We have classified the 2 complaints from 2002 Dodge Dakota about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
Tl*the contact owns a 2002 dodge dakota. the contact stated that the horn was inoperative. the dealer and the manufacturer stated that they were not liable for the damages because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. there were no recalls pertaining to the failure. in addition, the air bag on the driver's side was not working due to the horn failure. the failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 74,000.
I owe a 2002 dodge dakota and had a recall for upper ball joint that was repaired by merrick dodge in merrick ny. the dealer advised me that the way they do the recall an alignmentwas not necessary. i was informed by chrysler that a toe alignment was required. this recal was done in january 2005. the new tires that were installed in november of 2004 have excessive wear on the inner edges of both front tires evenly. the alignment was never done or done improperly and the dealership refuses to correct or even address said issue. all i ask is a front end alignment so that the tires will wear in a safe and correct manner.*ak
2002 dodge dakota right front wheel bearings and the hub needed to be replaced.*mr the consumer experienced intermittent problems with the air conditioner. hot spot on the front rotors caused pulsation when braking. the vehicle's transmission made noise and intermittent delayed shifting. the right front hub and bearing were replaced. the right front outer tie rod end was replaced. the left front upper ball joint was replaced. *nm
2002 dodge dakota warped routers. this seems to have been a problem with many of the dakota's this website alone had numerous complaints. i have owned this vehicle only one year and just took for inspection, power steering rack had to be replaced in excess of $900 and experiencing problem with vibration when stopping.
The module controlling my 2002 dodge dakota's headlight's, windshield wipers, interiot lights failed. symptoms are shockingly close to those of the recall (i do have a manual transmission). headlights failed, brights failed, wipers failed. only turn signals horn and caution lights remain. dealer refuses to admit it is related to recall. symptoms are the same! what do i do about this!?*ak
Hello, i have a 2002 dodge dakota sxt. i noticed water on the passenger floor board of the vehicle. i cleaned the water and assumed i had left the window down at some point and rain got into the vehicle, however this was not the case. today i noticed the passenger floor board was soaked with water. i thought that my heater core was busted but the fluid wasn't antifreeze it was water. i pulled the carpet back and to my dismay there was 2 gallons of water on the floor board under the carpet. my vehicle only has 41000 miles and i thought this to be strange at such an early time of the vehicle. i decided to look on the internet and typed the words " dodge dakota passenger floor board wet" at my yahoo search engine. i was amazed when at least 50 message boards with people from all over the world asking the same question and people replying to this problem. there are a lot of upset dodge dakota owners that are having the same problem. it appears in the message boards that there is a serious defect with the air conditioning condensation vent tube causing this problem in many dakotas. i have not contacted my local dealership yet but intend to. i believe there to also be a health concern associated with this apparent defect. i have noticed an odor in the vehicle in the past and it was apparent when i pulled the carpet up today what it is. there is mildew and mold all over the floorboard of the vehicle due to this condition/water defect. please give this matter the attention it deserves. thank you for your time. below are links to some of the recent message boards i have found regarding this specific defect. http://www.woodalls.com/forums/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/1543652/gotomsg/1569000.cfm http://www.dakotausa.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=11124 http://www.dodgedakotas.com/boards/v8/2141.html http://mydodgesucks.org/dodge_trucks.htm. *jb
Passanger side floor floods when air conditioner is on. everyday i need to suck out the water with a vaccume. inside of truck smells as a result of the problem. *jb
There are so many problems that it is hard to really point one out that i am most concerned with. first of all it started with the transmission problem. then it lead into what the manufacturer says is an electrical problem. then the replacement of the entire fuel delivery system. now we are at a standstill since they say that it is working as designed. they also say that it is expected to see the erratic behavior from the motor. i am confused since they say that the computer adjusts and then it won't allow the car to run at optimal effectiveness. does this mean that it is designed to run at less than optimal effectiveness? i have had a smell come out of the air as though the vehicle was completely flooded. the front suspension makes threatening sounds and the back wobbles like a serpent. the brakes jitter and i have had to pay for rentals at times when the manufacturer approved the reimbursement. the statement for denial of reimbursement was "the after market alarm caused it". they were the sponsors and initiators of this company since i bought it at the dealership included in my price. *ak *tc
Noisy and unpredictable sound coming from suspension. warning light remains on. stalls and surges unpreditabley. reduced gas mileage. eratic electronic behavior, stops and restarts. even has eratic alarm responses.*ak
Transmission not shifting properly. shifts at 35 mph and then winds out to 55 mph or more and will not shift until you take foot off gas slightly. vehicle has been brought back 6 times for same problem. their "fix" was from adjustments to changing internal tranmission parts to installing a new transmission with the same problem persisting. now am in lemon law litigation. *ak
Upper and lower ball joints are exhibiting premature signs of failure at 10,000 miles load popping sounds when turning and braking. vehicle now has 23,000 miles and is showing signs of steering vibrations. why haven't the dakota models been included with the durango suspension engineering investigation. there are almost 100 complaints on the website? *jb
Tire information label not accurate. vehicle has optional tire & handling group (p255/65r16 tires and 16"x8" rims, but label shows p215/75r15 and 15"x7" rims. examination of other dodge dakotas with same option at dealer had same defect.*ak
In shop (7) times in (5) months. same complaint each time. returned in same condition. dealer says they "do not know about the lemon law". i am towing well under rated capacity, now told this is a "weak truck" by service manager. stated my intentions before purchase and was assured this truck will tow "much more than i asked about. i tow about 1100 lbs about 2 days a week. the problems occured well before i started towing anything. i would appreciate any help or advice you can give me. thank-you.*ak
