The transmission shifter interlock lever broke resulting in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the "park" position. i see that other cars that are very similar to mine, if not the same car as mine, that have had this problem have had factory recalls on this...... 2005-2007 dodge charger, magnum and chrysler 300 .....but unfortunately mine doesn't and i don't know why. *tr

Traveling out of state and recovering from total knee replacement. 2007 dodge charger sxt was operating without incident. stopped to look at yard sale and car would not shift out of park upon return. internet research shows this to be a common problem. car left on road at this time, while searching for alternative transportation to doctor for follow-up on knee replacement surgery. the reset for the shift lock will not work at this time. *tr

The shift assembly that allows the car to go from park to drive has broken. called dodge and asked about a recall and they stated one has been issued but not for my car due to the time frame it was built. so no recall for my car. this is a major safety hazards cause it could slip out of gear or the brakes could fell or who knows else will happen. i need this fixed and not to happy with dodge due to they wont issue a recall for my car when i can look on the internet and find other cases just like mine and same year and make and model.

My 2007 dodge charger will not shift from park. i have read many complaints online and this should be a manufacture recall issue. this is costing me 380.00 to fix and should be a dodge liability. the company is making money had over fist for a problem created by them. *tr

Dear sir or madam, i have a 2007 dodge charger srt. my vehicle will not get out of park, because of a defect in the gear linkage. when i called chrysler corp. i was informed that there is a recall on certain models based on time the vehicle came out of production. although i'm having the same problem as the re-calls, they refuse to fix my car. my car has been parked, un drivable for almost 3 months. regardless of production date, my auto was made by dodge , i'm having re-call problem, i only have 37 thousand miles on this vehicle, and it's been in the shop 4 times!!. i can't understand why chrysler wants me to pay for their mess-up. i can't afford to continue to make car payments on a parked car. please look into this matter. i've spoke with chrysler corp. with no resolve. thanking you in advance for your time and attention. My 2007 dodge charger had a part failure in the shifter mechanism that prevented it from being moved from park. this occurred at 8 pm at night on top of a parking garage when i had my family with me. it took over an hour to locate a towing company that could get to me because of the parking garage. the dealership informed me the problem was a cheap plastic part that had been recalled on the avenger but not the charger and they had been replacing about a dozen per week. dodge should recall this part and repay the owners that have already had to make the repair. *tr

The electronic throttle control causes the car to lose power while driving. it makes it impossible to accelerate. it usually happens on a cold start and has happened on occasion after the car has warmed up. the dealer claims that they can't do anything about it unless it happens while at the dealership, because there is no way to read an error code. *tr

We went to the movies and when we came out the car would not come out of park. no matter what we did the gear shifter would not move. we had to get a ride home. we called the dealership and they said this is a common problem with chargers and told us how to get into the gear shift mechanism so that we could get it out of park. this happens everytime it is put in park we have to take it apart. this needs to be recalled. we cannot afford to have this fixed on the car when it is considered a common problem. dodge needs to make their customers happy, we will not be recommending this vehicle until a recall is made to correct this problem. we feel it is poor salesmanship to not disclose this at the beginning of the sale. we have been dodge owners for the last 20 years but that is due to change without further help on this problem. *tr

I drove my car to work and parked it. when i went out to my car to go to lunch it would not shift out of park. i had to remove the upholstery around the gear shift selector to get to the plastic piece that was causing the problem. i have to use a screw driver to move the broken piece so that i can shift the car, until i have time to make it to the dealer. i have done some research and found that this is a common problem with the dodge charger. *tr

I have a 2007 dodge charger that will has gotten stuck in park numerous times. it has eventually come out after a few minutes of jiggling the gear shifter. after looking online i have read several complaints regarding this issue. i had my speakers recalled, i don't understand why this has not been recalled yet. *tr

Driving my 2007 dodge charger. no warning lights, car stalled in busy intersection. car towed. shop states rod problem- engine blown-car was treated like a baby- oil changed ever 2500-3000 miles- dealer states no reason for this to happen to a 2007 with 74,000 miles- dealer also stated this has been a problem with the 2.7 ltr engine and dodge is not taking care of the problem and blaming it on the owner of the car..... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge charger. the contact stated that the vehicle was parked and shut off. when she entered the vehicle she was unable to shift the vehicle from the park position. an independent mechanic examined the vehicle and she was informed the failure was within the gear shifter. an authorized dealer was notified and she was informed this was a common failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 70,000.

