowly, enough that i have to push brake pedal completely down. and it takes a lot longer and more distance to slow down fast and safely, it's almost caused me several accidents , and has caused me to run a few red lights to avoid stopping late in the middle of the intersection, which i feel is unsafe , especially when i have my 3 kids with me.
Car flashes check engine light, turns on and off multiple times on its own, unexpectedly shifts into neutral, occasionally goes forward when in reverse (r), steering wheel locks while driving, takes a lot of pressure on the acceleration pedal to move forward
I got in my parked car, started it up and tried to put the car in reverse but there was no tension when i lifted the lever on the shifter. the lever moved up and down and i could shift into any gear except reverse. lifted shifter boot and found the reverse lockout cable was snapped. a month or so after, i was leaving my house and it was snowing. the roads were slick and as i got closer to the stop sign at the end of my street here in town, my car was sliding. tried to use my emergency brake to get some traction so i could stop but, just like the reverse lockout cable lever, as i lifted the brake there wasn't any tension and the lever moved up and down freely. luckily there weren't any oncoming cars in the intersection as i slid through. in both cases there wasn't a reason for these parts to suddenly stop working. neither were used forcefully, my car has never been in an accident and i have 20 years experience driving manual transmissions. my car had less than 100k miles and neither were used excessively. basically, the reason both of the parts just stopped working suddenly is unknown. i searched online for a replacement reverse lockout cable, i found that the whole shifter assembly has to be replaced as there was a difference in the length to correct a defect with the lockout cable (? yet no recall?) now i can't even find a replacement part. i contacted mopar to ask if any other darts had recalls related to my issues but i was told my parts have already been tested and cleared by the nhtsa and there was nothing more to do. regardless, i feel reverse and the emergency brake are both critical and could easily pose substantial risk if defective.
I had took my car to chrysler in biddeford in may 2017 c/o that my e-brake was not holding my car. once i got the car back i could hardly lift the brake. i went back in and asked why it was that way, they stated that it would loosen up as i use it. i used the brake a couple of months later and it went up about an inch. the next time i used it was in february and when i pulled up on the brake level it went straight up. i called and left numerous vm. no one called me back. i went back in on a saturday for my oil change. i talked to a rep there and they stated that they would leave a note for someone to call me back on monday. i never received a call back. i finally got someone to make an appt for me to bring my car in. once they found out i no longer had the b to b warranty they stated that i would have to pay almost $500. i called and left a msg for the gm and i got a call back from the sales manager wanting me to traded my car in. i stated to him i thought he was calling about the brake. he stated to bring it in and they will put it on the lift while i talk to sales. the rep came back and stated do you know that your brake does not work. made an appt for a diagnostic which i had to pay for and they ordered a part for my car. i had to take my car back to be looked at bill dodge and they stated that my brake was not working and that my calipers where sticking. i brought the car back in and they stated i needed one of my calipers changed. i stated i just changed one this summer make sure you get the right one. i picked up my car and took my car to my friend in nh. his mechanic again stated that my brake was not fixed and that the e-brake is causing the calipers to stick. i got my car back and a week later (03/01/2019) i was in an accident where a car hit my driver's door doing about 35+. my air bags never went off. i have ...
The parking brake will not engage. does not hold car in position when applying the emergency brake. car rolls when parking brake is applied.
Brake booster vaccum pump is leaking oil, causing car to smoke and have a burning smell. it was recalled on other models of the dodge dart but not this one, and it's having the same problem. when turning, parking, or braking.
The clutch stays stuck to the floor, then pressures up at times .i see many complaints about this online.
Brake-booster vacuum-tube is letting oil hit my brakes and when i stop the car it smokes and a really bad smell is sucked in by the a/c into the cabin area. this problem is also not letting my car stop in a short distance especially at highway speeds. this is word for word on the fca wedsite about the problem "brake-booster vacuum-tube routing may inadvertently allow oil to reach the brake-booster diaphragm in the event that the vacuum-pump check valve fails; oil may degrade the diaphragm and lead to a loss of brake assist, lengthening stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash." i have gone to every dealership in my area and because my car is not on the recall list i can't have the problem fixed. my fear is one day i may brake and the car goes up in flames..
Takata recall this car is garbage ! dodge shouldn't make this model anymore. i've been having problems two years in of having this car. i had to start changing tires so many time. air always goes down, tires keep getting those air balls. (no i don't park close to the sidewalk or hit the sidewalk) my steering wheel always cracks everytime i turn it. my whole car shakes ! i press the brakes and it goes crazy. my engine messed up too (it had water inside) i had to fix some heating hose ! my window button stuggles to go up ?i had to change my battery three time ! keep in mind i got this car new. zero everything ! for 6 years ! i've put so much money on a car i haven't even finished paying ! a car needs thing to get fixed but not like this! just isn't normal. garage of a car! dodge dart sxt 2013 ! don't waste your money or time on this car. save yourself.
