2006 dodge charger. consumer writes in regards to faulty ignition switch. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle had a transmission leak, and it shuddered, the sun roof rattled and the side trim fell off. a former transmission specialist, informed the consumer, the condensation drain for the air condition dripped onto the transmission and pooled around the transmission filler tube. when the vehicle reached a 140,000 miles, it began emitting white smoke, to the point where the consumer was unable to see out of his rear view mirror. an inspection revealed the valve seat of the #3 cylinder had dropped out, smashing two large holes one on each side of the piston, the size of a quarter. there was also a hairline crack across the apex of the piston hole-to-hole, the debris had pummeled the cylinder head. also, debris from the damage had been sucked back into the inlet manifold depositing metal chunks into the #1 and #2 cylinders damaging the pistons and heads with small chunks of metal embedded in them. *jb updated 08/28/14

Was traveling at 55 mph and slower with defroster on at 20 degree outside temperature. windshield completely fogged up, had to pull of to side of road to clear windshield. windshield only cleared about 2/3rds, and would nor clear on sides of windshield. i could not see around corners without opening windows. after a week of frustration and hazardous driving, i discovered from an online complaint that the recirculation cover on the heater blower was stuck open, and was not letting fresh air into the vehicle. i found that the arm that moves the cover had broken, so after removing my glove box, i manually closed this cover. after researching this, i found that this is a rather common in chargers. i and everyone on the road around me were very lucky that this did not cause an accident. i feel that dodge should be making owners aware of this hazardous problem, and since it is a common problem, there should be a re-call. for a vehicle owner to fix this $30 part, the repair bill is almost $900 due to the extensive job of removing the whole dashboard and steering column, and all associated parts. i was fortunate enough to find the problem before i or anyone else got hurt, but others may not be so fortunate.

Greetings, on 01/02/2009 at 09:30 a.m. ct (time & date i reported the incident to my insurance : claim #: 09-4104090), i've decided to warm up my car (2006 dodge charger rwd) after 2 weeks. i started the engine fine and then right when i close the driver door; i heard a big bang shattering noise from the back (like someone has dropped a heavy rock on the rear window). i turned around to lock and it was my rear window that was just shattered in pieces (note: the car was still in parking gear). i would to have this incident investigate for manufacturer defect. i don't understand how the window can break by itself. i'm the first owner and bought the car brand new from dodge dealership in omaha, ne in 2006. for any additional information, please contact me. *tr

It was about 8:00 a.m. it was not hot about 60 degrees, me and my husband were standing by the car and when he got in and shut the door without starting the vehicle first, the rear window shattered for no apparent reason we both stood there watching in aww as it continued to fall in pieces at first it exploded outwards then just fell in side the rear seats if the children were in the car with us glass would have fallen all over them nothing hit the window and it did not have any existing cracks at all it just shattered first in one small area then around the edges as it being eaten or something then just all over i don't have a video camera but i took still patters as it was happening. then i looked on line to see if any others had anything like this happen and i found we are not the only ones. this glass is a very serious safety issue there was very small sharp shards of glass all over i got some in my hand and fingers. the dealer refused to believe me and denied there was a problem. but i stood there and watched this happen. this glass needs to be recalled. *tr

I work for a chrysler-dodge auto dealership in texas. we are currently repairing a 2006 dodge charger heater core leak. the heater core leaked hot antifreeze onto the gas pedal and onto the leg of one of our salesman.*jb the heater core is a very poor design and should be recalled before someone gets burned while driving down the road. the heater core tubes are held on to the core by a small cheesy clamp that comes off very easy. even the new heater core we received from chrysler tubes were half way off of the heater core. *jb
