I recently took my car to the dealer to get check out because the wipers are constantly going while i am driving on high. the tech stated i need a ( multi function switch internal part #1jh93dx9al. ) which is located in the steering wheel. he stated the part is on a national back order and if i was to come pay for it. he dont have a eta when it will come. it could take months and months he stated. i call crystler recall hotline to get more in dept with help on getting this part, they told me the same thing, and to call back next tuesday , five days from now to see if them and the dealer have a eta if the part is available. the wipers are wearing down, and my windshield is vibrating due to the fast motion of the wipers are going. i drive a 2hr round trip to work 5 to 6 days a week and the wear and tear is getting worse on my windshield. i ask the tech if there anyway he could by past it or pull the fuse, he stated no because the fuse controls the starter and other major components in the car. i dont know what to do, i need this part, i dont understand why is there not a recall on these cars if there is a national back order, this is my only transportation to get back to work.. i bought this car brand new with 10 miles on it in 2013. i take good are on the car.this part control just about everything in my steering wheel ( the tech stated).. if i dont never get this part, what can i do. i need my transportation. please help me resolve this issue if you guys can

2013 dodge charger 50000 miles just driving down the road and i start hearing a whining sound i never heard before then 10 minutes later a message pops up and says my car is in battery saver mode. alternator went out suddenly with no warning the same that happens with the v6 models but crysler only recalled v6 models not v8. thankfully my dad who had the exact same problem with his 2013 v8 crysler 300 warned me to park before i damaged my battery or my car stall on the side of the road like his did 4 months ago. it is irresponsible for crysler to only do a recall that covers half the cars that is affected with these bad alternators

I am in receipt of safety recall p60/nhtsa 14v-634 i own a 2013 dodge charger se 3.6l engine, wa580 5-spd transmission. on thursday, january 29, 2015, while traveling from la valle, wi to tomah, wi, i noticed my headlights flickering when the brakes were applied. on friday, january 31, 2015, i emailed a note to chrysler assistance that i had received notification of recall about 2 months prior, with no further communications from chrysler. on sunday, feb 1, 2015, traveling round trip from tomah, wi to la valle, wi and back, i noticed my headlights malfunctioning again while applying the brakes. on monday, feb 2, 2015, i had my car in for a regular scheduled servicing. i asked if they had any information regarding the recall, to which they indicated that they know about it, but did not have any new information either. they offered to load test my battery, which was fine, indicating that i could continue to drive the car. later in the day on feb 2, i received an email from chrysler assistance indicating that my complaint had been forwarded to their special tracking department, and that once the parts are available, i would be notified. i would like nhtsa to look into why chrysler has not been able to arrange either a better part or an alternate solution to remedy the recall. i do not normally drive the car much after dark, but to be stalled somewhere out in the country when it's 20- zero outside would put the safety of myself and my young daughter needlessly at risk. *tr
My vehicle has a safety recall on the alternator since november 2014, the abs light and traction control light came on while i was driving home from the store. i called chrysler the next day to inform them of this event and i was given a case number and put on a list. i use my car daily for work and can't be without it so i am wondering how long does it take to get in parts to fix it. my children and i are in danger every time we have to go some where until this matter is resolved. *tr

There is a recall i just received in the mail today on my car p60 (alternator) and i was driving down the road yesterday dec 6, when everything shut down on me...while driving 45 mph in congested traffic almost causing a deadly accident. they said there is no remedy yet but they will put a new defective alternator on my car leaving me in the same situation if this happens again until the problem is resolved. i feel the car should be replaced at their expense as it is no longer safe in my opinion for me to drive with children because we were almost killed yesterday when this happened there was no warning it just went down. dodge willnot give me a rental car since i am 900 miles over warranty but this is a recall so im stuck with no car and even when i get it back it is still defective. please help! *tr
I received safety recall p60 from chrysler in early december 2014. the safety recall indicted that the parts required were not available and that they would contact me when the remedy parts are available. i have heard nothing. i contacted chrysler today 3/7/15 and they indicated they have no idea as to when this situation would be remedied. given the fact that this is an alternator situation which could cause the car to unexpectedly shutdown or catch fire, it does not appear as though this situation is being taken seriously by chrysler / dodge. i would like a remedy to this situation immediately. thank you. *tr