Vacuum pump leaking oil and a burning smell comes through the vents when brakes are pushed, also caused the o2 sensor to go bad and a/c to not work like it should. this happens when driving and you push the brakes to slow down or come to a stop.
I never knew the car had a recall i only had the car a month
I was on my way to work@ 0730 hrs, traveling on i 294 n/b, at a speed of approx 45/50 mph when i heard a loud pop. as i attempted to reduce my speed, to move out of the flow of traffic, i noticed my brakes were no longer functioning. i pulled the hand break up, which did not respond, i pushed it down and pulled it up a second time, which barely slowed my vehicle, but did allow me to coast to a slow stop on the shoulder. at this time, the hood of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. i exited the vehicle and a man who had been traveling behind me, pulled over to say that he had seen flames coming from my tail pipe, before the engine compartment burst into flame. i immediately called 911. i waited in the rain for illinois state police and the fire dept to respond. state police report#il 0229900 was made upon the troopers arrival.
E brake locked up at rear caliper. similar to nhtsa id number 11109809,
Clutch is sticking in the 1.4l turbo dart while stationary. car wouldn't start right away but did eventually. hard to get into gear while stationary. emergency brake has failed and is not working. airbag light is on, on the dash.
Parking brake (emergency brake) caliper failure rear right. 33,062 miles. within last week or so handle is much easier to pull up. now, when engaged you feel left side of car goes up and right does not (lopsided). yesterday, i was driving on a level street and loud clunking noise came from right rear wheel area. called chrysler dodge hotline today and told it was not in the brake caliper recall. i made prior complaints to dealer that the emergency brake would pop out and roll and it was dismissed that i was not pulling up brake properly, but i was. chysler saw there were only a few complaints (46) regarding the brake calipers for my vin so it is not in a recall.
The 2013 dodge dart with the 1.4l turbo engine was a vehicle made that was made in murphy's law (everything that could go wrong, will go wrong). since purchasing this used vehicle in 2016 with 43,000 miles on the engine i have had multiple occurrences of mechanical problems. the first issue i have had was the turbo. i had to have the turbo replaced under warranty (common issue). then, multiple instrument gauge failures. next, several clutch problems (clutch sticking to the floor even when driving). this issue was not fixed as the dealer does not believe this to be an issue. if researched it will show that this is a common problem thousands have with this vehicle. then, next set of issues began with multiple caliper seizings. the car was taken to a mechanic other than the dealership. they determined that these parts were faulty and suffered from a recall that effected several cars. when calling customer care for dodge. they refused to do anything because my vin was not involved with that specific group of cars. i paid for the repair out of pocket and then suffered through two additional caliper failures. all repairs out of my own pocket. this is also another common issue. now, i am currently going through a valve cover gasket failure on a vehicle that has been maintained at 75,000 miles (common issue). now that i am out of warranty on a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. dodge claims to have started the warranty in 2012 on a 2013 year vehicle. this vehicle should be listed as one of the most dangerous, expensive, and poorly made vehicles to exist. all of these issues have occurred while driving on a highway almost causing me to crash several times. through dodge-dart.org you will see several dangerous and negligible choices made by fiat chrysler and how dangerous this car can be to the public. i believe dodge should offer an extended warranty up to 10 year/200,000 miles.
Before starting vehicle, clutch pedal goes straight to floor and has to be pulled back up into position. problem occurs multiple times a week. after clutch is pumped a few times, it regains pressure and is able to be driven. vehicle has less than 35,000 miles but is over the 5 year warranty. extended warranty will cover it with a $100 deductible. dealership advised that i will probably have to pay for a clutch replacement even though there is an extended warranty/ known issue on the master cylinder and hydraulic fluid leaking throughout clutch components. also had the turbo and exhaust manifold gasket replaced at 20,000 miles after check engine light kept coming on and vehicle lost power. at one point the check engine light came on and the vehicle lost almost all power while trying to merge onto i-95 in washington dc, almost causing me to be rear ended by another vehicle. it took 4 trips to the dealership for the problem to be recreated and eventually fixed under warranty. the emergency brake stopped working at about 15,000 miles but i was told that my vehicle was not one affected by the caliper recall. paid for caliper replacement out of pocket. lots of problems with this car, but dealership keeps telling me they "cannot replicate the issue".