I drove my car to the end of my road to pick my kids up from the bus stop. once i put the car in park to allow the kids to get in it would not shift out of park. i called a tow truck and when he arrived he removed the plastic console and showed me that by pressing a hot pink lever my car would engage. he was correct and i drove my car home. i contacted the dealership and they informed me that it would cost around $350 to have fixed since my warranty ran out less than one month ago. i do not feel that i should have to pay that after reading the numerous complaints listed on here. this is obviously shoddy manufacturing and should be recalled. *tr

Pink plastic tab in the shifter assembly on 2007 dodge charger rt (17,000 miles) broke, resulting in vehicle being unable to shift from park. there are thousands of complaints online about this problem. the tow truck driver even commented on the notorious "charger stuck in park" problem when he called in our pickup. chyrsler - dodge has refused a recall on this issue, yet charges 400 dollars to fix it. they put the same type of part back in and many people have had it break over and over, just to pay again to have it fixed. *tr

I own a 2007 dodge charger. biggest piece of junk ever in my drive way. i was excited when the challenger came out, my daughter would get the charger and momma would get the new challenger. i can say, that wont be happening. in the three years i've had this car, i have had to spend several hundred dollars to have the transmission fixed from leaking fluid. a part i was told that was manufactured incorrectly, but no recall, i had to purchase the fix kit myself. within 6 months from this happening, the instrument cluster went out. loosing all electronics in the car. again, no recall another $600+ out of my pocket. now just this week the "pink thinky" has messed up. this left me stranded in any empty parking lot at work on a friday afternoon and my husband an hour away. thank goodness the mechanic shop i go to could tell me how to override and get me home. of course i called the dodge dealership first, but low and behold the service department could not help me. the answer, "i can send a tow truck. i do know there is an override but i'm not sure how it works." really! three things right there a recall should be issued on! this car should not have the problems it does without someone taking responsibility for correcting it. mitsibishi has dodge beat by along shot! 00 galant, was traded in for the charger with 260k miles on it, never spent 1 dime that was not for routine maintenance, and it still ran, drove and handled like it did the day i bought it. but i just had to have the new dodge charger, big mistake on my part! there will never be another dodge anything in my driveway. i know dodge does not care, i'm just one out of millions but they should! dodge can go bankrupt totally, and never manufacture another thing and my work would keep right on revolving! *tr

2007 dodge charger with automatic floor shifter would not move out of park once started. had no prior problems. car started fine and showed no warning lights or anything. *tr

07 dodge charger, with automatic transmission, and console shifter. the plastic piece holding the park gear release spring breaks off and the vehicle can then not be shifted into gear. this is an obvious engineering flaw that chrysler and it's dealerships are well aware of, and choose not to address as a warranty or recall issue. the vehicle i am involved with has only 46,000 miles. the problem is widespread enough that the aftermarket parts industry, speciffically dorman , manufactures and sells a metal replacement for this obviously defective and inadequate part. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge charger. the contact stated that the gear shift lever became stuck in park and would not move. the dealer advised having the vehicle towed in for inspection and possible repairs. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the current and failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

2007 dodge charger automatic floor shifter would not shift out of park. *tr

My car shifter won't come out of park. i own a dodge charger 2007. had to get a tow truck to take car to mechanic. was told that they get an average of 2 of these cars per week for the same problem. checked in internet and found several complaints about the same problem. i want to get reimbursed from the chrysler/dodge company for this expense ($518) because this should be a recall issue for all the charger owners. the mechanic informed the consumer the gear shift lever broke and the piece had to be removed and replaced. updated ivoq 12/01/10 *tr

Shifter stuck in park. after research on internet, found it is a common problem. why would a major car manufacturer use a cheap easily breakable plastic part in a component that is used so frequently. *tr