Well i was driving on hallandale beach blvd in south florida and my dodge charger shut off on me after giving me a "battery saver mode" message. i had just picked it up from the dealer and they told me it was a computer issue but my beliefs is that they lied. i went online to look up some information about the message given and many people have complained about it. please do further investigating on this issue. luckily i'm still under warranty and i will be in there tomorrow morning to speak to them in person about this issue. *tr
On august 2nd, 2015 at approximately 2:30pm while backing out of my driveway onto a busy street when i placed my car in reverse i observed my backup camera not to be functioning and showing a black screen. i attempted multiple times taking the car out of gear and than placing it back in reverse again with no effect. i then shut the vehicle off and turned it back on then placing the car in reverse. a black screen still showed but the text stating "check surrounding areas" popped up on the top of the screen (still no image showing). i notified the dealer immediately and took it in for them to take a quick look before closing. technician informed me he could not find any codes, and that all wiring and connections appeared to be fine but told me to make an appointment. i made an appointment for the following monday. when i went to leave the dealer that saturday i placed my car in reverse and the camera was functioning fine (haven't had an issue since). i dropped my car off sunday night and the dealer had it monday & tuesday and could not replicate the issue. the item was not replaced under warranty and dodge is basically informing me that a intermittent issue is fine. *tr
Battery saver mode comes on and electrical problems w/ radio, navigation and blue tooth connectivity occur and become unresponsive. there is a high pitch "whine " coming from alternator and smells hot. it has happened a few times since and dealer unable to identify or "duplicate" problem. *tr
While entering the highway, the call stalled and seems as if there was trouble automatically switching gear. at first we thought it was just time for an oil change. so after getting the oil change, the radio and engine went hay-wire. she couldn't shut off the engine for over 30 minutes. when we took the car to the dodge dealership regarding our issues, they told me they couldn't find anything wrong. i bought this car for my wife and have serious concerns. clearly there is something wrong!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
My 2013 dodge charger had it's alternator fail at around 12000 miles back in may of 2014. i see that chrysler has now recalled the car (nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000) for the same issue. however, i have not been able to get a straight answer from them in regards to whether or not the dealer fixed the issue when they replaced the alternator in may 2014 or whether it is still a lingering issue. i also failed to get a response as to whether or not it is safe to drive the vehicle if the issue is still lingering. i tried communicating with them electronically through their website and their 1800 recall number. the 1800 recall number was a waste of time because the lady answering the phone only repeated back information that was part of the public release of the recall. the lady answering the phone also tried to make it seem like its unknown whether or not my vehicle is even part of the recall. that seems strange considering the fact that most alternators do not fail at 12000 miles and my charger matches the description of vehicles that could be affected by the recall. given the possible consequences that could occur, i wanted some reassurances from chrysler that the vehicle was safe to drive. *tr
On may 5th, 2014 when i entered my vehicle and started it both exterior side mirrors blind spot detection mirrors were illuminated and a message in the center instrument display screen stated; "blind spot detection system unavailable". dealership was unable to take a look at it at this time but an appointment was made for may 8th. the night of may 5th the blind spot detection system began functioning again but was not working for approximately 6 hours even with shutting off and restarting the vehicle multiple times and checking to make sure sensors were clean. dodge dealership was unable to replicate the issue and no further action was taken. this is a safety issue to not have these systems available especially if many other people have come accustom to depending on these (even if they shouldn't be). *tr
On approximately 4/16/2014 while driving my girlfriend attempted to use the seat heater on the front passenger side. when pressing the button on the 8.4 inch screen we were able to hear a click and then the function which as illuminated on the screen turned off. she tried multiple times but the heated seat would not stay on. i had the dealership look up this issue and the following was found: "cs - b1eb2 - 1b r/f seat heater sensor-circuit resistance above threshold, inspected heated seat module connector and heated seat pad connector looks ok, checked for short to voltage circuit p688 ok, checked continuity from module to cushion pad connector circuit p688 no continuity, checked short to ground, circuit is shorted to ground, removed seat inspected wiring, found wiring got rub thru on seat frame. inspected heat seat cushion pad sensor, found heated seat pad sensor internal failure ordered seat cushion, repair circuit p688, cleared dtcs and check if heated seat is working, seat is still not working, r/f seat is reading that its -40 degrees. removed seat and replaced passenger front cushion heated element and verify repair". so i was driving around with a heated set where the ground wire rubbed through on the seat frame. luckily their was fire in the vehicle due to my girlfriend repeatedly pushing the button in an attempted to get the seat to work. *tr