Parking brake failure at 42k miles. parking brake on rear wheels seems to have stuck in caliper and does not engage. when pulling back on parking brake handle in car, there is little or no resistance. driver's side rear brake pads wore more quickly than any other pad and were almost down to metal on inspection / replacement. all other pads had 1/3 to 1/2 of the pads remaining on other brake assemblies. the vehicle is parked on a slight incline in a driveway at residence and began rolling back after engaging parking brake. vehicle now must be set in reverse (stick shift) and parked on flat ground. parking brake no longer has any braking power to hold vehicle in place and prevent it from rolling. parking brake cable seems free to move back and forth. brake caliper assembly with a rotational came parking brake engagement seems stuck and hard to move in caliper. normal braking from use of the brake pedal seems unaffected, just parking brake. attached image shows the caliper removed and the area circled of where the parking brake cable attaches to the caliper parking brake assembly.
When applying brakes down hill, right front wheel shakes. also can hear a rattle in right front wheel while driving on rough areas.
The emergency brake function on the rear brake calipers on the manual version of the 2013 dodge dart 1.4l multiair turbo seize over time. it happened first with my back right rear caliper. i was driving after having parked using the emergency brake. the car was pulling hard to the right and was resisting acceleration. i pulled over to find my back right wheel smoking and the rotor red hot. the event was dangerous. i had the car towed to my local autoshop and they informed me that there was galvanic corrosion on a spring that was intended to release the emergency brake when disengaged. they informed me that this wasnt the first time that they had seen this on this model of car, and that i should expect for it to happen on the opposite assembly as well. i did not have the money to replace both at the time, so i only replaced the damaged caliper, rotor, and pads. slightly over one year later, the exact same thing happened to the other assembly. i attempted to fix it myself. to my surprise, upon getting underneath the car and comparing the two brake assemblies, the assembly that had been replaced was visibly different. there appears to be a coating on the release spring. to me, this signifies that dodge is aware of the issue and has made a revision, however there is not a recall in place. considering the importance of brakes and the significance of the emergency brakes to manual vehicles, i consider this unacceptable. i have searched for recalls and not found any, and i have reached out to my local dodge dealer where i purchased the car only to be told that without a recall, there is nothing they can do.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer (jeep chrysler dodge ram located at 600 auto center cir, salinas, ca 93907) where it was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic). after the recall remedy was performed, there was a loss of brake assist. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the vehicle was serviced a second time under the recall remedy as a courtesy however, the failure recurred where there was a loss of brake assist. the contact called the same dealer where it was informed that the vehicle would have to be diagnosed and that there could be a cost for the repairs. the contact was concerned that the recall remedy failed to rectify the failure. the vehicle was not taken back to the same dealer for the most recent failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 84,898.
I took my car in to have a recall fixed on my car. when i got my csr back i looked over the brake booster and lines and the only thing that was changed was the supply hose. after oil had been previously found. you can see the oil still soaked in places. the tech put on the invoice that she changed the booster but yet the booster was untouched with factory paint marks still in tacked. i left my car there and went in the next day to resolve this issue and they tried saying it was a misunderstanding. i dont see how saying you changed a part when you didn't is a misunderstanding. mi was compensated a free detail that never expires in order for my boyfriend to take down his bad review. so they keep the csr another night and when i go to pick up my car i wanted to check it along with a mechanic from a different business. at this time my hood will not close due to a bent or snapped hood cable. the tech did not drop the transmission and forced the boosfer in and bound up my hood cable in the process. the pump and master cylinder hace still yet to be replaced as the r63 recall requires if engine oil is found. what makes me feel unsafe amd like they were trying to pkay with my life and safety of my family is they never tested the parts after they installed them. they lied on both invoices. each one says the car came in at 77491 miles and left at 77493 miles and i neverdrove tge car off the lot or in because i didnt know if the brakes worked. how can a car have the same miles on 2 different maintenance appointments if the parts were tested after installation? my odometer read 77491. same as when i first droped it off almost a week ago. so either they turned back a digital odometer or they never tested the parts they forced in. i dont know if they damaged anything else by forcing the booste but i domt like the idea of others putting my lifr in danger.
Parking brake does not properly engage nor disengage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving 40 mph, the brake pedal was applied, but failed to respond. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (davis moore located at 7675 e kellogg dr wichita, ks 67207) where it was diagnosed that the vacuum tubes needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. in 2016 the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa recall campaign number 15v80000(brakes). upon inspection it was determined that not enough oil was present inside the brake booster to cause a failure and the booster was not replaced. the dealer replaced only the vacuum tube but approximately 1 year later the brake booster had failed. the manufacturer was contacted and authorized the vehicle to be repaired. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for a second time and the brake booster was replaced on the vehicle. the failure mileage was 67,000.