My car is stuck in park! i have no idea what happened. i drove it today with no problems then all of a sudden i try to leave and it wont allow me to put it in reverse. i have seen a numerous amount of complaints online with people having the same problem so this is something that is common with these cars. "my car hasn't been repaired yet!" i don't think i should have to pay for something that i didn't cause. *tr

Shifter stuck in park. car drove fine, parked it at night, the next morning the car would not move out of park. researched the problem online, found a fix (to prevent calling a tow), and drove the charger to the dealer. i expected this to be covered under a recall (#08v583000). but it was not, called chrysler and they stated that my vehicle was not covered. how many times does this have to happen before the manufacturer will do something about it? admit to the problem, pay for the repair, and consumers would be satisfied. very displeased with chrysler/dodge. other problems manufacturer will not pay for, rotor/brake pads wearing prematurely/loud squeal, drivers window leaves starch marks on glass, abs light on, engine sputters. *tr

2007 dodge charger. consumer writes in regards to reimbursement for repairs *tgw the consumer stated when she returned to her vehicle, she was unable to get the gear out of park. the dealer replaced the shifter and cable. the consumer also stated the rear window was damaged due to a defective heating element in the defroster grid. it occurred when the window shattered on november 18, 2011. it was the second time she used the rear window defroster since purchasing the vehicle. the first use was in 2010. she has since realized during that first use, the heating element in the defroster grid malfunctioned through overheating which caused a brown spot on the rear window. the automatic rear window defroster timer failed to take effect causing complete drainage of the battery. *jb

Our car got stuck in park, couldn't shift gear. apparently gears got stuck. had to get is towed, sent to dealer. although dealeship said it is common thing that happens to chargers, wasn't covered through warrantly. had to pay for parts and labor. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 dodge charger. the contact stated that the gear shift failed twice. she was able to shift into park; however, she was unable to shift out of the park position. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the gear shift was replaced. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the current mileage was approximately 87,000. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Transmission failure at 62k miles and 2 years old. 2007 dodge charger, 3.5ho w/ 5 spd.autostick. *tr

On the morning of october 16, 2009 my 2007 dodge charger did not notify me of any problems and the check engine light did not go on. i started my engine and proceed to change gears and it was lock. i did know what was wrong so after out-of-pocket expenses towing to the dealer-ship the mechanic said that it is broken gear shift mechanism then mechanic said, "it was not my fault. it is a internal problem and there is no reason why it broke." to make matters more difficult for me the warranty that came with the car will not even cover this part. this is a defect in the car. what if was driving and could not shift back to park or reverse would i have had to been a accident and risk my life? to correct the failure it will cost me to pay close to $400.00 to replace/repair. let me remind you guys that i did nothing wrong with the car it is something that broke by itself. i take care of my car i service when needed and i only use to commute to for errands, work and home. this is a valid part and a warranty will not cover that? please review my complaint and consider the circumstances that the gear shift mechanism is a defected part on 2007 dodge charger. *tr

Dodge/chrysler floor shifter recall [k39] dodge knows they have a huge problem with the floor shifter, but is only covering a 3 month [6/25/07-9/21/07] manufacturing span. dodge needs to cover the whole year[2007]. our car was parked in our driveway when the spring broke and we could no longer get it out of park.

2007 dodge charger, 6 cyl, base model. car stalls when either coming to a stop or at a complete stop, when just off brake to accelerate, when going from reverse to drive, when exiting the freeway, etc. car attempts to stall sporadically when driving. have almost been rear-ended three times, almost hit when accelerating onto the freeway by a car already on the freeway because car tried to stall, and car stalled on railroad tracks after waiting for a train and then putting car in drive. car has been in and out of shop four times with random items replaced, but no diagnosis has been made and the issue remains. the car has now been in the shop about a month and there is still no answer. *tr

On dodge chargers with police packages, the transmission uses a column shift. the transmission cable can pop out of the bracket under the steering column and cause an extremely dangerous situation because the driver thinks the vehicle is in park according to the shift lever and prndl but the vehicle can still roll because the transmission is not in park.