2013 dodge charger. consumer writes in regards to vehicle electrical system problems and alternator recall issues. *smd the consumer stated he experienced problems with the radio, lights and dashboard information. he turned the vehicle off and back on again, and everything went back to normal. however, one day while driving, the lights, windshield wipers and horn started to malfunction, the vehicle started to lose power, so he pulled over to the side of the road. as he stepped out of the vehicle, he noticed smoke coming from the trunk. he opened the trunk and observed and extremely large fire. he tried to put the fire out, by using a coat, but consequently, he received first degree burns on his hand. the police and fire department were called to the scene. several days later, the consumer received a call from an inspector who stated the fire was a result of the electrical system going bad. the consumer received a recall regarding the alternator, which described the issue he experienced. *jb updated 09/10/15*lj
Wife complained of trunk opening by itself. car has keyless passive entry system and i suspected she was accidentally hitting the trunk release button. problem became progressively worse and on two occasions she had to stop on the side of busy highways to close the trunk putting her at a substantial risk of injury or death. a brief online search shows an historical problem involving this complaint. at first the problem was humorous but after her having to stop on the lie the humor quickly faded and concern arose. the car is at the dealer for a fix and i expressed my concern and was blown off. this may not be the typical safety problem associated with potential injurious events but an unforeseen or unexpected reaction to this situation could lead to unintended accidents. *tr
While driving my "awd" charger down my hill in the middle of a snow storm my "awd" system failed on me and illuminated a message stating "service awd". i pulled over to the side of the road and put the car in park and restarted and awd was still unavailable. with only rwd i drove the car to the dealership with it spinning out multiple times for them to take a look at the system however when i arrived at the dealership the system began functioning again after shutting my car off there and turning it back on. the technicians were unable to replicate the issue and were not able to find anything wrong with the system. this is dangerous as anyone could be driving and have the awd system fail on them at any given point intermittently or permanently and needs to be investigated more deeply. *tr
Vehicle main computer executed just about every warning code after start up. this included a warning not to drive vehicle. this is the second episode of this nature with this vehicle, the first occurring on the first day of ownership. the vehicle has been in the dealership service department 13 of the first 60 days of ownership. the dealer "disconnected the negative battery terminal" and erased trouble codes on advisement from the manufacturer. the manufacturer has deemed this an adequate repair procedure and wants to release the vehicle back to us. we feel that this is not an adequate repair process and due to the nature and scope of the computer controls and subsequent error reporting by the computer, that driving this vehicle may be dangerous. when these concerns were brought forth to chrysler llc customer service department, i asked the agent if she (and chrysler llc) were satisfied with assuming any subsequent liabilities that may arise from operating this vehicle in its current condition, she said they do. we are now being forced to return our rental loaner car and drive this vehicle which may not in fact be safe or reliable. we strongly feel that chrysler llc has breached its implied warranty of merchantability. this vehicle does not meet the criteria for fitness for a particular purpose. chrysler llc has not offered a "buy back", or replacement vehicle. we have purchased roughly $80,000 worth of chrysler vehicles in the past 12 calendar months, we will not buy another if this matter is not resolved.*jb
Every 3 months since purchasing the car the battery will be dead. when i have battery checked will test good. put battery back on and will last 3 more months and then dead again! ever since purchasing vehicle in june 2013. battery saver mode comes on message screen regularly. whenever battery saver mode is on message screen am not able to use radio or other items on 8.4 inch radio/nav/phone screen... when accelerating at light, car hesitates when pushing gas pedal and then when is pushed a little further car lunges, not smooth acceleration. always starts out slow and smooth then hesitates (seems like going to stall) then lunges.
