2002 dodge dakota quad cab. while braking there seems to be a vibration under the front end or sometimes while turning either left or right in motion it will make a popping sound. i did take it to the dealer 2 month ago for that problem, but all they found out that the brake disks needed to be turned. but the same problem still happens. need to find out if there is anything wrong with the upper or lower ball joints, bushings that are not properly seated on the front end parts, or what? *la

I bought my 2002 dodge dakota new in march of 2002. ever since approximately july of that summer, i heard the now infamous clunking noise in my front end. it wasn't until last fall of 2003 and several visits to 3 different dealerships, that they finally somewhat fixed my vehicle. i have since seen the reports by cbs news in regards to the ball joints and that has put further concern in the reliability of my vehicle. even though several parts, including the ball joints have been replaced by the dealerships (none of whom said they could figure out what the problem was, or even claimed that i didn't know what i was talking about when i said i heard the noise), i still hear the clunking and feel that it will never be fixed. i have put in several complaints at chrysler, so my problems should be very well documented, but feel it is chryslers responsibilty if anything futher would happen to my vehicle, or any other for that matter. please continue to do your investigation into this matter before someone does get seriously hurt.

Since i've purchased this vehicle, about six months into driving it, i began experiencing front end problems with the control arms & ball joints. i've had it back to the dealer(big valley dodge) at least 10 times(@75.00 a visit) for them to repair/replace the ball joints/control arm. now it's no longer under warranty and will cost $1500.00-$2500.00 from different quotes i received. i can no longer enjoyably drive the vehicle. and i can't even drive it on the freeway as the whole front-end shakes the entire truck above 50mph. please help me. i love everything about the truck otherwise. i just want dodge to be responsible and fix their problem. they made a recall for the 4x4, why not the 2x4 with a very similar issue. please help! this is not fair. out of all the new trucks i could have bought, i had to buy the one with a problem the manufacture refuses to acknowledge, everyone i've talked to with the same truck from similar years (2000-2003) says they have the same problem. please help! also, front tires become excessively worn on the outside to where i have to replace at least once a year when i drive 10000-12000 miles a year(ridiculous). please help! *tr
Dodge dakota 4x4 2002 /have been experiencing front end problems with truck since purchase. brought in numerous times to dealer for brake issues[front rotors, pads, rear drums and discs].told multiple times there is no problem, its the way you drive. truck has never been abused, very well cared for. after the 5th time to dealer finnally told that the upper ball joints need replacment.this was after one full year of denial.notified dealer of noise at the steering wheel, told they could not vrify the complaint would probably go away after replacing upper ball joints.one week later after replacment of upper ball joints ,same noise reoccured [loud clunking sound at front end]took back to dealer only to be told that the bottom ball joints need replacment,no mention one week prior about wear on lower area.dealer also stated that the noise noted coming from stering wheel from previous complaints was now thought to be an intermiediate shaft in the steering column, this same noise that one week earlier could not be identified.at 30,000 miles my entire differential gear assembbly needed replacment.i have been charged multiple warranty deductibles on what seems to me to be, the same problem and possibly a canidate for lemon status.at what point will the consumers right's be protected.i am joining a class action lawsuit in regards to chrysler/daimler and suggest to everyone who reads this to do the same.check out www.dodgetalk.com for info and links.also i reccomend to anyone who has had problems with their daeler in terms of denials/non repairs/faulty workmanship/or any related costs out of pocket to file formal complaints and contact a local lemon law attorney in relation to their actions and lack of proper business ethics.only until we make change happen can we acctually achieve it.good luck to everyone who reads this.*ak
