1)pulled out of a food lion parking lot and hit a pot hole and broke the main spline in the transmission. 2) the truck now shuts off as you're going 70 mph and when you crank it back up. the engine light stays on but the rev limiter is kicking in at 2000 rpms until you stop again and shut the motor off, wait 10 seconds and crank it back up. some times its fine, most of the time it's not. now the paint is flaking off the top of the truck for no reasons. i've never abused this truck and the only "off roading" it's done was driving in my yard. please help. *tr
When filling the truck with gasoline, fuel immediately starts spitting out of the fuel filler neck. unless the fuel is pumped extremely slowly, it sprays onto hands, clothes and the ground. it does this repeatedly and at any level of fuel in the tank. it can take nearly 15 minutes to fill the tank instead of an average time of 5 minutes. even with attempting to fill slowly, occasionally fuel kicks back at the person filling the tank. very dangerous! *tr
2006 dodge dakota, very difficult to refuel regardless of amount of fuel in the tank. filler nozzle continuously cuts off, shooting fuel up the filler tube every time the cut off occurs. it appears that there is a build up of pressure within the tank as the fuel is pumped into it. takes approximately 10 minutes to baby twenty dollars worth of gas into the tank at the lowest dispense level with recurring shut offs. problem is not isolated to a particular vendor, but has occurred with several different brands of gas. definitely a fire hazard and pollution problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge dakota. while driving approximately 35 mph the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel and fuel gauge displayed empty. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where a fuel sending unit was replaced. the failure has since recurred four times and each time the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the fuel sending unit would either be replaced or repaired. the failure mileage was 61,232 and the current mileage was 62,269.
Dt*: the contact stated only one gallon of gas would flow into the gas tank at a time. whenever the contact attempted to fill the tank, gasoline backed up out of the filler neck. the vehicle was taken to service dealer, who determined that 10 to 12 inches of the vent hose was melted. the parts were ordered. updated 11/30/06.*jb
