From about november 2010 until i delivered the truck to thornton road chrysler dodge to install recall p40, the airbag off and seat belt warnings, with or without a passenger, chimed and the warning lights lit up. thornton road chrysler installed recall p40 and recalibrated front seat sensors. after i left the dealer, before i was 100 yards from the parking lot, the warning chime and lights came on and they have not gone out since. i am too angry to call the dealer. *tr

The airbag warning light had always been on the dash and when the airbags were recalled i had them replaced. the light was out approximately 2 weeks, then came back on. took it back to airport dodge and when the service manager got in the truck, there was no light on the dash. we finally figured out it was the difference in weight, me at 115#, he at 200#. he tells me it's a customer pay issue, i have a defective sensor. if i have a defective sensor, then there are a bunch of big men running around with defective sensors that don't know anything about it. *tr

We received a safety recall notice p78/nhtsa 14v-770 and contacted a local dealer on 2/16/12 with an e-mail to us that the service department would contact us. to date we have not be contacted. the recall notice indicates that we should have the problem remedied "within a reasonable time". what is considered a reasonable time? *tr

I received a safety recall notice (14v-354) in the mail in december of 2014. this notice pertained to my 2005 dodge dakota and the possibility that it contained faulty airbag inflators. on this same date i contacted cutter dodge in honolulu, hi to schedule a service appointment - i made this appointment via their website (and provided full details of the recall, etc.), as well as over the telephone shortly thereafter. my appointment was scheduled/confirmed for the following week. i attempted to drop my vehicle off for this scheduled service but was informed that they did not have any of the necessary parts at the time, and would not until mid-january (at which time they anticipate having only a limited supply). my concern is that i have been, and currently am, driving a potentially unsafe vehicle and am afraid that i have to wait until at least mid-january for this issue to be corrected. what if the dealer still does not have any/enough parts in mid-january? how much longer will i have to wait if they are unable to accommodate me at that time? it seems that the dealer should receive enough parts to fix this issue in all of the vehicles affected by this recall (seems to be quite a large number), and not just a limited number so as to only help people on a first-come first-served basis. please let me know what options are available to me so that this issue can get corrected as soon as possible and/or so that i do not have to possibly wait beyond mid-january for a solution. thank you. The airbag indicator light on the dash remains on after startup. i have had this checked out 3 times by different mechanics all have said its a sensor. i have had the sensor changed which has fixed the problem for a short while, when i say a short while i mean for at least 2 miles of driving after fixing. it then comes on and remains on. *tr

Passenger seat belt off and passenger air bag off warning lights light up intermittently; even when nothing is in the passenger seat. the warning lights light up for no reason. *tr

Tl* the contact owned a 2005 dodge dakota. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle independently began to sway. within moments, the vehicle flipped over on its driver side. the front driver side air bag did not deploy. the vehicle was not diagnosed. it was unknown if injuries were sustained or if a police report was filed. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was destroyed. the failure mileage was 100,000. updated 09/03/15*lj updated 12/16/2015*js

Dash board airbag light came on when i repostioned front passanger seat. .i came home and checked dodge forum to see what and where the problem may be.... while reading several posts about checking for a loose connector i decided to go to the truck and removed the bolts holding the seat to the floor i layed the seat on its back, released the red retaining clip and depressed it... whiling holding down the release i pulled on the plug and to my surprise the control unit came apart in my hands.... *tr

I hit a pole doing 40 mph airbags did not deploy. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge dakota. the contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was not inspected by the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 46,000.

Air bags failed to deplly in a 40 mph crash in my 2005 dodge dakota pu. crash involved the front right corner of the vehicle into concret barrier on interstate. in the past, i have reported an issue with the "check air bag light" coming on and staying on for extended periods of time from the day the vehicle was new and under warranty and they investigated without finding any issues. todays incident causes me great concern of potential failures in other frontal crashes with more serious injuries. *tr

Vehicle: 2005 dodge dakota with 24,000 miles on the odometer. the airbag warning lights for both the passenger and drivers side airbags continually go on and off presumably indicating that the airbags will not deploy in an accident. this started about 3 - 5 weeks ago. the dealerships service advisor said to make sure there was nothing under the seats (there isn't) and other than that, since the vehicle is out of warranty, be prepared to spend a lot of money hunting for the cause of an intermittent sensor failure. *tr

Airbag sensor came on for no apparent reason this morning. started truck as normal, panel lights came on as normal, then sensor light came back on with ding. failure mileage 33840. since this truck is a lease, which is up in 2 weeks, will not be contacting dealer. *tr

The airbag light came on, i took it to the dealership to have it checked out. they told me that this was not the first time that they had a truck like mine come in for the same reason, they said that it was the seat airbag sensor. they said that the sensor keeps the bags from deploying when in a wreck. *tr

The passenger side airbag shuts itself off when a bag or some light weight item that weighs less than an adult (no specific weight given) is placed on the passenger seat. the only way to get the airbag back on is to take it to the dealer. they charge $100 every time. the dealer and chrysler corp. are saying that this is normal for this vehicle. i have mentioned that i believe this to be a safety issue, in that if two persons are traveling and the airbag gets shut off, someone either must wait somewhere for maybe 2-3 days until repairs can be made, or ride in the truck without an airbag. this has happened at least 3 times now. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge dakota. while driving at various speeds, the air bag light illuminated. the dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure, however, they reset the controller. this did not correct the failure and it repeatedly continued to occur. the current mileage was 17,404 and failure mileage was 13,670. updated 10/25/07 *tr

Air-bag warning lights come on intermittently sometimes remain on for miles. dealer cannot duplicate problem. question is, will they work when needed? *jb

Airbag lights continue to come on intermittently. previous truck was traded in as the dealer could not fix the issue. now, the new truck is experiencing the same issue. i think this should be kept track of in case of a widespread issue concerning airbag warning lights in similar vehicles (2005 dodge dakota). *jb

Since purchasing my 2005 dodge dakota quad cab in feb. of '05, i have noticed several times that the air bag light in the instrument cluster lights up indicating a problem with the system. i have taken the vehicle in to the dealer to be diagnosed. the dealer checked the "codes" and found nothing that indicated a circuit problem, so they done nothing to repair the vehicle. two days after the service, the air bag light again came on. the dealer even said that the air bag system would not operate whenever the light is on. when the light comes on, it sometimes stays on 15 minutes, and typically anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes. i am very concerned that the system would fail in the event of a crash, endangering myself and my family. this is the primary family vehicle. *jb

Passenger side air bag light works some time it doesn't. you can turn the switch off and back on the light my go out or it may not you never know whether it is working or not. *nm

I was involved in a single car accident with my 2005 dodge dakota truck. in which i hit a pole. i was driving the speed limit which was 35 mph. when i hit the pole my air bags did not go off. when i called the dealer they said that there are sensors in the middle of the bumper. when i took pictures of the bumper they show that i hit it within inches of the center of the bumper. when i took those pictures to the dealer they said that the sensors are on the support beams. i would like to know why they didn't go off and if there was or is any recalls on this. *jb

2005 dodge dakota was involved in a frontal collision. the passenger side air bag failed to deploy and the seat belts failed to lock.*mr the driver hit his head on the steering wheel which knocked one of his teeth out. *nm