Takata recall while my vehicle is in motion on street or highway my vehicle begins to jerk. also when coming to a stop or having to use my brakes before making or coming to a turn i have to use excessive force to come to a complete stop or to slow down, when doing that my car begins to shake.
While driving, experiencing intermittent issues with low power during acceleration, back firing, misfiring, check engine light & traction control comes on, stays on. cruise control will not work when this happens. after a few days, corrects itself and is ok for a day or so but continues again. very concerning in traffic. clutch went all the way to floor, took to dealership and so far not reoccurring (recall). electrical issue, possible something staying open, draining battery. after sitting all day, car would not unlock, had to enter car with actual manual unlock. upon opening, the dash lights were all flashing, the display screen was flashing unreadable images. all instrument panel lights came on, stayed on. when door shut, panel lights went off and the fuel and speedometer gauges starting jumping, opened the door, gauges stopped and lights came on. wiper blades activated on their own, very slowly. could not unlock any door or open trunk during this time. jumped the car, started very quickly. will need to replace the battery as it is not charging fully. rear brakes are not wearing properly.. car mileage 35,500.. very unhappy with this car's performance.

A few things has been occurring regarding my car. the first thing is my check engine light has come on several times and when i got it checked, the car wouldn't start right at the dealership. the dealership was finally able to get the car started, however, they reported nothing was wrong with the car. the second thing and most scariest is my brakes. my brakes are totally messed up as they constantly lock and it's hard to press on the breaks. therefore i do not drive long distances because i am afraid i won't be able to stop in time. i've taken my car to get diagnosed and they told me the my brakes and rotars are severely damaged and infact it won't pass the safety check in the state of ny.
After the recall on my car was fixed 3 weeks later i lost power to my breaks. the breaks made an air hissing noise, the pedal popped up and wouldn't depress more than 1/2 inch. i had to use the e-brake to get the car stopped from a low speed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge dart. while driving approximately 25 mph approaching a red light, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. the contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. the check engine and brake warning indicators illuminated. the contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake booster were contaminated and needed to be replaced. the contact received a recall notification for the brake booster system last year in may and the vehicle was repaired by the dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the recurring failure. the vehicle was not repaired again. the nhtsa campaign number was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
Takata recall, my 2013 dodge dart is part of the 15v-800 nhtsa recall. i received notification that my vehicle was affected by the recall. i received notification at the beginning of 2015, i believe, that the recall had occurred. i took my vehicle to the dealership and was told that they do not have the current part to fix the issue and they would contact me. i went in several months later and was advised of the same issue. in june of 2016, the gauges flickered but the vehicle turned on. later on that day the vehicle did not turn on and the battery was dead. i replaced the battery. i went in for my regular oil change in december of 2016 and was advised that they do not have the part to fix the issue at the moment and would contact me. i informed them that this is the second time that this occurred. the dealership stated that i could not get the oil change unless i was able to keep the vehicle there to fix the issue. i inquired about getting a rental due to the fact of me not knowing how long the vehicle would remain at the dealership. i was informed that the dealership does not provide rental vehicles. yesterday, i contacted the dealership to schedule an oil change and maintenance on the vehicle to have the recall resolved. i was informed that it is on a first come first serve basis. i went to turn on my vehicle and the battery was once again drained. i do not understand how a dealership can tell its customers that they do not issue rental vehicles when it is part of a nationwide safety recall. the dealership blatantly disregarded the my safety.
January 15, 2017 i parked my dodge dart in the parking lot. upon my departure i was able to turn the ignition and drive around the bend to pick up passengers. once i came to a complete stop my engine shut off, all service lights came on (mirror warning lights, check engine lights, dashboard shift indicator stuck on "drive" rather than "parked") and no power steering. the vehicle was in 'park' but continued to roll backwards. i was in a full parking lot at the beach on a holiday. multiple people where lined up behind my car to park/ pick up their passengers. had i not have to pick up passengers i would have ended up on a hill (the first turn out of the parking lot is a fairly steep incline) most likely causing a horrific accident. i believe the issue is the power train/ shifter cables. i have not felt safe in this car since ive bought. nor has it been reliable. brought brand new and i have been to the car dealership multiple times for recalls/ check engine lights and oil changes.

I purchased this car used from a kia dealer. i haven't even had it one month yet. while driving one day backing out of a parking space my brakes would not stop. i went to push down on them and it felt like i was trying to push down a brick. it wouldn't budge. you could hear air as you hit the brake but nothing else. a brake light popped up on the screen followed by a car with a swirly line behind it. i almost backed into someone and almost wrecked my car. thank god my kids weren't with me and no one was hurt. *tr
